Although they say this is a spin off from fated to love you it really isn't. Drunken to Love You is hilarious and there are funny moments almost all the time. Sometimes Taiwanese dramas seem to have a lot of melodrama in them, but this one didn't. However, there are some awful characters, occasional bad acting, and cliché moments but overall Fated to Love You is really likeable.

Now Rainie was awesome ! she seemed so very grown up and not like a kid anymore. Her crying scenes were really tear jearkers, and she really conveyed what the character meant. She is a really good actress. Joe Chang was really good as well but he did have a bit of an overacting bug, still you could really connect with him too. Tiffany Hsu was awful. Not only did it seem like the character was written poorly but her acting skills were the pits and she had no chemistry with Tom Price. (Plus she was annnnoying!!) The mother started out evil for like 1 episode but you will come to love her. You will see all kinds of reoccurring characters and if you watch it on Viki your friends will help pick those folks out!

Drunken to Love You has way less drama going on than Fated to Love you. However, with that said it seemed that Rainie cried just as much.lol. If you loved Fated to love you, if you keep in mind that this is a completely different drama you will like this too. I think both dramas had an innumerous amount of flashbacks and it seemed like there were new characters just coming out with no real purpose. Drunken had a lot of nice sub plots going on but none of them were as developed as the sub plots seemed to be in Fated.

This was a good watch it wasn't heavy with the drama, but it was funny and mainly cheery and had a really sweet ending. That you may not even see coming!

p.s loved the soundtrack.

I found Drunken to Love You hilarious as heck and refreshing.

What really worked for this drama was the peppy chemistry between Joseph Chang and Rainie Yang.

Also, side-note: Rainie totally rocked her short hair after having long tresses for years! Some good acting from Rainie : her crying scenes are absolutely wonderful.

Joseph's Song Jie Xiu really won my heart. Because he was not just another self-absorbed pretty-boy (I find Joseph to be more manly in appearance/vibe than most Taiwanese actors) . He was interesting and perceptive. He was actually aware of the feelings of the people around him. He fell in love with Lin Xiao Ru (female lead played by Rainie) FIRST (refreshing!) and pursued her kindly and patiently.

The side characters were also tons of fun. Samantha (Song Jie Xiu's mother), Xiao Ru's pregnant best friend, Jie Xu's assistant ... were all quite funny.
The story lines with the secondary romantic interests were unbelievable and unnecessary and the drama would have been better without it.

Not a perfect drama ... some of the plot faltered in the second half but still good, funny, sweet stuff.

I went into this knowing that DtLY was patterned after Fated to Love You. I mostly enjoyed FtLY and hoped that with fewer episodes, DtLY wouldn't drag on and annoy me in the latter third as much as FtLY did. Sadly, it did.

It was a good story and a halfway believable set-up. Drunken marriages are not exactly unheard-of. The acting by the leads was pretty good overall and they had chemistry. I actually enjoyed the drama up until about episode 13/14. If the drama had stopped there, I would've been much happier. As it was, it kept on and on with obstacle after forced obstacle, some of which were so ridiculously....well, ridiculous that it was obvious the writer/director was simply trying to stretch out the story for more episodes. They were not obstacles necessary to the growth of the OTP's relationship. They were frustratingly annoying. However, that being said, there were a few heart-tugging moments in the last 3 episodes, so maybe it was a complete waste of 3+ hours.

All in all, it was mostly good but I doubt I'll rewatch it.

I saw this show in Dramafever. I'm so in love with Rainie. She's soooo adorable. Joseph's totally hot! I love the chemistry between them. They are so hilarious. Good start and good ending. I love uncomplicated stories. Certain characters can be cut from this without effecting the show (I.e. Alien Huang). What was his character all about? why was he considered a main character? Tiffany's character got a bit annoying too. They could have cut some of her unnecessary scenes.
Oh well. Back to the show. I like the flashbacks to the story. It puts two and two together. the show could have been just the two of them and it would still make a good show. Once you start the show you'll get hooked. Would I watch it again? definitely!
I'm currently watching You Are My Sister (just for Hawick Lau) and My Sunshine (love Tiffany Tang). Come back and find my reviews!

