Most Action-Packed BL Ever

Manner of Death was such an adventure to get through. I felt like one minute I knew where the story was going, and then the next, I had no clue. This kept me on the edge of my seat throughout my binge-watch, I legit stayed up till 4 in the morning cause each episode would leave off on a cliffhanger, and I just felt like I had to keep going. Manner of Death is definitely one to remember for its crazy adventures and deep-rooted plot.

Let's Dive In.

I want to start off by talking about the plot. When we look back at other BL plots, they're usually not very deep or complicated, but in this series, I felt like each moment was mapped out perfectly. From the first episode to the last, everything fit like a glove. The only thing I had a hard time with was keeping up with the many characters they had, and how each of them impacted the plot. These big revelations would happen, and I would completely be lost because I wasn't sure who they were talking about. Towards the end though, I was able to remember names with faces. Another thing was that they kind of dragged on at times in the first few episodes, so I had to force myself to watch, but I was hooked by about episode 7 or 8. I think that the plot was my favorite part of the series. Very well done.

Let's move onto the actors/characters. While I do love Tul and Max together, I will say that I wasn't really pining for them to get together in this. I don't know if it was because they only got so much time with each other outside of the very hectic plot, but most of the time, their moments felt forced. Their intimate moments were good, don't get me wrong on that (epically the handcuffing on the stairwell, idk why but I loved that so much), but everything felt either rushed or without explanation; why did they like each other? The proposal during the last episode was good, except why did Tan ask Bun to marry him when they hadn't even been dating? It felt off and not usual, but the proposal itself was clever and sweet. Let's move on to the somewhat side couple That and Sorawit (It took me a moment to realize his name was That lol) I liked how sentimental and caring Sorawit was towards Nam and That. He served as kind of everyone's helper and kept getting himself into messes that he had no business getting into. The same goes for That. While I liked that he was kind of tough and was there to also help, they were just kids and kept getting themselves in mixed-up situations. While there was no confirmation of this couple ever, they were teased throughout the series and at certain points they were cute, but most of the time they just felt like close friends. Moving onto the third(?) pairing, Dr. Oat, and Inspector M. I really liked Inspector, at first I was so sure that he was going to end up being the bad guy, but I was way off. The actor Great is overly attractive which made me pine for him to be with literally anyone, guy or girl, and they teased that a bit at the very last episode with Dr. Oat, but it was obviously way too late. I'm pretty sure Dr. Oat had a crush on Bun, but it was never said so we'll never know. Both those characters were perfect for this story, and maybe we can get a spin-off with them (????).

Let's move onto the darker parts of this series. While there was an 18+ warning at the beginning of each episode, I still felt like there should've been something else to warn of how gruesome this series was going to be. I'm not a person that gets triggered by stuff, but some of these scenes were hard to sit through. Watching Jane get hung twice was not easy at all, I couldn't even watch the second one. I definitely think there needs to be multiple warnings.

I really liked how this show focused on human trafficking, something that happens all around the world but is not nearly talked about enough. Most of the time it is with people in high places, so seeing the captain, judge, commander, and whoever else all in high place running this human trafficking ring wasn't surprising (sadly). These revelations were incredible though, and I loved the way I was shook after each person was announced to be part of this ring.

Overall, Manner of Death was a fantastic watch, and I highly recommend this. All of the actors put on an amazing performance, but I want to really give Mint and Meiko an extra pat on the back. These women put on a beautiful performance and I really hope to see them in future series. The OST also went perfectly with this drama, and at times really did have me spooked out. This is for sure something people should watch (warning if you're sensitive to gruesome scenes and heavy topics though).

Cute and Simple Love Story

You Make Me Dance was a magical love story between a debtor and a creditor. Once again, Korea is serving with these amazing BL love stories that they have been putting out lately, and this one is not short of that at all. Shi On and Hong Seok are brought to the screen with so much story to tell, and they executed it beautifully.

Let's Dive In.

The only real argument I have is that it was too short. I believe that they have recently turned it into a movie, so good for them, but I still wished for there to be either more episodes or a longer running time. However, the showrunners did an amazing job at the pacing of the show. Nothing felt too slow or too fast, and there weren't any filler moments or extraness that wasn't needed, and because of that, the plot flowed very easily and nicely.

The actors did an amazing job, and I could really feel their emotions through the phone. Young Woo would have to be the better actor in my opinion. Especially since this was his debut series, I can't wait to see him in future projects. The only negative I can say is that while this is supposed to be a story about a dude following his dream of becoming a dancer, Young Woo was obviously not one. Most of his moves were very sloppy and not put together at all, but again, this is super nit-picky. (It might've even been pretty neat if they used an actual professional dancer..?)

The chemistry between the two wasn't all too noticeable up until about episode 4 and then it starts getting better. Granted, the pinky scene on the bus was the cutest moment ever between them. I liked how they were both completely different, yet when they were together, they balanced off of one another and created really nice moments. My only argument would have to be the last episode. only twelve minutes to go, and all of a sudden Hong Seok just ups and wants to break up. Obviously, it was because of his boss, but I wish I would have seen more of that conflict in his emotions, specifically when he was in bed with Shi On would've been perfect cause it would've led the audience to believe that something was about to happen. I think the ending was super cute even though it was a bit too "Disney" if that makes sense.

