Dramas Where Main Leads Had No Official or Long Breakup

This is one of the low-angst dramas on the list. Celebrity FL and ML ; no break up; love the FL’s older brother here. The title Double Love is due to the main leads becoming a couple in their online gaming and also in their real life.  The ML and FL are cute and even their little misunderstanding is nothing more than about the FL getting mad at the ML for hiding from her his identity on their on-line gaming personas. It got resolved fairly quickly after the ML coaxed her and he also brought out  their secret relationship  in public by making their  official status known  to everyone during a celebrity award ceremony. Happy ending, they got married and had two kids in the end.

Ex-Special Forces soldier FL, Scientist/CEO ML. Main couple officially got together by the end of episode 12. I like how the FL is strong and can fight well. She always protects and saves the ML. The conflict started in episode 19, the FL thought the ML’s company was responsible for something that happened during the FL and her father’s last military rescue mission which almost cost her her life and in which her father lost one arm. But the ML promised before he left that he would investigate to get the truth for her. His company was framed and he would find the evidence to give her and her father an explanation. FL followed the ML to protect and back him up after she did some thinking for a few days. They cleared up everything fairly quickly by episode 20 and had no more couple misunderstanding afterwards.

SPOILER ALERT:

Rich FL; SWAT officer ML. They already broke up years ago but got back together in the earlier episodes after meeting each other again. They never had any break up any more after they renewed their relationship together, and since this show has 30 episodes, you could get to enjoy the couple’s romantic moments until the last episode.
Episode 6= ML asked FL to wait while he untangles himself from his family issues first(ML’s abusive and douchebag father owes a debt and got the ML engaged to another girl without his knowledge or consent).
Episode 7= ML met with his family, the girl’s family along with her, and he flat out refused the engagement and walked away  (the girl was his classmate who liked him a lot).
Episode 8= ML went to the FL and told her that he resolved his issues already. This is the point where their relationship truly started again.
Episode 11= Main couple took a trip together, FL’s best friend warned her not to get pregnant during this trip but it fell on deaf ears obviously.
Episode 19= FL told ML she might be pregnant
Episode 20= Main leads went to the hospital to officially confirm her pregnancy and they registered their marriage in this episode.
Episode 27= Main couple’s baby was born.
Episode 29= Main couple held their wedding ceremony
Episode 30 (Final Episode)= mainly flashbacks of the main couple’s past younger selves. Happy ending.

Rich FL; Smart ML; They liked each other since they were young but misunderstandings and certain circumstances surrounding the ML’s family made them part ways. They met again as adults and still liked each other but although they still had their share of misunderstandings, they were able to eventually resolve them. They worked together in the company that the FL’s grandfather owned (no one in the company knows that she is the granddaughter of the Chairman of Donghe Group, her identity was kept hidden). I like the grandpa’s character, by the way. Once this couple got together officially in episode 20, they stayed together til the end and never broke up.  They had a minor tiff in episode 30 because the FL had some problems in their company which happened when the ML was no longer there. He moved to a job that is more suited to his background as a navigation engineer, his true calling. The FL supported him to move back to that career, so when he wanted to leave that job to go back to her side to help her with the company crisis she refused and threatened to break up with him if insisted on sacrificing his career for her. He still tried to help as much as he could in the background. He even went to her grandfather who got hospitalized and ended up bonding with him.  That part was not angsty and did not drag on. Their chemistry together was really good.  It’s a happy ending, of course.

Thai Drama. ML was a playboy before he married the FL and has a son out of wedlock but he was in love already with the FL when he married her whereas she agreed to marry him to save the palace left to her by her late father. ML never looked at another woman again after he married the FL (their marriage also happened during episode 4). Lakorns have different formulas they follow compared to Cdramas or Kdramas, so their drama characters tend to be molded differently. Thai dramas also have a lot of slap and kiss, and several MLs also end up forcing the FLs and most of the time the FLs end up pregnant almost only after one time. If you are very sensitive about these things, you might want to check first to make sure the drama does not have that plot before watching.

In episode 1, the main couple met again after they broke up several years ago during their University days. Episode 16 was when the ML admits to his best friend he’s in love again with FL. Ep 18= ML starting to chase FL again.  Ep 22= misunderstandings that caused their break up years ago were cleared, ML asked FL to get back with him again. They reconciled and became a couple again soon after. No love triangle, I also like the FL’s 2 other best friends’s stories. Very good drama overall. Happy ending and the main couple were the best partners both in their professional and personal lives, a true power couple til the end.

