Have very different storylines and themes, but both deal with aspects of prison life and the bonds between cellmates.

If you love this movie, Prison Playbook would be an upgrade it version of this. I'm really surprised that this is not one of the recommendations yet.

The similarity has to start with the prison theme, even their costumes are almost identical.

In the Prison Playbook is not as politically heavy (solely focused) but still shows the hierarchy in the prison.

Also has a relationship with an older prison uncle trying to kind guide the male lead to the lights.

I really think anyone loves this movie would love this drama too!!

Made by the same director, these both dramas hit the same way. Prison playbook has less romance and more comedy and is a slice of life drama set in a prison. The kind of drama that'll make you laugh till you cry.

Both dramas are about life inside a prison. There is no shortage of harsh and bloody scenes and unjustly accused characters.

Both dramas need to be watched privately for the sole reason that it will make you crack and ugly snort if you watch it in public. They have different premise but they have the similar elements of friendship, life, and (very little) romance.

Waikiki is more like a sitcom, but I love the development of the characters. For Prison Playbook, it feels more like a more organized drama where you get know each inmate and their story with comedic elements in it.

Both focus on the different relationships and friendships made inside of prison.

Both have a main character who was sent to jail due to unfortunate circumstances of self defence.

Shows the good, bad and ugly of jail rehabilitation and those in power who take advantage of their higher position.

Finally, both were highly acclaimed when they were released.

Action, Comedy, Romance Set we shouldn't miss!
Both lead becomes close with people around after they moved.
Solved every hardship in cool & funny way.
Crazily funny and some good action!
Both prisoners and geumga plaza people have same vibe that they are willing to help main lead.
Romance comes little but with spice ! Even with a tiny minutes, you can feel the chemistry between two people.

One's reality show but has some kind of hints about the drama. Give you some cackles. Both are 'Prison Life'. Both has Kang Seung Yoon. The PD of the drama is the writer of the reality show.

While move to heaven shows the person and sercumtanses behind a persons death prison playbook shows the sercumtanses and the person behind the jail sentance.

Both deal with predjedus and call out the gaps in modern society reaching beyond what is seen on the surface.

And both deal with bonds, in prison playbook its more about friendship while move to heaven is more about family.

Move to heaven is allot shorter but both are great dramas that will awaken a range of emotions in you.

I kinda don't remember much about the plot but I feel like this is a female version of prison playbook...

Unlike Hotel del Luna, the plot is not centered around romance(although there is some romance), but they are similar in a different way.
- Both dramas change the perspective of the viewer through unconventional ways: Hotel Del Luna uses ghosts while Prison Playbook uses prisoners. The stories of the ghosts and their path to redemption teach us many lessons about life and its value. In a similar sense, you find yourself immersed in the lives of those wrongfully imprisoned and largely misunderstood. As these dramas incorporate a new and creative way to tell their story, they both deliver outstanding effects and full emotional rollercoasters.
- While the genres are vastly different, you find that boiled down to their cores, both shows teach a lesson about growth. The character development of the leads is outstanding and highlights the importance of those around you, as well as inner stability on the journey of self discovery.
- As Hotel Del Luna deals with fate and the supernatural, Prison Playbook merely plays on misfortune and human treachery.
Overall, one would not immediately draw parallels between the two, but when comparing them in terms of basic themes, there are lot more similarities than expected.
