Slow but lots of kissy moments if you are into that.

I guess I will give the a typical review. I didn’t love this drama like everyone else. If I could sum up the drama with one word it would be that I found it very Boring. And I LOVE boring dramas with low angst and high on kindness.

I watch all dramas with Tan Song Yun, who doesn’t like Under Your Power and Go Ahead but I will be honest, I haven’t found any new dramas with her in it that I have loved. Master of my Own and Flight to you have been sub-par at best with way too older ML and too angsty storyline.

I thought Road Home would be refreshing with a low angst drama and a younger ML, they are only 2 years apart! Yay.

The drama started out fine and I was really interested in the past dynamics, how did they fall in love during High School? Why did they break up? I was feeling the slight tension and I was overall curious.

Once they got together, it all went downhill from there. Maybe if I felt the chemistry between the two, I could have been sucked into their lovey dovely romance, because they do love on each other a lot. But I wasn’t feeling anything. I didn’t care for the dates or outings. I didn’t care for when they moved forward with their relationships.

I simply found everything boring. Maybe I’ll strike gold with her next drama?

Soothing in a low key kind of way

This drama will definitely not appeal to everyone, its not full of angst where our main leads are pulled all over the place. Equally its not a romantic comedy as the leads find themselves in outlandish situations. As a romantic drama its not even particularly dramatic, although it does have its moments.

So why watch it?

Simply put, I liked the fact that I was watching real adults who knew exactly what they wanted and found a way to each without lots on angst or drama.

This drama felt natural to me. From the friendships, the romance and even the issues with their families.

The overall pacing of the drama won't appeal to everyone, I personally liked that everything progressed at a similar pace throughout. This to me was refreshing compared to many of the other drama's I have seen.

The leads had really good chemistry throughout and talked through any issues they faced. Equally, they supported each other when they faced their own problems. Again this was I nice change pace for me. Generally, I don't see healthy communication in a lot of the drama's I've watched.

If your looking for a reflexing, yet moving story I would certainly give this a go.

I will start with the two main things I didn't love/like about this drama: the *astronomical* military propaganda and the last episode... it gave more context on Lu Chen's feelings and certain events but... I found it a tad boring. Two minor things I found meh were the way the adults took care of the kids lmao... they were just shipped around like some things, really sad. I also admit I enjoyed the romance the most when it took place in the winter time in Qining. That is when it truly peaked for me. Once our pretty couple got together, they got a little *too* sweet, sometimes I felt annoyed how much Lu Chen baby-ed the female lead: let her wash that glass of milk, don't treat her like she is incapable of doing things just because she is pregnant etc. like we get it, he is caring but sometimes it was a tad too much for my liking. One thing though: male lead's face never disappointed when he hugged Gui Xiao, he looked so at peace and happy, it made go crazy tbh !! The way they were looking at each other and their chemistry were so great, you could really feel their love for each other, it felt so real to me. The cinematography in this show was wow, just top notch, so pretty! Every episode felt like 5 minutes despite being 9x the length, i had such a good time watching several episodes at a time because it was such an easy watch. Overall, sweet and mature second chance romance; I'll repeat myself: the Qining episodes were *chef's kiss*.

I love both leads and waited for all the episodes to come out so I could watch to my hearts content! But by episode 20… I realized why so many said this was one episode too many. The leads had chemistry… but at least for me… not enough. It fizzled out and I actually found myself getting annoyed by FL’s cutesy-ness. ML was the typical stoic man of few words… only sometimes he was too stoic when she was trying to be too cute. FL didn’t seem to change much in 10 years and she was almost too understanding and too perfect with ML’s absence and profession I love her character so much more in Go Ahead.

The flashbacks would have been so much better early on instead of at the end. I would have loved more of the second CP and watched their story to the end. I’ve seen other dramas where they do a ML perspective but it’s short and sweet and totally works. This one… I sadly FF through even though it was the last episode.

Overall I think if you love the leads.. like A LOT, then you’re good to go!! If you just mid-like them then drama is just too long.

Travel show vibe with breathtaking scenery & best kissing scene!!

Even though I just loved lead's chemistry and the cinematography of this drama was way too beautiful...I have to say that it was quite bland, don't get me wrong I love dramas without unnecessary misunderstandings & other annoying yet predictable tracks but still, I believe we should have something to look forward to when we are watching a series of 30 episodes....It has soo many plotholes which kind of annoyed me a bit..I feel after they got back together that is where the story kind of ended because after that they were only kind of meeting after months & making out?At some point i felt like watching a travel show because the scenery was totally mesmerizing ?I have never seen a C-drama with better kissing scene, despite that, i don't know when they consummated and how she got pregnant?
I struggled to complete it tbh....I so wish we can have the same pair in a better show because they are just breathtaking and phenomenal!

So sweet and romantic

When 2 great actors come together with good writing and directing you get “RoadHome”. A story about reuniting lost love. Story slowly tells 2 people found love at a young age, lost it due to long distance relationship, and found each other again. Solid acting with gorgeous cinematography. A must watch if you are into romance. The female lead Seven Tan’s acting is so natural and effortless. Can’t help but laugh and cry with her.

