fluff with bad storyline

Was pretty excited for this initially but it turned out to be quite disappointing. Acting of the casts are decent but the storyline is so horrible. It’s all over the place and it’s all the build ups of the conflicts felt so useless seeing how they managed to solve it (e.g. yunzhu & her father).

Also, there were close to zero character development for the FL, she was naïve from the start to the end. She’s cute but she seriously needs to learn to become a better person. Regardless of what the situation was, she was still in the wrong for all the bad decisions she made.

I’m not sure if it’s a mango tv thing but the ending felt very rushed and the last part felt a bit pointless too, I know that there are two epilogues but still. Speaking of the epilogues, the proposal was so horrible. If i was proposed in this manner I would be so angry. How could one use a life and death matter to propose??? Is he in his right mind??? Though it’s probably because they want to show how she started being his bodyguard and ended the show with her being his bodyguard. Still, what a horrible way of presentation.

Overall, it is a fluff drama with not much story plot. And to be honest, towards the end, there wasn’t any fluff to it too soooo…

Unique premise, great chemistry, female lead not whiny

9/10 is my rating. This is a 2022 Chinese romantic comedy drama with a supernatural element. There are 24, 45 minute episodes.I read there were 22 regular episodes with two, 15 minute special episodes. The special episodes can be hard to find and the English subs were not very good.

First I will provide a synopsis then review.

Synopsis
After a tragic accident, Xu Nuo (Fan Shi Qi) is no longer able to feel any emotions. Having this disorder has made him ruthless and high successful in the business world but leaves a path if emotional destruction which resulted in many people wishing him harm. Ke Si Yi’s (Qu Yan Di) family has a mixed martial arts business that is in he cutthroat sites of Xu Nyo. When he seeks a body guard, Si Yi uses the opportunity to fill that role in order to get close to the cold executive and influence the decisions he makes around her family business. More than sparks fly between boss and bodyguard when they discover he physically feels her pain and she experiences all of his emotions. What in the Freaky Friday? The two must rely on each other to discover the mystery behind this strange transference. There are some deep ties in their past so fate has had a hand in their lives for awhile. Did fate have love in mind all long?

Review
A cute romantic comedy with a very compelling and unique premise. The cold executive gets humanized by the happy go lucky positive female lead trope. The slice of mixed martial arts was interesting. The second couple were super cute. The family relationships and friendships were heartwarming. The female lead was not overly whiney. She was kind with an inner strength. Some reviewer say she was stupid.I did not see her as stupid she was guileless so she did not play emotional games. People who are overly empathetic and not good deceivers can come off as simple and I think that is what some are responding to.

I recommend and would watch again.

Spoilers*.

Him experiencing her pain had me laughing out loud at times. When he is in a meeting taking invisible punches and others are looking at him like he has gone crazy it is funny. He would tell his lawyer friend to find Si Yi knowing she was up to something. They had great chemistry and the timing and pace of their love story was believable. When he was going through her menstrual pain it reminded me of a documentary where they hooked men up to electrical stimulation machines to stimulate menstrual cramps and they would tap out.

There we’re a few disappointing things in the end. When he worried his competitor might hurt her to extract revenge he publicly rejected her multiple times. The female lead did not believe him because she was so familiar with his feelings having experienced them on his behalf. When he made arrangements to have an actress as his girlfriend and cruelly announced to her that they were considering marriage it gave me Meteor Garden vibes. I understood what he was doing and he he thought it was necessary but thought he could have told her and she would not have been broken hearted. I wanted her to cooly walk away but instead she clung harder and I felt secondhand embarrassment.

it was a bit silly looking when the bad guy goes to run over him and she drives her scooter in the way them the two of them are like spinning in the road. I think they were trying to increase the drama and make you wonder who would get hit but it was ver unnatural looking. Then when she is unconscious and injured on the ground he screams “no” just like that famous scene with Darth Vader in Star Wars. It was similar in that her injury was the very thing he was trying to prevent but keeping her away ultimately caused it.

She wakes from the coma, he is in the room, and she does not pause for a second but embraces him in a hug. It is all over now the bad guy is on the way to jail so he can now go back to liking her. But she just forgave him with no explanation. Her friend gave her lawyer boyfriend a harder time and he was nowhere as cruel to her.

