loving the 2nd couple

This is a review for the second couple, I seriously love their story so much.

Their dynamic is so cute!!! I liked them since their first meeting & i really like their characters. One is slightly naive, warm hearted and only see the good in others, while the other is cold on the outside but warm on the inside, having a deep secret and a past which he couldn’t get over.

I personally think the plot was very well planned. They initially started out as strangers or neighbours, and interacted because of something. They then become friends over time and he eventually fall for her even without himself knowing. The plot where they had an obstacle, and where he eventually realised his liking for her was very good too!

I really highly recommend people to watch their story!

The casts themselves portrayed these characters very well, and the details they acted out made it even more realistic and touching too!

The OSTs are decent, and I would really rewatch this drama for their scenes!!!

fluff with bad storyline

Was pretty excited for this initially but it turned out to be quite disappointing. Acting of the casts are decent but the storyline is so horrible. It’s all over the place and it’s all the build ups of the conflicts felt so useless seeing how they managed to solve it (e.g. yunzhu & her father).

Also, there were close to zero character development for the FL, she was naïve from the start to the end. She’s cute but she seriously needs to learn to become a better person. Regardless of what the situation was, she was still in the wrong for all the bad decisions she made.

I’m not sure if it’s a mango tv thing but the ending felt very rushed and the last part felt a bit pointless too, I know that there are two epilogues but still. Speaking of the epilogues, the proposal was so horrible. If i was proposed in this manner I would be so angry. How could one use a life and death matter to propose??? Is he in his right mind??? Though it’s probably because they want to show how she started being his bodyguard and ended the show with her being his bodyguard. Still, what a horrible way of presentation.

Overall, it is a fluff drama with not much story plot. And to be honest, towards the end, there wasn’t any fluff to it too soooo…

plain romance story

Watched it for shen yue, and her acting skill, along with jasper’s, is pretty decent. Hmm, she seem to be in romance drama a lot so I don’t think there’s anything special about this drama for her too. (but she cute <3)

Story is pretty bland for me, and towards the end, the way his grandfather suddenly thought to finally encourage him after years of being mean and stubborn just feels very sudden and rushed. Although yes, he was suffering so much at that point in time due to the medication and his OCD.

Hmm the love story between the leads towards the end felt a little relatable, where she’s torn between the man she loves and the truth behind her mother’s accident. Could really understand her dilemma, your head says no but your heart says yes.

Anyway, overall, it’s just a fluff drama which I would only recommend if you have nothing to watch anymore.

super cliché yet cute

This drama has all the cliché scenes and plots that all "rich boy poor woman" dramas had. All the plot that you thought of, such as scenes where the ML knows exactly when and where the FL would be in danger and saving her every single time. Being able to catch her before she falls, her falling and ended up kissing him etc.

Though predictable and cliché, they are pretty cute together. I would prefer if they lessen the number of accidental kisses, or forced kisses and the random small kisses though. All these felt very superficial and fake.

Personally, I thought that the second couple didn't really add any value to the drama. They make me want to skip their scenes.

I really like Xiao Ya as a friend though, she is constantly so supportive, despite causing so many troubles throughout. She's so cute and always there for Xi Xi.

Overall, feel very neutral about the main characters, I don't dislike them nor do I like them a lot. I would recommend it if you like cliché dramas which are light and sweet.

slow paced drama with a rather annoying couple

The story is too slow, and the main couple is pretty annoying. Initially I found Wu You's character cool since she is someone who can is strong. Yet, she turns out to be rude, and insensitive. She bickers for the sake of bickering, even if she's at fault.

On the other hand, I liked Xi Ya. There is a reason for his cold demeanour, and he is such a precious human being in general. He went through such hard times, but he is actually still nice to people in general.

I actually enjoyed Lu Man and Lin Qing's love story instead. He was sincere with her, despite feeling insecure and unconfident for the first part of their relationship. I could understand where these feelings came from.

As for Su Fei, I thought Xing Yi was cute as he fell for her and the way their relationship progressed was cute. Am glad his sincerity reached her.

The story which I disliked the most was Jia Yi's. Her husband was annoying, for not respecting her. She was also inconsiderate with him. Their ending was the best for them I guess.

