Gooheajung's Weekend Movie Picks

The movies I picked are just funny and light movies I really enjoyed; one which I want to share with you. I hope you’ll enjoy them as much as I do! I really love funny movies, so naturally they will all make the viewer laugh at some point. If you don’t like things that make you laugh, then this may not be for you! But I still highly recommend these movies and I hope they may even convert you to be a comedy-lover. (^u^)

Country: South Korea
Year: 2002

Genre: Comedy, romance

Synopsis:
How do you go about detaining a total stranger for 12 hours? This is what Ha-Young (Lee Yo-Won) has to do for her best friend, Mi-Ryung (Kim Min-Hee). Mi-Ryung has been planning for a surprise party for her overseas boyfriend Jun-Woo (Shin Ha-Gyun), but her plans are stopped short when her father finds out that Jun-Woo is half-Hawaiian, and forbids the party from being held. Mi-Ryung is put under even greater pressure when Jun-Woo tells her that he would arrive early, and she pleads with Ha-Young to intercept Jun-Woo at the airport, and to keep him from turning up at Mi-Ryung's place before she can iron things out.

CAUTION!

The trailer shows nearly everything, so if you don't want to know what happens, don't watch the trailer.

I wouldn't say that the acting is exceptional, but you get into the atmosphere of the movie so you don't really notice it much. This movie is fun but not a movie that's going to bring you on a journey through tears, heartache or puzzlement. It's more the kind of movie you'd watch when you just want something entertaining in the evening. But it's still a really nice movie. It's funny, cute and easy to understand.

Genre: Comedy
Synopsis:
Sang-Man (Cha Tae-Hyeon) starts seeing four annoying ghosts after a failed suicide attempt. Carrying out their individual wishes, he finds the pleasures of daily life and forgets about his loneliness and depression.

This movie is really fun!! All the characters are played wonderfully and the story really hooks you 'til the end. Cha Tae-Hyeon is a really good actor! I've seen him in many movies and he's been amazing in all of them. I don't find him particularly handsome either, which can sometimes fool me into thinking an actor is good, or sometimes, I'm just too in love with him to admit he's bad (though this doesn't happen that much *she says proudly*).

Country: South Korea
Year: 2011
Genre: Drama / Comedy / School / Award Winning / Coming of Age
Synopsis:
17-year-old Won-Deuk (Yoo Ah-In) is a sophomore in high school with a miserable outlook on life. He doesn't have much interest in school, his diminutive sized father has a hunchback, and Won-Deuk doesn't know anything about his mother. The one thing that Won-Deuk excels at is fighting. Although he isn't aggressive by nature, if anybody makes a snide comment about his father then Won-Deuk has no problems beating the crap out of them. Making Won-Deuk's life that much more miserable is his homeroom teacher Dong-Joo (Kim Yun-Seok) who seems to frequently pick on him in class. This bothers Won-Deuk enough that he often prays in church for Dong-Joo's sudden death. If he doesn't get enough of his homeroom teacher at school then he often sees him at home. Dong-Joo lives in a rooftop apartment directly adjacent to Won-Deuk's rooftop apartment.

This is my favourite movie of all time! I could probably watch Punch over and over again and never get tired of it!  It's funny, realistic and also really sweet. The actors are brilliant, they play their characters as if it was their own life, and the setting is also perfect. In fact I think this movie is just that PERFECT! I can't fault it in any way! This movie has also inspired me on so many levels.

So I hope you'll enjoy them. And, if you do watch them, tell me what you think in the comments!