Overall, this was a really easy watch and a quick one too. I would definitely recommend this for someone wanted to see something lighthearted and happy. While I really did enjoy this, I think this series doesn't stand out too much from the others that we've seen like Mr. Heart or Where You Eyes Linger, so it'll probably be forgotten about, but for the time that I spent with it, I've had much fun.

Outstanding Performances From an Amazing Cast !

I'm not the one to watch movies, but as soon as I had heard that Hello Stranger was getting a sequel, I just HAD to tune in. What started on some rocky shores ended up being a really nice story about acceptance and love. As much as I did enjoy this movie, I still loved the series better, since it just had certain aspects that shows can do that movies can't. But still, a stellar cast that did a stellar job on this movie, and I'm excited to see them in future projects!

let's Dive In

The first 50 minutes of the movie were a bit slow and felt weirdly comedic. I was going into this thinking that I was already not going to like it, but I still gave it a chance. I was put off a little bit by us being introduced to Xavier and Cytstal and seeing that they're in a relationship since the series left off on Xavier and Mico. Some of the situations that happen felt a bit too cliche, like Xavier and Mico picking the same number and living in the same room. But, this is a BL, so I wasn't too shocked. There were so many circumstances that I felt a little put off by, one being the fact that Xavier pees on Mico to help him with his jellyfish sting. Very disturbing. They were trying to make it look like Mico and Xavier were having an intimate moment when Kookai went looking for them, but this just came off as weird and unnecessary since it didn't do anything to drive the plot. I think the only thing that I genuinely thought was funny was Xavier walking in on Mico after he had just gotten out of the shower. Anything else felt like they were trying to be too humorous and it came off as trying too hard.

The latter half of the movie was the best. I loved the way they connected the flashback scenes to the present, and it looked beautiful. Mico's What if" scene was beyond spectacular. Talking about Mico, JC did a spot-on job at betraying Mico's grief and hurt. I was left almost in tears at his performance. The same goes with Tony. His performance in the confession scene in front of everybody did leave me in tears since confessions and coming outs are the two things that are a definite tear-jerker for me. I loved how we were hit with the truth, and I could see where Mico was coming from in having a hard time trusting Xavier again. This is why I wasn't too excited about them getting back together so quickly, but again, it's a movie, so they have to give us our happy ending. However, I would've loved it if they took some time to regroup and kind of reestablish their relationship, and then maybe a few weeks later, they could've gotten together. But, the best line in the entire movie was "Hello, boyfriend" a def tear-jerker. I also loved Xavier and Crystal's talk on the beach. I liked that Crystal came to terms with the fact that he just had to move on from her. Parents splitting up isn't easy, but she was too old in my opinion to be acting the way she did. Basically holding Xavier hostage and making him love you is not real love. but in the end, I'm glad she understood. Mico and Xavier's kiss was fantabulous. It had meaning behind it, it was gentle and soft, and I will forever have a love for Mico and Xavier.

Simon's character was a nice touch to the series, but he still felt too coincidental. Mico's favorite author happens to be coming to this small little group camp trip and he happens to be hot and also likes Mico? Again, it's BL, so I get it, but it's too foreseen. However, he does help Mico in understanding his feelings, so I'm not too mad. JunJun once again had my heart. He is such a good friend and I liked that we see something underlying that might happen between him and Crystal. Again, I still wanted to see more of him and see him have his own story besides being the friend that helps everybody but himself.

Kookai and Seph were nice too. I think their situation was a bit frivolous, but I can see where Seph is coming from in feeling bad that Kookai won't be open about their relationship. Speaking of Kookai, her wardrobe in this movie was amazing. Each outfit she had on matched her so well, and I was dying to have every single fit that she did. Their problem was easily solved by the end, but I wish we could've still seen a kiss between the two.

Those two jerks that were Xavier's friend had that punch coming for them. Glad he put them in their place. The other gay couple was cute, even though they served no real purpose to the plot.

Overall, this movie was good, the ending was sweet, and I'm glad that they got to be open with each other in their relationship. I would've rather they made this into a series so we could've gone more in-depth, but at least we got what we could.

Entertaining at Least ...

Don't go into this BL with many expectations, if any at all. This series served as a decent watch and was at least somewhat entertaining due to the cast's cuteness, but that's about all they had going for them. I want to be easy on this review, seeing as this was a brand new group of actors, some of which this was their first BL and series ever. But, even with that, I can't help but deter the stiffness and staleness that was this series.

Let's Dive In.

Before we can even get into the actual plot, let's talk about those cut scenes and those disturbing panels. I need to know who thought it was a good idea to have the boys be shirtless?? It left me highly uncomfortable, and I felt like I was in a very awkward position. Why couldn't they just be in their regular school clothes? What about them being shirtless helped the series in any way (especially since none of them were chiseled or anything of the sort. They just had ordinary bodies, so what was the point)? It's a small problem that I had that didn't affect me too much, but I genuinely cringed each time.

Let's get into the plot that was basically nothing at all. It was super cliche, super cheesy, and super repetitive. how many times did somebody need to fall for Chol, and just how many times did we need to see Prab get jealous? Once would have been plenty. This series didn't need 13 episodes AT ALL. If they would've gotten rid of half the repeated drama and maybe some very unnecessary characters, then we could've ended it at episode 10 (and maybe even less). All the conflicts were frivolous and stupid. Chol needed to go to the hospital over a sprained ankle? Did two dudes need to be there to take care of him? And what about Chol getting hit in the head with a soccer ball, did everyone and their momma need to rush over and freak out like he had a heart attack? I understand that they needed something to drive this non-existent plot, but the amount of insubstantial conflict we had was ridiculous. Let get into the unnecessary plots. There was no need for them to have Chol's dad get hurt. It didn't do anything, it didn't drive the plot, and they could've had Prab's mom accidentally let slip that her and Chol's dad went to university over dinner or something. All these plots left some episodes feeling dragged out and boring. If anything, I could've skipped episodes 3-7 and still been able to keep up with the plot (cause, once again, it was nothing).