Overall, I didn't enjoy this show and skipped several scenes to finish it. It is a show that I wouldn't rewatch nor recommend.

disappointing plot with decent casts

With all the hype about this show, the good ratings, and the number of people who introduced me to this show, I had a pretty high expectations toward it. Yet, I ended up disliking it from episode 1 to 9, and only find it bearable from episode 10 onwards. The male lead character is so freaking annoying. He has 0 character development throughout the show, tbh. He keeps hiding things from her and not know how to properly communicate.

As for nuan nuan, the only story she gets is that she joins a new job, meets horrible people, and gets sabotaged for it, and the cycle repeats itself. Though I do like her character to a certain extent, as she stands up for herself when she is bullied. I understand how she becomes softer when it comes to han che since that’s what love does to people.

Eleanor’s acting is really good though, she portrayed nuan nuan well, bubbly, loud, strong and kind. On the other hand, i can’t really rate Leon Leong’s acting as his character is too stoney, and not much inner conflicts which can be shown through acting.

The OST is good though, Liu Yuning’s voice is so good, as always!

Overall, it’s not my type of show despite the cute scenes toward the end.

a little ridiculous yet addictive

Firstly, I really dislike the ML’s character, urgh. Like he’s so full of lies, I’m surprised the girl even forgives him and still trust him afterwards. I do understand that he felt guilty when Xiao Ba appears and he thinks that she was the one from his childhood. Still, the way he left Meng Hui alone to care for the girl is annoying. He also has been such a lying jerk throughout the entire series.

Next, I kind of dislike the plot where they marry when Meng Hui isn’t fully herself. Did he not consider the fact that she might regret it when she returns to herself?

That said, I liked the leads as a couple. They look good together. I think that they look more natural and comfortable considering this is their second time working together.

I also like the other two couples and their office colleagues as they’re all super loving and encouraging. Although I would like to see more of Sui An and Wei Lei, which the show didn’t really focus on. ):

Overall, it was a decent drama if you ignore all the plot holes and watch for the casts.

a cute yet unexpectedly dark plot

Firstly, the plot was nicely paced. It was an interesting start, where Nianqin is someone with disability and a rough past. This resulted him to become a cold person to protect himself from pain. On the other hand, Wuyan is someone who is relatively positive, though a little immature at times.

To be honest, I didn’t like how the writer used two lives to act as a catalyst (though it’s just a drama) yet the pain from not being able to see the last moment of your loved ones hurt so much. I wasn’t sure she would forgive him, yet she did.

I would like to see the situation in both their perspectives. Personally, I feel that they’re both at fault, and you couldn’t just put all the blame on Nianqin, though he may have a bigger part to play. She kind of added on to Nianqin’s insecurity by hiding things from her, and he shouldn’t have denied and doubted her when she told him about her dad.

Also, I didn’t really like the way he chased her again, it felt as if he was forcing her to stay (even though I know she still had feelings for him). It was just the way they portrayed the scenes that made me feel uncomfortable.

Towards the end, they kind of touched and go (hospital scene) the healing part about her best friend, which I couldn’t really understand. I guess it was because he has done enough throughout to show her that he is her present??? However, the plot was still decent overall, and I like all the cute moments.

As for the acting, I’m looking forward to their project projects! They both did so well in this drama, clearly portraying the personalities of the characters. So glad the drama did well, and hope that people will continue to look forward to their future projects too.

As for the music, I love the OSTs!!! Yet I feel that the person who adds the sound effects shouldn’t continue working in that position because that ONE creepy sound effect throughout the ENTIRE drama is annoying af.

Overall, I enjoy the drama well. I would rewatch the cute scenes such as pouty and whiny Nianqin.

As much as I like this drama, there’s so many things that I dislike too.

Firstly, I would like to say that I would have preferred it to be a 36 episodes drama, where they’ll have enough episodes to explore the potential in the plot (also, I’ll then be able to see xiao bao more hahaha).

Honestly, the way it touches on trauma & psychology entices me. It started out interesting, where we first see how xiao bao is unable to speak due to a childhood trauma. How the two leads’ fate entangles, meeting due to a misunderstanding and she’s just the right doctor for xiao bao, as he remembers her from all those years before.

