Great potential, horrible shit

I don't know how it happens but I came across the same type of drama again - a great potential, a great mystery and main root of the story story but the FL is a horrible trash of a person hurting everyone around her. However, even though she's such a trash destroying and behaving like shit towards literally all the people who care about her, she's just forgiven by everyone and a ML who should basically put her in a toilet and flush it 10 times runs like crazy to help her instantly after discovering her motives.

She suffered - yes. She suffered because of her own stupidity and being a trash of a person in the first place. We may forgive her due to the pressure she faced taking care of her sister with autism. Ok - let's say she might have collapsed mentally, she made a mistake and left her sister on a train, her sister "died" because of her so now she has a regret and an obsession. Ok - it is understandable. Due to that, she was obsessed with finding the "murderer" of the show - ok. I get all of that. However, when she found the only person helping her, taking care of her, she hid all of her problems and ran to the stupid secondary ML instead of pursuing truth with the ML who was helping her all the time already - he even risked his life for her while the secondary ML had literally no advantage and there was no reason to choose his help. Still - she just left the good and caring guy, chose the help of a SML without any real reason to do so. It wasn't logical even for the sake of her hidden investigation. Then she destroyed life of the ML, he lost his house, he lost his job, he couldn't support his mother with dementia - all because of her wrong-doings. What's even worse, she did all of that perfectly aware of his troubles (magically discovering them by a coincidence on a way). Of course, he did not know anything about her but she knew everything about him and all she did was destroying, breaking, leaving all the people who cared about her for people who did not care at all and literally did nothing to her as compared to those who as I said - risked their lives a couple of times - literally - the ML took a hit with a knife, attacked a professional boxer just for her sake when she was hurt by this boxer, saved her from disciplinary comitee a couple of times, he became her friend, her only family she's never had except of her sister - but she was only and consistently behaving like a total bitch towards him.

So she did all of that, used the ML for pursuing her goal, did not even reveal truth to him even after she made everyone's life hell and then - guess what - she gets into trouble again, our ML magically discovers truth by a next coincidence and what - runs like crazy to help her. She's forgiven by everyone, she regains her friends, everything clears up, the murderer gets arrested, a dead sister magically lives and a man who should again - kick her in the butt afterwards, at least after helping her if he's the real angel, he still does all he can to help finding that sister for her... when she does literally nothing (!!!) - and happy end.

Totally shitty shit. It's just disgusting. Such dramas should be really taken down because they promote wrong values, wrong behavior, wrong examples under a wrapping of the romantic, self-sacrificing, heroic and "pure" love. Such a bullshit. It's really stupid, just wrong. Simply - do not watch this shit, please.

Much worse than a 1st season

To be honest, I had to fight with myself a couple of times to do not drop it.

*** SPOILERS, SPOILERS, SPOILERS ***

First of all, it totally resets everything from the previous season. Theoretically, a story is continued but please - everyone both in prosecution and police should be basically scared of Shi Mok like hell. He brought down the biggest tycoon as well as one of the closest men for the Korean President. Both public and police/prosecution inner circles must know everything on him in detail - here it seems like they do not. The police bad woman and her equally bad superior should basically piss their pants after getting to know who's on the other side and the bad prosecutors should also do EVERYTHING they can to stop him from joing the commission equally pissing their pants that he'll cause troubles for all of them. However, it doesn't happen. She Mok is basically nerfed and pushed back and back, bullied by everyone (he's still pure and fair but even police and friends treat him as an enemy!!!), while police pack from the first season gets promotions out of nowhere. Also, a bad/good/shady, young prosecutor from the first season does everything like he did not have any problems - he should be always scared, monitored and invigilated by a lot of parties! It does not make sense at all, it does not work like that. I get that they had to present a new story, it started well but it went totally wrong - worse and worse with each episode.

