Not a manga adaptation, but a storyline in the same timeline to show how it happens in Korea
Just finished watching it in one sitting. I like that it only used the Parasyte theme and not adapting the manga plot and storyline. So it makes it look like the Parasyte happening in Korea in the same timeline as Shinichi Izumi. You know how sometimes you read a manga about end of the world and the heroes are all fighting only in one country and it makes you wonder, "so how does other countries manage the apocalypse?" The Korean parasite is exactly that. It shows how the parasyte takes over Korea. That's why Shinichi can visit her, because they're not making Shinichi Korean ver., but rather making their own heroes. Love it so much. 9/10.
I would love different versions from different countries and have both the Korean and Japanese casts cameo-ing.

Great short series!
The series is really good. I love the concept and plot. I'm curious about where the parasites came from, though. The actors are great, and the cinematography and monster designs are impressive. It Offers a compelling viewing experience that is sure to leave a lasting impression. From its captivating plot to its standout performances and stunning visuals, it has all the elements of a must-watch show.

Fun watch with depth of character
This is an amazing adaptation to the Japanese version. It follows a really similar story line for those who has read or seen the Parasyte Movies. It gives Sweet Home vibes as well.Besides the action of this show the creators have been able to create a suspenseful plot and an incredible layer of depth and insight to the human condition. Using these beings as a way to unravel how human's think from an external perspective. Sooin's parasyte is also able to use her external insight in order to show Soo-in the things that she herself was unwilling or unable to see and it helped to develop more layers to her character without boring the audience.
I really enjoyed the ending of the show, it is leading me to hope that there are more seasons to come.

Could have been better
The fact that every apocalypse/disaster series seems more and more similar to one previous is nothing new, it may as well be one of the reasons I'm quickly losing interest in the genre.Surprisingly enough, they managed to keep it fresh while still maintaining the same formula. They accomplished this by incorporating small details, establishing the story and workings early on, and focusing on the subsequent aftermath.
But even subverting the usual "everything is going to hell" trope, the story is bogged down by clichés you would usually witness in the genre, from the act first, think later characteristic that runs amok amongst all the characters, to the one - dimensional characterisation. There's the usual "who's the real villain?", and the darkness of human nature, everything you would usually see in the genre.
What seemed to be innovative started to take the usual, cliched route the minute it hit the halfway mark and just like that I began losing what little interest I had.
I put this on my list for Koo Kyo Hwan but also because despite my recent disinterest in the genre, I wanted to give the drama a try, and while I can't say I'm dissapointed, I can't say I'm impressed either. The short duration meant a perfect binge watch, but ultimately I didn't rate it as high as I thought I would after the first couple of episodes.

Gripping ~ needs S2 to continue monentum
May 2024Not a limited series, therefore a S2 expected, dependant on ratings I assume, so fingers crossed.
I loved the pace and the characters. At 6 episodes there is little room for depth, but to be honest, personally I don't think a series always needs it. If the aim is thrills and entertainment, that's not the point anyway.
There is enough background to understand main characters and the action starts fairly quickly.
Jung Soo-in (actress Jeon So-nee) is a somewhat tragic character; when her Parasyte, whom gets named Heidi, comes to the fore, Soo-in 'sleeps' and vice versa.
That's not a new concept and has been used in many dramas about multiple personality disorder (Hyde, Jeckyll, Me; Kill Me Heal Me). However, with an alien cohabiting Soo-in's brain that can't be psychoanalysed away, it gives things a totally different feel.
The SFX are pretty good and some scenes of confrontation are excellent.
There are sad aspects to the plot, but perhaps due to the lack of episodes, I didn't feel connected enough to characters to get emotional; I was more shocked on a couple of occasions.
I actually loved the character of Heidi (but I am sure we are supposed to) and Jeon So-nee effortlessly carries off switching between the two.
Seol Kang Woo (Koo Kyo Hwan) is a witty, cocky character on the wrong side of the law and self-serving. Circumstances bring him together with Soo-in and he slowly becomes more protective of her, although not always out of choice! KKH is perfect for this role (loved him in D.P.).
Choi Joon-kyung could be a pretty arrogant and annoying character, and whilst a part of me got why, her actions in relation to someone parasitised, I found unforgiveable, considering their identity. I found her very hard to like or empathise with.
A good supporting cast, with familiar faces and no obvious over acting.
I didn't find the look of the Aliens to be scary at all, in fact I found them pretty odd really. I'd love to know exactly where they came from. Their view of us humans is basically as food and a 'home'; fair enough ~ as the apex predator on our planet, we're actually no different in our behaviour towards pretty much all other species. I can only imagine what designs some would have on inferior life forms, if we ever found any from another world.
There are some twists in the story and it's pretty thrilling at times, but not strong on tension.
The close of S1 is actually pretty neat, so whilst it would be disappointing if no S2 was to follow, the story would still have been a decent viewing in itself.
Kept me glued and I wanted more; so, worth watching and I'm hoping for a S2, when hopefully more will be revealed.

Fun Entertaining Watch
The story and characters got better with each episode such that I hope they continue with the main characters in a part 2. I thought there were a number of plot holes and open questions on how the universe worked, but because the story doesn't take itself too seriously and because of the character growth you don't care about those questions. At the end I was left wanting to see what happens next with these characters. Was this review helpful to you?

Not an adaption of the anime but fantastic nonetheless
Started watching it expecting it to be an adaption of the anime but it’s not. There is a nice nod to the anime in the last scene of the last episode though. The acting and pace is brilliant, really enjoyable for those who aren’t into slice of life k dramas and prefers thrillers.I don’t really like rewatching series, but I would rewatch this again. It’s great that it’s short and nothing in the storyline js dragged out unnecessarily.
The CGI is done insanely well and the overall quality of the production is great.

Was this review helpful to you?
Whether you like it or not, you are not alone.
Koo Kyo Hwan sempre fazendo thrillers incríveis.
Espero que tenha 2 temporada, com a Su In no time Grey.

Spin off Excelente
