It's an okay fantasy drama but lacks oomf factor

This drama mainly revolves around finding the missing body parts of the ml, which is a dragon. I've watched another drama of the ml, but for some reason I wasn't able to finish it because the story got dragged out at the end. So I was determined to finish this drama no matter how it goes just to give it a chance.

Let's talk about the positive things first. I like the plot and how it teaches the values of forgiveness and moving on. I also like the slow-burn romance in this drama and how the female lead is not your typical annoying weak character. We love strong women. There are actually a couple of scenes where she saves the male lead. It has also a hint of comedy so it's more like a feel-good drama because there is not that much angst in this one compared to other fantasy dramas. Contrary to popular opinion, I quite like the CGI on this drama. It's not that flashy compared to high-budget fantasy dramas but that's how I like it since it's better for it to be simple than it being too much.

Now we go to the negative things I have for this drama. There are a few scenes where I get so frustrated because most of the conflicts in the story are due to poor communication. They always directly go to fighting instead of talking it out first. The plot also in the 2nd half got so dragged out. They kill someone, and then he's alive, and then he's killed again, and then he's alive once more. Pick a struggle hahaha. The chemistry between the leads is also a bit lackluster for me. But it got improved in the later part of the drama.

Another thing, I always feel so skeptical when I start a chinese fantasy drama because it's either you get a bad ending, a sad ending, and an unsatisfying ending. I only knew of a few dramas that have a satisfying ending. Unfortunately for this drama, it has a very unsatisfying ending for me. I don't know how and why it's always the same thing. Although this drama has a happy ending, the happy bit was squeezed at the last 10 min of the drama. There are unnecessary scenes that could have been replaced with happy parts and proper closure for the characters. It's getting repetitive and I need a drama where they break this kind of stereotype.

Overall, I'll give it an 8.5/10. It's an okay drama if you have nothing else to watch at the moment.

A well-done romance drama with age gap

Personally, I am not fond of these types of plot where there's a big age gap between the leads. However, I decided to give this one a shot because I've heard good things about this drama, and also the actors are some of my favorite chinese actors. And I'm glad I gave this one a go because the story was really written carefully and still preserves that sweet innocence of love.

I love Zhao Lu Si and Chen Zhe Yuan's acting and chemistry. They are just so good and so natural in bringing their characters to life. No wonder their works in the industry are so popular because they are just that good at acting. I just have one tiny tiny issue with the casting though, and it's the child actress for the female lead. I think she's too young for a 14-year old. If they decided to cast someone as young as her, they should've also casted another actor to play the younger version of the male lead. Other than that, the rest of the casts are perfect.

The portrayal of the family of the female lead is so lovely. They are so good with gentle parenting. I think the parents should be set as a standard for any parents, especially in an asian household. The brother-sister dynamic is also hilarious. I love watching their scenes. They always give me a good laugh. Also, it's too bad we didn't get to see the brother having a love life haha that would have been the cherry on top.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with this drama and also sad when it ended. I've given this a 9.5/10 just for the tiny issue with the casting as I've previously mentioned. But this is definitely a must-watch drama this year 2023!

One of the best fantasy chinese drama!

With so many fantasy chinese dramas to watch nowadays, it is expected that the plot of these dramas tends to have similarities and thus end up repetitive. However, starry love managed to stand out from the rest. It's no wonder that this drama is currently loved by many despite not having what you considered "traffic actors". I am very happy for the cast because they deserved the recognition that they're getting right now.

This is actually the first time that I equally love the main couple and the secondary couple. Because in other dramas, I tend to skip a lot of scenes of other couples and was just interested in the main couple. However, this drama made me love the second couple as much as I love the main couple. I also like how the story doesn't follow the usual tropes of chinese dramas that annoyed me. The story revolves around the sisters, and I thought at first there will come a point where there will be betrayals happening because that's how the usual tropes go. But this drama portrays the definition of true sisterhood. They love and care for each other and would sacrifice their own happiness for the other. Their husbands also are the standard because they communicate so well with each other and are willing to compromise for the sake of their wives. Speaking of the male lead, I love how he is so clingy like a puppy to the female lead. Instead of hurting his partner to face his responsibilities, he would rather have her by his side so they could face it together. As a married couple should! Future cdramas should take notes.

