The Empress offers to grant Yuan An and the Infanta one wish each. While Yuan An asks for Mu Le’s freedom, the Infanta boldly requests for Lan Zhi to become her husband. After failing to discourage the Infanta, the Empress reluctantly agrees, provided that Lan Zhi must also accept her proposal. Sometime later, the Infanta poisons Yuan An, causing her to gradually lose her senses and sanity. When Lan Zhi confronts her to obtain the antidote, she coerces him into marrying her instead.
