Fun romantic comedy

I just finished watching this drama and I'm so glad that I did. It has all the elements I was looking for: nice male lead, nice female lead, romance, comedy, funny secondary characters, no real evil vendettas, funny parents.

If your looking for a light comedy, with good music that will leave you wanting just a little more this is definitely the drama to watch.

I especially liked how the ML was not afraid to show his feelings and try to protect the FL. Most of his choices revolved around mashing sure that she was ok, even changing his logical thinking to accept some of her illogical beliefs.

If you hesitate to watch it, continue watching it or quit it think twice.
When I started this series I kind of was fine with it, but the first episode did not grab me except I already knew it will be a light and very entertaining watch. I was not wrong to think that way and right not to quit!

First, the series made me giggle mostly during all the 16 episodes. Second, they have created a perfect male character acted by Ryu Joon Yeol and let me tell you there was no flaws in his personality in me eye - every woman would want a husband like him! Third, we need more series that makes us giggle inside, laugh outside, cheesy us up and feel what romance should be as many of todays relationships have less than 10% of what love should be today. Of course, I keep in mind, this is drama, life is so much different, but regardless, let's face it - we all need a little love, laughter and happiness in life besides hardship and daily life.

The song "Tell me" grew on me a lot and I even hummed it at work and outside all day long at one time... how silly (haha)
The skin ship and chemistry was phenomenal! RJY - you have done a marvelous job acting in this one, and OMG you grew on me with your character like no other character from another Kdramas.
Of course the female lead is always a delight to watch (I love her in every single series anyway!)
Rest of the cast - awesome! Fun, fun, fun ... and more fun!

I honestly can say, if you want to laugh, and feel good - this is the drama you shall watch. Even after the series ended, I still have a smile on my face and memory picture of all the "cuteness"!
No wonder Kdramas are so good! They know how to use the plot so there is something for everyone, the acting is great, and honestly, they hardly disappoint!
This one was one of them too! .................................... pure delight! (giggle)

STORY: 9/10
It's unrealistic but that's what makes it more INTERESTING ! I love the Story Line and Epilogues too^^It's a Rom Com so expect some cute and funny conversations,(I like it)

CHARACTERS:8/10
Je Su Ho- We knew him as a serious type in REPLY 1988,he is a normal smart as Jung Hwan which makes him attractive but here in LUCKY ROMANCE,he is a genius, yes a genius but not the genius like "Irie kun" from Mischievous Kiss haha,Some may find him unattractive in his character but he has this charm that you can only see if you understand his character, and some of his cute gestures(i really find him cute when he's having a conversation with his friend, the coffee shop owner and when he's getting awkward with Shim Bo Nui)

Shim Bo Nui- At first I thought, she was older than Su Ho,and it was a noona and so on type of story but maybe it's because of her character.
I also can't find the logic how she believes in superstitions while she was very good in new technology. It felt a little uncomfortable though how she looks desperate, but thanks to our gentleman Je Su Ho.

Favorite scenes:
*When Je Su Ho was about to ask Shim Bo Nui for the copyright of IF but got startled with her looks while preparing for her date with Gary Choi.

*When Shim Bo Nui went to Su Ho's office wearing a white dress and Je Su Ho thought she was a ghost and kept blabbering about how Freud proves that there are really no ghost.I love Je Su Ho's reaction.hahaha

*The second kiss scene,
I think it's sweet and romantic then "Lean On Me" played in the background hehehe

DISLIKES :
The only thing i don't like is when they were already being cheesy and all and everytime they're laughing, with the annoying sound, they look like a little retarded, sorry for the term ..sorry!

I think I can compare this drama to "Because This Is My First Life" and I think if Ryu Jun Yeol can also give justice to Nam Se Hee's role because he is a brilliant and underrated actor.I hope he can make more movies and RomCom dramas.I'll look forward to it...:D

Enjoyable romantic comedy with some plot issues but nevertheless a guilty pleasure.

If you read this review to the end, I know it’s going to sound like I’m talking out of both sides of my mouth when I say I really enjoyed watching this feel-good show. I absolutely did enjoy it, but it somehow left me feeling like something was missing—like the feeling you get when you pig out on empty calories. It wasn’t the cast. Hwang Jung Eum was adorable, beautiful, and vulnerable as Bo Nui. (Shout out to the costume designer: Bo Nui’s wonderfully quirky outfits were like a whole character by themselves!) The other parts of the love triangle were also well played by Ryu Joon Yeol (Je Su Ho) and Lee Soo Hyuk (Choi Gun Wook). And Lee Cho Hee was delightfully cute as the goofy, lovelorn administrative assistant Lee Dal Nim.