We got a lot of sad when she and he were dealing with broken hearts so their reunion being the last few minutes was not enough happy for me to make up for the sadness we were put through.

Not sure why, with Chinese dramas they have special episodes that are rarely available with the regular episodes and even harder to find with English subtitles. It is like they are providing the opportunity to stop with the regular episodes or, if you want more story, you watch the special episodes.

In the special episodes we see that she is willing to leave if he is being cold or unreasonable. We see an argument and them both struggling not to be the one to make up first. And we get the proposal. The very end is a triple wedding. I enjoyed it but would have liked it better with better translation.

Rom com too cliche ?

I really like Kris Fan, but this drama didnt do it for me. Sure some moments will get you lmao but other moments are kinda bland. The plot development is very illogical and choppy.

Female lead 's dad owns a boxing ring. She herself is good in fighting/boxing. She becomes the male lead's body guard. The male lead is a financial headhunter who doesnt have any emotions. this was due to an car accident which. took the life of his mom. After the accident he is not able to feel any emotions. The female lead became the bodyguard of the male lead because her dad's boxing ring was in danger of shutting down. The female lead has an over amount of emotions, while the male lead has none. They did a study together to help the male lead regain emotions anonymously. The male lead wanted to cancel the treatment because he felt it wasnt working, on the last treatment there was a mishap in the vr system , somehow they switched emotions/the ability to feel hurt. The female lead feels the emotions for the male lead, while the male lead feels any pain the female lead feels from period pains to high pains, punching pains... (some parts of this was funny) The female lead is the body guard but is also working undercover to release secret information to the male lead's competing company.

The female lead is a little too naive and dumb for my liking. Her logic is like no logic. haha she even thought the male lead liked her before finally figuring out that the pain inflicted on her will go to him. She still gave out his information withou his consent....

They got together at such a weird time... like it didnt even seem like the male lead liked her that much it was more that she had a very one sided crush...

The male lead also mistaken another girl to be the one that saved him from the car accident( of course its the female lead) . He was trying to find the girl the whole time..

their sweet moments are soo good, its like eating candy or drug haha super sweet

Annoying and dumb female lead character made me drop

I was excited to watch this drama because of Fan Shi Qi and Judy Qi and the familiar 2nd/3rd male leads were a plus, but Ke Si Yi (Judy Qi's character) is so annoying and dumb that I've decided to drop this.
Xu Nuo (ML/Fan Shi Qi's character) was fine and refreshing from the typical "domineering boss" characters in c-dramas since he was not unreasonably cold/cruel IMO and still had a human/warm side to him that is not only directed towards the female lead, who does not deserve it IMO.
KE SI YI though. I started this because I wanted to procrastinate and it was on my plan to watch list, but I regret the time I spent on it. She had potential as an MMA fighter, but all that potential ended up drifting into two other female characters who barely have screen time. For someone who was surrounded by such a competitive/tough environment, you would think she had some common sense or at some brain cells, but the only thing she is good at so far is MMA and cooking. Her character is the typical dumb/annoying/"cute"/"warm"/"friendly" female lead in these types of dramas, but she is by far one of the worse since she lacks sense in general. She is said to be extremely empathetic as well as have high morals/ethics, but she uses a dumb reason to go against them and for someone who is supposed to be that intuned with her own and other people's emotions, especially the ML's she would have a better understanding of how the world works (in a broad sense since I don't want to spoil anything if you do decide to watch it), but the female lead wants to make you punch a wall or ram your head into a wall.
I think the dubbing also made the voice too "cutesy" and childish so it was even more unbearable.

Watch at your own risk..

Story wise, it's not that creative. I have seen much more better shows than this one. The chemistry between the ML and FL is ok, but I feel like there's not enough sweetness shown here. There should be more, because this is an urban romance.

For an MMA fighter, there should be more action. A beautifully crafted fight scenes is necessary to add spice to the show.

I think the writers were a little lazy. The lies and the constant deception were the only cause of all conflicts in the show. It's actually a surprise that the ML and the FL still managed to be together in the end. The ending didn't have that punch too, hense the low rating.

Triste erreur x’D !
