I love this show. Its funny and heartwarming. I usually don't like anything with ghosts even if its a comedybut this show is actually really good it's not just about ghosts. you're invested in every character even the second leads. even though the show is not over it is becoming one of my all time favorites. they're great actors on the show so that makes the show even better.this show is a definite must watch.

Finished it, but not sure why

Using my personal rating system of "loved," "liked," "meh," & "nah," this was a definite “meh”.

Usually, I divide out my reviews into ‘things I liked’ versus ‘things I did not like so much’, but since I really didn’t like much about it (except for a Seo In Guk in his early twenties...) this review will not have a liked section. Which is weird, since I finished it anyway—though with some serious fast forwarding starting at around episode 14/15.

I had several issues with the script/character portrayal. The way FL was portrayed/written, it was as if she’d just started seeing ghosts the day before, not five years ago. Her constant screaming, startling, etc. would have made sense if she’d only been living like that for a few weeks or months, but not for years. Humans adapt, even in high stress environments. The other thing I don’t get is why she didn’t just turn it into a business. Granted, this is my understanding from KDramaland only, but it appears that she could have gone into business as a shaman or medium and made some legit cash instead of becoming a hermit. She had the support of her sister who believed her, so why didn’t they just go into business? And why did the dude who supposedly was able to help her out not show up until five years later!? That was never really well explained. Because the female lead was such a hot mess all the time, it was difficult for me to believe that ML fell for her. Their chemistry/connection felt forced.

And why was Auntie so against the FL? The dude was clearly not interested in any of the women she constantly threw at him, so what was the tragedy when he finally picked someone for himself!? So much of the drama felt forced/cliché in a lazy-writing way. Once the mystery about the ML’s past got solved, then the drama really fell apart. I hate it when a lead disappears without a trace for a couple of years and then comes back to find the other lead still pining. And their separation really didn’t make sense. The whole thing just didn’t make a whole lot of sense—hence my “meh” rating.

A cute Hong sisters affair with the always entertaining Gong Hyo Jin as the female lead.

In Short: Great chemistry between the leads, and a cute way to lead them together. Do wish Chunderella was the main conflict though, not eeeeevil twins.

Pros: Cute lead romance with a great excuse for skinship.

Cons: The ghost of the week premise was hit and miss. Got really sick of the eeeeeevil twins.

My first thought when reading the plot line, was, "A girl who gained the ability of seeing ghosts after an accident? could this be anymore predictably boring?"

However, the story actually turned out to be great. Very well written. Very well thought of. I loved the fact that the main characters were different and new, greedy guy and gloomy girl? it just seems weird. but it becomes really impressive after watching the drama.

I am very weirdly in love with the male lead character. I think he was the drama's heart. I wouldn't want to change anything about him. The female lead though, confused the hell out of me, at first I understood her, but the she was just, I don't know, she wasn't very developed. I didn't seem to warm up to her. Which is why I think i'm giving this drama less than it deserves. And there is another reason, but saying it would be a spoiler.

Anyway, the acting was great. I was convinced. So Ji Sub was, as always, awesome. He completely resembled his character. Face expressions, hand moves, the way he speaks, his reactions, everything was just brilliantly acted. Everything.
The supporting roles did a decent job.

The chemistry was over flowing. great, great, great, chemistry.

The music deserves a 10. More, even. It was fantastic. I kept waiting for the meaningful scenes just because I wanted the music to play.

This drama basically has everything. I recommend this to anyone. It doesn't happen everyday to see a drama with horror, comedy, drama, romance, and it even has a plot twist.

The first thing you need to know about this drama is that the two leads are amazing together. They're both very talented and own their roles. I should note that this was my first time seeing both So Ji Sub and Gong Hyo Jin act, so I'm not able to compare this to their other performances, but I can say that I loved every moment they were on screen. From two to three episodes in you're already hooked, just waiting for them to arrive on screen.

