glorifies toxic relationships, not a realistic portrayal at all.

I've never written a review before but oh god this show - please don't go watching it for the main leads, the entire storyline around them is pretty disappointing. honestly its funny how this show has portrayed a wlw relationship so well compared to any drama i've ever watched and soljiwan are literally the only reason why sat through all 10 episodes. i think its high time that kdrama writers realise that its okay for the FL to not end up with the ML, actual relationships don't work this way and even if they do there needs to be good communication; none of which was in the show. the main characters have zero growth. the show had so much potential. what waste of a good cast.

(forgive me for any mistakes i just feel super cheated by this ending rn)

A truly unforgettable experience.

I was putting off this show for a long time because it was a family drama, and I believed it was overhyped, but oh man, I was utterly wrong. It's such a bittersweet story about youth and relationships; it made me tear up almost every episode. I do have certain parts I didn't like; I was not a fan of the romance. Also, not going to lie; I did watch on 1.5x after episode 15.
Episode 20 made me cry my eyes out like a baby; the last 10 minutes give you a painful but sweet closure to the beautiful story about the Ssangmundong neighbourhood. Sounds funny coming from a 19-year-old, but it makes you want to sit back and think about your childhood. A very memorable experience overall.

I love the title 'Reply 1988', it wasn't until the last 10 minutes of the show that I understood what it meant. Bonus is the music; I added so many songs to my playlist after watching the drama!

Light and a decent watch, but could've been better.

while i enjoyed it as a light sitcom myself, i was genuinly confused as to how so many people disliked it, but i understand why this drama couldn't exactly capture what it was aiming for. first of all, it's great to see a drama featuring good international actors. The acting was really great, it was the script that lacked. maybe if the writers would've researched a little bit more and if we were given good character development, then this drama would've been a bit more enjoyable. the concept was nice and refreshing, sadly the script didn't do it justice with the unnecessary (average/bad) humour that could've been done away with. second, i was scared that it may have some racist dialogues, but i believe there weren't any dialogues/scenes as such (i may be wrong tho pls do let me know if i missed anything with racist undertones). oh and also, the laughing track was unpleasant but it faded to the background after a few episodes and it didn't bother me as much as others are commenting. i have to add, the show was very aesthetic and colourful!

overall, it's a decent watch, you can give it a go if you want a break from typical kdramas and wish to see a different format. this show is a good step towards promoting more diversity in kdramas, hopefully future dramas like this work on characters development more! :)