Let's get into the acting. Now, I don't want to be too harsh on these boys since they seemed pretty new, but holy hell, what the actual freak was that? I can't tell you the number of times I cringed at these boys on screen. Each actor was stiff and stale as hell. Phu (Chol) was the main lead and he only had one emotion; nothing. He kept a straight face the entire series. At some points, I was wondering if the actor himself was questioning why he was on this series, cause he didn't look like he wanted to be there at all. Folk (Prab) was a bit better, but no much. There's nothing you can really do when you're working with others that just don't have much talent. The other actors aren't listed on MDL for whatever reason, but Maping and those twins were on the top of the "how were they hired?" list. I also think some of this could have been due to these very unpleasant and long pauses. There were too many times that the characters were just staring and smiling at each other that left this very uneasy feeling in the air. I thought they might have forgotten a line and were doing something to just kill time. Whatever it was, it was awkward and it created tense feelings. Had they had hired some better actors, I believe that this series could've been rather decent than just meh ( I will give props to Kaow, Khun, the dad, and the mom who were on the better side of acting. Other not listed weren't good, but they weren't the worst either (mediocre?)).

I think one reason why this series also didn't work was because of the terrible subtitles. Now, I know this show wasn't made for my intended audience, but good Lord Jesus, those subtitles had to be the worst I have ever seen. I had watched on Dramacool at first, so I thought it was just whoever had done those subtitles but come to find out, that's just how they were cause I switched to Line TV and it wasn't any better. Because of me trying to decipher what the subtitles were saying, I missed key problems and conflicts (for example, I didn't realize Chol was talking to a secret admirer until Tri exposed himself. I had thought it was Prab the entire time since he had a frog on his bag and I tried to make connections there. whoops).

This series was slow-burn as hell. Now, I love me a good slow burn, but this was just ridiculous. How come it takes 13 episodes for the leads to get together? Once again, it was dragged on and elongated for no reason at all. All that unnecessary obstacles in the leads way were just so unimportant and not eventual. Chol and Prab were...meh. For one, they were step-brothers, so right off the bat, it's hella weird. Chol had no emotions, and Prab was a bit pervasive at times, but I will say, they were just decent and entertaining to watch. Chol looked too cute in his pajamas, and I did at times like Prab's sarcasm. But, how come at the end, everyone is okay with their relationship, as if their not stepbrothers? very unrealistic and weird, but I guess it was added for the emotional appeal. Also, that kiss was incredibly cringey (why were Chol's eyes open? like huh?...), and the dad walking in was too predictable. But, I will say, that I liked the ultimatum he gave them, and I actually kind of wished that they would've explored those more until he just says nevermind. The best thing about this show was probably the situation with the parents. It was an actual conflict that I found amusement in, except I think it was resolved too quickly. I also liked how this show handles peer pressure and following one's heart. Even though Chol was smart enough to get into Medical school he just wanted to be a photographer and didn't let peer pressure get to him. And vice versa for Maping. He wanted to follow his heart in being a florist, but he felt like he had to get into medical school because of his family.

Now, let's get into Maping and this weird love triangle (but not really) that he was in. I actually loved that he turned down Mhok. For one, Mhok had this very creepy vibe to him (and he's a grown man, like wtf), so I wasn't really here for them at all, but most series would've had them get together, but instead, Maping had never even grown feelings for him in the first place. The scandal that went on was pretty accurate in terms of student and teacher relationships. I think they still should've fired the teacher. If they had really looked at the surveillance cameras then they would've seen that Mhok grabs Maping's hands, which isn't appropriate at all, but whatever. The underlying clash with both the teachers was not looked at enough. It felt like their plot wasn't completed and that could've been something fun to see if it was decently plotted out.

Khun and Kaow were the best couple out of all of them. They went through trying to get to know one another better, and then actually had a very well-plotted out story. I loved the way Kaow had asked him out with the cake, and I liked their dynamic a lot. They were still a bit cringe at times, but not nearly as bad as the others were. If anything, I would rather see next season be more about them than anyone else.

Tri and those twins were the worst thing ever. For a second there, I thought they were going to have then all three be in a polyamorous relationship, but then they have Tri reveal that he's in love with Chol which was a poor decision to make seeing as we had not seen any prior actions form him to indicate that. But, those twins were just downright bad. They did nothing but annoy Tri the entire time, and be weirdly obsessed with him. If anything, they could've been cut to save some screen time.

We see something going on between the delivery man and the Prab's friend (sorry, they're not listed on MDL, so I don't remember names). I actually was kind of excited to see more of them, but we got nothing at all. I hope that next season, they'll focus more on their relationship.