So glad to see a Chinese drama with a career minded, strong, independent female lead, who is happy on her own and choose to be in a relationship because she know he is what she wants.

This is about two people that love each other and overcome obstacles to be together.

I dozed off many times

Makers of the show solely depended upon the lead cast of the show. The cast was a great choice, though. However, they forgot that there are several other factors that make a drama successful. The story was very regular and somewhat cliched and predictable. The music was so damn average.

The Good:
1. The star cast of the show, especially the leads
2. No unnecessary drama or viciousness in any of the characters.

The Bad(I would rather call it boring):
1. There was too much of going in and out of the past. The leads were a teen couple 11-12 years ago, before they parted their ways, and after meeting again several years later, both realize that they are still in love and rekindle their relationship. It was necessary to show the background in order to feel connected with their present day story, however in half of the show, the leads were just reminiscing their past only.
2. Lack of character development: As the story develops so do the characters. However, the supporting cast, doesn't grow at all.
3. Unrealistic sub-plots: The child of the 2nd male lead is sent to Beijing with the female lead so that she can get him admitted in a school. But this boy is sent to various other homes and people too. For example, the friend and colleague of the female lead just takes the child in, in her care as the female has to go with male lead for a 2 week long trip. The child's father is all cool with his son's living situation.
4. There was no development for 2nd leads. It's shown that the 2nd male lead(who happens to be the colleague and friend of the main lead) proposes the above mentioned friend and colleague of the female lead, but even after the leap of 2.5 years, they were still unmarried.
5. The SWAT team members act so juvenile and childish. It's like they have no work when ML and FL are around.
6. In one of the scenes, after giving birth, FL is trying to feed her baby while the ML(father of the baby) looks on. FL asks her to look away and feels very shy. I was like oh C''mon, girl, he's your baby daddy'.
7. As for the romantic moments, there were way too many staring lovingly in the eyes moments. The leads have chemistry, but bad screenplay is to be blamed for not using the romantic element correctly.

This is just a short list. There were so many annoying and boring moments. I actually slept through the scenes, and many of them I had to fast forward as they were taking toll on my nerves. All in all, it was dragging, boring and somewhat dull.

SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW STORY LINE AND BOOOOOOOOOOOOOORING

Actors did a good job in delivering their part.
Story is boring... for macho man Swat team I find them childish. Such as peeping on Jing BR and Seven and not letting them have space... childish and sickening attitudes.
Story is draggy... nothing exciting from beginning till ep 22 where I dropped.

The necessary switch of the male lead locations as well as taken up task where it was not even his base was unreal.

If you are romanticist then you may love this drama... I am a romanticist but this really is childish and not my cup of tea!

My All time Top 1 series now.

I used to think I can't get over the UTP couple. Lu Yi and Jin Xia got me hooked for more than 3 years. I have a hard time watching those two with new partners since their chemistry is unmatched.

Then Road Home got me. I'm 3 years older now and it made me realized that not everyone can work with our loved ones like the UTP couple. Their story is so good because they are together most of the time since their jobs are intertwined. So how about people who have different jobs or demanding jobs? Are they not allowed to experience love? Is love only shown when we are near our loved ones or if we have time for them? How about people from healthcare field or military field? If everyone just wants to be lovey dovey with their partner all the time then who would protect us or who would be there to care for us if we got sick?

Road home might not be for everyone because it shows the lonely sad of being in a relationship with someone in public service. It depicts how mature people love. How respect and understanding is the foundation of the relationship.

Lu Chen is not your typical ML. He doesn't know how to say sweet words. He always show his love through actions which might not be enough to some since he actually has limited time outside work. Which is why Gu Xiao is his perfect partner. Because after going through everything she emerged as a magnanimous person. She has her own career to take care of so she's not clingy and needy like before. Which is the perfect example for young women nowadays . We should be the most loving partner when they are around and have an amazing life when we are apart. These two are so great together that just them being doing simple things in life looks magical. ( cooking, cleaning and doing laundry ?)

I would not try to convince other people with other opinion to change their mind since we have different stories and cultures. But to those who are going through a heartbreak now I wish you can find your own Lu Chen ?

It's sweet and a little bit bitter romance drama.

This is the 2nd time that I write review. First, before the drama on airs, I read the novel version of that. The novel includes a bit angst. So, I don't like novel very much and it's okay for me to read and pass time. When the drama airs, I plan to wait to release all episodes and watch it because I want to skip angst scene that describe in novel. But I cannot wait and start to watch it. :P
Now I stuck in the drama, and I like it very much. The drama includes less angst than the novel and it follow the novel generally in overall and some part in detail. The cast choosing is perfect and they portray very well. Especially, the male lead's voice is so deep and manly, their eye contacts are very sweet. They perfectly nailed it together. ML is a man with few words and action.
I feel that it is good they don't miss out a chance together with each other because they are each other's first love. After ten years, they don't change and still miss and love each other. In my point of view, the drama version is better than the novel.
If any other who want to watch this drama but don't know it's good or not, please try to watch it.
