Why would someone want to produce and direct this drama? So bad in many levels.

Step By Step Love is a RomCom drama starting with Zhao Zhi Wei and Lu Yang Yang. I wonder why someone would want to direct and produce this drama. The story is so stupid, and the entire cast's acting was horrible, especially the FL actress. She cannot act and only has a one-face expression when mad, furious, and confused.

Her character is clueless and annoying. After 10 episodes, I can no longer watch it. 2024 has been disappointing for rom-coms, costume XianXia, and Wuxia dramas. They are all boring and unbearable to watch.

Synopsis: It tells the story of the cold company President Lu Chen Yang, who is a cruel revenge machine full of calculations to make his opponent pay the price. He finally meets his opponent, the daughter of a desperate rich family, Qianjin Bu Ran. When a hunter falls in love with his prey, all the hatred in his heart turns soft.

My Reviews:
1. The FL is annoying and can't act.
2. The ML acting is mediocre.
3. The story needs to be revised. I may drop it when better dramas are airing.
4. The grandma was mean, and all she did was yell at everyone.

I am dropping it and giving it a 4.0 rating for bad script and acting.

Love School or Magic?

This may be one of the best roles I have seen Hongo Kanata in; it was as if Ueno-san was written specifically for Hongo-san. The way he portrayed such an "evil-yet-kind-hearted" character was truly one of a kind, very unique, genuinely relatable, and even, at times, a little funny.

Watching "Ichijo-kun" go through the motions of all the trials and tribulations of dating was hard to watch, and again, sometimes funny, and a little sneaky. However, none of the "lessons" felt cheesy or like they were a little too "snake-like". It seemed like all, or most, of the lessons learned throughout this show could be used in any type of relationship... Though, not in their entirety...

While this story seemed a bit exaggerated at first, toward the middle it all seemed to balance out as the episodes continued and what became the finale was something really spectacular. I have to say, I laughed a lot during this show, though watching the touching-heart-felt moments and the bittersweet-unfortunate moments really added to the show's authenticity. The ending was a bit of a cliffhanger, but even if it didn't end the way it did.... I would still definitely want to see more of Gotanda Kingdom!

One of the best kdrama I’ve seen so far!!

First of all, the acting is absolutely impressive and the way they’re all so implied in the story it makes it even more suspending! Every single episode is worth to watch and it shows how the characters progress together, the power of their friendship and how they grow even more powerful each day.
Secondly, every single character has an important role in the serie and everyone is special in their own ways, I like the fact that every character has a different but special personality that belongs to them only, it’s something I can’t really explain but if you guys watched the whole serie you’ll understand. Hoping for season 3??

I'm sad it ended

The story is basically about this women that is framed for the murder of her entire family, while the crown prince receives a 'curse' note that he is trying really hard not to believe and it's about how their lives start to intertwine basically. The women runs away from the soldiers and disguises as a Euninch to stay by the Prince's side and prove her innocence. The story is very different to many other dramas I've watched and I must say I loved the progression of the storyline that gradually revealed many interesting elements but with just enough rom-com too. The leads' love felt so real and pure, unlike most of the dramas where the leads obsess over PDA, I really liked how the leads in this drama were not subtle but their love felt pure and innocent almost. I loved that about this drama. The actors in my opinion have done a TERRIFIC job. ABSOLUTELY LOVED the leads, a lot of people are saying that they didn't have chemistry and it felt forced but I think they had great chemistry. I think most people think that because of the lack of PDA, but honestly it shud be harder to present love without PDA, like just in the 'eyes' you know lol. But basically I loved the cast's acting, regardless of what anyone said they've done suchhhh a great job at presenting this drama that I wholeheartedly enjoyed. The music is also really good, I think it's gonna make it into my playlist. Overall, Absolutely terrific drama with a great storyline and a purely innocent love without PDA that is just soo enjoyable and entertaining to watch. ????????‍♀️???

Love it

I’m in love with all of the main characters. But I must say, although the mother’s behavior has made me cringe, I am completing love with Saifei He. Her acting skill and her emotional range are clearly the work of a seasoned professional. She is amazing. Many of the actors are among my favorite. Well done family drama. The tears and the laughs were genuine but most of all the crazy, illogical and profoundly important intricacy of the familial bond was front and center. Well done! Oh and the duet at the end is good too?

Meh the ending ruined it…

When I was watching this BL, I did enjoy it at times. I like the friends to lovers trope so I thought the plot truly had potential but the ending ruined it. For us to finally get a confession then not see them together was a huge disappointment which is why I gave it a 7. A 7 because it had great potential and an interesting plot at times but the ending and the longing of a confession was just annoying. I think it was just sad that he had to move at the end right after they finally confessed and understood each other’s feelings and intentions. I would’ve rated it lower but I did enjoy it in the beginning and felt like if the ending was revised then it would’ve been really good.

I did feel like the characters had decent chemistry between each but I don’t really know about the “side couple”. They were just kind of there and wasn’t really interesting or had any true development.

Definitely had potential…

I don’t understand the bad reviews but everyone has their opinion. This is the first series I watched with ForceBook, and I didn’t think it was that bad. I liked the characters and felt like they were suiting to the actors and how they were portrayed. At times I did feel like the plot was lacking but the times that the plot was interesting and captivating made up for it. It was very lighthearted but had a twist with some dark or deep themes which at times seemed like it was thrown in there. The acting was really good and I did enjoy the cast. I did enjoy this BL and I feel like GMMTV did kind of good with this type of concept.

