  • 2gether

    1. 2gether

    Thai Drama - 2020, 13 episodes

    10

2gether was my first ever BL and I won't ever forget it... SarawatTine have my whole heart!!
I know this is one of those BLs that is probably considered mediocre and has less skinship than the usual but music was the main focus of the story which I actually liked. This series was top tier in 2020 and still is to this day which means this will always be a top favorite of mine no matter what happens.

Btw it also has the best opening theme song and OST I've ever came across in a BL series, so don't be surprised if you catch me headbanging to Scrubb like there is no tomorrow.

  • Bad Buddy

    2. Bad Buddy

    Thai Drama - 2021, 12 episodes

    10

I think Bad Buddy is the most well-rounded BL series I've ever watched.
The "rivals-to-lovers" trope/concept was done so well (Pran & Pat delivered) and the story was simply carefree yet very entertaining. It's seriously the best of the best, a must watch, a comfort show, and an unforgettable memory.

  • Theory of Love

    3. Theory of Love

    Thai Drama - 2019, 12 episodes

    10

Not going to lie, this BL was a roller-coaster of emotions but it was well worth all the tears.
The story can be quite frustrating but the crying scenes (Third understood the assignment) were taken to another level and character development was spot-on (Khai really redeems himself). Also, the variety of films described enhanced the storyline extremely well and the cinematography is the best I've seen from a Thai drama. This series will always be a top contender for me without a doubt, no questions asked.

  • Semantic Error

    4. Semantic Error

    Korean Drama - 2022, 8 episodes

    10

I didn't expect Semantic Error to be this good!!! It literally has to be the best Korean BL I've ever watched!! They're setting the bar up way too high now, nothing will compare!!
I mainly watched this drama for Park Seo Ham (he was my bias of KNK too before he left the group) but surprisingly the story had such great progression (it was too fast or slow), acting wasn't awkward or stiff, the chemistry and tension was amazing (top-tier for sure), and directing/production quality was on point. I seriously have no complaints, everything turned out to be absolutely perfect.

Btw I can't get over the height difference omg!

  • Love in the Air

    5. Love in the Air

    Thai Drama - 2022, 13 episodes

    9.0

The only BL on this list that I have watched twice... I know I'm shocked about it too!
I don't think a series ever made me smile so big like this one did, it was somehow refreshing in a way and yes, the story isn't perfect (some moments were a big fat "wtf") but Love in the Air is one of the better BLs in my opinion. The only thing I didn't really like was the series as a whole was broken up into two parts, it made me prefer one story over the other (huge Prapai stan here if you can't tell).

  • Bed Friend

    6. Bed Friend

    Thai Drama - 2023, 10 episodes

    9.0

Ahhh Bed Friends was soooo good!!!! My cheeks hurt from smiling too much!!!!
I had harsh judgement after watching the first episode and thought the story was mediocre. However, I admit it wasn't perfect and editing was extremely choppy too (not sure why they would cut to architectural scenes all the time) but all in all this was a satisfying series that I was invested in from beginning to end. The visuals, chemistry, and tension from/between Uea and King was freaking booming and literally the best. Also, the ending made me cry, it was a simple marriage proposal and nothing extravagant or cheesy which I absolutely adored.

  • Between Us

    7. Between Us

    Thai Drama - 2022, 12 episodes

    9.0

Some of you people made me believe that this series was actually going to be garbage.
A lot of the reviews and comments of this series on MDL are so negative but if you ask me, Between Us is way better than Until We Meet Again. I admit, the story was a slow burn with a lot of push-and-pull, back-and-forth, and draggy moments... like this could have been 10 episodes long but the raw/real and lovey-dovey scenes between WinTeam is what carried and I'm not upset.

  • Ameiro Paradox

    8. Ameiro Paradox

    Japanese Drama - 2022, 8 episodes

    9.0

I didn't expect much from Ameiro Paradox, so it is a complete shock that I actually enjoyed this one.
I think I was pretty harsh on this drama in the beginning, story seemed pretty basic but it got a lot better after each episode and chemistry was there between the leads (some scenes were actually steamy). The ending was rushed though, they really could have given us another episode or two but I take what I can get and at least it was a happy one.

  • Fukou-kun wa Kiss Suru Shikanai!

    9. Fukou-kun wa Kiss Suru Shikanai!

    Japanese Drama - 2022, 8 episodes

    9.0

I enjoyed this series so much, it was a breath of fresh air, not problematic and just simply fun.
The acting was surprisingly good, I didn't cringe once but I maybe have felt a little secondhand embarrassment. The chemistry between the leads wasn't awkward or stiff either, they looked super comfortable around each other.