Next thing - there's literally no bond between Shi Mok, that police girl and the other "friends". The first season established quite strong understanding as well as friendships. We could expect it to be continued already in a perfectly working team with no superiors, no external forces being able to create the slightest confusion between them. Especially with our police girl - so pure and particular about honor, justice etc. - inn the end of the 1st season, it turned out that LITERALLY, ONLY Shi Mok & the stood by justice side, was honest and true to those values. After all the others disappointed the police girl returning to normal, corrupted, self-centred or irrelevant attitudes, Shi Mok literally slayed them and the public with honesty, good intentions and from beginning to the end - went to TV to keep his promise, even the police girl was quite passive, he gave chances to those who deserved, destroyed evil-doers, gave credit to all working with him even if they were not pure at all.

Here - it's all erased. The police girl behaves like she cares only about her new job - doing what superiors want instead of rebelling from the previous seasons, she openly stoods against and against Shi Mok while he's still the only pure being in this show - the only rational party of the whole commission even. He still does things he doesn't have to for his previous friends like getting a warrant for them without even being asked for - what's more - not only without being asked but while being betrayed by people he keeps helping just for the sake of some stupid prejudice and conflict of interests between their organisations - we see how the police girl's assistant blabbers bullshit that Shi Mok is just a prosecutor like the whole rest and that during the meeting he was against them, that he couldn't ask him for help - which is a total, total bullshit and Shi Mok does everything without even being asked. The police girl still does nothing, goes against and against him for no f***ing reason.

I really can't accept a lot of things happening here. There're interesting parts, yes, the story of the ex-wife may be a great arc. The team gets together in the end and brings down the new bad guys but it's horrible, literally horrible and so stupid. Suddenly, they're friends again while Shi Mok is still the only pure one but why does he care that much about the police girl if she's basically treating him like shit in this season.

The intrigue is also just boring & small as compared to the blast, highest degree one from the 1st season. A horrible disappointment.

I totally do not understand the ideas behind it, I do not like the 2nd season while I totally loved the 1st one both because of th intrigues, characters, development.

Illogical piece of trash

This drama is stupid beyond belief. She literally had no reason to hide truth from him, literally no reason for trying to escape as soon as possible when she entered this world again either. She had no reason to hide anything when he pointed his gun at her counting to 10, for god's sake!!! Who would even care a bit about hidding such stuff in such a situation!!! It's not anything dangerous, not anything important at all either. There's absolutely 0 reason why she shouldn't tell him! She's: a) totally irrealistic or b) a complete, uter trash of an idiot.

She could have simply explain everything in three senetences and seriously - there was no reason to do otherwise. Just like that: "I know you'd think I am crazy but you and your whole world is a comic created by my father so all the strange things happening to you may be explained by this. I somehow entered here from another world, I know all about you and even though you think I am crazy, I may prove it by telling you extremely detailed and private things no one would ever know about you or about this world and other characters history."

THE END OF THE STORY. SERIOUSLY.

Also - when she got to speak with her father for the first time - she shouldn't just leave accepting they would discuss things later. ALSO - when she told him truth through the phone, he confirmed he knew she entered the comic world, she should just respond: "No - you shut your fucking mouth now, listen to your daughter, this is not your own business anymore since it influenced my life like hell."

ANOTHER END OF THE STORY.

That different show about the guy coming to another world from his comic when he was an author at least had some sense about him not revealing truth at first. This is just a horrible, stupid piece of shit.

This show is great and horrible at the same time. Must watch but must also understand why it is bad.

It's gonna be a long one so please - read everything to understand my point of view.

