Honestly I know there's mixed reviews of this drama but for me it was 9.5/10. I liked the plot, the characters, the chemistry among them. I liked the enemy to lovers kinds trope and how their past was also intertwined without them knowing. The osts are soooo gooood. The only thing I honestly disliked was when the grandpa didn't even apologize for his doings. I honestly didn't like his character though without him the drama won't even happened lol. But I've rewatched this quite a few times and I never got bored of it.

Thai GL version of Dynasty

GLs are few and far between, they should not be judged harshly and given the space to grow. The first thai gl, GAP, I dropped after one episode. This one I finished but only because it was short not because I liked it. I did not. Actually it was bad and boring.

The story of a 20yr old high school student hitting on a 36yr old artist is new and original. And that is all. Everything else is just bad starting with the main characters. They all sound like they came out of a soap opera. So the 20yr old's mother was the artist's best friend in school. She even had a crush on her but when the artist rejected her confession, she slept with a boy who got her pregnant. Later that boy was getting married to the artist but she left him at the altar. They all come from wealthy families.

I would not have minded this soapy plot if the chemistry were good. It was not! The 20yr old girl behaves as if she is 12: baby voice, cutesy expression, pouty, pushy and manipulative. The 36 yr old artist is a virgin, never been in love, usually lost in front of the pushy girl with rare bouts of adult reasoning which is always welcome.

They are making a second season? Please don't! This was bad enough! The woes of rich people are not as interesting as they used to be! On the other hand we may find out answers to some of the questions that have been left open.... but I will have forgotten about those by tomorrow anyway!

it's really worth watching

I really cried when I saw the ending of episode 4. Their acting was really real and it melted my heart. The OST really got me into this drama. I'm sure you will like it. Kim Hye Yoon really got into Im Sol, blowing me away with her incredible performance. Byun Woo Seok is no less cool. I can feel their chemistry is very strong. I look forward to many more of your project. I also hope you understand the storyline which I feel is quite realistic to idol's life now. Don't forget to give your review so you can share information..

I'm glad it was a happy ending

I wish I could write long and heartfelt reviews like my better minded drama watchers, but I don't really have much to say about this drama, except that I strongly recommend to watch it if slice of life is your kinda drama.
I think ML has a thing for FL but knows it won't float with her, so he's choosing to pretend it isn't there, what do you think?
Looking forward to FL's next drama, if it comes anytime soon, and of course, CEW

Unsureeeee

I started watching this show because I loved Yan Xi in Dear Herbal Lord!! However, I stopped watching the show around episode 7 because I felt that there was not enough chemistry between the characters. Even when Yan Xi played a similar cold character in Dear Herbal Lord, I could still feel tension and romantic interest. I am not sure if what I am saying makes sense, but the female lead's role just wasn't my favorite. She is a good actress, but I did not like the dynamic between the characters, it just felt flat :/ Which makes me sad :(

Although I watch all kinds of dramas, especially costume dramas, if there is a lack of chemistry in a romance, I cannot finish it. I have put this show on hold for now and will update my review if the second half of the show changes my mind. If anyone felt the same way but decided to finish the show anyway, I am curious if the other half of the show changed your mind.

AMAZING

Genuinely one of the best gls I've ever watched, the acting and chemistry is there with all actors and characters.I was a bit effy about watching because of the hate it got before it aired but i gave it a shot and WOW. I believe everyone should atleast watch a few episodes, you wont regret. The main characters/actors are amazing actors and they make those characters really come to life and gives their all for the viewers to truly feel and understand their characters and their story.

The only TV series to ever make me cry

When i started, i was sceptical because of the reviews. And that was so wrong. The story was very rich, acting was on point - it looked realistic, not cringe nor underacted. Sensitive topics were approached in a very realistic and serious way. It gave me the same amount of cuteness and romance as a korean series would, but with the japanese seriousness and anxiety. I also enjoy the fact, that there is no power dynamic between the main characters - that they don't fall into the stereotypical tough guyxweak guy thrope. Simply and easily my new favorite series.

Waste of Time

I really love Kim Young Dae and wanted to watch more shows with him, so I started this one, but it was simply terrible. I hated the female lead's character. She just did not work for me in this and I couldn't stand her acting style. Mostly it was the idea that she was a firefighter that was just pushing belief too far lol. I couldn't take it seriously.