So what about the empty calories? The issue didn’t come into focus until I thought about the rating I would assign to this drama. I really liked it, but how did it compare to my other highly rated dramas. Just how good was it? And that’s where the wheels started to fall off. The more I thought about it, there were just too many plot points that were dropped or glossed over. The character development seemed to lurch around in places. I’ve never written a review filled with spoilers, but I’m doing so here—mostly to explain my less than stellar rating to my favorite reviewers out there who rated this drama too highly in my opinion.

In no particular order:
--Bo Nui puts her entire life on hold, sacrificing everything, to take care of her comatose sister Bo Ra, but there is shockingly little screen time devoted to Bo Ra until the very, very end. For some reason, Bo Nui can’t even look at her sister until Su Ho comes along—a full 13 years after the accident. Doesn’t this seem strange?

--Su Ho goes from emotionless, almost autistic, to sensitive new age guy in the course of a couple of episodes. In the final third, he acts downright goofy around Bo Nui. It was kind of cute, but come on. The guy had spent 30 years being totally withdrawn and completely socially inept, then all of a sudden he’s a regular guy?

--After Su Ho's accident, Bo Nui runs home packs up her apartment of twenty years and moves to an undisclosed location the very next day AND is somehow able to move her barely awake sister to a new hospital the same day too. What?

--I never figured out how Bo Nui’s old boss (Won Dae Hae) fit in. Was he a good guy? A bad guy? He kept inexplicably floating in and out of the story. He starts out the drama on the lam and one step ahead of his creditors and Bo Nui, then makes a pile of dough selling his company (and Bo Nui’s clever program) to Su Ho where he should have been set for life. But next thing we know he’s broke again and selling magic drinking water before getting hired as an inept security guard who lets the bad guy in, who then disappears again only to reappear as some kind of employee For Su Ho’s new company. It made my head spin.

--I also had a lot of issues about the way the software business was portrayed. How did the programming team allow their software to be sabotaged not once, but twice(?!) and in exactly the same way? And when they reviewed the security footage and saw ex-employee Park Ha Sang roaming around the office, absolutely no mention was made of the fact that Bo Nui was also there with her old boss turned security guard. And did they ever catch Ha Sang? Was he ever punished? Finally, I was a bit flabbergasted when Choi Ho, the chicken restaurant guy, came out of retirement after twenty years and is somehow able to help Su Ho decrypt the ransomware. It would be about as easy for a retired pro football player to come back lead his team to victory as it would for someone to jump into cybersecurity after a twenty-year absence from computer programming.

Finally, In dramas like Secret Garden and My Girlfriend is a Gumiho, which explicitly rely on suspension of disbelief, you go into them knowing that some plot inconsistencies must be forgiven and that the viewer must relax into the story and enjoy it a little less critically. However, Lucky Romance, really isn’t that kind of drama. Things should make more sense. But in the end, although my list of complaints seems long, they didn’t stop me from enjoying myself. This drama is just not a “10”. It is a guilty pleasure “8”.

wasn't the best I've seen

I watched this again, hoping to see that I'd missed something the first time, only to have to drop my rating. Let me begin by saying I love the main actress. She's beautiful and her voice is lovely, and she's a great physical actress. I've never seen the male lead in anything before, but I'll need to watch out for him, I enjoyed his performance. I did not care for the execution of this story. Why did her best friend never suggest she get counseling? Sometimes you have to tell your friend the hard things. This woman had a form of OCD that seriously needed to be addressed. The superstition aspect carried on for far too long, I thought. The clothing designer for her needed to be shot. Her outfits were ridiculous and distracting. The feeling I got from this was that she really didn't love him enough. The breakup was stupid and I felt like it was just to extend the show to the obligatory 16 episodes. Typical K-drama cliche of time passage of a year. Seriously, if you are going to make me think that people are in love, they need to be willing to fight for that love. He was wonderful and more patient than I would have been, that's for sure. That said, the times that they were together as a couple were absolutely adorable, but those times were few and far between. I loved when they were trying to keep their relationship a secret, but everyone knew. Their friends were really cute and provided comic relief as well.

I never came this far .This is my first time posting a review for a Kdrama . I just cant go over it :) they really look good together I like this love team so far . The storyline is also realistic in real life there are really people who believe in superstitious beliefs . I had butterflies in my stomach while watching this drama and I laughed my ass out because of its natural comedy .looking forward for another drama from the main casts .

**For the love of Ryu Jun Yeol ??

I enjoyed this drama and I'm so in love with Soo Hoo's character. I was just moved by his expressions and the chemistry between the lead actor and actress is so beautiful. Je Soo Hoo's fashion style was the best and even when he was wearing that shorts mka-inlove samut ??? he's so cute and he has the most captivating smile hehehe.... Pero ang fashion style sa jud ni Bo Nui paki-atiman, ala jud ko kasabot as in maka-distract sa mata hahaha... ??

