[edit]Synopsis

City Hall is a drama that deals with politics in a romantic comedy genre. It's about the happenings between a young woman mayor and an elite bureaucrat. Jo Gook is an exceedingly smart government official. He passed the Higher Civil Service quickly, and basically is the perfect guy. But being a deputy mayor is not enough for him. He lives with the dream of becoming South Korea's President. He should have easily gone straight to the top, but due to an unexpected incident, he gets dispatched as a deputy mayor for a provincial small town, Inju City, where Shin Mi Rae is working. Shin Mi Rae is a low-ranking secretary in Inju, but she works her way up in becoming the youngest City Mayor. As their paths meet, they have to deal with each other's personal and social differences. But despite their constant bickerings, will they end up in each other's arms?

He makes me laugh and his chemistry with Kim Sun Ah is just amazing!..Her character is awsome a strong and a fighter who does not give up!.. Her character is one of those people you will love who doesnt cry alot over silly little things!!.. Everyone in this drama did a great job ... The love story and romance just keeps you wanting more!..

To say that this is a romantic comedy set against a political backdrop is a matter of perspective.

City Hall, for me, paints a typical--if not accurate--picture of Asian countryside politics from the petty to the scheming bureaucracy and party politics, then taking it up a notch by touching on national politics and slowly intertwining it with a meaningful love story that develops into the fore.

    WARNING: potential spoilers up ahead!

Shin Mi Rae is a 10th grade civil servant who, after winning a contest, finds herself being the victim of Inju's swindling city government. Mi Rae, indignant about this injustice, initiates a self-serving one-person protest until it becomes a city-wide issue. Mi Rae realizes that her issue is one among many of those being ignored

  • Both are really underrated, but still great dramas, that you shouldnt miss. Both are cute, with nice romantic storyline :) HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

  • Both these dramas are filled with a more mature cast and much deeper and interesting characters. They're both very well written and underrated dramas which are set in the workplace type environment but deal a lot with the romance between characters.

OMG! After writing a review for this, I decided to rewatch and now I feel my review fell short. This is even more enjoyable the second time around. The first time I was wondering where everything was going, so I did not have a chance to enjoy and really realize how freaking awesome the dialogue in this soap is. It reminds me of why I loved the West Wing S0 much. I love witty, fast flowing dialogue, with underlying meaning in what is said. This show has it in spades. Even the characters names mean something.I even have favorite quotes! I was laughing so hard now that I can get the jokes better. And my, the chemistry btwn those two, WOW! The ost is awesome, the moment the theme song by Clazique Horan(can't get out of head) appears right at the perfect moment of the story line. I don't understand ppl who think this is boring. I love it even more this time. Why isn't more popular?

If you've only watched 1 episode please don't review. Please just comment. The rules do say to watch the movie or drama 1st. One episode couldn't possibly give you enough knowledge of a 20 episode drama to review it fully.

Wow Really? Who reviews a drama after only watching one episode? Is it the psychics striking again?

I loved it actually, this is one of those little dramas that has a very good rewatch value, you just drift towards them again after some time. Loved the leads! And though I wrote in the review that ost is not interesting, it does its job well. But..Moon River at one point is a bit much :P But I do like the main I think theme sang by a nice female vocalist. Expect the music to pop up in all the right places. It's a pleasing drama for rom com-ers, most definitely.

Has you rooting for Kim Sun Ah all the way! Loved how the characters seemed so much more realistic in this drama than in others. The main relationship progresses quite nicely and they have great chemistry.

You should watch it - it's brilliant! The characters are lovable and mature - they are real human beings. You still have some drama clichés but the drama never goes overboard with them. The actors are really amazing and I loved Kim Sun Ah here a lot more than in My name is Kim Sam Soon.
  • Jeaniessi Apr 7, 2011
The way this drama was acted, directed and executed was brilliant. The romance between the leads was mature and intensly romantic. I thought I would be bored watching a political drama but Kim Sun-ah is amazing and this show is never boring.