I didn't go into this story expecting much, especially with the premise that it had. It seemed interesting, sure, but ultimately overdone. The writers took a different take on it than what I expected, though, and the whole thing was enjoyable from start to finish... except for a few episodes towards the end. The story's climax feels like it happens earlier on, the rest just added on to make it reach 17 episodes. Story elements, and even characters, are added last minute to add more conflict to the story where it wasn't needed before, and I found even Gong Shil to be growing a bit unlikeable. But the last episode brought it back, and it felt more like it did at the start of the story, so I can't say that the ending was a waste. Still, I can't say it fully makes up for the unnecessary twists that happened before it, so this is where I had problems with the story.

It isn't just our two leads who are great in this drama, either. Every character is played very well by some talented actors. I especially enjoyed Choi Jung Woo as Joong Won's secretary. But despite the actors themselves being great, the characters never really gripped me the way I would have liked. I didn't hate any of them, not by any means, but I had to roll my eyes at some of their actions or would fine myself impatiently waiting for our leads to come back on screen. So while everything was well acted, I wasn't very invested in any of them. But Joo Joong Won's incredibly likeable character coupled with the quirky and loveable Gong Shil more than made up for it.

Now, is it rewatchable? Most definitely. The moment I finished it I already wanted to go back and rewatch. Except I would maybe skip the last few episodes, as they just draw out the story.

Shoddy Romance

If I were to review this drama by the year 2015 when this was released this is one of the best. But then if you were to watch this drama you might not get amazed as many dramas have already evolved surpassing this.

The romance was cliche with the male lead sending away the female lead. I enjoyed the OST but I got tired listening to it as they keep playing the two songs! The thing that made me come thru 'till the end was the very confusing mystery part. I also felt that the actor's voice was monotonous and I didn't saw many emotions in him or maybe it's just the character. But no offense as he is one of the most famous actors.

so I kept getting this in my recommendations since I loved goblin and planned to watch hotel del luna. So I decided why not? I thought it would be better to watch this before hotel del luna (and I was right to by the way).
Though I was familiar with both lead actors, I haven't watched anything with them. But since I knew that they are well known for their acting skills, I knew that I couldn't rest assured on that department. It was the plot I was concerned about. I should mention that I've never watched a hong sisters drama before but I've heard things about their plotlines and I was a little reluctant to watch this.
It's not bad. It's pretty good actually. It's not goblin level (far from it) but its good fun to watch. In the beginning it was good. I liked the characters, I liked the chemistry, the different ghosts they encountered. They were all interesting and kept me hooked. But in the latter half, the ghosts they encountered became boring. When the story needed to pick up and when the main characters were at the the brink of something huge, it seemed like the writers decided that the ghost stories could take a back seat. I mean who on earth wants to watch an hour long episode on how the rival mall's dead chairman liked dressing up as a female? It was a chore to get through that episode.
Also I hate the way the Hee Joo arc was closed. I was anticipating so much more. It was so anti climatic the way ended. Twins? Seriously? The fact that they made a girl the master mind behind this big kidnapping was just ridiculous. I thought that Hee Joo would be the malicious ghost I was hoping to see in this drama. But there was no such malicious ghost. They were all so tame and nice it was downright ridiculous. Had they shown hee joo to be the one who conspired with some people to carry out the kidnapping and became a vengeful ghost, it would have been a lot more interesting to watch. Why did hee joo's twin come back anyway? It was never made clear. I was so sure we'd have a case of ghost possession where someone with the same abilities as our female lead would be used by hee joo to take her revenge. But the entire arc was so tame and boring to watch.
Secondly the whole I need to leave but its not because of you its for me okay maybe its a little about you but I need to leave was irritating. When you have a show with a lead who can see ghosts, why not have a ghost be the one to tell her how she was a spirit during the time she was in the hospital? Bringing in a random character and not even elaborating on them simply for the sake of a separation arc was annoying to watch. And why on earth were tae gong shil and joong won acting like her getting on that plane meant she wouldn't come back ever? The entire thing could have been resolved but simple dialogue in which gong shil would tell joong won to wait for her as she went and hot answers and he'd say its okay even if she doesn't find answers and to come back when she has some closure. There. Simple. I know that ultimately that is what they said but it took them sooooo long to get to that when they could have simply trusted one another and communicated.
So while the first half was a solid 8.5, the second half made this a bit of a chore.