I was just smiling the whole time I was watching this kdrama even the support roles are amazingly funny. This drama gives good vibe feels and the second lead Gary Choi is super pogi din. I would recommend this drama if you wanted to watch rom-com drama. Definitely one of my favorite romcom kdrama.

Why I watched it: It was mainstream and Hwang Jung Eum tends to pick good dramas.

Was it worth it: Yes.

What I liked the most: Ryu Joon Yeol’s character. I share a few of the same traits as him. Also his hands.

What I disliked the most: The best friend characters were a bit much at times.

Moment Meter: 8/10 – Lots of great moments. After a recent drought, this was the storm I was looking for.

Other thoughts: The beginning was great. I loved the situation that expired during the full moon and the story in general. Some moments were a bit too slow and lost some steam towards the end. Lee Soo Hyuk went for a softer role this time, which I enjoyed. A good amount of romance. Ryu Joon Yeol’s looks have their moments of good looking, and not-so-good-looking. Generally I like him. It was a very easy drama to watch. Would I watch it again? Not anytime soon, but maybe after a good amount of time has passed.

Conclusion: A very good light romantic comedy. There aren’t enough of these coming out these days. :\

Story
The story is about Bo Nui who is highly supersticious and will do everything possible to avoid getting bac luck for her, but especially others. It doesn't matter how far she has to go to achieve a sense of security. Then there is Soo Ho who believes only in truths and facts. Two world that couldn't be more apart, but slowly entertwine in a way that (in my opinion) couldn't have been any more perfect.

The pacing of the story is done well. The emotions and jokes, I felt, were well-balanced. They also didn't always show things in full, revealing a small thing later that would give certain situations a small twist. I really, really liked these little twists and extra information that they gave you.
There was only a small moment somewhere between eps 10-15 that I started to feel a bit of a drag. I'm not sure if the plot is to blame, or just my own attention shifting as happens more often with me. However, when I went back to finish the last 2 episodes I had absolutely no trouble getting straight back into the story, even though more than a month had already passed! (If not already 2.)

I feel like all the most prominent characters were giving plenty of story and screen time. I don't feel like there are unfinished stories left, which is often the case in dramas. It's a story with a happy ending and I feel this fits the plot well, considering all the bad luck that's been going on through-out it. It's a feel-good romance for sure with plenty of laughs and tears.

Let me also add that the ending didn't feel rushed as is also often the case!

Acting/Cast
I think the characters were well casted. I'll admit I'm not a huge fan of Jung Eum who played the lead female Bo Nui. But the things that usually annoy me about her, I couldn't find in this drama. (I can't quite put into words what annoys me either.) So that, for me personally, was quite a relief.

I really, really enjoyed Ryu Joon Yeol as Je Soo Ho. If you ask me, he was just perfect. He was cute and awkward one moment and another he was cool and reliable. The way he showed his characters development felt really smooth to me and I just cannot praise this man enough. I really fell in love with his acting and his character thanks to that.

The other casts, as said, are also well chosen. The characters that were meant to be funny actually felt funny to me. And that's not always the case for me. So a job well done! :)

Music

Junsu.
The moment I heard his voice, I was sold. I absolutely loved the song he sang for this drama. It fit the mood so well. Fangirling aside - overall I really did enjoy all of the OST. Though Junsu jumped out for me personally, being a real fan of his sound, I found myself enjoying the music more often. It made me notice it in a positive way and it really held my hand - allowing me to feel the scenes and emotions all the better through-out the story. And man - did it help make me cry here and there.

Rewatch Value
High! I didn't expect it when I first read about this drama, but man - I was pulled in so easily. Though the plot isn't going to be a whole big surprise anymore, I feel like the acting totally makes up for that. I'm sad I no longer get to enjoy Joon Yeol's acting, but it is comforting to know I can always rewatch it. To me, he really is the star of this drama.

Good characters but weak plot

The characters are good and the actors are making a good job (well except for that tennis play, that was just awful). But the plot is kinda weak, it gets messy and draggy from time to time because of that.
There are some brilliant moments, especially between the two main leads, that make the drama worth watching though.

The main leads are really cute and dorky around each others, and it makes for some very nice scenes.
There are also some really good secondary characters/actors (Kim Sang Ho, Jung Sang Hoon, Lee Cho Hee... and the whole work team overall) who often stole the scene. I was quickly watching the show more for them than for the leads (and rooting for the secondary couple long before it happens).

For me the biggest problem are the second leads (both male and female). the characters aren't interesting and they don't brong anything to the plot... except for the weakest love square ever. Maybe?
Even if they gave the second male lead a side storyline, I'm sure the whole drama would have been better without them.
