Dramas Where Main Leads Had No Official or Long Breakup

PLEASE NOTE THAT SOME OF MY COMMENTS ON THE DRAMA LIST MAY CONTAIN SOME SPOILERS, SO PLEASE DO NOT PROCEED TO READ THE DESCRIPTIONS BELOW  IF YOU DON’T LIKE SPOILERS……I always always appreciate it when I find a drama where the couple get together and never parted ways no matter what tough challenges they face in their life and relationship.  The plot formula for these dramas are usually not complete without any angst of sorts, even without the break up. Some angsty parts are more tolerable, but it depends really on how much the viewers can tolerate. The title is “Dramas Where Main Leads Had No Official Breakup”. Hence, this list was created as such. Couples fight and have conflicts/misunderstandings and the way they resolve those issues are what makes their relationship work in the long run. Those who cannot take watching some of the conflicts that arise from the mains’ relationships probably need to look under the “Low Angst Dramas” list. You will find couples with misunderstandings on this list but that does not mean they broke up officially just because of that. They worked to resolve their issues and became stronger, and got their happy ending in the end.

Contributed by someone as a no-break-up drama, but it does have its share of conflicts.   FL wanted to break up at one point but ML refused, so the main couple were together until the end. Although the ML confessed earlier in episode 14, they became more more official somewhere in episode 18, I think. Their chemistry is sizzling especially in episode 25…ML sure can kiss.  For a short, minidrama, it’s still a good watch.

  • My Lovely Liar

    202. My Lovely Liar

    Korean Drama - 2023, 16 episodes

A FL who has the power to hear lies; a ML who was the suspect for his previous girlfriend’s murder. Main couple got together officially in episode 9. The plot  was good, the main couple’s relationship was solid and mature. No break up, happy ending!

  • Touching You

    203. Touching You

    Korean Drama - 2016, 12 episodes

The ML can see the future events that will happen to the person he touches and he saw the FL is going to die in his vision. FL has a boyfriend, but the ML still fell for her anyway and tried to protect her. This is a bite-sized drama, 15 minutes each episode and although the romance between the main couple has not been really developed well, but at least you will be able to tell that their feelings are mutual, even though they did not become a couple until the last episode. It’s still a happy ending and is watchable if you don’t have anything better lined up for watching.

  • You from the Future

    204. You from the Future

    Chinese Drama - 2023, 24 episodes

Someone shared this one for the no-break up list. I will just update the description in the future.

  • The Most Beautiful You in the World

    205. The Most Beautiful You in the World

  • When My Love Blooms

    Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes

This is a poignant, forbidden romance between the main couple…they were lovers separated by circumstances years ago and when they met again the FL is divorced from her own husband while the ML is married to another woman, albeit unhappily. They also each have a child from their respective marriages. But it’s established in episode 4 when they kissed that their feelings for each other never changed despite being aware that their love is now considered by others as forbidden. They were just in love with each throughout the drama, they were each other’s emotional support in difficult times, and the ML is always seeking her company and can’t stay away from the FL for long.  He did not deny his love for the FL nor did she deny her own love for him. They did not let go of each other despite the pressures or threats from their spouses, not even when the society perceived their love in a negative light, nor when their relationship was exposed as a scandal on the news. The ML always followed his heart where the FL was concerned, and he eventually made the decision to divorce his wife. He was then able to ask the FL to marry him afterwards. The main couple ended up together in the end.

  • Hello, I'm at Your Service

    207. Hello, I'm at Your Service

    Chinese Drama - 2023, 24 episodes

Another drama recommended kindly by someone for this list. Main couple got together in episode 14. There were some angsty parts in episode 22,  but nothing terribly painful and it was resolved by episode 23. No long or official break-up.

  • Behind Your Touch

    208. Behind Your Touch

    Korean Drama - 2023, 16 episodes

There’s hardly enough romance for the leads to even break up. It was just implied in the last few minutes of the episode that they will likely end up together. But I heard it’s a good show if you’re not really looking for romance in a drama.

  • Parallel World

    209. Parallel World

    Chinese Drama - 2023, 38 episodes

PLEASE NOTE THAT SOME OF MY COMMENTS ON THE DRAMA LIST MAY CONTAIN SOME SPOILERS, SO PLEASE DO NOT PROCEED TO READ THE DESCRIPTIONS BELOW  IF YOU DON’T LIKE SPOILERS……
What I liked: The main couple’s chemistry had a sizzle, which is how it should be in a show with romance included in the plot. I also liked that the ending is happy for the main leads.

What I Don’t Like: The separation. Although it’s not a painful one, it’s still a shame that for several episodes, you can’t see more of them being together and facing the villains together, instead of just leaving most of it to the FL.

