The absolute worst thing about the show is that it's over

Just like the first season, Hospital Playlist 2 gave me something to look forward to every week and when I thought of Thursdays - I thought to myself "Oh there's a new episode out!"

I liked that it was released weekly and I was watching as it aired so that I could savour each episode rather than binge watching it. In season 2, relationships continue to develop especially between Ik Jun and Seong Hwa and Seok Hyeong and Min-ha. I remember watching the first season and actually not really liking Chu Min-ha that much but then she kept on growing on me and watching her and Seok Hyeong was probably one of my favourite parts of this season. But really, I love everything about the show.

This show honestly has everything. Great relationships, meaningful dialogue and heartwarming moments, plot twists, tackling tough topics with compassion, and hilarious scenes. You will laugh, you will cry, you will sing along to songs you know (and don't know).

I feel like a lot of time actually passes by in this season, more than I expected, but it flows really well. I can't believe season 2 is already over... maybe it's time to rewatch season 1.

I can't think of a single negative thing to say about the show, other than that there isn't a confirm third season yet. *cries*

This drama saved me.

I found this drama during the times that I am on the verge of giving up. This might sound generic to you but when I watched this one, I never expected that it will gave me that kind of belongingness despite of the culture differences. I owe my life to this drama and to the entire casts. Thank you for saving me. I love you!!!!!!!!!!

Simple Review

The thing I most liked about this drama is that it's so refreshing. It has no over-the-top plot twist. Just a story of five friends and their journey in life. The story is so peaceful but not boring. The actors did their job phenomenally. This is one of those dramas that you can watch over and over again, and never get bored. Also thank god there is no villain in this drama. I think this is the only hospital drama, I have watched, where there is no power struggle. Just the realistic lives of the doctors, great friendships, and even the friendship between Jeong Ro Sa and Ju Jong Su were so good. This drama teaches the value of relationships and how to maintain them. Seriously hoping for a third season with the original cast.

Wonderful Musical Fun Drama

I feel like this should have been the 24 episodes full fledge drama as season 2 is the proper ending we hoped for our five friends. But no complaints over here as I watched this drama when the season 2 started so did not have to wait for another season.
I will talk about the drama for both of the seasons.

It is such a joy when you watch a drama that is perfect in every aspect. Story, characters, music all perfectly blending together. And when you combine this with great acting then that is a guaranteed masterpiece. Though this does not have a specific plot, it tells short heartfelt stories of patients, doctors and overall characters involved with the hospital.

We get to see different interactions like doctor-patient, professor-residents, patient and intern, intern- residents, residents-residents and the list continues. But the memorable once are with the doctor giving great consultations to the patient. Wheather the doctor telling the mother that is it is equally important to take good care of her own health along with the baby during pregnancy, because even if the baby is safe but does not have the mother ,then that is more sad , or the doctor giving an earful to his patient that though the technology is now advanced that the multiple times liver transplant is possible, it should not be take for granted and ignore all the precautions those need to be taken to avoid the transplant in the first place. These are just some of the examples of the great short stories told.

Apart from patients, the interns related stories and song for the theme really stays with you because we get to see how clueless the interns are and how everyone like residents, professors become nostalgic when they remember their intern days. Though they seem more knowledgeable now but they also made some silly mistakes back in their freshman days. All and all we have great balance between comedy and the overall greater life learning message they want to convey throughout the series.

And we cannot miss the romantic angles,as in season 2 some of them started dating, some are going through breakup, some has started walking down the road of becoming a couple and some still do not want to leave their friendship comfort zone but romantic feelings can't stay hidden. Not revealing any names to avoid spoilers, but all and all we have total relationship drama.

This drama is wonderful due to it's strongest cast. Each one has perfectly portrayed their characters. Jo Jung Suk, Yoo Yeon Seok, Jung Kyung Ho delivers great performances as usual. This was the first work I watched for Jeon Mi Do and found her performance wonderful. Again have not watched any work of Kim Dae Myung so I was gladly surprised by his performance. His character really grows on you though it is seems dull at start and character's love story is extremely cute.

