Refreshing with top tier actors! Watch this now!

Luo Yunxi is God tier in every costume drama he is in! He is the perfect Tantai Jin! He is pulling off the bullied, pitiful, and helpless role of beginning Tantai Jin who also had something to hide. He's pulling off the fierce and dangerous Devil God Tantai Jin! He's also pulling off showing vulnerable Tantai Jin and OMG the part where he's enjoying a snowball fight was so effing adorable!

Bai Lu as Susu is perfect! She's not helpless from the start! While in the immortal realm she was ready to fight and the moment she got to the mortal realm, she was ready to throw down. It's so refreshing having a strong female lead in a xianxia!

The chemistry is out of this world! The way they exchange glances or touch each other is wonderful!

The OST is also wonderful! I feel like the drama just isn't using one song over and over!

I know people are upset with the ending, but I thought it was perfect and put control back in Tantai Jin's hands. For the first time in his miserable life, he is at peace with what he could control. It's a beautiful message that sometimes fighting for what's right doesn't wrap up everything with a bow.

Take a shot everytime FL says she's a grown up

First, this drama suffered with too many episodes. If you're going to make a drama with no side stories, second and third leads to create conflict so the main couple can grow stronger, etc. Then you have to cut the episodes. It becomes extremely boring to watch half of a drama of nothing but mindless fluff. This would have been better with 14-16 episodes like most K-dramas. 25 was too much. You Are My Glory also suffered from this. Too much fluff and not real story telling.

Anyway, this drama is about a 14 year old crushing on her older brother's roommate. Nothing original really. We've all been there. The thing I didn't like about this whole drama was that it was FL personality trait at some point.

If you also hate the naive childish female to mature woman trope, you'll really hate it here because she never got to the mature part. Everyone said as soon as she got to university, she would mature, but it never happened. ZLS really put the baby uwu talking on thick in this drama. If you are around real life teenagers, you know they do not act like this.

Then there is the repeated phrase "I'm not a kid anymore." or "I'm an adult now." I don't know if she was trying to convince ML or herself. But for a supposed adult, she didn't understand simple stuff like him having a real grown up job and that having to come first instead of a date.

At one point, something breaks in the game. Not just any game. It's the most popular game in China in this drama. Anyway, something goes wrong and he has to stay at the office and work on it because you know, that's his job. Instead of understanding this like an adult, she pouts and gets all sad and questions if he likes her. Not only that, her roommates also jump on that train instead of saying "You know, he's a grown man with a job and actual responsibilities. Calm down and have a snack."

I also didn't like miss "I'm an adult" playing games after he confessed. Young women of the world, do not try this in real life. It backfires every single time. You don't need to test men of their love like a soap opera.

The most realistic thing in the drama was the parent's concern and brother's reaction to finding out they were together. Even that was solved quickly.

All in all, it's just another teen love story with a male lead written by a woman for women. Turn off your mind to watch this if you're older than 20.

So sweet that my teeth are rotting!

I watch a lot of BL, but this one... This one right here is so freaking wholesome! Very few dramas (BL, GL or straight) can pull off emotions without being physical, but this is one of them. There are no kissing scenes, but you can feel the love that they have for each other.

I think the message of you don't need magic powers to read someone's mind to get their attention. Adachi just needed to be himself and Kurosawa was ready to accept it all. I re-watch this a lot just to watch Kurosawa smile. It's so dang adorable!

A sweet gem

The first thing I will say is that this drama does not have pitiful female characters with uwu baby voices.

Our female lead starts off young, but she never has that childish voice. Her life is hard and she has stuff to do. Even the side female characters aren't terribly immature. It's so refreshing to watch a drama where the females aren't infantized.

Second, Bai Jing Ting as the male lead was perfect casting. His playful rich Young Master and serious court official facial expressions were perfect.

The plot/story in the first half had my heart pounding. You never knew who was going to be caught in the chaos. I really felt afraid for the characters.

The chemistry between the two leads was amazing. Even though they only share one one screen kiss, it was a beautiful scene. And you know what? I found myself not even missing kissing scenes. The way they looked at each other, hugged, touched, and spoke to one another was enough. It was such a treat to watch their marriage go from basically a business transmission to a legit marriage.

The side characters weren't too annoying. I was interested in all of their stories.

The plot in the second half turned it from a budding romance to a full fledge palace/fight for the throne drama. I think it was a smooth transmission, but I wish they focused more on the couple falling in love than who gets to sit on the throne.

The villain made sense to me at first, but the he went off the rails. I kinda felt bad for him and then again, dude... It's not and never will be that serious!

I'm giving it a solid 8. The ending was happy and didn't leave us guessing. Great drama!