I’m excited to see more ForceBook and probably will get around to watching their first series they did together in the future. Also I was very excited to see Drake in this drama since he barely gets casted these days. Hopefully we see him more in future series as a main character or main supporting character.

Love PondPhuwin…

I watched this series over 3 years ago but I am just now getting around to review it…I love PondPhuwin and they are one of my favs but this isn’t my favorite BL. I felt like at times the acting was lacking and Phuwin’s character was annoying at times. The annoyance and moments in the plot was just disappointing…Since I’ve seen another series with this ship in it, I can say that they have improved so much from the acting in this series. The plot was lacking and was kind of boring at times. I felt like that story got interesting but only towards the end. Not my fav but it definitely wasn’t bad for 2019.

Also I love NeoLouis and I wish they were still a ship. But I love how they are acting individually and obtaining some good roles. Hopefully in the near future they will become a ship again.

Cringy but kinda interesting…

I can understand why the rating for this BL is low. It was cringy in majority of its scenes, but I kinda liked it at times… Even though it did have some weird moments, overall I thought the drama was cute. The dude who played Dino was also in Love in the Air, so I was surprised to see him playing as the main role. His character was a red flag in half the show so it made the series kind of repetitive or annoying. But I’m a sucker for cringy series sometimes so I think that is why I enjoyed it.

It definitely wasn’t my favorite but I enjoyed it at times. The acting was not all that good but I liked the cast so hopefully we can see them in a better drama in the future.

This, is a story of true love

I never knew japanese dramas were this good, until I watched this one. The rawness of the emotions, the storyline, the realistic pacing and events, the acting, THE ACTING, loved how they didn't ruin any character, and the fact that you can understand every character's perspective without blaming them or hating them for their actions, proves just how beautifully written this story is. Let's not even talk about the ost; it clings at your heart in ways you never knew was possible.
Loved every second, every minute, every hour of this wonderful experience.

This drama is everything, and more.

Maybe not the best choice, but definitely a good choice

Truth be said, I watched it solely for Xu Kai. I've always loved his works, and this being a modern setting drama, I just couldn't miss this.

Story : It will test your patience, and reward you for having it . Lemme give a background: ITS NOT A ROMCOM. If you're here for romance, you might be disappointed. But, if you wanna watch a family drama , THIS IS IT. (You would relate to the story much more, if you happen to be Asian (specially south/east))

Initially, first couple of episodes went by really fine . FL's ex seemed so fine to me that i thought why would she ever break up with him , but as the story unfolded it became crystal clear , why? The mom seemed too selfish, intrusive and nagging towards her children , for about half of the drama. But, once you get to know about her past , you just understand her character better. I personally really hated FL's mom for initial half of the drama, but once that mother-daughter scene came around , everything became clear, like the sky clears down after a thunderstorm.

Its an FL centric drama, where the world revolves around her family (read: mother) and her work . On work front , she's a brilliant person who outshines when given the opportunities. She had ample amount of hurdles along her path , but they only made her stronger and unstoppable. In the family , she's an daughter, elder sister and a granddaughter. She is a person with strong character, maturity and sense of responsibility. She's the kind of daughter every parent would wish to have (especially south east asian).
In the first half , there is mostly lots of politics going on in the workfront, and nagging at home for the FL, also her ex is all over the place. I felt the second half of the drama was much more balanced , as we could see the characters for who they truely were, for example, FL's mom became a lot more tolerable (for me), we get to know Zhiming wasn't really a cunning, selfish boss, his past was unfolded in later episodes, FL's workplace became more stable & we could see her hardwork coming to fruition.

Acting : I absolutely loved Kai and Yang zi. All of the cast for that matter have done a really good job. It was my first time watching Yang Zi. Be it the mother daughter confrontation scene , or her grandma's funeral, her performance was so pure and soulful.
Xu Kai's just been amazing like always. Be it being tacky, getting emotional, crying , teasing ,laughing or whatsoever, his expressions are always on the mark. It was great seeing him in a modern drama.

What I feel they missed: Huan and Zhiming's wedding. I wish they could have included that .

Summary :
If you're up for a family drama, with just enough romance to make you smile time to time , you should definitely give this a go. Its beautiful in terms of filial love, paternal love & sibiling's affection portrayed in this drama. I feel it touches upon almost every relatonship one encounters in their life time . Its simply satisfying.
A good watch.

Feel good slice of life drama which I enjoyed

A feel good Slice of Life drama that is a good watch. It's an easy casual watch with a lot of cooking but is broken up in several parts, including start up business, family life, etc. It does get a bit boring though but as soon as you feel bored something is thrown into the mix that 'wakes you up' to continue watching. And this occurs until the very last episode. Don't want to say too much and will leave it at that.

Story an 8.5 rating as it keeps the viewer engaged enough (for me at least) to finish the drama. Others might feel bored and won't stick around for 36 episodes.

Acting: 8 The lead actress did the best out of all the actors.

Production and Visual FX : 8 it was ok with good Cinematography for the preparation and cooking of the food.

Ost: 8

You can safely skip this drama without regrets

I watched this series till the end and concluded if viewers are into a good tv drama, skip this one.

The storyline is rather common ie. a tiger mom wanting her daughter to marry a rich man's son; two rivals becoming lovers; father reconciling with son; younger man falling in love with an older woman with a kid; and etc.

It's a good drama for those who want to watch a good acting by Yang Zhi and Xu Kai.

But, if you are into a great C-modern drama, this is not the one for you.