The OSTs are also perfect!!! The only thing I'm sad about is the ending that is why I've given a 9.5 to the story. I wish instead of twirling flowers, they showed the sisters in their reincarnated human form. That would have made it the perfect ending for me. If they want to make it a happy ending, they should commit to it till the end. But overall, I would still give it a 10/10!!!

One of the Best Historical Drama!

This drama is definitely deserving of its high ratings.

It's a mix of everything. It's about love, revenge, family, and friendship. One good thing about this drama is that it broke the stereotype of having evil and incompetent emperor and empress that most cdrama I've watched portray. Moreover, there is no jealousy between the empress and the concubine, which I'm very fascinated by. This is definitely a first for that.

The male leads are portrayed very well by the cast and their acting is superb! I've now watched a couple of cdramas by Zhao Lu Si, and I can understand why they're mostly hits! She portrays her characters so well. So excited to see more projects from her. Leo Wu is also a very good actor. And very befitting of his role in this drama because of his manliness. Truly worthy of being a general! The dynamic of the main leads as a couple is also soooo cuuuute! The general is only soft for the female lead. She only has eyes for her from the start and is always there for her to protect her.

I wished that there was a scene of their wedding at the end though. But nonetheless, it was a happy ending so I had to give this drama a perfect 10!

This drama is like a breath of fresh air and a shot of espresso

I never would have thought that there would be a youth drama that would be at par with Time and Him is Just Right in terms of sweetness and just one that gives you butterflies in your stomach. I can't help but reminisce my childhood memories of watching this drama. It all has all kinds of cliche scenes and predictable plot in a youth drama but it was done so well that I found myself anticipating for the next episode. This drama healed my soul, really.

Let's talk about the perfect cast for this drama. The male leads are literally so cute together. I found myself dying from secondhand embarrassment at a few scenes at the start, haha, but the comedy was so top tier, I paused the video and just replayed the scenes over and over and laughed out loud. The chemistry between the cast and the romance is so swoon-worthy. I love me some green flag and puppy-like male lead. It was a breath of fresh air that the leads fell for each other at first sight. Usually for youth dramas, one fell for the other first, or both realize that they like each other after a few episodes. But this drama actually portrays perfectly what falling in love at first sight means. The male lead is not the usual cold male lead but just actually a shy one, and from the start he only has eyes for the female lead. The female lead is your bubbly girl but smart too, and has a sense of justice. She was so blatant in showing the male lead that she likes him that the male lead has no choice but to accept her affection haha. The portrayal of friendship and family problems surrounding the other characters was also done so well that I found myself attached to them.

Overall, I love love love this drama. And every time I finish a good drama, I feel so empty inside huhuh hopefully they keep it up in producing these amazing youth dramas because it is really one of my favorite genres. It gives me a sense of escape from reality sometimes. SOLID 10/10!!!!

Great chemistry but female lead deserves better...

I have such high hopes for this drama because of the high ratings and good feedback. It was also all over social media. So I went into this drama with high expectations, only to feel disappointed at the end.

The leads have such good chemistry but the character of the male lead was so poorly written that I wonder what the female lead sees in him to the point that she's willing to destroy herself for this man. Fast forward many years later and she is still madly and deeply in love with him even though he treats her like sht. Yes, the male lead is broken but it doesn't cost much for him to treat the female lead a little better. Literally the bare minimum. So many misunderstandings in this drama that I feel could have been resolved easily with proper communication. Also, I really don't get why many people glorify the male lead haha. I wouldn't be able to handle him in reality.