  • Color Rush

    10. Color Rush

    Korean Drama - 2020, 8 episodes

    9.0

Nothing in this drama made much sense but I turned out to be a Color Rush fan.
The story could have been written in a way where things connected better but the color rush idea is super unique and something I never really seen done before. I did fall in love with the characters though and I think the leads had good chemistry (they lowkey made me scream a few times).

  • Cherry Blossoms After Winter

    11. Cherry Blossoms After Winter

    Korean Drama - 2022, 8 episodes

    8.5

I enjoyed this series so much!!! It made me smile and giggle like a little kid.
Tae Sung and Hae Bom were made each other and their love for one another grew beautifully. They served all the lovey-dovey moments I was looking for in a Korean BL series and the acting wasn't awkward, nor did anyone look stiff and uncomfortable (it was surprisingly good). The story does have a lot of flaws though, like it did feel rushed, everything was crammed in 8 episodes that were around 25 minutes long and the production was also low budget but they did their best with what they had.

Btw another height difference couple that won't be forgotten from my mind.

  • Cutie Pie

    12. Cutie Pie

    Thai Drama - 2022, 12 episodes

    8.5

I was hesitant about watching this drama because the reviews and comments on MDL are terrible.
I'm not quite sure what the problem is here because I enjoyed the series a lot. The story might not be the best but it tackles LBGTQ rights which is extremely important and never addressed properly in other BLs. The chemistry between all three couples was hot and spicy and the only thing that really annoyed was the communication. Everyone was keeping a secret from their significant other which was stupid and made no sense to me but it is what it is in the end. Still a BL series I wouldn't mind recommending to others.

  • Until We Meet Again

    13. Until We Meet Again

    Thai Drama - 2019, 17 episodes

    8.5

A decent/tolerable/good BL series but I wouldn't ever consider this a top favorite of mine.
I think the story as a whole was a little far-fetched and some scenes were repetitive or unnecessarily long. However, many important topics were talked about in this series, like homophobia (also addressed in Between Us), suicide, reincarnation, friendship, forgiveness, and acceptance which was all written in a unique way while using the red thread of fate as the main foundation.

Btw how Pharm said "P'DEEEEAAANNNN" was annoying at times but totally iconic now lmao.

  • You Make Me Dance

    14. You Make Me Dance

    Korean Drama - 2021, 8 episodes

    8.0

Cho Young Woo made me come here and surprisingly I enjoyed this drama for the most part.
Honestly, this BL wasn't grabbing my attention in the first episode but it turned out better than I thought. The story is a little rushed overall but everything actually flowed nicely while only having 8 episodes and 15 minutes each to work with, so well done.

Btw I swear Won Hyung Hoon (Hong Seok) looks like a little bit like Kim Kwon!

  • Utsukushii Kare

    15. Utsukushii Kare

    Japanese Drama - 2021, 6 episodes

    8.0

Utsukushii Kare is one of those guilty pleasure BL series that isn't the greatest (can't tell you how many times I cringed) but is so entertaining and I was invested until the very end.

There is nothing particularly wrong with the story, everything flowed nicely while fitting well in 6 episodes and acting was surprisingly good. The characters are a little bit hard to warm up to at first but once I understood the leads and their personalities I learned to adore them as human beings who are navigating their first relationship.

  • Jun & Jun

    16. Jun & Jun

    Korean Drama - 2023, 8 episodes

    7.5

You have to go into this BL series with low expectations because this one truthfully isn't the best.
There is really no story/concept and it was definitely too short but there was still enough to satisfy. The chemistry between the leads is what carried the entire series, they didn't disappoint, especially with the kiss scenes (they had me giggling for sure). I think Jun & Jun is a fun, relaxing, and quick watch overall, so I enjoyed the series regardless.

  • Utsukushii Kare Season 2

    17. Utsukushii Kare Season 2

    Japanese Drama - 2023, 4 episodes

    7.5

I think I prefer the first season slightly over the second but both series didn't disappoint.
I wish these 4 episodes were in the first season, it was kinda dumb to make a second season with not much to work with but whatever I'll take what I can get. I didn't like how they carried the whole "I like you, but do you like me?" scenario to the second season. A lot more insecurities and concerns arose between Hira and Kiyoi which infuriated me a little bit but at least there was another happy ending.

  • My Engineer

    18. My Engineer

    Thai Drama - 2020, 14 episodes

    7.5

My Engineer was the second BL I ever watched but I knew there were better ones out there.
It is really not a bad series overall, however, the story as whole just wasn't amazing to me but the comedy is gold and the side couples really carried. MekBoss was my favorite couple and KingRam really delivered while DuenBohn were just tolerable to watch and nothing more.

