Shun is a tattoo-clad 3rd generation orphan in China. Shun and two others assist the police in undercover investigations in the fictional town of Midori, where illegals live. "Quartet" is a serious and violent look at the underbelly of a society where people are treated as slaves and used as test dummies for illegal manufactured drugs. ~~ Adapted from the novel "Quartet" (カルテット) by Osawa Arimasa (大沢在昌). Fukada Saki looked amazing in this drama. Tattoos, cropped blonde hair and a permanent glare. She was also the most compelling character in the drama.

The plot revolved around illegal Chinese residents in Japan and the drug trade that occurs in the Chinese ghettos of Japan. It would have been nice to hear some dialogue about the social issues behind the illegal residents of Japan but the drama doesn't go that deep.

Interesting plot lines and characters but the execution came off as lacking. Some more depth to the characters, both lead and supporting would have made this drama a better watch.

The side characters did not experience as much character growth as I would have liked and the ending was too abrupt for me.

A good drama with interesting plot and characters but lacks depth.

Story: The whole story was brilliantly written and scripted. I loved every second, from the violence and drama to the slightly humorous scenes. I only wish the drama was longer, as the episodes don’t even hit 30 minutes long. It is a very short drama, one you could watch in a couple of hours. But it is good none-the-less. Everything was so interesting, with the Japanese and Chinese mixed together. It is definitely worth watching.

Music: The music set the mood of the scenes really well, but it isn’t anything memorable in my opinion.

Cast/Acting: Fukuda Saki, who plays Shun, was just as amazing as she was in IS: Otoko Demo Onna Demo Nai Sei. I think she was even better in this drama, with all that angst and violence. There are several scenes where she has to speak Chinese and does it really well. I loved Takeru’s character. Matsushita Yuya did a great job being the comedy of the drama. There were a few moments where I didn’t really believe him, but he still was amazing.