I have to admit that the most thing I am going to miss is the friendship between these 5 doctors and the meaningful songs per episode. Their interactions are extreme delight to watch. The vibe of friendship is very similar to reply 1988.
P.S. if you liked reply 1988 then you will definitely like this one and if you like this drama definately recommend reply 1988.

Gonna miss the 99z squad

Hospital Playlist S2 (2021)

Likes
1. Not as exciting as s1 but still loved their relationship and seeing their day to day activities
2. The first few songs released didn't feel as nice as s1 but made up for it in the latter part, esp hearing my old faves like I Love You More Than Anything and Already One Year being remade.
3. The friends started out as single, now they all have someone by their side. Esp loved Ikjun-Songhwa and Seokhyung-Minha. I didnt like what Iksun did to Junwan but still loved them. Never been a fan of Winter Garden. Rosa and Director was also great!
4. There were less stories about the nurses and interns this season but i loved the episode about the importance of the ER team.
5. One of my fave characters this season is Jaehak, his bromance with Junwan, his story about his wife and getting his money back from the scammer!

Dislikes
1. I'm not a fan of medical dramas so to me each episode was too long and focused more on the medical procedures and felt so boring. I fast forwarded the last 3 episodes' scenes in the operating room.
2. Maybe because of the above, the personal stories didnt get as much attention. Like Seokhyung suddenly liking Minha. Or Jeongwon suddenly announcing he was leaving for a year.

I'm gonna miss the group! I really hope they still find time to meet up with the band and not be too busy just because they're all coupled up.

Rating: 8/10

i dont think ive rated a show this high.

posting all my reviews from other places on here, so keep in mind i wrote this when it came out <33

oh my god, fantastic.
i loved the pacing. from season 1 to now, the pace has been constant, i love every moment.
all the couples oh my heart T T
the cast killed it once again.
(i found out one of the main actors didn't have very nice things to say about women, but that was a while ago i think, it broke my heart nonetheless, anyway this will not reflect on my review.)
this has to be one of the most real and slice of life dramas ive ever seen, it had no certain plot but it had me hooked, as if i was watching mystery lol. lee and his son will forever be most cute duo in the entire world.

cont. now:
i just wished jun and ik sun wouldve gotten together earlier and we got to see more moments of them because they totally stole s1 for me.
i also kind of wanted to see them get caught by ik joon and the friends, it would've been hilarious.
i didn't like that he had to find out in a circumstance where he had no choice but to accept they dated and broke up already.
i really love that couple AHHH

anyways i recommend this to kdrama newbies all the time, usually ends up with them not being satisfied with any other dramas lol *evil laugh*

thanks for reading BYEZ

How Hospital Playlist Became the Most Heartfelt Drama Ever

Video Review (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96f-1158C2I)

Hospital Playlist made me happy while watching it. There’s a lot of praise one could give to a show, like how the story is well constructed, the characters are deep or how the cinematography is done masterfully, however I think the biggest praise I can give this show is its ability to arouse a sense of joy. Incomparable to any other k-drama I’ve watched, in just a couple of episodes, it made me care deeply for the main and side cast along with their relationships with each other.
The show is about many things. It’s about a group of five friends who form a band together for fun and practice every week. It is about a group of five doctors managing their careers along with their friendships. It’s about the life of interns, residents and fellows at hospitals and their struggle to manage extraneous amount of work while maintaining some semblance of a social life. It’s about the patients and the drama that comes in dealing with certain illnesses. It’s about dealing with family, through the good and the bad, the emotions you end up feeling as you get older and the acceptance of them. And of course, it’s also about relationships, which form and develop throughout.
The show manages to juggle all of this with near perfection, utilizing its hour and a half to sometimes two-hour long episode runtimes to their fullest. This is why I truly believe that, Hospital Playlist IS the best k-drama ever made.

