Don't take it too seriously

I loved this drama for its cuteness and fluff. It was not a perfect drama, but it had laughs, slight romance, and even a little mystery thrown in for good measure. When I watch a drama, I do not look at "realism." If I wanted reality, I would not watch dramas lol. I judge my dramas based on the drama's ability to make me forget and want to watch more. Therefore, if you look for how realistic the drama is, don't read too much into my review. Jumping right in, the part that hooked me from the start was the FL, Xing Yue, in her tribe. She was the leader of a tribe that values women over men. They do not have many of the modern conveniences we have, and they are very remote, so social norms and expectations are different. Xing Yue meets and saves the ML, Gao Zheng He. The interaction between the two is very funny all the way through the drama. They have many amusing scenes throughout the drama as Gao Zheng He attempts to subdue and "tame" Xing Yue so she does not give away "industry secrets" of his job. Though the ML is scheming and "bad," there is a sweetness in him that Xing Yue brings out in him. He cannot help but assist her through the difficulty she had adjusting to the change between her tribe and the city she follows the ML into. In addition to Gao Zheng He, the second male lead, Yi Tian, helps her navigate and understand her new society. The FL has great chemistry with both of the males, and it did not bother me that the romance was a slow-burn romance. My delight was in watching the FL learn and grow in her new environment. I found myself watching the interactions with each of the other characters who helped her learn and grow. I could have done with less of the "job" scenes (he was a jewel thief) of the ML and his co-workers, but I just endured them to get to the fun parts.
I found the acting to be well done. The FL, played by Zhang Ya-Qin, was the one who carried the show in my opinion. She and the ML, Ren Yu Lun had a sweet chemistry that was perfect for the drama. They did not have an off-the-charts sexual tension-type chemistry, but more of a fun and playful chemistry that was fun to watch. The secondary lead, Chen Xi Jun (the character Yi Tian) had a fun relationship with Zhang Ya-Qin. However, outside of his interactions with Zhang Ya-Qin, I did not think his character was developed enough for me to like the secondary love story. I was not as impressed with the other cast members. They were not awful; they just were not as memorable. The secondary love relationships (there were two) were meh. I determine the value of acting based on my own criteria, so take it with a grain of salt. You may not have the same criterion :)
The OST was okay, I skipped the intro and ending songs after the first several episodes. The songs within the drama were not memorable, and I never rewound or re-played parts to hear the songs. I never looked up the OST to find the artists as I have with some dramas. The way that I determine the value of the music is based on: 1. do I skip the intro/closing or watch them to sing with the songs? 2. do I look up the artist singing the song? 3. do I look up the translation, so I know what the song is saying? 4. do I listen to the OST outside of the drama itself?
The rewatch value on this was slow in coming for me. As a matter of fact, I dropped it twice before watching a YouTube trailer and trying it again. It was definitely not one that I rewatched right away, however, I have rewatched parts of the show over again. I finally rewatched it fully to remind myself why I did not immediately rewatch it. My main beef with this drama is what others have said. The ML was not super kind to the FL, and it grated on me at first. As many others have stated, the culture of this drama left something to be desired. I do not like the way males treat females in many of these dramas. However, it was much less over the top and degrading than some, and they addressed it some with the fact that the FL was from another culture where the females could literally lock up men if they were out of line.
Could this have been more well done? Yes. But, overall, it was a great stress reliever for me to watch and laugh after a long day.