Tbh, it’s kind of a slow burn, where the leads took 17-18 episodes to finally realise their feelings, it was so jot worth the wait where they get tgt for 2 episodes being all sweet and then break up again ==

Also, do they think that after giving us 4 episodes of heartbreak scenes, giving us 2 episodes of a few kisses and LDR can give us comfort???? After waiting for so long, all we get is an LDR & a wedding scene :’) lol Also!!! The way they patched back afterwards is just like???? Is this a joke to you??? LOL. If she’s going to like succumb to it so easily, why bother drag it out for 4 episodes.

And!!! they built up the plot of the accident so much just to gloss it over with a “pop”. Letting us know what actually happened with a very calm conversation??? wth i’m so disappointed… They could have done so much more about it, sigh.

And for the other two couples, ruo wei has been pushing wen gu away for so long just for them to end up tgt all of a sudden :’) and shi xiong and lin wei too :’) like tbh i liked them tgt, but like it all just happened so suddenly. There isn’t any development at all considering the fact that he just gave up on yiyue. How does one move on so fast considering the fact the he has been liking her for such a long time???

Xiao bao, Miles Wei & Hu Yixuan are the reasons that I’m able to continue watching this. They’re such a cute family, and I like how Yiyue is so patient and loving with xiao bao despite his trauma. It’s also cute how Xiao Bao loves yiyue and is constantly teaching is dumbdumb father about showing love and making his mum happy hahaha.

Miles Wei & Hu Yixuan’s acting are so good tbh, the way they portray the characters are good. Though I would really like to see more of their story.

The OST played throughout the drama really expresses the emotions of the scenes well, and the songs are very nice.

I would definitely rewatch Xiao Bao scenes, and the cute scenes between Miles Wei & Hu Yixuan but not for the plot towards the end :’)

rushed ending which made it all bad

it started out really good, and it was pretty cool with all the sci-fi thing considering that his heart is a robotic (?) one, and it was really funny and all!!! but i lost interest around ep 24 onwards, it isn’t dragging but I felt like the built-up wasn’t strong???

they honestly should have played with the fact that she’s kind of the reason to his situation & build that up but it just happened like “okay hi, okay now bye” kind of thing and it gets sooo disappointing

and then I was sooo looking forward to how the bad guys will be taken down & how it would have affected the friendships & how they’ll overcome it tgt etc. but it’s another rushed through scenes

NOT the ending being (a few years later, he’s awake with a healthy heart, the end)

I was so disappointed bc the plot had so much potential but it wasn’t portrayed well at all

your normal friends to lover trope

Honestly, being someone who loves happy ending, it was good to know that it will be one right from the start! No guessing game, though there’s a few misunderstandings along the way, which is understandable. Also, am a sucker for the cold male - warm female type of dynamic, so I do enjoy this show a lot!

Even with the second lead, it was good to watch them go from friends to lovers. Though people may dislike how Guan Chao kind of treated Wu Yi badly, and how Wu Yi is kind of immature throughout the series. But I do like to think that she is just a happy go lucky person, and we only learn when something big happens to us, which happened to her. So she doesn’t irk me as much as what others say hahaha.

Their acting is good, especially since I watched this show for Janice Wu, she’s so good at portraying different characters in different dramas. As for Yu Jian, I saw him in variety shows and that he really is so stoic in real life, but of course his acting is still pretty decent. Hopefully he chooses a good drama to act in, instead of one of a cold personality again so that people can really see his acting skills :)

Overall, it is a really good drama. It’s good to watch when you want something sweet, and want to believe in love.

confusing plot but couple had good chemistry

major spoilers ahead, read at own risk

The couple in this drama has such good chemistry, I could feel their love for each other throughout. The casts did well portraying the characters, and I felt the process of him falling for her. The way he stares at her and constantly looking out for her is so attractive though. Wen Xi’s character is also super cute, love how she’s always so bubbly yet so sensitive towards You Ning too. You could tell she has special feelings for You Ning throughout too. She looks out for him, and understands his trauma.

Their love transcends all time and space, as they fall back in love with each other no matter which timeline they are at. You Ning has also loved her from the first timeline to wherever he time travels to, always trying to save her by changing small things in the past. I think this is the only charm of the drama, their love and chemistry.

