So Perfect Together... ML & FL Amazing Visuals

Update:
I just completed all of the remaining episodes of this drama. If I can rate this more than 10, I would. This drama is beyond skin deep. Watching it is beyond being entertained by Li Xian's mouth-watering visuals. 😄 It's beyond all the giddy feeling that was brought by the actors' undeniable chemistry and the tons of their lovey-dovey scenes.

This drama gave me so much realization. It's all about grappling the ugly side of life, where one has to inevitably lose something or someone in order to build confidence and courage to face the harsh reality. Like for Chen Maidong (Li Xian)- he grew up hating his selfish parents and ended up living with his grandma, he also lost his best buddy in highschool. He became unfeeling, stoic and cold. For Zhuang Jie (Yutong), she encountered a car accident together with her father, which resulted to his death and her, to lose a limb. She was an amputee and this made her insecure and she became obsessed in becoming successful, so no one would dare see her as a loser for being disabled. Liao Tao (Zhuang Jie's mother)- she lost her 1st and 2nd husband respectively. Grandma Chen lost her bestfriend to cancer.

You may see the drama morbid (so many deaths) and sad, given that the ML is a mortician and the FL was a person with a disability. This is not your usual lovestory. There is so much to take in the main leads' characters. Don't just criticize Yu Tong's flirty character, her being so insecure and why she had to do what she did. You have to understand where she's coming from. You got to have an open mind.
The hidden message of this movie, is to accept loss, make the best of what is left, learn to value your family and your risk-worthy relationships above anything... because life is too short. Don't be afraid to love and be happy, after every storm.

Happy Watching!🥰

Early review:
I reserved this drama in WeTV, been waiting for this. I love Li Xian and Zhou Yutong in their previous and respective dramas. Omg! Their team up is just so good. We are all aware that these 2 are excellent actors. Over all we can expect that this is a great drama. The story was a bit slow paced at first but when they started to meet again, everything quickly developed. I admire Li Xian, his portrayal of a cold and aloof man is always spot on (just like in Go go Squid). He always nails it! You can feel his initial resistance but when he starts to fall for the FL, there's no turning back. You can see the character development. I can't think of any other Chinese actor who can play this role effectively, only Li Xian. From his straight and serious facial expression, his manly at the same time boyish charm, Omg! He's absolutely captivating. For Zhou Yutong, she's really pretty, especially that she had grown her hair long for this drama. She's gorgeous. I liked her portrayal in "Begin Again". Her character here is a nice lady who tries to hide her insecurities bcoz of...(well you will know once you watch) but she's strong, intelligent and sweet. She's very resilient. The visuals of these 2 are so amazing, both are fashionable. They really look good together, I hope this will have more than 50 episodes. I recommend this 10/10. I can't wait to watch for the next episodes. And I am already anticipating their next drama. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Mature, Real, and Very Encouraging

Well.. at first I just watch the 1st episode of this cdrama because of Li Xian, honestly I just feeling it up whether I'll like it or not. Who knows that I will be hooked by it and directly finish the first 3episodes. This drama give me a mature-vibe drama that I have longed for long, that, and the unique story of the FL, I am shocked to my core to see the surprise that she is a disabled person (I did not read the synopsis yet). And suddenly, I fall in love with Will Love in Spring. To my knowledge that the other title is much more interesting anyway, but it doesn't matter, this drama still gives me a promising track to a SATISFACTION.

For this ratting probably will change, I dunno about that, but I surely will update this review until I watch all the episodes and give you all the overall review. Caooooo and see u later!!!

UPDATE!!
Finished all 21 episodes. and apparently I refuse to lower my rating. Let me compliment them then.
1. Theme: Unusually Poetic
The drama brings some unusual problematic situation in life. Imperfection. From death, separation, family, acceptance, abandonment, coping mechanism, love, right through until marriage. Personally shocked by the mixed complication of adulthood problems pictured in the drama, they showed it well. Unlike any other c-drama out there that often shows perfection in every aspect (beauty, money, character), this drama gives me a very touching vibe where imperfection could be so beautiful too. Life itself is not perfect. As the story goes, this drama sways my emotions ups and downs, shakes it, but at the end warms my night.
2. Characters: Twisted in a good way
These characters are well written. Just like the theme here, every character has flaws, has problems, has a perfect roles in each and every points. Chen Mai Dong (ML), he's been through a hard separation from his parents in his teenage years, has a very sensitive heart that leaves him a big scar of abandonment, scare and very reluctant to be honest with his heart, stubborn like a donkey (hard to start things move, but will extremely harder to stop once they walk), difficult to express his feelings. Zhuang Jie (FL), she's faced an extremely drastic and traumatic experience of lost in her teenage years, handling her sadness and tears by smiling and laughs, persistent and hard worker, lively and a smooth flirt, spontaneous, afraid to commit and open up herself. I will not explain other characters, but just noted that every character inside the story represent each and every part of our new society nowadays.
3. Acting: Better
Both Li Xian and Zhou Yu Tong in this drama are amazing. Their chemistry looks so real, honestly their interactions, conversations and gestures looks normal, comes easy, and clicking (maybe we can wait for their dating news? haha). In his previous works before Meet Yourself, Li Xian, get so many complains about his flat face acting. But here, I applaud him, even his small gestures, eyes, and body language is getting better and better to dive deep into Chen Mai Dong. I love him here even better than in Meet Yourself, maybe mostly it's because Chen Mai Dong-character itself convincing as a real person. As for Zhou Yu Tong, I never doubt her acting, she is an excellent performer.
4. Setting, Camera, Props, Make-up: Best
I have no complain here, only compliment. I can see that quote "If there's a will, there's a way" works, and in Will Love in Spring there is really a WAY.
5. Conclusion: Hopefully there will be more of these kind of c-dramas to come!! Mature, real, and very encouraging.

