Highly anticipated for a reason

when I first heard they were adapting Unintentional Love story into a drama I was so excited but worried it wouldn't deliver. Thank goodness I was wrong. anyways loved this great show and great actors. Will definitely rewatch here's my general thoughts

- I think casting was good on this as the chemistry between the leads was wonderful. I also love Cha Seowon as Taejoon, he really brought manhwa taejoon to life for me
- the hugs were so soft and I love it
- pacing was good. even though some things happened fast you can tell the tried to spread the whole in show timeline to be a few months to a year so it makes sense.
- The biggest problem I had was that certain things felt fast due to the runtime of the show. I also felt the 2nd couple could have been more developed if they had more time. there's a lot of stuff in the manhway they just left out because it would take to long and I feel like that took away from the show. However, if you're watching this without the manhwa in mind then 10/10.
- overall this is one of my new favorite shows and I'll definitely be rewatching!!

it's been awhile since I loved a drama so much

my only wish is that it was a full 16 ep, hour ep drama, bc I wanted it to longer more.

having read the manhwa multiple times, the actors are exactly as I had imagined. there are scenes and dialogue lifted directly from the webtoon.

there are ppl who didn't enjoy things, and that's their right. but man, I don't see it. I found everything so satisfying.

overall, this is very much worth your time. it's possible you'll be a person who doesn't vibe, but considering it's #1 on iQIYI, #1 on Ratuken, #4 on TVing, and #1 on Weibo for foreign dramas, the majority of people are enjoying it. come join!

Most boring fish kiss ass show

How are the reviews for this show so good, when the show such a disaster?

Fell asleep halfway through every episode.

The story itself was lacklustre as the premise was not clear and relied solely on the chemistry on the actors (which there wasn’t any was). A rush through the story and relationship seem to also happen with one moment the characters being mortal enemies to the next being soulmates which really harmed the realism and pacing of the story, making it hard to enjoy. The actors were good-looking and that was what saved me from giving up on the series entire because the chemistry and over exaggerated acting was really off-putting at times. Plus, one of the main love interests also seemed to cherish this power imbalance that he had with the other lead which further made the atmosphere uncomfortable even when they got into a relationship. The kisses were mostly teases to the audience which was more akin to fish kisses on the actors part to try to sell the premise of the show being a BL and keep fans somewhat satisfied with the show barely making it into the BL category.

Overall, I would not watch this series again. It was a slog to get through and I had to force myself to get to the end of the series. There are so many other better BLs and Korean BLs to watch, so, I would suggest watching them instead as this is really not worth you time.

HEART TO HEART

I have just finished watching UNINTENTIONAL LOVESTORY and I am way up for it.

There's always been one challenge with Korean BL dramas and that's the fact that even with a great storyline and plot, they tend to have a very short run time, no offense I don't watch series with episodes that are roughly shorter than 25 mins However interesting the plotline is unless it's an anime, but anyway, that's not my main point here.

Unintentional Love Story had probably the best vibe that I have seen in a Korean BL drama in a long time and with the duration of 35 mins per episode I must say that it was enough time for us to explore the story in detail.

The things that I have loved about this series are very many and I'll give them all in detail.

To begin with, there's a cute age-gap between our male leads, it seems like 2023 is the year of romantic age-gaps, not to mention the fact that I am fascinated by the maturity of the characters and Ji Wonyoung's naivety makes him so easy to like while on the other hand The joon's reserved personality has you swooning over him.

The characters start off on the wrong foot but I love the way that their differences slowly start to subside and they start falling for each other without knowing it, in a way the story isn't rushed but it becomes more perfect as they all start to open up to each other and even embrace themselves despite the many things that they go through.

One thing however that I was dying to have a sweet glimpse of is our second bl couple which in my context was denied some time and attention which could have made the series a bit more interesting but I liked their little moments of playing hard to get with one another that kept the story interesting.

So far this is one of my best Korean BL'S of 2023

Cohesive story makes this one of the best BL dramas of the year

The main power of a story is knowing how to be interesting even in the smallest things and, in this regard, Unintentional Love Story is very effective.

