OUTSTANDING IN EVERY CATEGORY!!

Back in 2020, I watched The Untamed for the first time, it was great and interesting as a fan of both leads. But I missed a lot of the storyline because of the length ( I fast-forwarded it ). After some months, I kept seeing about the edits, plot-twists, and major spoilers, I was surprised, How did I miss those important facts?? I re-watched the drama for a few times and tried to understand that it was a MASTERPIECE. Not just a popular bromance drama but much more than that, the reality behind the fake masks of people, sibling bonds, friendships, brotherhood, and the judgemental society.

This was the first ever drama I rewatched, and it was absolutely worth it. The connections between plot to plot, the excitement of the thrilling journey, and the innocent-looking but actually the villains with the deepest secrets and darkest part. The acting was excellent, the storyline was impressive and the OSTs are masterpieces by themselves. And of course, I did enjoy the bromance between leads, and the portrayal of their tragic story was impressive.

Overall this drama is one of the very rare dramas without any cringe moments, useless characters or nonsense plot twist. Everything was perfectly amazing and will be in my heart forever :D

Decent time killer and nothing more.

I almost never watch movies and to my knowledge never a Japanese one plus I ended up only half watching cuz of how boring it was, so bear with me in my ramblings.
It was 1am and wanted to watch either an episode of K-Drama or a short movie, so I chose the movie (for other reasons too like Asano Atsuko), was it good? No lol. It wasn't the worst thing I've seen before it just didn't have a clear plot, too many leads and to quick of an introduction for a 100 minute film (like the 2 male romance interests seconds into the movie ALREADY get the ball moving then practically disappear like what) even though they seemed to only focus on one for the last 50 minutes. Instead of focusing on all 4 sisters and somewhat fleshing out their backstory (not really) it would have been much better if they focused on one sister for the entire film.
I can't really comment on the technical side of the movie because 1) I hardly watch movies and 2) the few movies I've seen from the era are James Bond blockbusters so its unfair, though I will say lighting is about average for 80s jdrama and same for the cinematography, sound had some oddities (Blu-ray seems to have been mastered with an audio delay lol) but not bad.
For the life of me I couldn't figure out what decade this took place in, I'd like to say the 70s-80s but idk cuz of the dated fashion seen and everything else screamed 60s. Also couldn't figure out what on earth the whole meaning of this movie was but I guess that's just because I'm trying to grade it like it's Interstellar.
Overall it's an ok time killer, if you know Japanese then just throw it on in the background while doing something else, it's ironically a more interesting watch that way.

Loved it.....

Well right after I finished watching the series I came here. Tinted with you is a classic historical korean bl that mostly talk about art history of the Joseon times. They did a great job potraiting each charater in this series. The cast is only 5 people in total and they did a great job with that.

Fisrt of all if we talk about the story plot it's too simple and cute and very common but I loved it because it's not too much or confusing. I wached the series because for a movie the plot is a little bit weal ( this is just my opinion about the movie ) The director did a great job while making this series by around only a handful of people. I really loved the aesthetics that they used in here.

However I literally loved it and for me it's a must watch. I'm recomending this to every bl fan it's not too long you can just complete this in a day. Also it's so cute and classy so people who love to watch classic ancient bl dramas then you can watch this one and It's a highly recomended. Anyways I loved it.

A Hit or a Miss?

When this drama was out, I couldn't patiently wait for the next episode, because of the plot twists and the story which made me nervous. The acting was great and the storyline is interesting with multiple theories but I was disappointed with the bad ending. About the characters, most are straight-up dumb, and their decisions are too childish, the only reason that this drama was exciting is because of the MAFIAs. Although this is not the best, I really enjoyed the feeling of having uncountable questions in my head, yeah, it did answer most of those questions in the end but it felt rushed.

And also, Where are their parents and family members?? How do Se-eun's parents manage to kidnap them for the stupid video game, only because of the reason they ignore their daughter?!?! Like seriously, they also are the same, they should've comforted and supported her before, not just blamed other kids who have their own life to care for.

Overall, this is not a bad drama, I enjoyed it through out the show even though I don't like the end. This lacks storyline but the performances were nice, a gud drama to watch if you love this kind of genre.

One of the best k-dramas

Psychopath's Diary is humorous and at the same time, suspenseful along with the best performances. I saw a short clip of this drama a few months ago and I knew it, this is what exactly I'm finding in a drama. And here are the things I enjoyed the most.

1. Yook Dong-shik ( His emotions were on point, I feel what the character felt. Even though this is the first drama I've watched from Yoon Shi Yoon, he has become my fav actor now )
2. Unnecessary Dramatic background music ( I love it every time, that one whistle music played, it was hilarious and matched perfectly with the plot )
3. The Side Characters ( Every single actors done a great job, especially Park Sunghoon. His acting was amazing that I wanted to slapped him )

Overall this is a 10/10 for me, I loved, LOVED it! And gonna be exploring more Dark-Comedy genre. ( Ngl, ML is a little too dumb at some point, but that's what makes the drama alive )

Best Chinese Drama of 2023... with the side of an obsessive stalker

Really good show - one of the best Chinese dramas I've seen in a while (easily the best of the year), with some glaring flaws.

