Can someone explain episode 8 of the show?

Essentially, the twist is that the father planned the kidnapping game along with his daughter and planned to frame the game dev...but why? How does that protect the daughter? And how did his other daughter die? Is it from his old sworn brother? I feel like I completely missed all the main reveals of the episode.
