can everyone in your friendlist access private lists

are the private lists on here visible to everyone that’s on your friendlist or just friends that have a link to the list? when i click on someone’s profile from my friendlist i can only only view the public lists, but with link to the lists i’m able to view them despite them being private , but they don’t show up when i’m logged out. i was under the impression that private lists i create are only visible to me
