Why are you reading this review and not watching it?! This is one of my all time favorite dramas. While at times the characters can be a bit frustrating, they do a really good job playing them. The romantic scenes in this drama are very romantic and rememberable (unlike the Korean version...). I could on and on about what I like, but I would spoil it for you. The only thing I can honestly say I didn't like was part of the end, so thank goodness they have a season two! The second season of this drama is also very good and doesn't ruin the first season (unlike Meteor Garden II...).

There are also two versions of this drama, the 30 episode

I originally watched this because of Playful Kiss, hoping to compare the dramas. I am a huge fan of Playful Kiss, but after watching It Started With A Kiss, it surpasses Playful Kiss. First off, the storyline may be close to the same, but ISWAK really goes into depth with the story and the feelings of the characters. ISWAK develops characters and how they handle certain situations, and unlike Playful Kiss' Baek Sung Jo, the audience can really understand the main character's feelings. I would highly recommend watching It Started With A Kiss if you are wanting something that is witty, funny, and romantic, and expect a lot more romance in the sequel. There shouldn't be any disappointment by the time you've seen the whole entire read more

So much better than annoying Korean version - better storyline, better developed characters and incomparably better cast - especially main couple (unlike korean couple, they have great chemistry). I laughed like crazy and also cried - I really enjoyed watching this drama

What is the difference between the 20 ep one and the 30 ep one ? Is the 20 ep one just a cutoff and if u watch the other 20 one ep in the 30 ep series will it be different and continue from that 20 ep? I'm so confused please can someone explain it to me??!??! Either way where can you find 21 through 30?
    • samsoons Mar 8, 2014
I'm not entirely sure since I saw the 20 episodes version (the TV version), but I think the episodes are shorter on the 30 episodes version (the DVD version), that's why it has the additional 10 episodes.

You still don't miss anything if you watch the 20 episodes.

Perseverance is key with this drama. The first season is going to feel like it's dragging (even though it's not) because of the lack of interaction...or... touchy touchiness haha but if you need motivation, just think ISWAK 2 ISWAK 2 ISWAK 2 because all your determination and hard work is going to pay off tenfold. (; (; I've watched this drama (and the second season) three times already so rest assured, it's a good one. ^////^ In fact, just finished watching it (second season) for the third time with a friend of mine. huehuehue

I honestly cannot count how many times I've watched this drama and its sequel since it first came out. Everything is perfect from their acting, to their chemistry, to the characters development etc. It was just a whole lots of fun to watch and it gives you the same feelings whether you watched it for the second, third, fourth time. Joe and Ariel make the characters feel so real! It's amazing. The way it was made, the simplicity of this drama just makes you feel like you're not really watching a bunch of actors acting but real living people falling in love with each other. This drama makes me laugh so much that I would end up with tears in my eyes even after rewatching it many times for the past 8 years. This drama just doesn't get old. If you haven't watched this, you're seriously missing out.

So glad I gave this Taiwanese version a chance because I love it more than PK. Him Hyun Joong was better eye candy but the Kdrama version had no room for character development and I couldn't help but be at a loss when I finished watching it. ISWAK gave me the closure that I needed for this love story.

I really enjoyed this drama, but why was the marriage like this?? I was kind of disappointed when i saw him using a wedding and she with a groom suit...
    • samsoons Dec 29, 2013
That part was clearly them adding the 'taiwanese drama factor' into it. Twdramas are known for their exaggerated and silly scenes, and that was it! Tbh, I wished the wedding itself had been more normal, but I learned to love it :P

If you want to see a 'normal' wedding ceremony between these two characters, then try (if you haven't already) Itazura na kiss - Love in Tokyo :)
    • MarianaG Dec 29, 2013
Well in the end just like you said I also learned to love it that way but part of me still wishes that it was more normal... And yes i already saw itazura na kiss love in tokyo (and I also saw playful kiss that's why i decided to try the taiwanese version ) thanks anyway :)

Viewers, all I can say is stick with it. The romance will seem heavily "one-sided" and sometimes you will feel like kicking the screen, because it seems like Xiang Qin has no self-respect.

But hang on in there. The sequel "They Kiss Again" makes it ALL worth it. So many kisses. Zhi Shu is almost like a completely different person. Yeah, that jerkish side is there but he is more willing to smile, spoon his wife, KISS his wife oh my gawd there's like 1 or more practically every episode, and it's a JOY to watch.

I'm only on ep 5, but rest assured I will come back in the end and write a big review in the TKA page. Look out for it!

okay don't kill me but am I the only one that thinks Ariel has a weird nose? like she's not ugly but I can't find her all that pretty because her nose is constantly staring at me... I may be a little superficial atm