The time travel plot interested me initially, yet I felt that it turns out to be flawed and made the show less bearable to watch. The time travel plot makes it very confusing, and difficult for the audience to get into the plot (or maybe it’s only me). For example, whenever the plot is happy, I don’t feel happy because I know that the timeline will change again in the future and it’s not certain. Or another example is where the future changed and Wen Xi cried, but I’m confused as to why she’s crying because I don’t know what happened in the past that caused that? Everything just felt super uncertain and confusing throughout.

Towards the end, the last 4 episodes, which are so tragic btw, are less confusing as the plot is more certain and you know that there aren’t any more major changes to the timeline. I feel that the writer of this drama hates You Ning though. He has to handle all the pain alone from the start of the drama and they even made him suffer on the last episode. Poor him.

Also, for someone who only like to have happy ending for all dramas, I felt that I would have been okay with the ending on the beach. The actual ending felt very out of place and feels extra though I’m sure it’s to make the audience feel better after breaking all their hearts.

Apparently this is on iqiyi sweet on but I don’t think it is fitting to be there. Sure, there are some sweet moments, but there seem to be more sad moments than sweet ones.

The casts’ acting skills are very good, as you could really see the difference as they acted out the different ages. When they cry, it really breaks your heart too despite not knowing the context very well. There are also scenes when you just feel so bad for the characters as someone who knows the story (towards the last part of the drama).

The music is also chosen well as they bring out the different moods of the scenes, which I appreciate a lot.

Overall, I wouldn’t really rewatch this except for the cute scenes. I wouldn’t recommend this too unless you’re okay with the confusing aspects which it comes with. However, I would recommend you to watch it for the casts and the couple’s chemistry.

my first bl drama & it’s amazing

never have I ever liked a drama so much, to the point where I would rewatch them and actually liking ALL casts from a drama

it’s a super amazing show, Zhang Zhe Han & Gong Jun truly bring the characters to live, and let us believe that they’re the characters with their amazing acting

the osts are so amazing too, zhang zhe han not only can act, he can also sing, his voice is sooo good, and the theme song (not sung by him) is constantly stuck in my head

the plot of the entire show is very well paced, though towards the end there were these two episodes where I felt rushed and was a little confused as they brushed off certain things, but other than that the plot were very good

the story behind the drama is pretty deep too, not everyone who looks righteous is good, and not everyone who is known to be evil may be evil
there’s always a story behind someone’s behaviour and never to judge anyone based on their appearance

I love the small family of Zhou Zi Shu (zzs), Wen Ke Xing (wkx) & Zhang Cheng Ling (zcl) & Gu Xiang (gx) & Cao Wei Ning (cwn), they’re all meaningful to one another’s lives
while wkx is zzs’s reason to continue living, zzs is wkx’s light, and path to going back to the living
wkx & zzs are both important fatherly figures to zcl, considering the fact that he has lost his whole family, yet zzs willingly take care of him, despite him being stranger initially ❤️
tbh, zcl is one character that I like a lot, considering how I pity that he has to endure seeing so many deaths in front of him, and losing so many people who are important to him and he has a huge character development he may seem like a kid who cries all the time, and is weak, but he only shows his weakness to the people he are close to, zzs wkx gx etc. and fight the others when being bullied and stayed strong when being tortured so I honestly feel that he is an underrated character which makes me like him even more I guess
gx is a sister to zcl, despite teasing him all the time, she stood up for him & protected him whenever he needed it

next up, it’s gx & cwn, they’re truly a pair that breaks my heart the most. their r/s kind of depicts that of wkx & zzs, where gx & wkx are both trying to find the path back to human world bc of their love for their lovers
I honestly still think that gx & cwn deserves better, and both are too innocent and naive for this cruel world
their love for each other are so strong, that they’re willing to give up their life to be with the other (just like how wkx & zzs do)
thankful for the foreshadowing of them being able to meet each other even in their next life and hopefully in their next life, they’ll have the happy ending they deserve

