Skip Beat has to be one of the greatest Taiwanese dramas I have ever seen. The story is really amazing. It's all based on REVENGE!!! Which, you know, isn't the best things, but the way the theme of revenge is played out throughout the drama really makes it worth it. The importance of this drama is the fact that it is about friendship, and finding your dreams. I loved the focus on determination and perseverance the drama had as well. There wasn't really any focus on romance, being the romantic I am, that's what I was looking forward to, but I don't think Skip Beat needs it. The story was perfect without it, and it does have some ;). This drama was hilarious, and not hilarious read more

To understand the plot, it would help a lot if you have actually read the manga which is still ongoing as of this writing.

I have not watched Ivy Chen before and I must admit that she kinda irritated me during the first few episodes but she definitely grew on me. Kyoko, which is the girl Ivy was portraying doesn't seem to be as animated as her but nevertheless I would say that I cannot imagine any other actress better fit to deliver this role than Ivy ;D

I was glad that the script writers tried to stick to the manga as much as they can especially for Ren's manager who was definitely very much like the one in the manga and L.M.E's flamboyant president.

  • Even though the plots are different from each other, the main concept of a girl trying to change into something better is what links them together. In Skip Beat! the main character is going through a change of look/career/life out of revenge, while in Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge, she is being transformed into a lady for the her own sake. Both dramas are funny, with romance aspirations and with moments that will make you "awwwwww". Not to mention the actors are really skilled. I really recommend both of them.

  • Even though this is not exactly the same, the plot somehow is similar - both are in the showbiz world and have to deal with a really difficult actor. It's a romantic story, also funny :)

I would've rated this nine but ended up rating it 8. Though I think they did A-M-A-Z-I-N-G job with this drama.

I finished this drama yesterday and I don't have much to say about it,
but the whole "Have you kissed before?" and "Do you want me to teach
you?" scene was mindblowing. Seriously, I'm 25 years old but I
squealed like a teenager. GOD IS TESTING ME.

"Ending was such a cliffhanger" - That's 'cos the manga is still ongoing. Even the anime had an ambiguous ending. They've done a really good job with this drama.

The only disappointment was that i was hoping for korean because of the 2 lead male actors but it turned out to be a Taiwanese drama...

I don't understand U guys. I think this drama really sucks. And how can anybody says that Lee Dong Hae isn't the hottest guy in this drama?!

I really wanted them to make it longer or even a second season and allow us to see Gong xi's master piece in portraying Natsu , Kuon, the game of three in Valentine between Ren, Shou and The Beagle, Shou's jalousy, the kisses, the siblings,.. and many other things, for real it could have been better if they followed the manga until the very last end shame on them for making it short but i still loved it so plz make season 2 ^^

I don't think that there will be a second season for several reasons.

    1. The drama left off at about ch79 of the manga (give or take a few plot points). The manga, which started in 2002, is currently on ch186 and there's still a *lot* to be resolved. I'm sure that Skip Beat won't end for at least a couple more years.

    2. Some of the decisions they made with the drama prevent the story from evolving the way it does in the manga. These deviations were meant to provide at least some level of closure, but even if they managed to fudge it a bit more I can't see a way back. (I won't go into the details because I don't want this to be a spoiler comment.)

    3. Casting. I'm amazed they managed to get both Siwon and Donghae in the first place. A second time would be a miracle.

Here's hoping the Korean version (with TOP) is actually produced. Outperforming Ivy will be hard, though.

I loved Ivy's acting and would love to rate higher but the ending was just so sudden and incomplete. There needs to be a second season!

the manga is ongoing so it's normal for the live-action to leave the feeling of incomplete.

I suppose it is complicated if they are trying to keep the drama so similar to the manga but the manga is very long and not completed.

obviously there's going to be a 2nd season so you shouldn't worry about the incompleteness of the first.

I hope so. I enjoyed it but felt I was left hanging at the end too much. However if they do a 2nd season soon then they have set it up perfectly.