Now going into the show, it's important to look at it from the lens of an "idol" drama - it's purpose is to entertain viewers, not realistically portray humanity. That's why some things like the main leads' overpowered-ness (and yes, they are the two strongest characters from beginning to end, no one else comes close) is excusable. And even given that, they're semi-realistic with it - the main leads are constantly suffering from injuries and they struggle with defeating enemies in large numbers.

First, great characterization for the characters - leading and supporting alike, probably the best I've seen for a wuxia drama (outside of the masterpieces in Nirvana in Fire and Joy of Life).

The main leads have a strong relationship - they have good chemistry, it matches the plot, and by the end, you can see how much they care for each other in both their actions and their acting. They get together relatively early on in the show, and they have a strong loving relationship for most of it. The most refreshing thing about it is that the problems that they face in their relationship are very realistic - there aren't any stupid misunderstandings that drag on for episodes on end, and there are no outsiders that try to influence their relationship in any significant way (just a gang of shippers, but they're harmless).

Most importantly, the main leads have a mature relationship. Without spoiling too much, they broke up with each other in the middle of the show because they realized they both wanted different things out of a relationship. They're smart characters that clearly care for each other, but they also realize that they need to prioritize their own needs without sacrificing everything for their partner.

Outside of the main leads, Princess Yang Ying has the strongest characterization out of any supporting character I've seen in recent memory. She has a classic hero's journey arc - from weak princess to the strong ruler of a nation that takes responsibility for her citizens. She learns from Ren Ru Yi the importance of her status as royalty, and you can see how it transforms her actions and decisions throughout the show. From scene to scene, you can witness her growth and it's a feel-good moment at the end when you reflect on what she has become.

In complete contrast to that is one of the major flaws of the show - Li Tong Guang's character. His character is so odd and uncomfortable at times, given his obsession/sexualization of Ren Ru Yi. It feels like the show just brushes that aside when the two main leads decide to work with him - like, this man has been creepily obsessive over your lover for years, are you sure you want to treat like this? Throughout the drama, there are hints of his redemption, but they get squashed over and over again by his actions. To compare, the writer wrote Princess Yang Ying's character arc as a straight line from weak to strong, and Li Tong Guang's character arc as a fucking scribble.

Outside of these four characters, the supporting cast is well developed. Each of the Liu Dao Hall members have a clear narrative arc that is neatly wrapped up by the end of the show (especially Liu Shi San - did not expect him at all). Even minor characters like Chu Yue, Deng Hui, and Chief Secretary Du show character growth, and become likable to viewers. One thing I was particularly impressed about was how the writer managed to tie in the Wu Empress and Danyang Prince's narrative arc with such little screentime (episode 1 + an episode near the end).

The only criticism I have of the supporting characters is the Wu Emperor - who somehow magically transforms from a selfish to magnanimous king... but that leads into another issue: Pacing. Particularly in the last couple (5-6ish episodes).

The entire drama breaks down in the last few episodes - at such a rapid pace. Things are happening left and right. Something that would have taken a couple episodes to unfold is shown in mere minutes, and it leaves viewers confused. The plot twist when the main leads return to the Wu Empire could have been a glorious moment - but the entire conspiracy unfolds so fast, there isn't time for the viewer to completely process and marvel at everything.

And... MAJOR SPOILER: All the characters start dying off one by one that there isn't enough time to mourn their death either. It's strange when all of the characters survive until episode 35 or so, but so suddenly die off.

When it comes to the technical side of the drama, there's very little to complain about. Amazing sound - from the voice overs, sound effects, and (especially) the music. Beautiful costumes + production design, all of the characters looked beautiful. And the camera work on the fight scenes are a marvel - especially when the two leads are fighting side by side.

With that, it's a great show - the writer did a good enough job in the first 30 or so episodes of the drama, that I'm attached to the characters enough to follow through with the trainwreck of the end, since I wanted to see what happens to them.

(P.S. Hearing about the Liu Yu Ning drama breaks my heart. I think he's incredibly attractive in the show - and I'm not usually a fan of male characters in historical dramas. I usually find male actors unattractive because of the feminine look + heavy makeup, but he looked manly and natural in the show. That fucking mole is hot.)