next, gx & wkx on her last day, wkx asked her to not be spoilt anymore and she asked “did you ever spoil me” in a way that she doesn’t feel it, but he does, or she wouldn’t have been able to stay alive despite teasing him so much, and his love for her was so huge, he went insane when she passed right in front of him
he has always treated her as a daughter/ sister, and they’re not in a master/ servant r/s for him
it’s just sad how she only knew how much she meant to him during her death and how she was unaware that she was the small light he had which helped him stay sane in that horrible place

lastly, wkx zzs, as mentioned before, to zzs, wkx is someone who makes him want to live, when he only thought of dying previously whereas zzs is wkx’s light, where he can put away his dark past and wanting to live his life for himself
I honestly envy their relationship, having trust in each other & zzs’s patience with wkx & willingly fight against the world together
their love is so pure where they also are willing to give up their lives for the other party ❤️
I honestly just love them so much TT

gong jun & zhang zhe han really did a great job portraying the characters, the small details throughout the series made it so much better, they are the characters themselves ❤️ I cannot imagine other actors taking up these characters tbh

anyway overall I really love it, and I’m already rewatching it despite finishing it only recently, & I appreciate it so much more bc I am able to catch the details the second time which makes the drama more lovely ❤️ however, i skipped many parts that wkx & zzs & zcl & gx & cwn aren’t involved :/

Funny + good music, a must watch!!

This variety is so good, where 6 close friends have their own place, and invites their other friends over to hang out, and to sing together. It’s a very chill show, and they are all super funny~ They sing super well, and make the show very interesting.

Their friendship is also very genuine, always by one another’s side regardless. Hence, their interactions doesn’t seem superficial, and is very comfortable to watch. They are always openly showing affection and encouragement to one another, which is very pleasant as people these days rarely show it explicitly.

Though it feels as if they keep reminiscing on the past, I think it is rather common among friends of 16 years, as they are sharing their stories with the audience.

Overall, I feel happier everytime i watch the new episodes, and they take away stress from life. I have truly enjoyed every single episode of this show!!

Intriguing story with excellent acting!

Story
This series started out impactful with the school bullying, the introduction of the counters and the fighting of the evil spirits. All these had me hooked to the series from episode one.

The stories of the counters were all so touching to me, and I loved them so much. Though I still feel that Mo Tak did not deserve what happened to him, I guess it gave him the motivation to fight the evil people. I’m also glad that So Mun managed to see his parents after all.

The trio’s friendship and the counters’ friendships are what I envy the most. To start with the trio, his best friends have been there by his side since he was young. They supported him throughout the entire series, and still trusted him despite him not being able to tell them the truth. Even when Ung Min was in trouble, he did not want So Mun to know, because he did not want the latter to be burdened or to receive the same treatment he did. One thing I learned from So Mun in this friendship, is to have the courage to stand up for what’s right. Although he did not have the ability to fight against Hyeok U and the bullies, he still did to protect his friends. I admire him for that.

As for the counters, initially they were not confident that he could handle their job scope, but they all ended up being one big family. Towards the end, instead of crashing So Mun’s hope, they fought together with him, putting trust in his words.

To be honest, the last 3 episodes of the series doesn’t seam real to me. So Mun suddenly gained so much power, and it felt very unreal. I do understand that it is a fantasy show and fantasy isn’t reality, but the sudden change in strength just puts me off. Also, after not being able to win against the evil spirits for so many episodes, the way they won against the evil spirits in the last episode wasn’t very satisfying.

I love the concept that evil spirits could only get into the body of people with evil mindset. That just shows how scary humans really are. There are people who said that they don’t understand why the Mayor did not have any spirit possessing him even though he killed someone. I think it’s because he only killed one person, and the others were not killed directly by his hands?

Acting
The casting team did such a good job casting all the actors and actresses for this series. From the counters, to the evil spirits, everyone did such a good job. The fact that we really dislike the characters show how well they performed. I couldn’t really let go some characters, especially the one that I thought shouldn’t have left and deserve better.

Overall it was such a good watch and I’m sure I’ll miss the characters now that it’s over. Can’t wait for season 2, and I guess this might be the show I’ll rewatch again some time in the future. :) It’s one of the 2 kdramas I’ve watched in 2020 considering the fact that the other dramas’ genres are not what I like ): Hoping for more kdramas that will attract me with good plots!
