A late night drama starring Fukuda Saki and Matsushita Yuya. Fukuda Saki is Shun, a tattoo clad 3rd generation orphan in China. Shun and two others assist the police in undercover investigations in the fictional town of Midori where illegals live. "Quartet" is a serious and violent look at the underbelly of a society where people are treated as slaves and used as test dummies for illegal manufactured drugs.

  Fukada Saki looked amazing in this drama. Tattoos, cropped blonde hair and a permanent glare. She was also the most compelling character in the drama.
  
  The plot revolved around illegal Chinese residents in Japan and the drug trade that occurs in the Chinese ghettoes of Japan. It would have been nice to hear some dialogue about social issues behind the illegal residents of Japan but the drama doesn't go that deep.
  
  Interesting plot lines and characters but the execution came off as lacking. Some more depth to the characters, both lead and supporting would have made this drama a better watch.
  
  The side characters did not experience as much character growth as I would have liked and the ending was too abrupt for me.

  A gritty crime drama with lots of mystery, blood, sex, violence, drug use and adult themes (no wonder it came on so late at night! lol) I really liked the different twists and turns the story took and how the majority of the story was unpredictable. I also liked how authentic everything seemed, from the acting to the set, to the language. In order to watch this drama you have to be ready for adult themes because there is a lot of talk concerning prostitution, rape and needless killing.
  
  I really want to post some spoilers and tell you some things but I clearly am not allowed to so I will say this. Shun is the highlight of the series (she was committed to this role), Takeru eventually becomes a lot smarter, and the accomplice (who I will not name) is not as smart as we think. The government officials do care about these people they have placed in midori town and show up when it counts.

  Both stories are about changing your identity to get revenge.quartet is certainly grittier, and darker but follows the same idea of trying to find the truth through lies.