If season 2 were to ever happen, I would watch for sure but I doubt we will ever get a second season since it has been a few years now.

  • Old Fashion Cupcake

    19. Old Fashion Cupcake

    Japanese Drama - 2022, 5 episodes

    7.5

I expected more from Old Fashion Cupcake because a lot of people on MDL loved this BL but it wasn't my cup of tea.
It is definitely not the worst drama I have ever watched but I didn't find the story that exciting and mainly thought it was cute, fluffy and slightly boring, nothing more nothing less. The couple is more mature than the usual, there is a total grown-up vibe from this series which was refreshing to see.

  • Don't Say No

    20. Don't Say No

    Thai Drama - 2021, 12 episodes

    7.0

I can't say this is the best BL I have ever watched but I enjoyed Don't Say No for the most part.
If I'm being honest there was really nothing special about the story, it was lowkey frustrating at some parts too especially when it came to Fiat's parents and the communication between Fiat and Leo. However, Fiat and Leo were such a visual couple omg!!! In every scene they looked so good and their chemistry is seriously the best like they took it to the next level. This is what carried the series for me. They also gave my boys Leon and Pob a sad ending... yeah no thank you!!

  • Choco Milk Shake

    21. Choco Milk Shake

    Korean Drama - 2022, 11 episodes

    7.0

Yeah, this is probably the weirdest BL miniseries I have ever watched.
Storyline is lowkey bazaar but somehow this was still an enjoyable watch. Acting was actually good and is what carried for me, plus the cinematography didn't look cheap so the production value looks nice.

P.S. Milk is my favorite! All eyes on him.

  • Naughty Babe

    22. Naughty Babe

    Thai Drama - 2023, 8 episodes

    7.0

Overall, the story was meh to me and not anything memorable (a little cheesy at times too) but everything else was pretty great (had moments when I laughed). Diao and Yi's chemistry has always been hot, so the kiss and bed scenes have been nothing but superior!!! The ending was fantastic and I'm so happy they started a family of their own.

Btw Nong the puppy and Yi's father were the real stars of this series.

  • TharnType Season 2: 7 Years of Love

    23. TharnType Season 2: 7 Years of Love

    Thai Drama - 2020, 12 episodes

    6.5

The fact that I slightly enjoyed TharnType 2 more than the first season is such a surprise!
I was expecting to dread this series as much as the first but in no way is it a new favorite of mine or anything. Tharn and Type's love didn't even feel like 7 years... more like 7 months which is disappointing since I expected to see some sort of maturity but at least there was a little bit of character development, especially from Type. Btw the last 2 episodes were honestly so boring, no lie I could have fallen asleep. The breakup was unnecessary and Type becoming a monk was something I didn't understand.

  • To My Star

    24. To My Star

    Korean Drama - 2021, 9 episodes

    6.5

Another popular BL on MDL but for some reason I couldn't get into this one like everyone else.
Again not a terrible drama by any means, it was such a cute and simple series, the couple really didn't disappoint with the kiss scenes but I wasn't amazed with To My Star like I expected better especially because of the hype. I don't know if I'll ever watch the second season, maybe in my free time but I won't push myself.

  • Because of You

    25. Because of You

    Taiwanese Drama - 2020, 10 episodes

    6.0

I didn't think much of this BL series at first but it is actually quite good despite the episodes being so short.
There obviously isn't much to the story obviously, and I thought it was weird how one character was speaking in Korean and the rest were speaking in Chinese but I did fall in love with a lot of the characters. This series could definitely use a second season, it was talked about but once again probably never going to happen even though I would watch.

  • Color Rush Season 2

    26. Color Rush Season 2

    Korean Drama - 2022, 8 episodes

    5.5

I expected way more but I knew Color Rush 2 was going to be disaster without Hur Hyun Jun.
This season just wasn't doing anything for me, as the story was even more confusing (and boring) than the first even though the acting was actually quite better but it wasn't enough. Lowkey if there was ever a season 3 I would probably watch... I know call me a psychopath but I got this far!

  • TharnType

    27. TharnType

    Thai Drama - 2019, 12 episodes

    4.0

Oh my god, probably the worst BL series I ever watched in my entire life and it probably deserves lower than a 4 star rating but I'm being generous.
I don't care, I will not sugarcoat this into something it wasn't. I really tried to enjoy this BL for the most part but the more I look back on the series, the more I hate it. There was too much toxicity with the story and couple, Type was a jerk and Tharn was a doofus, must I explain more? I thought about watching season 2 just to see how bad it is but I don't want to torture myself with the misery (it happened, I watched the second season).
