The plan doesn't work and Xiao Song barges in to save Ran Yan, but Guo has a jade badge that says he is like the emperor. Xiao Song backs down, but Su Fu rushes in to save her. Ran Mei Yu drugs Xiao Song so he'll spend the night with her. Ran Yan quits being a medical examiner and goes in search of her mother's grave. Official Li wakes up and the only clue he gives is that Xiao Song should beware of Ran Yan. Su Fu puts on a show for Ran Yan so that she will think he is being threatened by assassins and help him.