The characters have depth and are worked with great delicacy, but without being pedantic: the objectives are concrete, the characters are deep and the development coherent. There are no script holes that bother. Each episode being between 35 and 40 minutes makes this Drama one of the most coherent that Korea has ever produced in the BL genre.

The actors performances are consistent, although not all are amazing. The main couple has a lot of power and the secondary is also interesting.

The mise-en-scene bothers me because, many times, there are blurry things on the screen just to avoid ads. It's hard not to notice.

In the end, a pleasant and big surprise.

Secrecy, betrayal, earnestness, age gap

A boy who just lost his job due to faked corruption charges accidentally discovers his ex-boss's favorite artist, now a recluse. His ex-manager offers him his job back if he can convince the artist to rejoin society. Instead, they fall in love. Gongchan (maknae of B1A4) carried this show (which I don’t expect from the idol element).

He was luminous with extraordinarily expressive eyes. That said, he had weak chemistry with his co-lead. But everything else was quietly queerly KBL pristine and beautifully executed, even the conflict. I’m not sure on rewatchability for me, and it didn’t whip me into a verbal frenzy the way some KBLs do but it’s still a solid enjoyable show. Bummer about the limited distribution.

Unintentionally in Love with this K-BL

I've seen a few comments from people explaining how this series didn't feel just stuck in the "K-BL" category for once, but that it branches out into the "K-Drama" field as well. It has everything that a basic K-drama would have, and more. We also get a good amount of episodes that are at least 30 minutes, which didn't only take me 2 hours and a daiquiri to finish.

Let's Dive In.

Since I've freed up some of my hectic space (living in Korea for 4 months lol) I've decided to come back and hop onto the K-BL genre first. I'm glad I started with this once or else I could've very easily fallen back into a "BL-Block" hole. Unintentional Love Story was surprisingly so well put together. Down to the very budget of this series, it provided a perfect amount of drama, comedy, and romance. The story is a pretty basic setup, but throw in some cute actors, a decent budget, as well as pottery, and you have yourself a success story.

I think its weakest aspect was, of course without surprise, the kiss scenes. They would completely sell me with their chemistry and then ruin it with a dead fish kiss. I'd rather they'd not kiss cause the two leads actually had a great connection. Even their hugs and little longing stares were nice. I just wish they would've taken that extra step to really sell me on it, or had just not committed to it at all. But this is a little complaint, and the kissing didn't necessarily ruin the series for me, but with the BL industry somewhat booming right now, it's the small details like this that will bring them further down than the rest.

The secondary couple was doing so great, with their storytelling and intricate plot, but then it falls a little at the end. I wish they would've gone more in-depth with their romance, but I'm not upset with what we got. I like that we're seeing the second couple in K-BLs now, it's a really nice touch.

Rating:

Story: 8.5/10 - The plot was the best part. The script is well done, the actors commit to their roles and pull them off perfectly. Some parts were a bit draggy, mostly the office jargon that I usually yawn at. I wish they would've done some more with the secondary couple, but it wasn't a total bust.

Acting: 9/10 - Great! Wonyoung stood out the best, Taejoon not too far behind. The rest of the actors were good, they truly did a great job. Some hiccups, but overall, it's good.

Music - 6.5/10 - I didn't pay attention to the music (like I usually don't) but I couldn't help but think that some of the background music felt like I was watching a Hallmark movie. Just made me giggle a bit.

Recommendation value: 7.5/10 - Would really recommend this one, a perfect dose of good story and good romance.

Very good series

I really enjoyed this series. The story was different enough to keep me interested and I felt like any of the issues that came up were justified instead of ridiculous. The pacing made sense and there weren't silly misunderstandings or miscommunications to the extent there usually is in BL dramas. Maybe because they were all adults and more mature than high school or university students but either way, it made for a great watch.

There were a lot of cute moments between the main couple though if you aren't a fan of lack-luster dead-fish kisses, be prepared that's all you get from them.