First of all, this is the second drama where my favourite actor Ji Chang Wook plays a very nice dude - a man who is honest, friendly, fair towards everyone (Suspicious Partner being the first such a show) but as a "reward", he's betrayed by a woman he loves and by his closest friends. You read it right - it looks like a fluffy, pure, supporting, slice of life friendship but LITERALLY all of them are assholes and all have betrayed him a couple of times. First time - they betrayed him by being 100% passive, not believing him, pretending that they were doing something when they did nothing while they saw his suffering for a whole year - this is the first time - such people are not real friends. They should have listened to him, talked to him, helped him getting over his los or help him figuring out what really happened. The second time when they betrayed him is not as obvious but it is even worse - basically - after the big "reveal" from our FL culprit (somewhere around 14-15 episode), they should kick her ass and punish her for her behavior - not forgive her, not stupidly comfort her nor support her like we see here. Especially, since throughout the whole show, they seemed to criticize the "camera thief" when they did not know her identity yet. After getting to know - boom - magically she's ok, they support her because she "had her reasons"... It is a total bullshit. By doing what they did - being passive towards the only good guy here who does not betray anyone (all the rest had their stupid moments and they screwed up with their own relationships while the ML was totally pure throug the whole show), then comforting and accepting the stupid but more important - CRUEL! - behavior of the FL culprit - they betray both the ML and they show that they do not have any dignity nor any self-awareness about themselves. A truth is that a friend sometimes needs to punish another, scold another, not forgive another to teach a proper lesson. That is what true friends are also for. Friendship is worth anything if you can lose it due to your stupidity. If everything may be always forgiven, if friends will not scold you for being an asshole - those are not friends and this is not friendship. FL used her friends and used their mutual friend whose hart she had broken. She should have been punished by the real friends - real friends of her - not even him. The real friends should not forgive her, should take the ML's side and punish her heavily for what she's done. Here it's even worse because the friends are actually mutual - connected through another relationship. I've been in a similar situation where one of partners in my friends' couple behaved like shit and I fucking scolded him like hell, broke contact with him even though I did not personally know the girl he was with - it was my girl's friend - I still could understand who was wrong here and I did not want to support such an asshole even if he was my friend back then. But let's concentrate on the main heroes of the drama story.

The ML loved the FL but not only that. He was for her in her worst hour, he helped her, he saved her from depression and from breaking apart. She left him WITHOUT ANY REASON - just a stupid, ungrateful - you know who. She had a couple of chances to make things right, to repent for that and to solve things - but no. She was a coward - that's true. That may be something hard to overcome. Ok, I get that. But this man literally saved her in all the possible senses, she behaved as wrong as possible and she was mentally stable enough to open up a company, to live her life for such a long time, to use her friends after understanding their relationship with the man she betrayed. She changed to a better, stronger person because of the ML and there was literally no reason for her to not try and make things right. The worst part is however, that she was totally cruel. Not only wrong but cruel towards the ML. It was cruel, very cruel. He gave her everything, she gave him suffering in the worst way possible, then escaped any responsibility and still happily used their mutual friends to be her own support. How do you call that? Is there even a proper word?

Then our masochistic ML. There's literally not reason for him to forgive her. There's no reason why he suddenly starts working to rebuild it (again - he does it on his own, it's all his work in the end!). She did nothing. She did nothing to rebuild it. She was just forgiven and rewarded with a love she did not deserve but THAT IS THE WORST STUFF IN THIS WHOLE SHOW - SHE DID NOTHING TO REGAIN IT! IT WAS ALL DONE BY A ML WHO HAD NO REASONS TO DO IT!

Such a decision just kills a great potential of the scenario. The premise seems great. The general idea, the relationships, the characters themselves - totally ideal for a great drama. It might have had a lot of things - real friendship, happy ending, real love, a lesson of how to screw up things and then repent for them, work hard to finally make them right. It didn't happen. Nothing of this great potential has been actually brought into life. It was destroyed - by a stupid plot, stupid characters' decisions, no guts, no positive message.

In the end, it wraps up the negative behaviors in a package of a beautiful, true friendship and forgiveness. This is bullshit.

At the same time, the premise is so great and the technical part of this show is great. The idea stays too good to waste by not watching it but you should have all the terrible things listed by me in mind.