Entertaining yet Annoying

Story: Zhuang jie (FL) lost half of her right-leg in her teenage year and it gave a huge impact to her personality in the future. Chen Maidong (ML) is a high-school close friend of Jie.

The story is actually quite good. I really love the family interactions (esp. Jie's little sister, Chen Nai Nai, the mother, etc etc..), the neighborhoods, the small town vibes. Yet, the hardest part of watching this drama is the immature & selfish behaviors of Jie. If, I repeat, If Jie lost the whole part of her right-leg and that caused her having the inferiority issues, it would be understandable. In actual, people didn't really notice her disability as she walks and runs like normal people do. (Sorry if this seems inappropriate but you know what I mean, right?)

The scriptwriter is a woman, so it's clear: Chen Maidong is a man written by woman. In real life there's no man like him: always accept and forgive. Too good to be true!

Acting: Zhou Yutong's acting skill is great. She nailed it. Her natural gestures are always entertaining to watch. However, her role as Jie is somewhat challenging. Her unstable emotion is at the level where audiences like me can't really bear to watch. Yutong definitely needs to play in other drama with a better script. Li Xian's acting as Maidong is quite good. The chemistry of the lead couple is sweet and beautiful. Once again, it's like Yutong's expertise. I also love the soundtrack as well as the cinematography.

Rewatch? Big no. Can't stand watching a female lead whose moods are swinging a lot. Moreover, the scene where Jie slammed a-handmade-porcelain-doll, it's way too stupid.

Flawed journey to common ground

Li Xian + hometown + modern drama, as Meet Yourself fan, these three keywords easily bring me to watch. The main premise of these two drama also quite similar. But the core is different.

Will Love in Spring tell us a story of two lovers with dark past. Their life collide a bit when they were young, so they have fond memory of each other. But essentially they just start knowing each other in their adult life. At the point when they already have established personal and professional life. These two falling in love and find a way to unite their vastly different life. It's a journey to find common ground. Their journey is not a wholesome, fairy tale one. It's messy sometimes, with impulsiveness, with misjudgement, with mistake. But that's the point of relationship, the journey to understanding.

They also bring us to a story about death and life. Coming from the nature of ML's job and FL's circumstance. They also bring us to a journey of understanding. About dream, about reality. About joy and sorrow. About past, about future. About ego, about humility. I really appreciate this drama for bring a real struggle without sugar coating it.

They tackle taboo topic in a very honest way without making it overdramatic (except the last scene, that one remind me that this is just a drama). But at the same time, I find this drama not really have THE climax. Quite flat at the end.

I'm not fond of the main characters, but doesn't mean I hate them. I find them not relatable because we have very different set of moral compass. But I find them interesting, a realistic take away of a life that so different from mine. I have sympathy for them. Li Xian and Zhou Yu Tong acting are so natural and organic. The rest of the cast acting also very good and their characters have depth and their own story, feels alive and real. My favourite characters are Grandma Lin and Uncle He. So I must click the spoiler button to tell you how cruel this drama to me ㅠ.ㅠ It's bittersweet, but I forgive you writer...

Sometimes this drama also give you a lot quotes from books and movies, some people may love it, some may hate. It can be sound preachy or you may love it for all reference it throw. Personally, I enjoy the reference dumping but find the dialogue not really natural. The cinematography is good. Beautiful sceneries, colour grading that suitable for the moods, interesting angle shoots, nice songs.

Overall, it's a good slice of life drama.

Will Definitely Love in the Spring

I’m a fan of both actors. I screamed like a bitch when I saw that they’re both in this series together. Then I found out it’s a hometown setting. I screamed some more.

The story was very simple. 2 kids met in high school. ML helped FL overcome her disability by treating her like a normal person. They didn’t focus much on their teenage years. The focus was on them as adults. Now, in their early 30s, they’re living in different places, different careers, values and lifestyles. The one thing they have in common- love. Intense, loyal and everlasting love for one another. You could FEEL it through the screen.