ML and FL got together around episode 18, separated from episode 33, reunited in the last episode (episode 38). The main couple did not break up, the separation was a necessity they could not avoid, the ML was dying and the FL wants to save him, and she needed to leave him in order to do that. But it was still a really nice show, packed with enough action, adventure, and a good story that will keep you entertained throughout. And I’m glad it doesn’t have an open or cliffhanger ending.

  • Wrong Carriage, Right Groom

    Chinese Drama - 2023, 24 episodes

Another no-break up gem, and I actually enjoyed watching this drama, which is a remake. There are 2 lovely couples here ; there was a mix up in their sedans during their wedding day so they ended up with the wrong grooms. Based on the main plot,  the main leads are the third young master and his bride, whereas the secondary couple are the general and his bride. The general fell in love with his bride at first sight; the young master from a very wealthy family also fell in love fairly quickly with his own bride and the two couples got together officially after the both grooms confessed their love for their brides in episode 8.
***Conflict in Episode 12: The general received an imperial edict that granted him marriage to a princess. On the other hand, the young master‘s childhood female friend arrived and stayed while being incited by the villain to go after the ML in the bid to break apart the ML and FL. The general has a smart, strategic wife so she and her husband planned to make the emperor take back his edict. As for the main couple, they caught up to the villain’s plan and started putting up their own show to foil the villain’s plans. I love how these two couples are all on one page because they communicate with each other and are confident in their love for each other.  Another thing I like, the SFLs (childhood friend and princess) were actually nice characters in the long run. A very happy ending for both couples.

  • My Lovely Wife

    211. My Lovely Wife

    Chinese Drama - 2023, 22 episodes

    Spoiler Alert:

This is a short drama, probably around 12 mins more or less per episode and the misunderstanding started around episode 18 (hint: pseudo-siblings trope), but it got resolved around the last episode.  The main couple did not have a true official break up while their issue was being resolved but they were both experiencing the pain and conflict at that time.

  • What's Wrong with My Princess

    212. What's Wrong with My Princess

    Chinese Drama - 2023, 32 episodes

Short drama but the story is really good. It hooked me in from the first episode to the end. No break up, solid married couple with a strong FL.

  • Lucky's First Love

    213. Lucky's First Love

    Chinese Drama - 2019, 24 episodes

There are some parts that you might find a bit annoying if you don’t like love rivals or push and pull relationships. Main couple kissed in episodes 13 and 17 but did not get together until around episode 18. No break up, ended with the main and secondary couples getting married.

  • Watashi no Oyome-kun

    214. Watashi no Oyome-kun

    Japanese Drama - 2023, 11 episodes

They got together in episode 6, around episode 10 the FL asked to break up because she wanted the ML to focus on his own career goals and dreams instead, but the main couple managed to resolve their issues fairly quickly. So there is no long separation and time jumps.

  • To the Moon and Back

    215. To the Moon and Back

    Thai Drama - 2023, 21 episodes

  • Twinkling Watermelon

    216. Twinkling Watermelon

    Korean Drama - 2023, 16 episodes

  • Strong Girl Namsoon

    217. Strong Girl Namsoon

    Korean Drama - 2023, 16 episodes

  • Story of Kunning Palace

    218. Story of Kunning Palace

    Chinese Drama - 2023, 38 episodes

    SPOILER ALERT!
The FL was a scheming, manipulative, power-hungry empress in her first life who used and stepped on a lot of people to get to her position but unfortunately it ended with her death. Then she woke up with her memories from her first life intact, taking her back from when she was 18 again and have not entered the palace yet.  Even if the main couple did not become official until episode 36,  I still found it was worth watching and I hardly skipped it from beginning to end.

Yan Lin= FL’s childhood friend from a noble family. He was in love with her in both lives. She let him down cruelly in their first life but helped him in their second life.
Zhang Zhe= I think the FL loved him in her own way during her first life but used him cruelly as well. He was an honest, upright minister who selflessly sacrificed his principles and his life for her without asking for anything in return. He was the one she traded her life for in exchange for his own during her first life.
Xie Wei= he was the imperial junior preceptor and her teacher during both lifetimes. In their first life, he was an antagonist, her nemesis, yet you could see the complexities of his feelings for her. The actor’s micro expressions were very powerful and impressive. In their next life, he is still an anti-hero character, rather ruthless, cold, aggressive, crazy, and the FL wanted to avoid him like the plague because she was scared of him after knowing what he was capable of from her first life. He loved her but his way was domineering, he was jealous, possessive, and not the type who would let go easily and selflessly, but the type who would go all out to keep her. Even the way he confessed his feelings was pretty forceful and his intensity would actually be quite scary in real life.