I would complain that this show had way too many characters, but at this point, I'm used to it. It took me up until episode 7 to actually remember names with faces, but whatever. Some other small points, what happened to Sam? He just kind of disappeared and never came back. It was revealed that he too had a crush on Chol (BAD. He was a grown man, ew) but then he just goes away. I felt like I had missed an episode or something, but for some reason, they decided to cut the confession scene between Chol and Prab. Why do that? No wonder it felt off that they had just gotten together without any prior conversations or anything. Poor decision-making

It was already confirmed that they're getting a second season which I think is not needed at all, but oh well. A new secret admirer, who could it possibly be??? I can already tell next season is going to be a bunch of unnecessary drama between the leads. Quite frankly, I don't know what more they can show in this since everything had already been done. But I guess we'll see.

Some things I liked: I liked that we don't see some BL-obsessed fangirls or some jealous ex-girlfriend. This was one of the few Thai BL series that don't do that. Good for them. Although it's pretty unrealistic for everyone in a university to be gay/bi/pan etc, I still enjoyed that nobody had to "come out" and everybody was okay with everyone liking the same sex.

Overall, this series, was just meh. I kept watching cause I think that all of the cast is pretty adorable, and I also think they tried their best with what they were given and wanted to keep watching to support them (even though it was rough). I wouldn't recommend this series, since there are just better ones out there, but if you're looking for a slow-burn or just something pretty carefree and unrealistic to watch, then this is the series for you.

Quick Entertainment

While I wouldn't say this is the BL of the year, I still had a lot of fun watching each individual couple and their story. I think that this could've been better had this been kind of like En Of Love and each couple got at least three-four episodes to enhance the story and go deeper in plot. It was a bit depressing to see that each episode was only about 20 minutes long. That's barely enough time to do any storytelling with. If anything, they could've made these episodes at least 40-45 minutes long and give us an actual thought-out plot. However, most of the couples did use their time wisely, and I was left entertained for the most part.

Let's Dive In

I'll go from my most favorite to least favorite episode. Most episodes were on the same scale, nothing much too better than the other. Although, some really did just do better (lol).

Night (Jimmy) and Mek (Tommy) - 9/10

I would PAY to see their story fully fleshed out into a 12 episode series. The entire vibe that this episode gave off was absolutely radiant. Out of all the episodes, this one used their allowed time the best. Nothing felt too rushed, and nothing was left unsaid. The plot was something pretty new. Since it takes place back in the 1990s, things are different, and their writing to each other, and using payphones, and it's too much for me to handle. Mek makes these itty-bitty origami stars that I think are the most heavenly thing I have ever experience. They write back and forth to each other, sending pictures and origamis and just having a fun time. Jimmy was the best thing ever. I love how he has the child-like aspect in his acting. He is literally an adult child (in a good way though). His sitting on the phone with Mek was just absolutely precious. I loved the way they met, and how the "a thousand stars" thing work out. I have a few nit-picky things which are that their relationship didn't necessarily feel like a relationship, and more like they were becoming close friends (LOL). This might be due to them only having 15 minutes to tell a story, but as I said, had this been longer, I think I would've been able to see their relationship grow further. The last thing, Please for the love of God, these boys do not pass as high school students. Hell, they barely pass as college students. It could've been better had it been the summer that they come back from college and had met through close friends or something along those lines. Anyways, I loved this story so much, Both Tommy and Jimmy did an excellent job, and I can't wait to see them in future series.

Jedi (Kimmon) and Ray (Copter) - 9/10

Come on now, this was the cutest thing ever. I just want to sit here and talk about how much I love Copter. He played this stubborn, stoic character in Geny Y, but here, he is just all bubbly and happy, and smiley, and I can't explain how much I love him. This was a concept I had never seen played out (a little bit in Great Men Academy, but not in this aspect), and it was beautiful. I liked how we could see the obvious difference between Jedi in the VR and the real Jedi. Everything really was just an illusion up until the end. Which, confused me a bit. So was Jedi actually in the game? Was he actually pretending not to know Ray? I would've liked more of an understanding of the ending, but I guess we can interpret it for ourselves. Kimmon was an absolute joy as well. He basically played the same character, but with completely different attitudes. I think I liked the real Jedi better just because we should never assume the traits or characteristics of actual celebrities and consider them to be the nicest people ever, which Ray gets a bit of a taste for up until the end. While I would love for real Jedi and Ray to get closer, I think it felt too rushed in the end. It was definitely there to give us a happy ending, but had this been an actual series, I would've wanted them to take more time before getting close like that. Overall, I really enjoyed this episode and think it would've made for a good full-length series.

Xiaoping (Lay) and Peem (Yoon) - 8/10

This episode reminded me of the Kao and Pete one from Our Skyy. This was the episode adventure, in which they go on some hunt to find something. For these two, it was a hunt for Peem to be able to...find love? That part was a bit confusing. I'm not sure if they were searching for Peem's true love or for luck in his love life, or for him to get his ex-girlfriend back. But besides that, I think this episode was pretty cute. I loved them going through the maze and us getting a wide birdseye view of them. I liked how Xiao had an already established crush on Peem and tries to help him with his problems while also trying to get the courage to tell Peem that he likes him. The only thing I was a bit confused about was the sparkling ray around Xiao at the beginning of the episode. What was that supposed to represent? that Peem was seeing his true love? I don know. once again, maybe it's something for us to interpret, but I would've liked to see that beam of light around him at the end to connect us to the beginning and give a clear understanding. Peem's actions were a bit ambiguous at the beginning. I'm pretty sure he was on the verge of committing suicide, which if that were the case, then I wish it would've been more spoken about throughout the series, and instead of trying to get back with his ex-girlfriend that made him feel this way, we build upon his confidence in himself and knowing that he can get passed her and move on. I felt like it was dropped too quickly, especially something as serious as harming oneself. Also, I think Xiao telling Peem that he liked him was cute, and once again they gave us a happy ending for the beck of it. Even though I liked that we get to see them go back and redo all of the rituals, I still would've liked it if Peem thought about it for a bit, since it was not obvious that he had any prior feelings for Xiao like Xiao did for Peem. But once again, with only 15 minutes, you've got to up with a resolution fast; there's just no time for extra. Overall, this was a cute adventure, and I enjoyed seeing Lay again.

