Applause, applause.. I started watching this to fill up the void after finishing Penthouse 2 and waiting for Season 3, knowing that this was another makjang drama written by the same Kim Sun Ok, I had great expectations while binging on this drama. YES this was a great drama, don't let the historical / king-queen concept fool you, this was set in 2019 as a constitutional monarchy like The King: Eternal Monarch so it is modern ! Everything was good, from start to the end, it was total makjang and the plot is crazy, the Empress Dowager is crazy-crazy evil , even going out to kill her loved ones for herself. Lee Hyuk's character switches on and off between evil, good and comical especially towards the end. Even though this was makjang, it had comedic elements here and there so it doesn't get all too dramatic. However though, as it reaches towards the last few episodes of the drama, I could tell the concept and storyline of the drama was starting to shift towards another focus, at first It started off with Na Wang-sik's revenge plot towards Lee Hyuk but then towards the end, we couldn't even see much of Wang-sik's story as the story started to shift towards other things. And unfortunately, Choi Jin-hyuk who played Na Wang-sik couldn't attend the filming for the last 4 episodes due to schedule conflicts so it was quite sad and till the end we could only see a stuntman or replacement acting in place for him, that's why this drama lost my 0.5 star LOL because HE NEEDED TO BE THERE, the whole show started because of his plot !!! Other than that, everything was good. Jang Na-ra's acting KYAAA doesn't disappoint. Don't let the low ratings on MDL fool you, I personally think this was a good worth of time, but it's a bit lengthy.

APPRECIATE

Super short series. Looks dull and boring but if you can appreciate its beauty and what the show is trying to say, wow . 'When do we become adults?' though the show could be longer and have a more storylines, 4 episodes is enough to do so. It shows us how teenagers think nowadays and adolescents grow up, going through many thoughts, school, academic, family problems. As I'm also 17, I could probably relate to it as well so it stayed in my heart after watching it. Park Sieun (FL) was really prettyyy in this show omg (my bias) ... FL goes through stress and pressure to play well as a pianist from her divorced mother and her father who marries his mistress, and goes through sexual harrassment but she doesn't care so she becomes a call girl and accidentally meets the ML as he founds out about her secret. ML goes through heart break and disappointment to see his mother cheating on his father.. Two meet each other through fate and coincidence as he has a crush on the FL but both wants to end their lives. At the end, they talked to each other heart to heart when they were about to end their lives at Oi-do and feels bad for their parents so they head back.. and they held hands AHHHH beST PART at the end and fell asleep on the train back to Seoul with their heads lying on each other's shoulders implying they rely on each other now !! This drama needs you to read between the lines and appreciate the plotline to fully understand what's going on so it's prob why many gave this a low rating as they didn't rly understand and appreciate. But this deserves a higher rating for sure. The cinematography was amazing,it was dark but aesthetically pleasing as well. The OST fits well as well with the melo sad music, really like the song ^^ . Anyways 9/10, Sieun debuted with STAYC so idk if we can see her again acting in more shows but I hope so

Just not my cup of tea

Despite all the good reviews about this drama, I couldn't continue the drama from Ep 11 onwards, it felt really draggy and boring, I started to use my phone often watching the show as I was bored so I also missed out alot of scenes. I watched this at first for Jung Dabin, but she didn't even come out yet HAHAHA but then Kyunsang and Soobin was in it so it was okay. The start was little draggy but was quite interesting, then it slowed down and I didn't know what was happening. I think it would really be a great drama if I appreciated the show but I couldn't continue anymore.

THIS IS NOT YOUR TYPICAL ROMCOM **

FIRST OF ALL. I was speechless after watching this LOL omg what in the world did I just witnessed?? I really didn't want to write a review but I think I have to , especially seeing all the negative reviews I saw here. Ok firstly, I love Soobin so I waited for this to come out and the cast is amazing, Jang Ki-yong, Krystal and Chae Soobin? WTH. Ok anyways, so it all starts off seeing a chubby guy (Lee Jang-hyuk) entering a hospital meeting a nurse called Da-eun and falls in love with her. We see them flirting and ending up together then he "LOSES weight" to become slim, and that's where the story changes. There is a plot twist but it's all revealed at the end of the movie, but I won't go much into it. I really really hated it when the male lead was getting shaken up by Bo-young and starts to cheat on Da-eun with her, like I felt so bad for Da-eun and there was PREGNANCY involved but they lost the baby (didn't say how), I think they aborted it or smth. But anyways, the twist at the end shows two perspective of both the female lead and male lead, both of them were "unloyal" to each other technically. But, I have to say that the male lead was mostly at fault here, he neglected her, cheated on her, even when he tried his best to accommodate to her, it wouldn't work out because he was tired from work. But even so he should still have taken better care and attention to her, that made the female lead change. Both of them "cheated" on each other, but I think that Da-eun "cheated" on him when their relationship was already over, like it had already fallen apart, so she took comfort in the other Jang-hyuk who she met. Even when her ex-Jang-hyuk came to his senses and tried to win her back again, it was already over, too late. And then we see him going back to Bo-young, wow what an ass actually. I couldn't give a rating for this movie because IDK HOW TO, like it actually did make me immersed the whole time I didn't even look away or check my phone, so I'll give it to them for this. The story, was unexpected like unexpected unexpected, could have ended it at the cliche reunion but it didn't, took a unique twist and that's fine. In a sense, both of them got their own happy ending. So I think it deserves a 9, not saying the story is bad, but it is unique and interesting, so it really doesn't deserve such a low rating. It is more mature in a sense, so I guess many people won't like it especially for international fans (according to MDL). Yea, but I enjoyed it. Props to the cast and their acting, story was unique and good too. Though there is also the emotional rollercoaster, like this movie is actually heartbreaking in a sense, but it depends. I felt like they covered up the heartbreaking melo part of this movie with the editing, music and romcom plot. Like I'm still heartbroken for Da-eun, even at the end, she looks confused and done. The title really portrays the movie so well, SWEET AND SOUR. Wow this was ACTUALLY SWEET AND SOUR