For me, this drama was worth watching and I loved the happy ending, complete with the main couple’s wedding, their family life, and their twins.

  • Perfect Marriage Revenge

    219. Perfect Marriage Revenge

    Korean Drama - 2023, 12 episodes

This drama was adapted from a webcomic. There was a very brief separation in episode 11 but no divorce/ break up and everything was resolved in the same episode.  There are so many villains as well but they all got their karma. The ending was great. I personally like this drama, and the ML is very nice, he was very devoted and loved the FL unconditionally.

  • Love Is Panacea

    220. Love Is Panacea

    Chinese Drama - 2023, 34 episodes

    SPOILER ALERT

He will likely lose her in the future due to her illness, but they were together all through the end of the drama and they will be together ‘till death separates them.  At least they showed a happy ending instead of her dying and leaving him alone. And there is always advancements in the medical field, so I’m sure he will do his best to prolong her life should there be no cure still.

  • Flourish in Time

    221. Flourish in Time

    Chinese Drama - 2021, 24 episodes

This is a pure youth drama, and the main leads did not have to kiss or hug to show their feelings for each other. You just know they care for each other and love each other throughout the drama even without the confession to establish that they are an official couple already.  In the last episode they talked about growing old and becoming toothless together, so you know that it is as good as a declaration of intent that they will be together for the rest of their life and build their own family in the future. The ML is the same actor as the ML in ”The Story of Kunning Palace” and “Maiden Holmes”.

  • I May Love You

    222. I May Love You

    Chinese Drama - 2023, 24 episodes

I checked out some reviews, it looks like the main leads got together somewhere around episode 19.

  • Love Me, Love My Voice

    223. Love Me, Love My Voice

    Chinese Drama - 2023, 33 episodes

This is one of the best, rare dramas out there with no break up, great characters, fluffy, 0 toxicity. It’s worth watching, you won’t want to miss this one.

  • Got a Crush on You

    224. Got a Crush on You

    Chinese Drama - 2023, 26 episodes

There is no official break up but the main couple had a long distance relationship near the end of the drama when the FL went abroad to further her studies, which is not really a bad thing.  Based on my personal taste in romance dramas though, I would probably not rewatch this one based on how they wrote the FL’s character. I would suggest checking out some comments and reviews before watching this to see whether you might find this your cup of tea or not.

  • Love Destiny Season 2

    225. Love Destiny Season 2

    Thai Drama - 2023, 26 episodes

I enjoyed watching the main leads in Love Destiny Part 1 (the parents’ story, played by the same actor and actress in Love Destiny Part 2). This was also on the list of NBU (No Break Up) dramas. Part 2 was also recommended as another NBU drama.

  • Miss Mystery

    226. Miss Mystery

    Chinese Drama - 2023, 24 episodes

Somebody who saw this drama have made the following comment below.
“The ML thought the FL left, but she made it seem that way to protect him, and it was for a few minutes then she turned back up close to the end of the episode. Each episode is about 10-14 minutes long. They've been together from the first episode, but fully official from episode 10. The romance is more on the steamy side”.

  • A Good Day to Be a Dog

    227. A Good Day to Be a Dog

    Korean Drama - 2023, 14 episodes

    SPOILER ALERT!

This was adapted from a popular webtoon comic with the same title. The FL is under a curse wherein she turns into a dog if she kisses someone. She kissed the ML while drunk and turned into a dog. She needed to kiss the ML again while in dog form to lift her curse, but the ML has to do it while awake and willingly. Unfortunately, he is deathly afraid of dogs. But the curse got lifted eventually and the main couple got together in episode 9. They did not break up officially, but the antagonist of the drama tampered with the FL’s memories for revenge. This happened in episode 12. The ML’s memories remained intact but unfortunately, the FL’s memories were gone. However, the ML never gave up on the FL. For those who do not want to see the angst here, you might want to skip this part because the ML struggled in episode 12. But fortunately, she got her memories back in episode 13. Happy ending and the ML actor gets the best kisser award here (check out their closet scene lol).

  • The Matchmakers

    228. The Matchmakers

    Korean Drama - 2023, 16 episodes

There is no official break up but they separated briefly in the last episode when they both thought the other died. They reunited again after around a month and had their happy ending.

  • Derailment

    229. Derailment

    Chinese Drama - 2023, 30 episodes

This description is based on the mixed comments I’ve read because I haven’t personally watched this show yet:

There is no break up or separation, slow burn romance and main couple got officially together in episode 24, no frustrating or annoying love triangle, some parts got draggy, some said ML is a red flag especially in episode 7 (something about some manhandling scenes) but some mentioned he is a most devoted, loving ML in later episodes. Happy ending.