The secondary couple was interesting and cute together with better chemistry, in my opinion. But they didn't get much of a resolution and everything between them felt a little disjointed to me. I'd love to see a series that focused more on them to be able to understand better what was going on and to see them really come together.

This was one series where the music really helped along the feel of the scenes and I found myself actually paying attention to, unlike the BLs that play the same two songs every episode.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this series to anyone who likes decent storytelling and cuteness between the leads.

Rich Gay Drama Storytelling

Unintentional Love Story" is a gem among BL series, especially for those seeking more mature storytelling beyond the traditional fluffy BLs. The plot revolves around Ji Won Young, an innocent victim of a corruption scandal that cost him his job. Determined to reclaim his position, Won Young embarks on a journey to find the chairman's favorite artist, Yoon Tae Joon, who vanished from the spotlight. What unfolds is a captivating tale of self-discovery, questioning one's identity, and the complexities of love.

Ji Won Young's journey is a rollercoaster of emotions as he faces unjust consequences due to his superior's scandal. Determined to right the wrong, he sets out on a heartfelt mission to find the missing artist, Yoon Tae Joon. Won Young's internal turmoil and growing feelings for Tae Joon add depth to the narrative, making us question our own assumptions about sexuality and motivations.

The heartwarming tale unfolds as Won Young attempts to win back Tae Joon's love, leading to a remarkable transformation in both characters. The healing process and growth in their relationship is a heart-tugging journey that resonates with the audience, showcasing the power of love and forgiveness in overcoming relationship trauma.

Another delightful aspect of the series is the second couple, Dong Hee and Ho Tae, who share a childhood friendship. After many failed straight relationships, Ho Tae has come to the conclusion it is because he has always harbored feeling for Dong Hee. Ho Tae's pursuit of Dong Hee, driven by his genuine feelings and love, makes for a compelling storyline. Dong Hee's reluctance to accept Ho Tae's advances stems from his respect for Ho Tae’s mom and her acceptance he received from her. He wants to spared Ho Tae of hardship as a gay man. It's a tale of two hearts finding their way to each other, culminating in an exciting promise of a season 2.

"Unintentional Love Story" beautifully captures the magic of love amidst life's challenges. It steers away from shallow storytelling and instead focuses on authentic character development and emotional depth. It is a testament to Korea’s ability to produce adult-oriented series that transcend clichés like Thai adult BLs like "Unforgotten Nights" and "Bed Friend," which often rely on explicit content rather than meaningful storytelling.

For BL enthusiasts seeking a more profound and thought-provoking adult gay dramas, "Unintentional Love Story" is a must-watch. It leaves viewers with a sense of hope and happiness, proving that love can indeed conquer all, even in the face of life's obstacles.

Good acting with great production!

Everything about this drama was really great. However, one thing that I thought was lacking was the main leads' final kissing moment. I just felt that both actors were uncomfortable during this specific scene, which I believe and knew that they could've done better for that finale episode.

For the second lead, my only thought is that I wanted more from them. I wish we could've seen a really good progression in their relationship. I just felt that since their story span a very long time ago, I just thought that their emotions were just about to burst during this present moment.

IMO, Believe the bad reviews

This could have been so good but it was NOT. I thought KBL has matured and moved away from their dead fish, frozen statue, no mouth movement, lip press that they call a kiss but I can tell you it sure made an epic comeback with this one. I have said it time and time again, it’s better to not have a kiss scene than have whatever this series gave us claiming it was a kiss.
The acting was decent but not anything great that would have made up for those dead ass fish kisses and that ending, really?
Anyways, I won’t stop anyone who reads the “bad reviews” from going ahead to watch because we all have a right to choose (I am a strong believer of people’s right to choose), doesn’t stop any one people from having their own opinions, taste and all, hence why you see almost every product having a review section but at the end of the day, no matter the reviews read everyone still has to make their own choice. And who knows this may be to your liking but for me it was not my cup of tea.
The only thing I enjoyed in this series was the OTS.
The overall and rewatch value is actually Zero but because that’s not an option I have to go with 1. But I strongly DO NOT recommend this.