Despite these points, I still managed to finish the drama. Probably because I'm curious about how the revenge plot ends. It has some good points. But for a drama that has so much hype, it was definitely a letdown for me.

Romance Comedy with a bit of angst...

I never thought there would come a day when I would like body-switch scenes in a drama. I usually find those scenes cringe and cheesy, but it was done so well in this drama that I was practically looking forward to such scenes.

The cast carried the comedy part of the drama so well. I guess it's because both of the leads have a fun dynamic and personality in real life. In the heavy sad scenes of the drama, I was amazed by the improvement of Dylan Wang's acting. He really came a long way from his previous drama meteor garden. On the other hand, Yu Shi Xin's acting is a bit lackluster for me when it came to heavy scenes.

Overall, I truly enjoyed this drama. The visuals and the effects are insane. I wish that it didn't deteriorate at the end though. Also, I was hoping the story gets to showcase the new power acquired by the male lead more.

She's the god of chaos they say...

The character of the FL is weak. She's the god of chaos but she's mostly helpless all throughout the show.

So much suffering but so little time devoted for closure. The ending was a bit lacking. The main leads got reunited at the last minute of the episode. What's stopping the directors from giving us an episode of closure and happiness huhu :( The time the main leads are apart is more than the time they were together.

The acting of the main leads is okay. I wish there was more expression though, especially when they cry.

Love love love the chemistry between the leads

Love love love the chemistry between the leads. Compared to other cdramas, their love is more mature. No need for fancy effects on scenes and unecessary slowmos to show chemistry because their banters and interactions are enough. Sweet gestures like looking into each others eyes, small touches, and body movements will make you question if they are still acting. They did so well in portraying a couple in love. The buildup to their romance is realistic compared to other cdramas where the leads already professed their undying love for each other after a few encounters. Also loved the supporting leads and how they've grown so much throughout the series.

The setting of the drama, the costumes, the makeups, the cinematography, and the actors are so prettyyyy. This might be the prettiest drama I watched.

The reason why I gave this show 8.5 is because the plot got dragged on at the last part so I found myself skipping some scenes a few times. There are also so many misunderstandings that took a long time to get resolved. It was a bummer.

One of the best youth drama!

This one easily became one of my favorites. I like all the characters, especially the main leads. The build-up to the romance of the main leads is so good because it was slow-burn and more realistic compared to other youth dramas. This is your typical friends-to-lovers trope but I found myself getting diabetes from their interactions because their chemistry is just SO GOOD. Plusss they are all so good-looking.

If I were to pick a favorite character, it would definitely be Ji Jun Xing (male lead). Because not only is he a very good friend, he also is very loyal to the female lead. She fell first, but he fell harder haha. He definitely set the bar so high when it comes to being the ideal boyfriend because he has the personality of a golden retriever. The female lead is also not your typical dumb girl like most youth dramas portray. Finally, a very strong-willed, kind, and smart female lead. She loves her family so much. I cried for her when she wasn't able to get into college the same day with her friends and has to stay behind to repeat a year. She is so strong because if it were me, I would be so devastated. No wonder the male lead fell for her.

I like how the plot progresses where the setting started in highschool, and then proceeded to college and then workplace setting. It gives you this sense of anticipation to every episode. I gave a 9.5 for the story because there were some inconsistencies in the plot like how the male lead's passion for computer programming wasn't highlighted more. Part of the plot was when he rejected the offer to be in business school to be a computer programmer. But in the end, he ended up starting a business. There were also some misunderstandings on the way, and although I'm a bit annoyed with it, I just brush it off because I would probably react worse if I were in the same position haha. Good thing it didn't drag for too long and we got a very happy and satisfying ending.

These were just minor things to point out if I were to go on the technical side. However, overall this drama is definitely a 10/10!!! I still watch the clips from my favorite scenes because it's hard to find another gem like this, and I'm so sad I've finished watching it.
