[edit]Synopsis

One day, a middle-aged man, Fujimoto Makoto, is standing on a train platform, about to jump in front of a train. Nakashiro Kana and Tasaki Shota both happen to be on the same platform, and sensing what is about to happen, they quickly pull him back to safety. There's a reason why Kana and Shota realized Makoto's intentions, they both have the kind of emotional scars that can't be put into words. Even after so much pain, through a series of e-mails, they've become attracted to one another and slowly learn to open up their hearts once again. --Fuji Creative

To date this is my favorite drama. The story is about three generations in Japan that have grown up since WWII. The two lead characters (Nakama and Kase) are adults but still the youngest members of their families. The scriptwriter portrays each character with warmth and a critical eye revealing both strengths and weaknesses. In some cases, for example the two fathers of the middle generation, you can't tell which parts of their characters is a strength and which is a weakness.

Unlike most dramas that I've seen, all the characters are completely realistic, even the most bizarre. There is not much action in the drama. For me this was no problem because I was so caught up in the characters. The acting was superb especially

  • Nakama Yukie also plays her role superbly. Make sure subtitles are decent. Look for ones by Momoflower. Not a suspense drama. Family drama with a little funny business. The 'miracle' is really there but subtle. I didn't know why the Irish dance the way they do before I saw this. Always in the background is the impact of losing WWII on the three following generations of Japanese. But of course this is barely mentioned at all.

This is the best jdrama I've watched. It is slow developing, has no 'action' but the acting is terrific and the script is flawless. You may have to see it twice to fully appreciate it. If you like Nakama Yukie as much as I do, that should be no problem. Caution: some versions have English subs that are so bad they destroy the story. Look for subs by Momoflower.
