A promising xuanhuan drama turned into a wrecked rollercoaster
As I'm writing this review, my head is going to explode any moment. Every time I think of Snow Eagle Lord, I can't help but getting furious. Even though it has good premise, good novel, good plot, it turns 180° and becomes a wrecked rollercoaster, aided by cheap sets and average special effects. The plot is a simplistic. Why do I say this? Because it's about a hero trying to save his mother from her evil family. The hero made a lot of preparations, including buying a new weapon to enrolling a prestigious academy. Then, he came across fellow students and befriended them.
I don't understand why, but the script manoeuver 180° from the actual storyline. They've also added dumb and stupid elders, toxic rivals, and clever antagonists. I wish they could just clear off. But, nope. They only tried to make us infuriated with their stupid antics. That's why I can't stand it longer.
Xu Kai did well as usual, but he himself couldn't save this drama from becoming a mess. The FL (Gulnezer Bextiyar) didn't help much either, I feel that she always had those same expressions whenever she was laughing or crying. The leads barely had any chemistry. Thankfully, it's not a romance-oriented drama.
The second couple is decent enough whereas the third couple needs a slapping especially ML's little brother. To be honest, none of them has saving graces (only ML's spear choreography is worth mentioned).
Watch it at your own risk if you have the patience to withstand stupid characters and messy plot. Don't waste your time on this drama or you will regret it.

Too typical
I like period dramas and Xu Kai have done well in previous ones I have seen. He seems to be doing well in this kne too and i was enjoying it until the episode that their romance started. It is starting to be too ttpical for most period dramas to have a hero who is in persuit of a goal and then romance starts. Then theres a friend or colleague that becomes a rival and end up being an enemy. I guess i just watched too many of this same plot back to back that now this series became the straw that broke the camels back for me.
Can someone produce a period series wherein the romance is just 25% of the series and the rest focused on achieving goals and dreams?
The female lead has a cold demeanor, Xu Kai's character has a cold demeanor. The brother of Xu Kai seems important but his story is going to slow.
The romance started before even having a slight explanation of where Xu Kai got his exemplary power. Yes his mother is a transcendent but his father is a regular joe. What made his more powerful than the others who has both parents as transcendent? The lead female acting at a point looks like shes just doing the job and her heart isnt into the role. It may just be me.
Other characters are good and enjoyable. Seriously the romance starting and i just lost interest.
My review is just my feelings and thoughts. I enourage all to watch it because it seems good. If you are not sick of the typical plot of hero after pursuit then starts a romance with a friend turning into an enemy because of a girl, then this is a good one to watch for you.
Production is good, costumes/wardrobe is good, I am not too crazt of the soundtrack tho, characters are good.

Pretty actor/actress to look at but they can't act and bad script. It didn't lure me in
I am dropping Snow Eagle Lord with Xu Kai and Gulnezer Bextiyar after 4 episodes. I don't like Xian Xia drama; I have tried many times (TTEOTM, TJOCZ, etc.) and dropped all of them. It is not a genre that I am into. In addition, I have not been able to finish any of the historical costume (Wu Xia or Xian Xia) dramas that Xu Kai is in because he cannot act.He has a pretty face and a one-dimension actor, and to team him up with Gulnezer is another pretty face who can't act either.
I give it a 3.0 rating because of the bad acting and Xian Xia genre, where the script was not good.

A Reflection on Snow Eagle Lord
In Chinese dramas, Xu Kai has undeniably carved a reputation for himself, capturing hearts with his compelling performances. My admiration for his acting prowess blossomed after witnessing the chemistry he shared with Bai Lu in 'The Legends.' Xu Kai's ability to convey emotions with depth and authenticity truly left an indelible mark on me.However, this newfound admiration led me to venture into 'Snow Eagle Lord' with heightened expectations. To my surprise, the series didn't quite resonate with me as I had anticipated. Perhaps it was the thematic nuances or the narrative elements that failed to strike a chord with my personal preferences. Despite this initial disconnect, I recognize that the beauty of storytelling lies in its subjective nature.
There's a lingering thought that someday, I might revisit 'Snow Eagle Lord.' Sometimes, a second viewing allows for a fresh perspective and a deeper appreciation for the nuances that may have eluded me initially. It's not uncommon for the intricacies of a storyline to unfold more gracefully upon revisiting.
Although 'Snow Eagle Lord' may not have immediately resonated with me, it doesn't diminish my admiration for Xu Kai's talent. His ability to breathe life into characters is commendable, and I eagerly look forward to witnessing more of his diverse roles and performances in the future. Xu Kai's journey as an actor is a captivating one, and I'm curious to see the artistic paths he chooses to explore, knowing that each role holds the promise of new surprises and dimensions to his craft.

I would like to see Xu Kai's talents utilized.
It's boring. And 40 episodes is too long.I watched it with high expectations because it stars Xu Kai, who is known for his acting ability, but I was very disappointed.
It's not Xu Kai's fault.
The script is boring.
Moreover, it is a CG-based drama, which I don't like at all.
I don't like fantasy dramas to begin with (although I thought The Legends was interesting).
Imagine the scene before CG, the actors are acting in the dumbest possible situation, and you can't help but laugh when you watch the drama.
Already dropped.
Xu Kai belongs to a big agency and may not have the right to choose the drama if the company tells him to, but I think he should choose the script because Xu Kai's acting skills are solid.