ML: Typical cold at first but so kind and loving. He worked at funeral parlor so trigger warning if you’re sensitive to death and loss. Li Xian captivated me with his good boy handsomeness and bad boy charms. I love that he never asked FL to compromise anything and remained supportive.

FL: hot mess express but with a big heart and very strong personality. I love that she pursued him and never backed down. I love that she didn’t allow her disability to be her identity. They showed her struggles but the struggles were real and raw.

Side characters: adorable town, lovely people, the usual

Why you should watch it: it’s short, sweet and simple. No annoying side characters, no dumb misunderstandings (they get resolved very quickly), they communicate, they show a lot of affection, mature relationship & women empowerment.

Why you should not watch it: if you’re disgusted by attractive people kissing and falling in love.

a Very Modern Take on Relationship.

For most series I say it needs more eps but I think for WLIS 21 eps was Best.

The Plot was great, The start was Great. It was all Great Just what I expected from two of the Best.
Then It got real annoying in the Middle. FL is independent woman who has her own goals and dreams and Won't Bend over for anyone and thats Okay but Her actions at times ooze selfishness, she doesn't even take ML's feelings into consideration. I mean You do You, I am all for it but NEVER let your actions hurt others in any shape or form.
So Some people may find FL annoying at times.
ML is like a SPONGE who's just there accepting everything and anything FL throws at her and always trys to understand Others not just FL.
And then there's the usual CLiche of trauma, insecurities, Mini break and Getting back Together for HE .

All in all It was a great series.
Both Actors performed Great!!!

Enlightenment is, at anytime and under any circumstances, you live your life with a calm heart.

Zhuang Jie's character is a poignant portrayal of strength and resilience, as she navigates the intricacies of life with grace and determination, despite the hurdles she faces. Her encounter with Chen Mai Dong, a mortician from her hometown who used to be her former schoolmate, sets the stage for a touching love story that unfolds against the backdrop of life and death.

Realistic Drama

This is one of those dramas that are close to reality. Good job for tackling on a difficult subject about death and the honorable job of morticians who are often shied away by people just because of the nature of their work.

The drama also features scenic views of Nanping (I am not sure if this is a real place in China or just fiction) that I am tempted to visit the place.

It is an excellent drama but unfortunately not my genre, the reason for my 8/10 rating.

Zhou Yutong always a good actress we are all impressed by her quality I like Zhou Yutong the most her smile
The first reason to watch this drama is Zhou Yutong the second reason is his long hair.
The last drama I saw her in was Begin Again , nothing but you she looked cute when her hair was short in that drama and now she has grown her hair in the drama now she looks absolutely gorgeous.
I haven't had the chance to watch her other dramas after Begin Again, nothing but you
But now I am very excited to watch the new drama. Let's see what happened to next in this drama.

The heavy theme of death in this drama is presented in all it's versions

Ok let's start by saying this is such a mature story, I couldn't stop crying in the last 5 ep, of course the acting is great from all characters even "the goose" :D
Even if the theme of death and loosing someone is strongly presented throughout the series, it was well done : being a kid or a grandma we all experience something like that in life and watching this series is such a comfort, trying to comfort the viewers well done.
the disability representation is good, although we don't see much of the physical struggles, we do get a good picture of the emotional struggles, fmc' s thoughts on relationship and striving to improve to make up for her shortcomings, and the mmc accepting her the way she is, and not seeing her disability as a disadvantage.
( just some of the good points of the scenario apart from the different ideas each generation believed in... understanding each other specially the new life style of modern woman, the representation of the country and working together to improve hometown....)

the way each character had enough screen time to know their story, and the grandmas oh I was so attached to them more that main characters 😂

just a good story, a good acting, heavy theme, simple production, all in all executed perfectly.

To be human is to be insecure and fragile

That's my take on this drama.

I have always been impressed with Zhou Yu Tong's acting prowess and selection of dramas. So, I know her drama will definitely not be typical.

Here, she is portrayed as toxic (in terms of relationships) but honestly, don't we all?

Humans, by their nature, are complex beings with emotions, vulnerabilities, and insecurities. As the eldest daughter and disabled at that, Zhuang Jie felt an intense sense of responsibility for others, having an inclination toward overachieving, struggling with anxiety, people-pleasing, and establishing boundaries in adult relationships.

Being human also encompasses strength, resilience, and the capacity to overcome challenges. This is what I find sweet because she finds her strength from Chen Mai Dong. A man who is non-judgmental but also won't take any shit. This is exactly what Zhuang Jie needed to complete her growth as a human.

The theme of this drama is death - which makes a lot of viewers uncomfortable, but quoting CMD - "death is unavoidable. It's not the end but rather the completion of a process"

Which I find rather true and it's not dark. It's just real.

So if you want a real drama, intense chemistry, character development, and something that makes you ponder on life, go for it