PERFECTION✨

The storyline, the acting, the cinematography EVERYTHING is impressive. Seo In-guk's acting skills are amazing and I felt the sorrow of his unluckiness and the other characters! Most dramas that gather all the outstanding famous actors don't go well, but this drama makes it stand out every single performance!! I absolutely love the chemistry between Yi Jae & Ji Soo, and this drama portrays life & death beautifully, also of course, So Dam nailed it too! Even in only 4 eps, I felt connected to each of the characters and their past shows how outstanding, and this drama keep me hooked! I am waiting for Part-2 :)

THE CONCEPT IS VERY UNIQUE

I have always avoided historical drama or any drama which contains historical stuff.. but this drama acting + concept+ editing+story+chemistry=10/10..it may seem boring at first to those who is not used to watching historical drama but you will love it. I love the silly UK very much & mu deok is also silly like her master but it may not look like their chemistry is everything.. no hate but seo Yul was the only annoying character to me idk for what reason 😭.. you may hate the other mages at first but they are cool too

GREENEST GREEN FLAG OF THE HISTORY. Easily redefined my idea of my ideal man

This drama was sooo easy to watch. A perfect drama to end the year💜. No heartbreaks, no conflicts, just genuine growth of love.

The male lead is the type of person that once he sets his mind to something, that’s it. He’ll never give up. That is exactly how he felt for the female lead. No hesitations, no doubts, and no what ifs. Just straight out love and dedication.😭 He doesn’t give the girl a reason to doubt him. This man reassures the girl at every point. Most comforting lines where when the girl asked, “aren’t you afraid that I might love your voice more than I love you?”. Then he replied, “well the part that you love about me is still me right?”.😭

Although a bit timid and shy, I especially loved the female lead for being honest. Since she doesn't have much experience with relationships, she tells the guy, "you can be assertive at times" when she feels like they're going too fast, and she doesn't say it in a way that antagonizes the guy, she says it in a soft and comforting way. I cherish how the male lead would react with no sense of anger or sadness. He just literally listens to the girl and they both do everything to strengthen their relationship. Female lead was amazing at portraying her role. Can't wait to watch more of her.💜

Characters: Wholesome characters. Everybody gets a happy ending which is why I said this is a perfect drama to watch when you want to boost your mood and have a positive outlook in life. No jealousy among and between characters. This drama shows us what having supportive people around us feel like🥺

Chemistry: They're first kiss took long but let me tell you once they start, there is no going back😆 They are so clingyyyy and I LOVE it! It was so fun to watch. Got me feeling single and all that. TBH, I WAS KICKING MY FEET and SMILING SO HARD IN JUST THE FIRST 2 EPISODES!!

Music: Traditional music was highlighted in this drama and let me tell you, this drama has completely change my perspective. I suddenly found TRADITIONAL music beautiful and majestic.

At the end of it all, I was reminded that you can be everything you want. The characters in the story are all amazing people in their own way (and the drama especially highlights that those who are in a better position than you or those who you idolize, are just people who started earlier than you). Mo Qingcheng is a doctor, a dubber, an amazing cook, and now a director. Jue Mei is a ceo, a dubber, and a founder of their company. AND MANY MORE CHARACTERSSS

Rewatch value of this for me is so high! COMFORT drama of the year.

Such a gem

I’m up to episode fourteen and what is not to like about this drama so I’m compelled to spread positivity for it’s a masterpiece. Why is it a masterpiece? According to me, myself, and I, if each episode of a drama leaves me in lingering feelings of connectivity and don’t want it to end, then it’s really good.

The drama is purely a love story. In its center is a hearing impaired man who definitely has a colorful backstory of pain and hurt stemming from his hearing loss. He’s now a grown man getting by until a sweet, somewhat naive young woman enters his life. That’s the story…relationship development. Leaving you to enjoy it, i just want to say that if ever there’s a couple you want to root for, it’s this one.

The deliverance is a standout for both main leads. After a few episodes, I feel like I got the hang of signing and became familiar with some. Much credit to the actors for learning and preparing. What lacks in oral speech or even in understanding signing you glimpse it in their expressions….worry, question, joy, concern, love, etc. They really learned and prepared well. This alone just makes me cry in every episode. It’s a beautifully woven love story.

With two episodes left, i hope they can continue the favorable writing. If they do, i can positively say this will easily be in the top list of many for go back rewatch.

the love story is very complicated

I watched it w so much& it started good but the ending was shit. story is very complicated & it holds much realistic stuff but I hate how the fl personality is even though the ml is always ready to sacrifice anything for her. but she doesn't budge about his efforts she only thinks that taking help from the loved one is insulting when it is actually the opposite.. when the person who can't help their loved ones feels pathetic and the ml is very handsome but very underrated I only watched the full show for him

Boyhood takes you on a nostalgic trip to the 1980s, unraveling the lives of students at an agricultural high school in Chungcheong Province. Jang Byung Tae, a small and seemingly powerless kid, decides to change his luck by switching to Buyeo Agricultural High School. The top-notch cast, led by Jang Byung Tae, delivers performances that hit you right in the feels. The drama unfolds with unexpected turns, and a pivotal incident becomes a game-changer for our protagonist. For me, Boyhood is like a comfy blanket, weaving a narrative that feels familiar and comforting. The cast's stellar performances and engaging cameos add depth to the storyline. While I might have imagined a different ending, the finale, albeit a tad rushed, was still well-executed and made sense. Boyhood is a heartwarming journey that resonates with anyone who appreciates relatable stories and a bit of '80s flair.