Mini (Nat) and Titan (Max)- 7/10

This was a surprise to me how much I actually enjoyed this episode. I believe it was a bit entertaining with these two because I feel like they have spent enough time together for me to actually ship them. It was a great creative choice to have them do a montage of them practicing together cause we see them grow in their relationship and see that they've spent quite a lot of time together. This was one of the sillier episodes perse. While I'm not too big of a fan of the comedic BL's, I will say that this one did have that aspect about it that I liked. For one, I just loved the height difference between Nat and Max. I'm a sucker for height differences. The only thing I can say that I'm not fond of is Nat's acting. I'm pretty sure he's still brand new in the acting field, but a lot of his expression and emotions are so stoic and so monotoned. I hope he can improve in his acting before any other roles are given to him. I don't get how when it comes to jujitsu or karate there is only ever one move. There are plenty of moves in these activities but these series only give one defined move. Would love to see literally anything else. I didn't understand Mini's reasoning for breaking the 4th wall. It was to narrate what was going on, but I would've liked to see it instead of being told. Overall, this was a decent watch and left me entertained for the most part.

Pierce (Ohm) and Typhoon (Fluke) - 6/10

Confused is the only word that comes to mind for this episode. This did not leave a good first impression. While I was so excited to see Ohm and Fluke again (since I hadn't seen them since UWMA), I was rather disappointed in this. For one, Fluke had little to no screen time. I wanted to see more of him so badly. I'm absolutely in love with Fluke's acting, but this show (just like My Bromance - 5 Year Later) did not do him justice. Fluke is an incredible actor! Use him! But even with the time we see him, he did an incredible job, especially at the end. So many things went wrong. I liked that they already had an established relationship, and I liked how this was more on the serious side like others weren't. It's an actual thing for someone's love to not be on the same scale after some time, but it was not done right in this ep. Peirce spends most of his time in the studio with Marc, in which we get little hints that Marc might've grown feelings for him. because of this, Peirce and Typhoon are having a bit of a struggle in their relationship. The end did NOBODY justice. There were so many things left unsaid. Let's start with the fact that Peirce told Marc that Typhoon was only his brother. Why did we not see anything further for that? we should've at least seen Typhoon learning that Peirce had said that, or Marc figuring out that they're not just brothers. I needed something more on that cause it's obvious that Peirce is not ready to be public about their relationship. By the end, we see that Typhoon and Peirce land in an argument which leads to them breaking up (or not?). But this was so chaotic and so not realistic that I was left confused and needing another episode to fully understand. Peirce says they need a break and Typhoon doesn't want one so he cries and says "let's act like we're in love" and Peirce is like "sure" and they kiss? No, that's not okay. Pierce forgot their anniversary, Peirce lied about his relationship with Typhoon, Pierce had some underlying something going on with Marc, and he wasn't being open with Typhoon about anything. They weren't a good couple at all, and if anything, they needed that break to be reminded how much they love each other. Overall, too many things were left unsaid, and they aren't a healthy couple at all. But, because I love Fluke so much, and I do love their pairing, they get a somewhat decent score, as well as they had a few cute moments that I wish were built upon further.

MooJoom (First) and Xin (Ja) - 4/10

No, just no. This ep was so out of whack that I literally have no words. While the concept of the show was actually pretty neat, I think that this would've worked out better had it not been a romance and rather just a show about a dude and his pet and how they live throughout their life (kind of like those kid movies in which their pet turns into a human and they go through wild adventures together). But for the most part, I was uncomfortable. Especially when I thought they were going to kiss, it really hurt my stomach. It's literally a cat like the human Moojoom is not real and in fact, a literal cat. But, I think that First did an excellent job in his acting, which is why this isn't sitting lower than a 4. Actually, I was quite impressed with this couple, and hope to see them in other shows (one where there aren't any animals). Overall, the acting was good, but the fact that it was a cat just was too much for me to handle.

I'd say that overall, these were pretty good. I think there are even some episodes that would make for a killer series, and that I can see doing well in numbers. One thing that I will say I really enjoyed about this series was that there weren't any ads or brand deals. I think this is the first series ever in which I can't remember a single time that an ad was used. If so, then they did an incredible job at keeping it subtle. I would recommend this for a watch since it only took me a couple of hours to finish, but this will most likely be yet another forgotten series.

A Very Fun Watch

I found out that this was one of those, "girl turns into a boy" type series right before I started watching. While I was going into this with zero expectations, I was indeed impressed by just how much I enjoyed this series, as well as how much I can say that the plot itself didn't bother me one bit.

Let's Dive In.