There's something very funny about it

You see, there's an always reocurring motive in so many series. Our MLs and FLs usually have their best, loyal friends. Those friends are too ideal, cope up with everything, support everyone and risk their lives to protect the MLs/FLs. Let's ignore a fact that it's pathological - I still always laugh when a big, painful story is revealed by a ML/FL to each other like they've never, ever spoke about it to anyone. How did they get those super-loyal, super understanding friends then? Like no one has ever asked about it. Those best friends theoretically know but they never have asked, never have discussed those, never have made the ML/FL realize what they are able to realize now thanks to what - a romantic love? It's so naive that there always has to be a new, magical, "game-changing" question asked by a new love for the ML/FL to realize basic stuff. Are they idiots, are they aliens? Seriously? Are those friends just walking around them playing comedy role that script-writers gave them for the show? :-P

It's really funny since quite an obvious thing - for instance - a great, close friend of the ML would ask how he felt, how he coped up with everything, was he ok, how it was for him etc. I'm sure they'd drink beer, talk openly, know each other's feelings. Men are really not some crazy beings, we have feelings and when our male friends suffer, we're not insensitive towards that because - huh - a male, not a woman so we won't talk! Men friendships remain different, obviously, but we discuss, share problems, suggest solutions, cheer up each other - even much more openly and without restraints that women do.

In the end, when naive scenarios like that come to that supposedly romantic, magical scene of a single, basic question - and it's presented like no one has ever asked that, the ML/FL were completely ignorant to it, now they magically wake up - it's funny - not romantic, not beautiful. It's cringe.

On a top of that - the mother's secred is stupid, it's not a secret, there're no reasons to hide anything from a daughter, extremely far-fetched, naive and illogical stuff. A policeman had no reason to cover anything up, a mother had no reason to "turn herself in" since she has just killed an attacker in her own defense or rather - in defense of a policeman, so it was a pure self-defense aka no problem, no reason for hiding anything. Majority of people here do not speak up when they should, stop asking after someone answers "it's nothing". The whole show could be solved in around 5 episodes but it's artificially stretched and all those forced secrets make literally no sense.

Basically, a lot of fuss is made about nothing in this drama, it's like a storm in a glass of water...

One of the best series out there. Don't break it by a stupid continuation, please.

A total masterpiece. Let me tell you why.

Both the ML and the FL are not stupid like in other dramas. They're not passive - they demand answers here and now, they understand the world around them, they do not make stupid decisions for the sake of the story - aka - stupid decisions without any reason of doing so. Here everything makes sense, everthing is justified. Even a theoretically stupid decision is just a distracting tactic and it is required for the sake of everyone. The FL understands it perfectly afterwards and she is even more thankful because the ML saved her mother by doing so when she thought she's lost her because of him.

Both ML & FL are strong. They do not bow to anyone, they do not lower their eyes because of some stupid hierarchy, rituals etc. - I know it is Korea, I know this society and I know why it's depicted like that in many other series but Lawless Lawyer as well as a couple of other series I love show it is not needed even in Korea. The strong character may be strong, may spill water in the face of the asshole even if this asshole is the most powerful being of the whole town while still paying respect to people who deserve it because of their actual deeds.

There's nothing I am able to criticize about this show. The intrigue - great, characters - great, actors - great.

Horrible behaviors of characters, great potential of the story

Really, those characters are all I hate most in Asian drama series.

The secondary leads assholes who should basically suffer for their horrible deeds through the whole show find both love, redemption and even rebuild friendship + get a new friend instead. It's disgusting. Totally disgusting. The secondary FL and ML should be kicked in balls/crotch every single time they're on screen but no. Both the main FL and the main ML who has a full right to kick them forgive their treason instead, the FL becomes their friend even though they're just lowly creatures and she also came through the same treason as the ML so she should despise the secondary leads equally as him. I can't accept such stuff. It's stupid, disgusting, not realistic, not worth any praise - it's even bad to show such examples to other people because it teachers wrong things. They do not deserve any redemption, they should be paying for what they've done and both the ML and FL should proudly say F***K OFF to them smiling and walking away hand in hand for secondary leads to only suffer. Here - no, just the opposite, stupid, worthless shit in this dram. It's just stupid, serves nothing, just follows those pseudo-dramatic patterns of any typical drama. The worst work from ML actor - Healer and K2 were his great roles, this is total garbage.

