Matthew Ko is a Hongkongese actor under TVB. He attended Pui Ching Primary School. At the age of 10, he immigrated to Toronto, Canada, with his family, where he completed his primary and secondary education. He later studied business administration at York University, majoring in marketing.

In 2004, he returned to Hong Kong to work as a model.

In September 2014, Matthew Ko chose not to renew his contract with TVB, ending his nine-year association with the company. He then ventured into Mainland China and became a managed artist under the Shengshi Qiangyin Company.

In August 2015, he invested over a million Hong Kong dollars with a friend to open an izakaya in Cheung Sha Wan, featuring yakitori and Wagyu beef. Matthew Ko personally participated in various aspects of the restaurant, from cleaning and purchasing to cooking.

In September 2020, Matthew Ko returned to TVB and signed contracts with both TVB and Shaw Brothers. His contract with Shaw Brothers is set to end in 2023.