Now, I find my opinion on this plot to be a bit split in half. One part of me thinks this was a way to put an imaginary safe net just in case the homophobes found it a problem that two guys were falling in love. I just imagined them shouting out of a window to an imaginary mob saying, "Wait, guys, it's fine, he's actually a girl!" I don't actually believe that their intent was to have a fallback just in case things went south, but, I can see where other people are coming from if that's how they felt. The other part of me sort of looked past it to just really sit back and enjoy the series.

I loved Love. The girl and the boy. I honestly just had a blast watching Love navigate her way into being a boy and discovering her new body and how to "act like a man". It was funny and one of the best aspects of the series.

This BL was new in many different ways. The concept of there being a game that had a magical unicorn at the end was hilarious. We hadn't seen much of that in other series, as well as the academy part. It felt very up notch and secretive. I loved the competition parts of this the most. The VR scenes were the best, and I had a ball while watching.

Tangmo was an incredible character. I immediately pined for him and Love as soon as they met. They went through a lot of trials and tribulations, but in the end, they were able to come together.

Overall, I really recommend this series. I don't know if I would really categorize it as BL, but in any way, it was a fun watch and nice competitiveness that keeps you on your toes.

Cute, but Short

To My Star was a precious BL that knocked off the few hours I had left in my day. I have the same argument here that I do the other Korean BL's; how come this is so short?

Let's Dive In.

One key problem with this drama is that it's way too short. While it had a decent story and good acting, it still just not enough time to tell this story in full throttle. I wanted to learn more about Kang Seo Joon and Han Ji Woo. How come Han Jo Woo is so brooding like he is? What about him made Kang Seo Joon fall in love? Lot's of unanswered questions that definitely needed an ending.

The main leads had great chemistry. The only problem I had was the fact that Kang Seo Joon randomly kissed Han Jo Woo out of the blue. Even if he asked, Han Jo still never consented, and it led to a huge scandal that could've easily been avoided.

Overall, this was a cute watch. It's not long at all, it literally took me a few hours to finish. I do recommend this for a watch, especially if someone wants something mostly cute and quick to watch.

Feel Good Series

If I were comparing this series to another like Tale of A Thousand Stars or ITSAY, then it wouldn't be rated nearly as high as I have it. Was this the best series ever? No. Did it have the best plot with the best actors? No, but it still was just a feel-good show that entertained me and grabbed at my heart.

Let's Dive In.

I missed Copter and Kimmon so much. Their chemistry in 2moons was absolutely radiating, and I so desperately wanted to see them again (and no, I do NOT count Hotel Stars), so you can see where my excitement was coming from when I heard they would be in a new series that actually featured BL. I loved Mark and Kit (lol, they basically kept the same plot and just changed up the names), They brought such a cute and delightful relationship to the screen. They were both very opposite of each other, and I think it just fits so perfectly for these actors who play well at the cat and dog type roles. Kit turning Mark down was really hard for me to watch. I could feel how hurt and heartbroken that Mark was and it depicted a great scene of how some relationships work. Some people are ready for a relationship, and others are just trying to figure it out. My only argument per se would be that Mark did a bit much at the beginning to flirt with Kit. Most of the time it came off as stalkerish and obsessed. Would've liked it had he taken his time more.

Most might not have liked the fact that Wayu spent most of the season sulking over Phu, but it's what actually happens with breakups, and I feel like we're able to finally see just how well-rounded of an actor Bas is. He did an incredible job at pertaining to be this brooding and heartbroken character, but I also like that we see him slowly recovering and being back to his old self. My only argument on Wayu is that they gave him this god-awful haircut that made him look twelve. Please, never again. I wasn't a huge fan of those bickering dudes that were trying to fight for Wayu's love. It felt too out of place for two grown men to be fighting like that, and it just took me out of the story. There were hints that Jack and Kalae might've had something going on between them, but sadly, I was not interested in the slightest bit. Let's move on Phu. While we do see Wayu interacting with Phu on the phone, whenever he was there in person, we only got to see the back of a head and nothing else. Why was Phu's identity kept a secret? Like, what was the point? There was no build-up to the reason why we don't see his face, and when we finally do in the finale, it sort of a "finally!" moment, but still it was meaningless, we should've just seen him from the getgo.

I really liked Thanu. While I felt that the actor himself was very mediocre in his performance as Thanu, I still enjoyed his presence in the series. He serves as the sort of reminder for Wayu that Phu is gone until they start to slowly hit it off, which I really enjoyed. I'm excited to see how they handle Wayu's relationship now that Phu is back just as he and Thanu were getting closer. Thanu had an ongoing battle with Padlock that serves as the reason why he left in the first place. I can't really remember why they didn't like each other, but whatever it was, it caused Thanu to have to leave and come back a year later (I think it was a year?). While it felt a bit much in the already complicated plot that was going on, I didn't have a problem since Junior (Padlock) did an excellent job and I loved seeing him on screen.