I watched this drama coming off of watching Oh My Venus, which was where I first watched So Ji Sub and decided that he is probably my new Kdrama crush. I wanted to see more! Enter Master's Sun, which I had heard was amazing, but hadn't previously appealed to me.

While it sounds like it may be a horror type, it is actually very funny. They did the ghost scenes very well! Each episode involves a ghost that Tae Gong Sil has to help finish their business so they can cross over. The ghosts start out as very scary to Tae Gong Sil, but as she takes the time to find out what they need to be at peace, they take on their normal human look. I will say that one of the episodes was very hard to watch and I wept quite a bit over it. There were lots of laughs and lots of tears. There's also a bit of a mystery with Joo Joong Won's past and the ghost of a girl that haunts him.

While I watched this because I wanted to see more of So Ji Sub, I also discovered Gong Hyo Jin and am now her fan also. These 2 actors had amazing chemistry together, and one of the biggest drawbacks for me on this drama is that I would have loved to see more of their romance than we got. (The other was a plot/character addition toward the end that I thought was unnecessary and interrupted the flow, but not enough to ruin the drama.) Seo In Guk was just a bonus for me as Kang Woo because he's another favorite actor of mine. The secondary romance that he is involved in makes a cute story here also.

I enjoyed the music very much, and Touch Love is a song I listened to over and over.

This story was solid and very re-watchable. In fact, as I watched this the first time around, I binged on it and could not quit hitting the "next episode" button when I should have been sleeping! It really was THAT good! My dh has re-watched it several times as well, and now I hooked my mom in with this show. This is easily one of my favorite dramas to date.

If you're looking for a supernatural-light-horror-comedy-romance, then look no further. Master's Sun does a great job to live to that premise.

When I read the story synopsis, I was like "hmmm, that can either go really good or really bad" and thankfully, it went really good. There are some great stories to explore, most ghosts' stories are well thought-out and executed (the effects and make up is a big plus + too) and there is also the kidnapping story that keeps the suspense on going.

The characters aren't one dimensional, and they evolve on their own right too, as does their relationship;
a big factor to help on that is that the main couple has great chemistry (GHJ seems to be having that trait with any of her co-stars). The secondary couples were also very entertaining to watch. (Kang Woo&Little Sun were the best!)

The OST was very good- the main romantic theme stands out obviously but there are some nice light hearted songs in there too. The music score is nice, too.

My only complaints are, that I felt like the last few episodes dragged out a bit more than they should, there wasn't a real resolve with one of the ghosts' storylines that kinda bugged me a bit, there were some conversations about a "dilemma" that went back and forth and back and forth and yeah, it felt a bit eeeer at some moments.

Other than this though, it was a good series and I enjoyed watching it very much; Definitely worth my time!

Could have been amazing

This drama was a fun combination of thriller/ghost horror and poor gal gets saved by rich, mean guy. Gong Hyo Jin did a fantastic job bringing Tae Gong Shil's insecurities and fears to life while standing up for herself when people treated her poorly. I enjoyed the way in which she was learning to live with ghosts and strive make her life better.

However (and I know this will be an unpopular opinion), I felt So Ji Sub's performance lacked depth and dimension. He seemed to be the same person throughout the drama, never getting to actually show his transformation.

There is a major flaw in this drama that happens near the end. The characters act completely out of the norm of what you have seen throughout the show. This threw me off. Furthermore, the dramatic revelation and story about Joong Won's deceased lover was told in a sloppy and confusing way, and I barely cared about it. Those flaws are things I cannot overlook. The time used around these parts could have been executed differently in a way that grew the relationship between the main leads, but it didn't seem to do that.