Another problem - the main leads themselves. They're worst of worst, which is surprising because this guy is capable of playing characters in action series who actually do what they're supposed to do (mentioned Healer and K2). Here - no, nothing like that happens - he's just a worthless piece of shit. He loves her but says he does not (why the hell, what is the reason for that, why would anyone want to see it?). What the hell is that. It's also stupid and disgusting. She suffers, he sees it but does nothing. When important things need to be said, a phone rangs. A normal person would turn it off or tell the other person to f***ing forget the phone or not important meeting and listen and stay here now because what's here is important. But no. People walk off at most important moments, most important things remain untold and both the characters behave like total, worthless idiot emo-kids. It's totally the same for a FL.

The worst thing is that they get guts in totally unreasonable situations. The ML scolds her, criticizes her and can stand strong against anyone but when the crucial, most important moment comes, the always weak FL finds some magical strength to tell him to do not get involved in her problems. He behaves like an idiot, can't say anything while he should do the thing he always does and just respond: no - I will get involved and I will not listen to your bullshit right now so stop with that and listen. Nothing like that happens. It's so frustrating watching this drama, it's really like torturing yoruself when the beginning promised such a great potential.

I really hate watching this. The story has a great promise, as I said, it may have been great but it turned out the worst typcial shit of korean dramas. The ML could be strong, take care of the woman, appear when he has to appear and just be a normal guy but no. He had all this potential and it all has ended after the best scene in 2nd or 3rd episode when he protects the truth and justice sacrificing his career but then - he becomes a worthless shit no one normal would like to watch - only some romantic teenager idiots who like such emo shit.

It's really horrible.

A bit naive but still fun!

Two of my favourite male actors playing here together. Both known from action-dramas, kickin' ass etc. so it's been fun seeing their "virgin" faces in such a comic duo who more often get their assess kicked here, lol.

Lee Joon Gi seems destined to play those vigilante roles after this - repeats himself in Lawless Lawyer, Scholar who walks the night, Flower of Evil, Again my Life - a man basically keeps playing the same role, the same scenario over and over again, from series to series but still - he does it great and he never casts in bad series - some magical instinct to choose well.

Ji Chang Wook - hmm - a similar dude to some extent but for better and worse, his roles are more versatile - literally for better and worse - since he is able to show more of his talents while also showing his cringe side and a taste for some dull, romantic, stereotypical as much as it gets roles.

All in all, even though a Hero is naive like Healer or Pinocchio - it's been very entertaining and I'd say - it's worth watching no matter your taste in dramas - there's something here for everyone.

No stupidity, no bullshit

A very good show. Rational behaviors, rational approach, reasonable decisions of all the characters and no stupid redemptions for no reason, without efforts, no stupid, ungrateful approach from anyone towards anyone. There's a small part suggesting a crack between a ML & SML but it turns out completely staged for the sake of fighting and deceiving a strong enemy.

Some people could be disappointed by a final pairing - because another woman would fit better to end up in a relationship with a ML and the show seemed to suggest that early on too. However, it's not that bad and it's not irrational - at least - there was a reason why they end up together, it did not happen "just because".

Also - it has a very good music, a very interesting story, concept, good characters, lots of great action (fighting) scenes. This shows empowers instead of promoting a toxic society, toxic friendships, toxic relationships presented as "romantic" by a lot of other series.

Also - watch Lawless Lawyer, Bad Prosecutor - those are basically the same.

I literally hate this trope...

HEAVY SPOILERS: Always the same. A total piece of trash (SML) redeemed as the best friend of the ML/FL. What is the sense in that? What does it teach to the viewers? I have already felt it going this way during those pseudo-romantic scenes with a FL - in those, she feels bad for him and the melancholic music plays when she should actually rather spit in his face and beat the hell out of him.

I really enjoy when a "dark" style character/duo wrecks and mops the floor with the bad guys instead of a forced, fake redemption presented by so many series. In Lawless Lawyer it is ok - it's not friendship, it's not a redemption but rather consequences of being a piece of shit, which force the bad guy to kinda help our ML & FL by fighting for his life against the crime boss lady who used him and betrayed him.