There was a conflict between the main couple but it did not end in divorce or a long separation. This is per one of our viewers comments: “They weren’t broken up. FL asked for a divorce in episode 25 but they reconciled in 27 without processing the divorce.  And just a heads up, I was also informed some viewers found this angsty, so if you can’t take that kind of conflict, it’s probably better to just skip episode 25 and resume at episode 27. 

Royal couple; love triangle with aggressive SML; the main leads got married in the earlier episodes but only became a true couple around episode 18. 

Second chance love, main couple already broke up years ago and the story started when they met again. No divorce or separation after the couple got married.

10 episodes, approximately 10-15 mins each episode; Friends to Lovers; Writer FL; Song Composer ML; Main couple got together officially only on the last episode.

The main lead actors met while doing this drama in 2016 and got married in real life in 2021.  This is a no-break-up drama but it is such a slow burning one. I hope they have better chemistry in real life. 

Firefighter ML; Doctor FL; the story started where the leads already broke up years ago, became an official couple again in Episode 25, and did not break up anymore. Happy ending.

I was told there is a very brief break up in the last episode, around 10 minutes only.

The main couple are so cute, they became an official couple in episode 17. There’s plenty of romance and lovey dovey scenes after they started dating. This is a stress-free, low angst and feel-good drama. Both the FL and ML’s  parents are what everybody would ideally dream to have as in-laws. 

I still plan to watch this one as this was recommended by someone.  Although the leads did not have any break up after they got officially together by the end of episode 12, I was told that they had a rather painful separation before they became a couple. 

Thai drama; doctor ML; rich man/poor woman; beauty queen FL. No break up or any separation. Happy ending. This is part of the Juthathep Gentlemen series but each story can stand alone on their own. But it’s still nice to see the characters all appear and interact with each other in each drama. If I recall, there are 5 brothers with noble blood, 3 married princesses, the other one married a beautiful actress, and this one in this drama married a beauty queen. All with happy ending.

This drama fits the no-break up list, however, the focus during more than the first half of the show was the ML and his best friend falling in love with this girl and she became the ML’s girlfriend while the FL was in love with him the whole time and suffered in silence. The ML and his girlfriend broke up in Episode 20. From Episode 21, the FL took care of the ML while he recovered from his serious injuries after his stint in the military. The ML started falling in love with her and they became an official couple in episode 25. The ML’s ex-girlfriend got together with his best friend but was still in love with the ML. In episode 27, she returned and tried to get him back but he had moved on and really loved the FL so he turned her down and never looked back.  The ML and FL were happy together, and through the years they were together, the ML, from being poor, became a rich businessman, and the FL became a doctor. They finally got married in episode 34, and there was a time skip of several more years because they had a daughter who was entering her teens by then. The main couple supported and loved each other through thick and thin, they had built a great life and had a happy family together. The ML’s ex-girlfriend and best friend were the opposite, childless, and eventually divorced. The story started in the 1970’s and ended somewhere in the 2020’s, I think.

ML’s occupation = relic organizer; FL’s occupation = Obstetrician/Gynecologist; ML deals with end of life while FL deals with the beginning of life. There’s hardly any angst, no love triangle, no break up.  But I did get some feedbacks  from others who dislike the SML. He’s not harmful or threatening, though, probably just somewhat third-wheeling in a wierd way. What a wonderful, heartfelt drama. Main leads got together in episode 4. The ML in this drama is deaf, but he is such a lovely soul and a lovable character. The FL is a beauty. Chemistry and romance  are natural and solid. This drama is also filled with life lessons. This is one drama worth watching.

Dress designer FL, rich ML, annoying SFL, SML, and ML’s mother. Episode 11, FL went to Paris to further her studies in couture design. Episode 15, ML confessed to FL when he was in Paris before he went back to China, turning them into an official couple around the same episode where they started a long-distance relationship at first. Not perfect, by any means, could get annoying sometimes, but it was better from episode 36.

Friends to lovers; ML and FL grew up together and were inseparable since childhood. They became an official couple in the last episode. I think this still fits the list, it is a nice drama and even when the main leads didn’t get together officially till the last episode their interactions from beginning to end are nice to watch and they’re always together. ML realized he loves the FL first, so he’s been very possessive, protective, and he sticks to her closely all the time.

