[edit]Synopsis

Tanaka Misako stars as a woman struggling to raise her three sons - played by Tamayama Tetsuji, Hayami Mokomichi and Nakao Akiyoshi - after her husband dies. Kuninaka Ryoko will appear as Tamayama's girlfriend, Chisato. They don't know when to stop, and live life to the full—meet the never-a-dull-moment Sakurai family, where nobody holds their feelings back. Returning to serial drama for the first time in five years, Misako Tanaka and the three hyperactive sons provide a story with a heartbeat. Sakurai Harue (Tanaka) who has brought up her sons alone after her husband died, is absolutely hopeless at running a household. Her eldest, stickler Tatsuya (Tamayama), does the job in her place while keeping younger brothers Riku (Hayami), and Junpei (Nakao) firmly in line. The sparks are constantly flying, but that's the way it goes in this home. Tatsuya, a serious-minded advertising agency worker, and his brothers, an easy-going swimming instructor and rather naïve student, are three good-lookers who, along with their useless live-wire of a mother, keep getting into all sorts of scrapes—in love and at work. This is the Sakurai household, where everything hangs loose and everyone always speaks their mind. Tanaka says she really loves this 'perfect family.' They are sure to win your hearts too! from: wiki.d-addicts.com

Brother Beat follows a family of 3 brothers and their mother.
Each brother has their own issues and struggles and the drama takes the viewer on a journey of growth with them.

The drama has the right balance between the serious and the comedic moments.

The cast is wonderful all across. Each character is portrayed to perfection. My favorite was Tanaka Misako as the disgruntled and lazy mother.

A lovely family drama with a good amount of laughs and heart.

This drama is fun to watch. The characters are very realistic and actors did great job to bring them to live. I must admit that this is not a love story but a story about family. After the death of the father 3 sons and their mother are doing their best to live as a family but they have a lot to learn about responsibility and their oun desires.

  • Both dramas are about the lives of brothers (three in Brother Beat and four in My Prince) and their parents. Comedic, romantic, and heartfelt family moments make these dramas an enjoyable watch. Admittedly, Brother Beat is better overall. However, most will be able to appreciate My Prince.

  • the mother's character is the same in both series : childish, curious and annoying at times.
