Out of jealousy, Consort Hui pleads with the Emperor to give her and the Empress a framed work of his calligraphy, so he creates one for all of his wives. He then confers a pipa player, Bai Rui Ji, as a 2nd attendant for his harem, causing jealousy. A brash Bai Rui Ji insults Consort Hui and pays the consequences.