This show had a lot of potential, has a lot of funny scenes, the relationship between ML/FL & their team is great for a comedy, not realistic, of course - but fun. However, the main story, what they did with a SML screams for Kim Do Ki to put his glasses on and pay a visit in his taxi to make things right for this show... It's especially funny when in another drama of the ML here (One Dollar Lawyer), an actor playing Kim Do Ki makes a small cameo - it would be much more needed here...

Good story, stupid decisions of characters

There're those series where a story itself is great, characters have a lot of potential but their extremely stupid, unrealistic decisions make it a strange mixture in the end. I always have a feeling that the series is both good and bad. I love it and I want to drop it at the same time getting so frustrated with the stupid, stupid, stupid behavior of characters.

Here they break up a couple of times in extremely unrealistic and idiotic way. Characters do not behave like they should because they believe in shit that it would be "selfish" etc. Typical melodrama rubbish. So the story is great - yes - but it's full of Korean stupid age respect and hierarchy (a psychiatrist son should basically punch his father in the face a couple of times and respond to him that he's the one who doesn't have any right to speak and that he should stop being such a trash) but also - just stupid, stupid, stupid, passive behaviors instead of kicking through the door when the situation basically screams for it. The ML should stop the FL when she always tries breaking up with him - it's so obvious she does it for some stupid, bullshit reason she doesn't want herself but only plays strong. There were thousands of things, which could be solved by simple conversation - even responding in a normal, realistic way instead of standing like a mute tree or saying some bullshit that no one should ever say in such a situation!

A walkthrough on Eastern Asian stereotypes

This is exactly as I described. Who is beautiful, who is handsome and why, why does it even matter more than other qualities, what is a hierarchy, what is a current matrix of success, development, happiness, what are expectations and a role of elders/family/children - all this is pictured here to the levels of over-visibility. Eastern Asia seems to actually work like that, speaking from experience. Of course, it's exaggerated in dramas but still - the base tendencies remain.

Imagine the most typical scene of the most typical drama - a boss/new employee enters a building and the whole flock of office ladies start saying how handsome he is. Imagine another scene - a main heroine with a face of a frog is complimented by her secretary how beautiful she looks like since it is implied that a beautiful secretary is supposed to be that "less attractive" than a FL. There will be thousands of scenes of this sort here. Just random rubbish based on social hierarchy, expectations and a matrix.

Like your typical, pop-culture Asian Man helmet hairstyle vs thousands of different hairstyles possible that "alternative", creative and much more handsome Asian mean wear but they will never be considered handsome in those cultures. Anyway, I am still waiting for a drama with a long-haired ML CEO with a beard + a a short, pink haired "gal" FL secretary or even better - with reversed positions.

I hate this idea of evil character being forgiven and all forgotten like nothing happens

This show has a great premise. A story is interesting, it has lots of potenatial, great atmosphere and such. However, it doesn't make sense at all that the most evil character of the story is constantly being whitewashed and cleansed from all his wrongdoings. It's just disgusting. He keeps lying, cheating, flirting with a couple of women at the same time, scheming all the way, using all the means - crime, harrassment and assault, espionage, hacking, dividing people, breaking relationships - literally everything just to achieve his business goals and win but then - people who should never forgive what he had done just forgive him easily like nothing happened, a woman of the now dead ex betrayed by him forgives and falls in love with him for no reason, forgets the original idea behind her action, changes sides betraing her allies, also
- his great opponent - the ML becomes his ally and saves him in the same manner.

I keep asking myself - why, what for? It's totally not needed at all. He should pay for all his crimes and that should be the lesson from this show. In contrary, it's teaching that everything may be just forgotten, forgiven and solved without any consequences. It doesn't make sense!!!

Also - through the course of the series there're a couple of idiotic bets. Why on earth people bet on that! It is obvious and easy - just refuse. Even the whole culmination is from such a stupid bet. If it was me, I'd just laugh in the face of those people provoking me and wish them luck to find another idiot for such tricks? They think I am afraid - who cares, let them think this way! It's so, so, soooooooo idiotic in this series.