This review may contain spoilers
..... After I read the synopsis, I was like, ''hmmm...... this brings back Fated To Love You''..... Well I guess it really does. Either ways, I like both dramas. FTLY was my first TW-drama ever so.... I kind of hold it in high esteem.

Back to the review, I started this on a whim...... but later on, I was glued to my Laptop!!! Okay...... Song Jie Xiu played by Joseph Chang is quite amazing. Song Jie Xiu is a clean freak, he grew up thinking he wasn't really loved and all (all these feelings of unhappiness and what have you), but now he's all grown up, one of the most amazing Architects...... He has a lousy temper, but kind and affectionate (He's SOOO romantic); and has/had a girlfriend of 7 years, who is a model/actress and quite ambitious.

On the other hand we have Lin Xiao Ru played by Rainie Yang. In my point of view, I think she did a good job also. Lin Xiao Ru was left by her parents, umm mother specifically, and since then she has been moving back and forth from the orphanage to a foster home and back to the orphanage (streets) and now she's all beautiful, has a nice job, and she thought everything was in place. She has this extremely bubbly image, this image of hers earned her the nickname Wild Mountain Boar. She's really too nice!!!! And can go lengths to help those she loves. Between, I thought like poles don't attract ~confused~

Well, both Song Jie Xiu and Lin Xiao Ru were in for a surprise, they met briefly and that meeting was ONE of a KIND, then they met again.... It looked as if they were ''fated'' for each other. Their worlds sort of turned upside down, which was really wonderful. Due to some personal issues they had to stay married for 3 months. Well...... I don't know about you, but if it was me, I will NOT partake in such outrageous scheme. As we all know, everything and anything can happen in dramaland.

They stayed married, got to know MORE and MORE about each other, they became source of strength and happiness to each other...... to shorten the whole story they fell in love with other, but at the same time, they wanted to keep to the stupid contract. Song Jie Xiu's ex-gf wouldn't also leave the two be. Things got messy and somewhat complicated, but in the long run, through persistence,
natural and supernatural occurrences everything sorted itself out.

I learnt a lot form this drama......
1. Don't ever partake in marriage contracts, it never does any of the parties good.
2. Don't become a slave to your past; it enslaves one, which causes fear and makes one make the stupidest decisions.
3. Taking what belongs to others..... isn't a good idea
4. You need to know if you the other person is/ is still in love with you, if it's not your own wild imagination..... Also, clarify if you are in the friend zone or not.... that should be the first step.
5. Don't mistake someone's kindness for stupidity or foolishness..... When the person notices (which happens, after a huge blow has been dealt), I don't think there's anything that can be done about it.
6. You need to make a decision.... Love or Ambition/career??

This drama is a amazing and the other cast didn't fall short of expectation, it's filled with COMEDY and the ROMANCE kills it all. There are some awesome lines also (You will find some of them below ). At first you might not like Joseph Chang, but after some eps..... You would fall in love with him. The drama is also well-paced, plus the story and plots were WONDERFULLY interwoven!!!...... I love the OSTs also....The end was one hella end!!!!!!

Awesome lines: Between I won't mention who and to whom.....

Between, if you think lines contain spoilers, then don't bother going further.

- “He has no right to take your future and bury it together with the dead love.”
- “If there’s no trust, there’s no friendship.”
- “If you want to continue avoiding me, that is your choice. I won’t intervene. So, you don’t have the right to intervene with my choices, and that is I’ve decide to love you, and let you fall in love with me.”

Lets stop here lol!!!

The story was really cute, but there was WAY too much filler. I fast forwarded at least 10 minutes of every episode and it still made sense. I always get a bit frustrated when the "other" girl tries to take back the buy, but it all ends well don't worry. The last scene is quite funny and akward -I would be so embarassed and ticked if my parents did that to me on my honeymoon.

The acting was really good by all parties and it wasn't too over the top. There were lots of silly moments, but they all worked.

The music from what I remember is fine, and I would rewatch this drama again in the future although I will be fast-forwarding through part of every episode like the first time or skipping a selected few episodes.

I watched fated to love you first and I must admit it, this was WAYYYYY better than Fated to Love you. Please don't kill me and let me explain why.

For starters the story was better. It did not drag out too long and the subplots were actually interesting. Only the certain scenes felt unnecessary, but as a whole all episodes played a role in telling the story. Also this one is not as melodramatic. Some similarities between the two stories are of course how two people who had significant others meet and fall in love. However the main lead guy is not such a jerk like Ethan plus he falls for the lead girl first.