Married main leads; Episode 1 started with the  FL  going through labor and childbirth. It has some funny spot-on moments, I couldn’t stop laughing at some parts, the main couple are such total newbies with their first baby. ML (FL’s husband) was such a sweetheart, he makes a great husband and father. This slice of life drama after dating and marriage resonates as part and parcel of what a realistic happy ever after entails as a married couple begins a new chapter in their lives as parents.

They were raised together like siblings even though they have different parents but the ML already had non-brotherly feelings for the FL earlier since high school. Circumstances regarding family matters separated them (ML had to stay in Singapore to take care of his invalid, neurotic mother and eventually became a dentist), but the ML went back after several years passed and the main couple got together somewhere in episode 21 or 22. They never broke up or separated since they became an official couple. This is a great family drama and it’s worth watching.

CEO ML/ possessive ML, Chef FL, Older man/Younger woman. They became a couple in episode 10, and got engaged in episode 19.  In episode 23, it will look like the main couple is on the verge of a break up but the ML is actually just setting up his brother for a fall to punish him for daring to use the FL to hurt him, because she is the ML’s only weakness and the ML’s brother was trying to destroy him.  My only gripe is that the ML kept the FL in the dark, too. I guess maybe to make it convincing to his brother since he knows the FL was the type to be transparent and has no deceptive bone in her body. This is a cute, romantic drama with a charming, sophisticated older ML and an equally charming, lovely young thing for a FL. Their chemistry is really good, with a lot of good, romantic moments throughout the show. No real break up, happy ending.

Somebody shared this one for the no-break up list, but there is 1 episode of separation because the ML thought he was dying and made the FL lose her memories. When he ended up not dying after all, he chased after the FL to get her back. 

Someone recommended this drama for this list.  No official break up, just a brief, not- so-serious separation while waiting for an approval from the ML’s mother.

Wow, first meeting between the main leads was refreshingly normal and mature.  For once, there was no bickering or rudeness involved.  Main couple became official in episode 9. Cons: I personally don’t like the air-conditioner type of ML who is flirty and nice to other women. After watching this drama with this kind of ML, I now have a hankering for dramas with a cold, tsundere ML who will show his tender, loving side to only one woman. Pros: once the main leads got together, the former playboy ML became totally committed to the FL and they had a fairly mature, healthy relationship. No wedding scene, but there was a proposal in the end.

FL’s work involves protecting ancient museum pieces, tracing lost, priceless cultural items, and retrieving them from illegal collectors of ancient, priceless art work or from robbers. ML is an appraiser of those said items and an art restoration expert, so that’s how their paths crossed. They met in Japan while she was on a mission to retrieve a stolen item and there were a lot of funny parts in this show. They didn’t get together officially until almost the last episode but they already developed feelings for each other before they got together, so their courtship was ongoing even before they became an official couple. No real love triangle, ML had a girlfriend at first but he was not serious about her and the GF was more like an extra without a lot of screen time and eventually just dropped off the show without any significant drama. There is the FL’s boss who liked her but he was not the pushy sort and just stepped aside eventually without any fuss either. This is an overall easy show to watch, and though the ending for me is just so-so, still, it was not bad overall.

Human ML, wine demon FL. Although the main couple were already getting closer to each other as the story progressed, I think they truly became a couple in episode 16, after the ML rescued the FL from the demon hunter. By then he already knew that she wasn’t human but still wanted to be with her. The only unfortunate thing is that there is a SML who used his demon power to try to separate the ML from the FL, which isn’t playing fair when the ML is only human and has no powers. In episode 20, BIG SPOILER ALERT…. just skip this episode if you don’t want to see the SML kiss the FL while he was supposedly “disguised” as the ML. In the following episode, the FL became a noble idiot and erased the ML’s memories to protect him. But since this is a fantasy that defies any logic, lo and behold….the ML’s memories came back just in time for him to crash the FL and SML’s wedding and ML was the one who ended up kissing the bride instead. The main couple encountered a lot of problems and were almost separated by death a couple of times, but they overcame everything in the end. This has a happy ending and there was no time skip from the time the main leads met until the end.

This is a slowburn romance, main couple got together around episode 30,  but there’s no break up.