The shows appeal I think is perfectly captured in its first episode. While over time, the jokes get better, the drama gets thicker and the characters get more developed, the first episode of this show remains a standout as one of the best first episodes in all of k-drama for me, maybe only surpassed by the first episode of Be Melodramatic. The first episode of this show makes sure you understand from the start that the generic overused plot points and plot devices other shows use relentlessly are not gonna be found here.
This is done beautifully in the first episode by introducing a character which other series would’ve used as an obvious generic villain, and making sure that by the end the viewer realizes that there won’t be characters like that in this show (this is done multiple times throughout the show by the way, introducing a character or concept other shows would use as central generic plot devices, whereas this show treats them as just another part of life that does not in any meaningful way become an overarching struggle for the characters to overcome).

This is a story about real people, who act in real ways, where you never feel frustrated thinking a character is acting incredibly unrealistic. There are flawed characters here, sure but it never feels like irrational things happen, or characters decide to do something very stupid just so that the plot can move.
Instead, the show feels like the people who made it CARED. It’s sad to say that it DOES feel like a very substantial portion of k-drama produced nowadays is soulless. It feels like nobody in the production teams in these shows cared about the quality of the story, with the abundant reliance on frustrating coincidences, and overused plot points and tropes, or the quality of the cinematography with again overused sceneries, horrible slow motion shots, or even the soundtrack which I think almost no other show does quite as masterfully as this one, where in each episode the band has something to perform which in some way or another is used again during the runtime of the episodes to compliment the story.

It’s brilliant and it’s perfect in doing what the show is best at, setting the mood.
Throughout a single episode you WILL feel a wide array of emotions produced by the interactions of a large cast who demonstrate a spectrum of relatable or tragic problems and daily interactions. Seeing the tragic stories of patients is heartbreaking, the overcoming of a difficult illness is relieving, the interactions of the five main cast are both incredibly entertaining and sometimes unbearably heartwarming, and I can go on…
The side cast make you feel restless and anxious for them and proud of them along with making you cheer for any goals they set for themselves. Not to forget the parental characters and their struggles which both give the emotion of joyfulness for life and sometimes the frustrations of it, that end up best ailed with the companionship of peers.

The only criticism I can give to this show is that sometimes the characters feel too perfect of human beings and often times the only character flaws that ARISE are a product of how perfect they are. This is a perfect time to talk about the main cast in order to illustrate this.

Song-Wha, the only female MC, is an extreme workaholic (all of the main cast are to be honest) but she is portrayed on another level. She manages to work her shift, cover for others, help her residents and interns with their papers and problems, spend time with her friends, play bass in the band, have hobbies of her own and…well you get the idea. This leads to expectations being placed upon her by others which she doesn’t know how to deny, in turn this causes her to be swamped when her emotional baggage doesn’t allow her to meet all of these expectations. Other than that, she’s the most perfect character in the series with the only thing really worth mentioning as a flaw being that she is hesitant to get too close to certain characters due to her own inhibitions.

Moving on to the second most perfect character in the series, Ik-Sun. A father, who works tirelessly at his job, and not only has time to hang out with his friends but also being the all-around extrovert, knows everyone at the hospital and knows everything about them. All this while also making sure to spend a lot of time with his kid, the interactions of which are a joy to watch. Without spoiling much, he gets screwed over a couple of times in the show but despite that he is the biggest bundle of joy in the entire series, always trying to help anyone he can, always being the life of the group and to be honest the highlight of the entire show.

Jun-wan is next, and he’s at least at the start the paper tiger architype. Serious and high strung on the outside, the charm of his character comes from how he changes depending on his surroundings. How he treats his patients with rarely seen mixture of coldness and care, how he turns into a goof when he’s with his friends, how he’s embarrassed when saying something cringy in a relationship or how he easily gets lonely.

Jung Won on the other hand is kind of the Jesus archetype. This is one of the characters where I think his perfectness is very well written as it gets to the point where it hinders his happiness. His devotion to his patients becomes so strong that he isn’t able to emotionally detach from them anymore which, as you can imagine, causes issues. Spending most of his money on charity, he is a cheapskate person even with his high salary as a doctor. And combined with all of this, his unhealthy devotion to religion makes him consider repressing his feelings for others. All of this though I think is handled quite well in the first season, and overall, his character is enjoyable to watch and develop over time.

