I've re-read the novel twice because I do like the story, and am a fan of the author... but this series adaptation totally ruins my imagination of the characters in the novel. The dearly beloved MC in the novel has turned into an annoying overacting shrewd.

All I can say is, the first half of the series is quite entertaining for me... but, after episode 16, how I wish I didn't start watching it. That's to tell how much I can't stand seeing a good novel turns into a disaster series.

I think this series isn't for international audiences like me, because I couldn't understand, nor empathize with the MC.
IMO, she became the main villain in her selfish idiotic acts... but, of course, this is only my personal opinion. I admit that I don't know much about the dating standards in China, nor do I'm familiar with the depth of Chinese culture, thus this is just too much for me.

Don't get me wrong, I have high respect for the Chinese and their grandiose thousands year culture, thus I hope my watch-later Chinese series/movies will reinstate my enjoyment watching C-drama.

Good looking actors/actresses, but bad acting... Looks unnatural & forced interaction among the characters — main & supporting roles.
Bad director, bad script, and unbelievable (working/office) female outfits.
Overall, watch only when you're in total boredom.

I believe the novel itself wouldn't be bad... In fact, it might be a good one; too bad I can't find the English translation.

My review here might be biased... I watch too many Hollywood movies & series, and only this past 6 months started with Cdrama. The comparison is too huge!! I find too many illogical things and behavior watching this series. I dunno whether this was a normal culture & habit in China, however, I can honestly say, so far, this is the first series that really gives me a headache with such so many senseless characters.

"How to hurt other people or yourself" is a more appropriate title

If you're not accustomed with Chinese cultures like me, you wouldn't enjoy watching such an illogical behaviors of the characters in this drama. I honestly dunno whether it is normal to force a guy to accept crushed feelings from several female supporting roles who are shamelessly obsessed with the male lead, bordering to insanity.

Therefore, I truly don't recommend it; do it only when you have nothing else to watch, or just wasting time of your boredom.

I'm well aware that one-sided love happens all the time to all us, but such senseless behaviors in the story of this series is just too much craziness and/or stupidity.

I consider myself a newbie in Cdrama since I started watching them just only a little over 6 months ago when browsing Netflix collection in my region. Got hooked after 2-3 series of the Cdrama section—the traditional costume ones. Then, tried a few modern-day dramas, and even became a paying subscriber to WeTV & iQIYI to watch larger series collections, including this one.

To be brutally honest, most of that modern rom-com Cdrama is a mostly senseless storyline. Watching them is like an insult to my intelligence. I couldn't understand the logical thought and acts of the characters (main & supporting roles).

I have a hard time convincing myself when starting a new series that this one has a good review, but again and again, the MC is just a thoughtless female, borderline to idiotic human species.

Would it be too much to expect normal, honest, real-living characters in Cdrama's modern rom-com?
Or, is it a true portrayal of real dating life in mainland China?
Even though I read review that this is a happy ending series, I just feel sad to imagine such a person exists on this planet.

Can't recommend such a series, unless you throw away your logic when watching this, or you just want to enjoy looking at your idols.