Onto Phai and his gang. Most of the boys that worked at this mini coffee shop had mediocre acting at best. None of them stood out as good to me, and quite frankly, I could've done without half of them. Sab was cute and had his occasional funny moments, but he felt like a character that could've been quickly cut out since he didn't serve a very important role in the series. He was very much a filler character that had a bunch of pointless screentime that could've been used for something different. Moving onto Phai. I liked the underlining relationship that was blossoming between him and Sandee. They were so shy and gentle around each other, which was a nice switch from the other couples we had seen. The best part about the two of them was the mini jar thing they were doing. They always just looked so precious around each other, and when they sometimes read the notes, they gave each other this look that spoke volumes. That was until the show goes south and starts this random-ass romance between Phai and Thanu. It's kind of like they were soulmates and both destined to meet. I wasn't here for them at all, most likely because I had already shipped them with their previous partners, but also because it felt so out-of-the-blue. Also, they added some weird-ass fantasy aspect with this couple in which they were able to see their future when they touched hands (or made eye contact, I can't remember). This aspect took me out of the actual show. It was uncalled for, and if the rest of the series wasn't going to be fantastical, then they didn't need to add that attribute for Phai and Thanu. Thankfully Thanu turns Phai down and decides to still pursue Wayu, but since Phai and him were shown to be soulmates, I don't feel the same for Wayu and Thanu like I did.

Tong and Pok's story felt like I was watching an entirely different series. While Sandee kind of connected into their story a bit (and we see that he might be a bit of a bad guy), I still feel like this couple was a bit much, and could've easily been cut. However, I did really like their dynamic. They had a very obvious sexual tension that got bigger and bigger towards the end. We see that they almost have a slight breaking moment, but were still able to overcome it. Some of the consent was left up in the air that could've easily been solved with a little bit of communication, but whatever I guess since it's BL right? (sarcasm!).

Overall, this is the feel-good series that I loved. Nothing spectacular happens, the acting is mediocre at best with a few exceptions, and the production looked like your average Thai BL. I do recommend a watch, it was cute, lighthearted, and humorous.

Best Concept Ever

A quick review on Cherry Magic, and just to say that I loved this series with all my heart. It was one of the first series I've seen that wasn't involving students or a university. I'm usually bored with the office-type settings, but this was the best thing yet. Adachi and Yuichi played a wonderful couple, with the subtle humor and silliness of mind-reading abilities, they created one of the best Japanese BLs ever.

Let's Dive In.

Let's start with the concept of the show. One word: brilliant. At first, I was worried that I was going to get bored with this series, mainly due to the fact that I went in without reading the synopsis or anything. As soon as we get into the juicy parts of the plot, I'm invested. A thirty-year-old gets the ability to read people's minds when he touches them, and it's all due to him being a virgin? Please, I love it. There was just so much to play around with when it came to this concept, and the show does an amazing job at executing their options. I really liked being able to be in Yuichi's head and see what he was thinking. Most of the time is was super cute, and other times it made for a good laugh at Adachi's reactions. I also liked how he used it to help with the people around him with their health and their situations. We can also kind of see how him having these abilities are affecting him. This show did a good job at diving into all of the different aspects that would come to being able to read people minds. A beautiful job well done.

I loved Adachi and Yuichi. They had this perfect shyness towards one another, and I loved them with all of my heart. I liked that we didn't have to see a bunch of skinship to fall in love with their relationship. That's when you know that you have a genuine couple and great acting to make these characters who they are.

I wasn't a fan of Adachi's friend at all. While I was intrigued with his story starting off, I was completely done with it closer to the end. Masato had this very calming, very dull personality until he meet this delivery boy and slowly realizes he's catching feelings. What took me away from this character was how he overdramatically expressed his affection, or just his emotions in general. I felt like I was watching a entirely different series when we switched to him. I didn't like how Adachi and his story were pretty ordinary and natrual when it came to expressing emotions while Masato was over the top when emphasizing how he was feeling. I didn't care much for him, nor did I care much for Minato (even though he was adorable). They were nice, but they drew me out of the main story.

Overall, this was a very detailed, very well put together series. My favorite part was just the concept. We don't see many fantasy BL series, so this one was exciting. I hope we're able to see more series with this fantastical type of setting. A definte recommendation.

Incredible OST

I'm not a fan of music/singer BLs, but this one get's an exception. While this is far from my favorite BL (or even Korean BL), I still believe that it was a good watch and I highly recommend it.

Let's Dive In.

I loved the OSt track in this. Usually, I don't pay attention to the music, but in this, it was beautiful. Both actors have a beautiful voice that wasn't hard to listen to at all. Finally, a show where the actors that are singer can actually sing. Talking about actors, while the acting was far from the best, it got better by the end. I think Kang and Yoon's setup was really unique, and it made for a nice love-at-first-sight moment. While their chemistry was very obvious, I will say that I felt like it went away closer to the end.

The best thing about this series was also the scenery, I was memorized by how beautiful these settings were, and how much i would have loved to be there with them. I really liked this series, and I highly recommend it.

What was the Point

This felt like another series made to catch a quick bag (which, I will never complain about someone trying to get some coins, earn your money the way you can). With only two episodes and the blandest storyline of all, this series gave us nothing with a nice slice of nullity.

Let's Dive In.

The best thing about this series was seeing Mean and Plan again. I was quite a big fan of them in LBC (but the second season ruined them), although they don't have the best chemistry, their acting is enough to make me want to stay and watch. It was refreshing to see Plan playing a character that's one personality isn't whining. He did an incredible job at playing this stern and serious person. I really enjoy watching him. The same goes for Mean. He played the opposite of Tin in LBC and seeing him bubbly and happy was fun. The sad part about it though is that there was no story to this couple. No story at all. And the little storying that we did get made absolutely no sense. If anything this series needed at least 8 more episodes to be able to have a decent plot. Mostly everything was boring, and nothing was very entertaining.

Overall, I don't recommend this watch unless someone is in the serious mood to see Mean and Plan again.