Their is not one character I can't stand in this drama. It is shocking, but I even like Ai Wei the force in between the two leads. Once again though I wish Kingone and Raine can somehow end up together in at least one drama.

Probably the only problem I had was with the opening song. I just don't like it. Otherwise amazing drama.

I really loved this story. I had issues w/ some of the acting. It got very American daytime tv-esk and felt very fake at times. I loved the comedy. I laughed at so many things. The "Shoe-blood" thing was hillarious. The relationship b/t the 2 leads was better while they were drunk than when sober....LOL! It was a good story but I prolly won't watch it again b/c I have too many other things to watch. Enjoyed it though.

This was really the first Taiwanese drama I've watched, so I'm not sure if this is normal for them. But I did find it to have a very soap opera style to it. Both the camera work and the plot. I felt like the last 10 episodes were just one silly plot twist after another, solely designed to keep the couple apart until the finale. If they had cut it down to 20 episodes, I think it would have been a 9 easily, even with the dumb stuff. I still enjoyed it for the most part.

The main couple was really cute, and I thought they did a great job with their acting. The points deduction came from the supporting characters. Mainly Wang Kingone - who got the soap opera treatment  in every scene he was in: dramatic music and voice, and Tom Price, who seemed like a rookie actor. I thought that Joseph Chang and Rainie Yang did excellent work, though. The best friend, Mei Leng was overacted quite a bit, and totally played for comedic effect.

I did try to skip over the 2:30ish opening sequence as it lasted way longer than needed. So, the episodes are really only about 35 minutes long probably. There are also little stops in the drama that appear as if they must have commercial breaks, something not done in Korean drama. When they return there is a few seconds of replay from where it stopped. There is also a preview/ending of about 3 mintues at the end. So the episodes run about 43 min, but if you skip the opening and closing, you should get through faster.

Probably won't rewatch this, but I enjoyed Chang and Yang enough that I wouldn't be adverse to watching something else with them.

Worth a watch

This series wasn't really related to Fated to Love You in any way since none of the characters or storylines actually overlap. The only similarity is that the main relationships in both were contractual ones. I enjoyed this series a lot actually. There's quite a bit of comedy sprinkled throughout, as well as moments that made me cry. Rainie was superb in this (she really grew as an actress!). Her crying scenes really punched me in the heart. It does have some melodramatic moments but nowhere near the amount of its predecessor -- always a plus in my book! Overall, definitely worth a watch.

A good story destroyed by bad writing and direction

When I started this drama, I was hooked instantly. The first 10 episodes were an absolute blast to watch. I thought I finally found another 9/10 rating worth gem. But....sadly as the episodes went by the quality degraded considerably. While the first half was super fun, the second half became a nightmare to watch. Romance became scarce and main leads chemistry suffered a bit too. Totally lovable characters became horribly flawed. Plot became uninteresting. New sub plots kept on appearing which were out of place altogether. So I will rate this drama accordingly by rating the episode groups themselves.

First 10 episodes (1 - 10): Engaging story, good romance, great chemistry, lovable characters especially FL, sensible decision making, really good character development. Overall easily 9/10

Next 10 episodes (11 - 20): Still interesting story, okay romance, good chemistry, questionable character ethics, questionable character decisions, abysmal character development or maybe a little bit character regression itself. Overall 7/10

Final 10 episodes (21 - 20): Absolute mess of a story, scarce romance, lacking chemistry, boring and badly written characters, idiotic and flawed decision making, total character regression save for the ending. Overall 3/10

And thus the final rating, since we can't just rate this based on the good parts alone, is 9 + 7 + 3 /3 = 6.33 or better rounded off at 6.5/10. To summarize, I would say this was a really good story with major promise but got destroyed by very very bad writing, pacing and direction.

P.S. Would like to commend the OST though, absolutely wonderful.

I really enjoyed this Taiwanese drama. It was funny! It was light! It was cute! I grew to like the main male lead. He really was very funny and natural in these series. Of course Raine was there too, and she played her role well. The story is not boring. If you want to watch something with no stress, that will relax you and make you feel good - this is it! .... some moments made me laugh like a baby :)