Every character in this show was incredibly weird and didn't make sense though. And then it ended so very badly and I just don't understand why it was even made. It just felt like a waste of space and time

Goryeo-Khitan War is an long epic and very heavy and political historical drama, and a certain type of period drama that I thought would never come back into the scene in the current kdrama landscape that we now have, where the fluffy romances with only a few political plots here and there seem to have gradually taken over the period drama scene and each drama seems to get fewer episodes to tell us its story.

I feel like this show was successful in making this enormous and complicated story epic and successfully cramming in lots of history within these 32 episodes without making it too dense. It was rather thrilling thing to watch from start to finish. There seems been put quite a bit of detail within the narrative, although there are, of course, some deviations from history - and especially in the second half, or so I have read.

The focus of the narrative is largely on the war strategy of Goryeo and other things that came with the waging a war, the toll it took on the people and soldiers who fought bravely on the frontlines, the pressure it put on society or the elites who found ways to take advantage of the turbulent times that followed. And the story certainly captures the tension and depressing mood that came with it all – you're able to immerse yourself in the action and put yourself in positions in a way that you can feel every sword slash, every conspiracy, every deceit with the characters. But also every victory.

The first half of the drama focused very much on the action and the story holds no punches and gives you time to adjust before descending into chaos. And the story doesn't really take a break until about halfway through. There is constantly something happening, every little thing within the story affects something else, and each episode reaches a cliffhanger of sorts that makes it so you can't stop watching.

The second half of the story focuses a lot on exploring the aftermath of the war and the story shifts the pace of the narrative ever so slightly, although the story never really stops to a halt, but more so gives itself some time to catch a breath. It certainly gives us plenty of time with the characters and gets to know them all over again after the war and everything they've been through. But it becomes a bit of a repetition and there is a lot of 'men sitting at a table or standing together in a room and talking and arguing about things' sort of things happening. But the political intrigue was strong enough and the characters likeable that you just went along with it.

And although I think it's a very engaging narrative in many ways because the story successfully makes us feel for, and root for the main players of the story and their idealistic views – and the characters are all very interesting and flawed in their own ways. I did appreciate the angle to the story, that it would be difficult to get the country back on its feet after so much conflict, because I feel like that part is not often shown in shows like this, in such detail.

It can be said, however, that the plot seems to rule over the characters at times and not the other way around, but especially in the first part, in which case there's also an awful lot of plot and things like that happening and they want to make sure that the historical narrative is delivered properly.

I did enjoy the female characters here, even though they are few and their roles in the narrative was maybe a bit too the side, yet they were complex, and all served the story in some way. They may be in secondary roles and it's a super male-centric story, but they still felt genuine and real for this time the story takes place in.

This drama is gripping and epic in scope. It’s a thrilling history lesson about perseverance, loyalty and love of one’s homeland, the complexities of wars, and all that with some old school kdrama charm, which in a way makes the story a little fresh. It's not for everyone, but as a fan of the heavier kind historical kdramas, I really enjoyed the journey of political intrigue that Goryeo-Khitan War took me on. And I also just enjoyed getting a period drama from Korea that doesn’t happen during the Joseon era, because we don't get to see those every day.

Full of Twists and Turns and Hopeful for More!

This story is one of the most realistically honest, bittersweet, dramatically epic, extremely thrilling stories I have seen in a long time; each episode was incredible! Watching each episode's story unfold was truly fascinating. The ego, or should I say arrogance... Or maybe... The confidence of the people involved in each story was surreal.

This story is one of the most captivating and curious stories I have watched in a very long time. It was exciting to see a few of my favorite actors in roles that were enthralling and seemed to be written for them to act in as if to show off their skills and talents.

Each episode took my breath away, like a punch to the stomach. Watching the team work together through their past(s) and proceed in their future(s) was mesmerizing; the way they moved through society and their personal lives was curious, almost like watching two different people cast for one role; like twins or parallel universe situations. The Twilight Zone comes to mind.

I don't want to get future viewers' hopes up for "100% happy endings" and this isn't exactly as dark as the synopsis says it is, though watching the risks each story's cast takes on has been immensely scary and has kept me on the edge of my seat the entire show. The story had a lot of hilarious moments as well, including a few that I believe could only have been pulled off by the selected cast members. Especially Fujiwara Tatsuya, his dead-pan reactions were amazing. I also found a few other actors to follow and a few more that I already knew of that completely surprised me with their talents. It was nice to see familiar faces expanding their talents in similar areas/casting while also showing completely different sides of themselves.

The ending was not at all what I expected! Honestly, this story is something special an intriguing; not one to be missed!
