I  am not a professional writer nor good at constructing paragraphs, but somehow I took a liking to write an article for one of my favourite websites, MyDramaList. It’s been years since I joined this community, and it really helps me to monitor and organized my watch list.

Besides reading and exchanging comments, it’s really fun to read those articles that were contributed by different writers out there.

At first, I just wanted to share my admiration for my favourite actors so I message one of the admins, Skye-N-Rain, three years ago and ask how I can submit an article and he kindly replied to me. Looking back, it’s been a wonderful journey for me.

SO WHY WRITING?

My mind never gets tired of giving thoughts, questions and ideas whenever I finish dramas or find a wonderful gem of new actors from Dramaland. Writing an article can give you a deep insight of the topic you are writing as well as a great opportunity to show it to many readers, and maybe get their reaction and have a deep conversation about it.

When my work makes my mind go crazy, and I need a distraction, I start to write an article. There are times, even on Friday nights, when instead of taking a rest or just relax, I will grab my laptop, sit on the floor and start to create an article for many hours. Sometimes I was doing it for 4-5 hours straight (editing and designing may take you many hours or days) while drinking coffee or listening to good music. Even at the office, I started creating drafts when I thought of a new topic/concept before it slipped away from my mind. Since there’s no deadline, it was more relaxing, and my mind could wander through what I would write without any worries.

As I stated above, I’m not good at writing, let alone have experience in writing articles. Also, my grammar isn’t that great. So I had doubts if it was okay to submit. But you don’t have to worry! The editing team is kind and tirelessly helped me to polish it. They are kind enough to message me and give me suggestions and clarifications about my article.

I remember when my first article was published, and I'd never thought it would be accepted because it was quite simple. So I was ecstatic when I saw it and so hype to write a new one! It gave me the confidence to write more, and sometimes it’s quite addicting. I started to give some thoughts on the design or think of a deep topic that others may see as interesting. As I checked all my articles again, somehow, I’ve quite improved in my opinion. :)

I will use this opportunity to pass love and admiration for the MDL team! They provide us with this wonderful website that gives a lot of great information and shares our feelings towards our favourite dramas.

And to all the aspiring writers out there: do not hesitate to try it. Let your imagination go wild and let your writing instinct take over!
