Sloppy writing toward the end

Mad for Each Other could have been one of the best show this year. But lazy, sloppy script writing ruin the ending to what could have been a great and funny show of 2021.

Both Lee Min-kyung and Noh Hwi-oh are flawed characters who are neighbors and being see by the same psychiatrist.. Min-kyung is in hiding, scared of people, not trusting herself, and is a victim of past abused. Hwi-oh is a cop who is put on leave due to his anger management.

The series started out so funny with great acting and great story build up. I was so happy I thought I've found a gem. Since it's only a 13 episodes, I thought things would quickly finished without any mishap or dragging storyline. Wow. I was wrong. There are characters that don't even need to be included in the series. The cross-dresser and store clerk add nothing to the story. I don't even care about them, yet they're in the story. Why? Those minutes spent on them should be on the two main leads and their healing of eachother.

The series should have been focused on Min-kyung empowered herself. To be able to heal and not be afraid of her ex again. She need to lean to stick up for herself with relying and needing to be rescued. She was learning self-defense from Hwi-oh, yet, it was not put to use in the latter episode. Why? What's the point of showing her learning to kicks, hits, and run when it was not put to use? Hwi-oh was learning about his anger issue and how to manage it, but the first chance he needed to show that he had managed his anger.....he exploded....right in front of her. And the way she reacted when she saw it is beyond me. I understand she is traumatize by previous abuse but all of these should have taken place during the earlier episode....not the last two episodes. They vowed to trust one another but they broke that promised. What a let down.

The last 3 episodes are the worst. I couldn't believe what I was watching. It's like a different drama. Hwi-oh is a cop but he must have been a stupid cop because he's willing let Min-kyung trespassed into someone else property. Plus.....I thought she was afraid of people....yet she constantly take walk at night, and then trespassed into someone property alone at night. What a moron. At this point, I lost interest in both of these two characters. The way she's acting so childish without any coherent thought in her head during the patrolling. The car chased was the worst. It's so out of characters. This scene doesn't need to be included at all. It all could have been solved peacefully without the chase. Then the verbal abused from her to him. Why? Why did she had to go away? At this point, I gave up trying to understand what the show is trying to show me.

Overall, I don't believe they are healed. They're going to hurt one another continuing in their relationship. They don't trust each other. His is quick to anger and she's scare of that anger. All of these are due to lazy writing in the script writer part. What a let down to a good show. It could have end so much better. The potential was there....but...sigh.

Vincenzo

I'm not sure what all the hype was about in this drama. It has high review and was recommended to me from a friend. Still, I don't find it as great as others. Some parts are very exciting and fast pace while other scenes are dragging and shouldn't even be included. I found myself rolling my eyes and groaning in disappointment in certain scenes.

No doubt Vincenzo Cassano is a tough mafia who will get the job done. However, there are many scenes where he's not like a mafia. He's like a clumsy, funny typical rom-com Korean protagonist. He could have been funny and normal without the extreme jumping and falling down, or extreme surprise stupefied facial expression at certain episodes. There are many 'wtf' moments, ie, when a whole flocks of birds came to rescue him. I actually screamed and laughed out loud in disbelief.
And it's not a good laugh either. There are many, many over the top acting from all characters. Many many OOC taking place in the drama. I understand some of the those were for comical relief but it's not working for me. They're too over the top.

I don't like the force romance between the two main leads. They both have a great friendship and working relationship. But I don't see a romance relationship between them. Whenever it appears, it seems force and out of place to me. I also don't find the people in the Geumga Plaza pleasant to watch. It's such a "coincidence" that they all have some kind of fighting background. It's so weird that they all come together and help one another like that without worrying about the consequence. And non of them fear the mafia, Vincenzo, a man who could torture and kill without blinking an eye. The Geumga Plaza residents are silly and I guess they provide a comical aspect to the show.

I still did find this drama watchable. I cried when a few of the characters died. I like and feel sorry for Jang Han-seo. He started out silly and stupid but end up being someone who showed growth and able to redeem himself at the end.

I like the revenge plot. I like the an eye for an eye approach. If you did Vincenzo wrong, he would take revenge and make sure you feel every single pain for it. The cat and mouse game he plays with Jan-Han-seok and Cha-Young was a joy to watch. Overall, it was an okay drama but I would not watch it ago.

Wuxia Romance

Word of Honor is one of the best BL adaptation in 2021. It has conspiracy, betrayal, revenge, acceptive, and ultimately, finding your soulmate. It's a love story of two protagonist who are willing to defend one another and die for each other.

A family of 5.
Zhou Zishu (Zhang Zhehan), retired from being the leader of "The Window of Heaven" by taking extreme measure to gain his freedom for 3 years. He just wanted to be left alone and enjoyed the rest of his remaining life being a wanderer.
Wen Kexing ( Gong Jun), a leader of the Ghost Valley who just want to take revenge for things done wrong to him.
Zhang Chengling (Sun Xilun) is very naive and kind. Eventually became Zhou Zishu's disciple.
Gu Xiang (Zhou Ye) is Wen Kexing's "maid." She fell in love with Cao Weining.
Cao Weining (Ma Wen Yuan) is a very kind young man who fell in love with Gu Xiang.

In another other drama, Zhou Zishu and Wen Kexing would be the villains' or the side characters of the main hero. Chengling would be the hero in such a story. Chengling go thru the growth of a typical Wuxia hero. That's why it's such a great thing to see everything thru the eyes of the "side" characters. Both Zhou Zishu and Wen Kexing don't pretend to be good people. They know who they are and what they are: people who have not done a lot of good things.

They both found love and acceptive in one another. They are soulmates.....and nothing else matter.

There are so many supporter characters and they all played their parts so well.

It's not a prefect show. It does have some set back toward the ending due some editing. Maybe they ran out of money so a lot of important events happened off stage, but I could still use my imagination to fill in the gap. I wish it has 5 more episodes so we could see all the things that need to be shown to be a perfect show. Still, I'm very happy with the ending.

At the end of the day, Word of Honor is one of the best show I have watched. I cannot describe it but I love this drama so much. I have watched it 3 times from beginning to end without skipping. I watched some episodes multiples times. I highly recommend WOH to all drama watcher.