Finally, we have Suk Hyung which is the character closest to my heart. A total introvert avoiding any and all social interaction not already in his friend group. Always preferring comfort over any complications in his personal life. Still, like most others in the cast we see the usual devotion to his patients, friends and family, the latter particularly to a fault due to repressed feelings of guilt. Throughout the series I think this character was handled the best, as his growth over time is an absolute joy to watch. Seeing him understand and confront the flaws in his personality through the help of his friends and try to change and better himself is very inspirational and comforting to watch.

There are a LOT of standout side-characters as well, in fact one of my favorite and most relatable characters Chu Min Ha being one of them due to her very accurate portrayal of stress due to work I (enunciate) certainly felt during college, but going over all of the standout members of the side cast would take way longer than the scope of this video and thus…

To conclude I guess I truly want to thank the creators of this show. Watching something where you can absolutely tell the people making it cared about every little detail, every little character interaction, camera angle, dialogue and sound choice is incredibly gratifying and honestly heartwarming. I truly recommend this show to everyone, even if you don’t personally enjoy k-dramas, this is just a well-made show regardless. In fact, for me, it’s the best Korean Drama ever made.

S2 is copycat nightmare

Not many people see what is wrong with the narratives that the writer has been busy promoting with HP2. It all started with the choice of ending in Ep. 12 S1. And the world of HP came tumbling down from that point onwards. Firstly, they killed the good characterisation of the first pure hearted soul in the group in S1. And in S2, they repeated the formula with the final pure hearted soul i.e. Shwa. It makes me wonder how can majority of viewers fail to see the amount of efforts this writer and her co-writers put to revamp Ikjun and GU? How can viewers fail to see that S2 is the reverse of the good written S1? That Lee Woo Jung tried her level best to undo what she and her S1 co-writers (yes, they change the whole team in S2, iirc) had written for S1. I still remembers what Shin PD said, the Kalguksu is very important because it shows the dynamic in the group. From there we can see married IkJun cared about Uju, and Jwon's focal point is Shwa. By Ep. 10 of S1, Shwa has shown her preference towards Jwon. Their closeness follows through with DLL until it became non-existent to pave way for Ikjun and GU. This is just the mechanics of things i.e. the script, the directing, the plot. Meanwhile, you can find in other review about the lack of morality that the writer and pd have been promoting in the pretense of good behaviour of 40 years old professionals who make good decisions at work but suck at handling their personal lives, and not to mention act like kids in puberty. As a single and an independent good thinking career woman, I find this drama an insult to my intelligence. Am I to accept a guy who patronises my way of eating at the age of 40, in public, as a life partner? Am I to accept a manchild as my life partner? Because I am wayyy above the shelves and may not get a second chance so I will just have to be done with anyone? *sigh* I have lived my 41 years, never ever would I settle for less. If it means a life without a partner, then so be it. I am still happy and I dictate what I will do for myself. But to let someone who is selfish and flawed to boot to rule and patronise me... the door is on your left, dude.

People may watch drama for fun and flings and feelings, but I watch drama for some lessons to learnt. I don't waste hours for bullshits. For such a slice of life drama, HP2 fails miserably to depict real context of life by promoting toxic relationships and idiocy. In my definition, HP2 is a garbage full of carbon copies of other dramas/movies/musicals if viewers care to notice. The worse copycat or parody(?) attempts by this writer and her team of writers. If S1 is full of copies from her own previous works, S2 is above and beyond. They ventured out to pick scenes and ideas from other works. Well, the hospital stories in s2 are repetitive and such a bore. Fantasy where 0.0000001% patients die. The romance stories are too cliche, stupid and boring. Those female residents are high on hormones fighting for affections from their direct supervisors. The professors are repressed 40 years old who can't be relied on with regard to personal life issues. Is Yulje a love motel? My question, can Lee Woo Jung actually write her own original, interesting story without taking ideas from other writers?