  • I Know I Love You

    230. I Know I Love You

    Chinese Drama - 2023, 24 episodes

I’ve gathered different comments since I haven’t seen this show yet. This has a similar vibe to the kdrama One Spring Night although they said this is not the actual remake. FL was in a long term relationship but broke up with her boyfriend who still pestered her afterwards. ML is divorced but not hung up on his ex-wife, who tried to get him back but failed. Main couple got together sometime in episode 13, but the  more intimate sweet moments started sometime around episode 18 as they kept growing closer to each other. There are conflicts and misunderstandings in some parts, so it a fair warning that this is not going to be a non-toxic, fluffy drama but it’s still meets the criteria for no official break up or long separation with a happy ending.

  • My Boss

    231. My Boss

    Chinese Drama - 2024, 36 episodes

Main couple started dating in episode 23, there was some misunderstanding in episode 34, but it was not really a painful one and they were back together in episode 35.

  • Our Interpreter

    232. Our Interpreter

    Chinese Drama - 2024, 36 episodes

ML and FL broke up years before and got back together in episode 19. Marriage proposal was in episode 30. Happy ending.

  • My Special Girl

    233. My Special Girl

    Chinese Drama - 2024, 24 episodes

Main couple got together in episode 15. No break up, happy ending, although rushed and rather abrupt.

  • Love Endures

    234. Love Endures

    Chinese Drama - 2024, 32 episodes

Main couple became official in episode 19. No break up, happy ending.

  • Amidst a Snowstorm of Love

    235. Amidst a Snowstorm of Love

    Chinese Drama - 2024, 30 episodes

ML was instantly attracted to the FL, early confession in episode 6 and got together in episode 9.

  • Thousands of Years of Love

    236. Thousands of Years of Love

    Chinese Drama - 2024, 22 episodes

This is a special mention because this one is worth watching. I just have to add this because for those who love romance in their dramas, this one is oozing with it. The chemistry between the main leads is really good, the kisses and their intimate scenes are on fire. It has short episodes and the only separation was when the ML lead died in the last episode, but he came back again so it has  a happy ending.

  • Passionate Love

    237. Passionate Love

    Chinese Drama - 2023, 24 episodes

     SPOILER ALERT:
Main couple’s chemistry was on fire, but because the ML was initially seeking revenge for something the FL did not do, their interactions were mostly akin to watching a couple do a passionate love/hate tango dance.  Try watching “El Tango De Roxanne - Moulin Rouge” in you tube because that sums up this main couple’s relationship. Misunderstandings were resolved only somewhere near the last few episodes but the ML has been filled with anger and desire for the FL the whole time and was always jealous and possessive. Once the ML realized the FL‘s father did not kill his family, he was immediately regretful and tried to make up for his mistakes. Happy ending after finding the true culprits, and resolving the issue of the FL’s engagement to the ML’s older brother,  a family-arranged engagement which the ML had a hard time accepting. This is a period drama with short episodes, and they looked good in their costumes, too. Strangely enough, they agreed to get married somewhere  in episode 21 and had no break up as a couple. They never had any separation during the whole drama either.

  • Love at Night

    238. Love at Night

    Chinese Drama - 2021, 30 episodes

No official break up, but just a heads up, there are a few misunderstandings and an ex-girlfriend who came back trying to rekindle an old flame.  Oh, and an annoying ex-fiance as well who kept trying to get back with the FL.

  • Sweet Trap

    239. Sweet Trap

    Chinese Drama - 2024, 24 episodes

It took the main couple 20 episodes to get together. No break up after that.

  • Ghost Doctor

    240. Ghost Doctor

    Korean Drama - 2022, 16 episodes

  • Itazura na Kiss: Love in Tokyo Season 2

    241. Itazura na Kiss: Love in Tokyo Season 2

    Japanese Drama - 2014, 16 episodes

I appreciate this comment shared by drama_lover119 :“Itazura na Kiss: Love in Tokyo Season 2 can be put into this list. The main leads got married in the last episode of Season 1. Season 2 is all about their married life and career. There were some ups and downs in their relationship, some small fight as well, but no breakup (Or I should say no divorce)”.  Thanks, drama_lover119!

  • Yong An Dream

    242. Yong An Dream

    Chinese Drama - 2024, 24 episodes

    Feedback from drama_lover119 :
“MLs got together around 15 episodes. Their relationship was very healthy without any misunderstanding and they trusted each other so much. No annoying love triangle as well. The plot was good, only downside is the amnesia part in the last episode without which the drama would be rated higher.” Thanks for your comment, much appreciated!