Another Pandemic Masterpeice

As if I didn't believe that the Philippines could do it again, but they did. I think my new favorite trope is pandemic love. Two trapped because of the pandemic, or can't see each other because of the pandemic. Either way, this trope will hold strong in my heart, even when this pandemic is long gone. Key and Chen's relationship felt so fresh and breezy, while also staying fun and cute.

Let's Dive In.

The beginning of this season was a little rocky. I wasn't too sure where this series was going, but from when they met inside the store, I knew exactly how it was going to play out. While this plot was pretty simplistic and obvious in the way it was going to play out, I still really enjoyed it. This is another BL that was a super fun watch. I found myself not able to stop as soon as I started a new episode. The chemistry between the leads was strong but had a nice subtley to it. I highly recommend this to watch, it was entertaining and kept me at the edge of my see for the most part.

Pretty Forgettable

I read one review that sums this series up really nicely; "Had this series come out a few years ago, it would've been really good. But we've on from this. We're better than this." I love that quote, and from now on that's what I'll say when I feel like I've been pulled back into 2017. The series would've been that bitch had it come out in the latter half of the 2010s, and probably would've been an all-time favorite had it come out earlier than that. But for me, this series fell short in the memorable department. I felt like I was watching a mix of Sotus and Make It Right. But, I liked those series, and to be quite honest, I liked this one too, but still, give it another year and I'll definitely change my opinion on it.

Let's Dive In.

Usually, I like the secondary couple way more than the main, but for this one, Pai and Itt were the ones with my heart. I loved Pai the most. While their acting was far from the best, I still loved the way Pai looked. He added something to his character that I really enjoyed. The shyness in the beginning to trying his best at being confident in college was well. Itt mostly annoyed me for the majority of the series. I don't know why he didn't just explain to Pai that he likes him, and instead, we had to go through all these trials and tribulations that could've been solved way before all of their drama. I did like the touch of Pai's family coming to visit ad seeing their son in the middle of a make-out session. That storyline was probably my favorite.

I don't like the way Marc (Itt) acts. We see his mom pass away and he has no type of emotions whatsoever. He's basically over it by the next episode. I felt like he had a harder time with showing his emotions, which is something he needs to grow on if he wants to go further in his acting career.

I loved Pure. I liked how he was open about not believing in love and only wanting to hook up. I also liked that he was open with liking guys and girls. Fiat once again does an incredible acting job. I wanted him and Waan together so bad, way more than I did him and Folk. Although, I did like that Folk helped Pure to believe in love again. Waan was at least given a love interest, even if we don't get to see her much, she's still there, which is exciting, to say the least. I'm still hoping that we get to see either JJ or AJ with the main lead role,

Overall, this series wasn't terrible, but as I said, give it another year and it will be forgettable. This is another series in which I wouldn't really recommend, but it was a fun watch.

Spot On

I don't know what it is with me and these over-the-screen romances, but I am LIVING for them. I once again cannot explain how much I loved this series. It's the second one I saw with the Zoom-type concept, and I loved it. Everything about this series was just perfect, and I didn't expect to love Xavier as much as I do.

Let's Dive In,

Me just remembering this series is getting me emotional. I guess I didn't really take into account how much I loved it, At first, I wasn't a fan of Tony's (Xavier) acting. It felt pretty mediocre, but it got better by the end. Actually, he became my favorite character after his and Mico's little project that they presented to the teacher. A phenomenal job. I couldn't understand why I'm loving this COVID concept of these Phillpino shows, but then these small moments when you can see the character falling in love is beautiful. Mico having Xavier turn around as he said he didn't want to see him anymore was so heartbreaking, but a beautiful job was done. Them meeting had to be the best part. I'm very excited to see them in the movie (once I get around to watching it).

I was actually so invested in Kookai and Seph's love story, Normally I don't care much for hetero ships, but they absolutely took my breath away. When they came up on the screen, I couldn't contain my excitement for them to get together. I wish we could've seen more Junjun just because I believe that actor did a great job at being charismatic and humorous, and I wanted to see so much more of him. I feel like we didn't see Crystal too much either, but when she was there, I didn't mind it too much. She was a little rude at the beginning, but by the end, I could care less about where her story was headed.

Overall, this series was perfect, and I loved all the characters. I would highly recommend this show to anyone wanting a cute romance during COVID.

A Decent Series

Like I previously stated, after watching Gaya Sa Pelikula and Gameboys, my expectations for Philipino BLs are high and even higher for BLs in general. So with My Day, I wasn't disappointed, but it didn't have the same touch that the others did.

Let's Dive In.

The first few episodes of this series were the best. The concept was new, which I can always appreciate, and from the beginning, I really enjoyed the two main leads. I think my favorite part was them going on their little trip with their coworkers and the cliche drowning scene (what can I say? I'm a sucker for cliches). For the most part, I didn't have a problem with this plot, until we got the the later half of the show. Everything felt like a filler moment, and nothing was quite understandable from the getgo. The acting is also not that great, especially when it come to crying scenes. By the end, I was kind of over this show and just ready to move on. I was also over it cause they had the mean ex-girlfriend go and try to sabatoage their relationship.

Overall, not a bad watch, this show is kind of forgettable, and a bit cliche, but it wasn't bad. It also didn't hurt that the actors did have good chemistry and their intimate scenes were done very nicely. Wouldn't neccassily recommend it, but I wouldn't knock it off either.