So this is my answer. This writer is not worth my time. Her ideology is sick at best for me, personally. At any age, women should not be made to grovel for love and affection. These two things should come naturally if the man and woman are fated and meant to be partners. Have some dignity, ladies. When you are at 40, you have seen and learnt many things so as to not push yourself over a cliff for an affection. And don't get me started with this writer's making GU groveled and fixed on living a secret love affair, and not to mention using emotional blackmail, being manipulative when she herself is an abused victim. Lazy writing?

enjoyed every bit it

●HOW I CAME TO IT
I had just finished watching season1 of the HOSPITAL PLAYLIST which ended in a cliffhanger, thus here I am to relieve my agitation that it was a correct decision that I watched the show now while season 2 is just in time to have its finale episode.

●FIRST IMPRESSION
Hospital Playlist 2 has maintained its nostalgia of the previous season adding on romantic relationships and few family insights of our fantastic five doctors too. I didn’t have to wait a year to know what happened next. Since only finale episodes are remaining I am relieved even more and hope this doesn’t end in a cliffhanger.

●PLOT VIEW
The five doctors are still crazy for food and when they relish on food I practically get hungry and think that I really haven’t appreciated food them. They are also awesome professors who have worked endless hours to reach that point of success learning from mistakes too. Yes, the mistakes are the best teacher and our doctors also did some which are very fun to watch. They also keep on teaching their juniors that they are also human, not robots so it's fine to have emotions.
There are many departments in the hospital and everyone has to work in harmony to help the patients.
The romance is flavourful with sad and happy moments of everyone. The romance loaded with friendly and soft conversation makes every dialogue meaningful. The story has some flaws here and there but as we all know NO story is perfect, there have to be problems in life for humans need to fight and be happy. Besides the leads, there is also the friendship between others worth watching Andrea’s mom, hospital director, and suk Hyung's mom showing the elderly age but young at heart. then Jang Geol wol and Chu Min Ha, always there when a friend is needed. then Woo Ju, Mane, and Mone, although they are not shown still it feels great to hear the one stories from Woo Ju.
I really like the leather and chain episode and I wanted to say that guys come on record your videos and upload it on Youtube, cause you are inspiring whoever is watching the drama to live doing what makes one happy.

●ACTING/CAST
No complaints regarding it everyone is just marvelous. From the interns to professors, leads to supporting cast just brilliant.
the fantastic five didn’t just perform the role, they had it like they are meant for it.
Well surely they are favorites and my favorite is
Lee Ik Jun (Jo Jung Suk) cause he is all over the hospital and helps and cares for everyone. His wittiness brings an automatic smile to his face.
Kim Jun Wan (Jung Kyung Ho) had a style and honest impression of an eccentric character but he is warm just like the others.

●MUSIC
It is just awesome, each song they pick for the episode and the way it's molded with the scenes is thoughtful and extravaganza. The cover song, sung by the actors themselves gives a more etched feel to the story. For some reason, I actually wondered if the cast really played instruments and came to know that all band scenes are real and they have learned to play them.

●REWATCH
Yes, I will surely come back to relive my favorite moments from the show.

●APPRECIATION
I love that the professors teach their juniors in a calm manner other I had always got an earful during my internship days.
It is also good that they enjoy simple things and appreciate life.

●CRITICISM
The length of the series is so long like almost 100minutes of an episode.

●FAV SCENE
Reminiscing the first mistake
Planning of trip and the trip that happened.

●RECOMMENDATION
Since the drama is based on friendship and family, watch it if you want a realism feel.
don’t watch if you don’t like a long episode.

●QUOTES
Think only about your life and enjoy it everyday

●AFTERTHOUGHT
people in this generation cover songs and release them on YT. Even if the series ends these guys should have a YT channel and keep the band and then I came across a channel of YT having special Behind scenes. I am totally gonna watch them for I need more doses of Hospital Playlist.
If I had friends by my side now I would do something like this.

MY COMFORT DRAMA

If this drama is made until season 10, I will watch it!

The story, acting, music and everything in this drama feels right in proportion. The love story is warm and feels very interesting to continue watching it.

The writer of this drama, I really respect you!

Hope to see this doctor's friendship for a long time. They are all so good at acting that they form characters that are hard to forget!

As for the music, I really enjoyed them performing as a band and doing old songs that I liked too. The ost is also very touching, I still play the ost often and it's on my daily playlist.
