Droppable or Unstoppable

I watched Mandy Wei in Deja Vu and she is much, much better in this drama! An Xi has a ton of personality, yet has her ditzy moments.

Another positive is the support characters. The series developed some stories for them which other dramas sometimes lack. Additionally, the music is probably one of the best if not the best of any Asian drama series I’ve watched so far.

However, I do have mixed feelings about You Qian. His name is hilariously accurate and he is hella cute, but he was too clingy towards An Xi sometimes through the first half of the series. At one point, I was getting soooo tired of his behavior that I was very close to dropping the series (I entirely skipped episode 9 actually…).

Overall though, I think I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a series with deep characters, yet some little funny/quirky moments.

Typical Chinese Drama Annoyances

In a lot of ways, this seems like the stereotypical Chinese drama. Supporting characters asking a lead if they like the other lead constantly, rich, annoying best friend character, one lead “stalking” the other when they should really get the point, et cetera. I will say though that I like Cong Rong, Wen Rang, and the little bit of Qin Chu that I saw because they all have some sense of appealing stubbornness to their characters.

I was excited to see Deng Yu Li in the series, who was fantastic in Somewhere Only We Know. Xing Fei definitely brought some Li Ting Ting/Xue Tong vibes too. It was just a shame that this series had too much of the elements I find irritating in Chinese dramas.

Feel Let Down

The first episode was dramatic and made me really excited for this drama! As I was watching the next few episodes of the series, I felt like the story behind trying to save her mother and her ex-boyfriend from going to prison were well developed. However, Shi Jian's stalking of Ye Jia Cheng and Song Xiao Jing really made the drama irritating, and as a result, I dropped it. In my opinion, production should have found a better way to incorporate Ye Jia Cheng and Song Xiao Jing's story into the drama.
