Relatively very pleasant but lacking in emotional resonance

The Master”s Sun is objectively, a very pleasant watch. The story is very easy to follow with great insertions of mystery , thrill , comedy , horror and romance . The writers really executed balance in all ways in this drama for sure.

However, as I finish the title - I’m left with an overwhelming sense of lack lustre feelings . The romances were not that emotionally gripping , the love declaration scenes were not noteworthy. Moreover , I personally felt the romances were immature in nature . There seemed to be numerous misunderstandings but coupled with a lot of communication which did not make sense in the end. On the flip side - I do like how this drama had a period feel to it . Where one touch of the hand did more than a racy scene . That was nice . Plus the side romances are quite sweet too.

Then there were the ghosts . The format of ghost story of the week was plausibily engaging. But subjectively I was not a fan in the beginning and found sone of the ghost stories in the first half of the drama quite wearisome.

As for the acting - I wouldn’t say it was mind blowing but definitely special mention to Gong Hyo -Jin. She acted her part perfectly. The male lead was kind of lacking to be honest . The comedy was spot on but his emotional pathos seemed a bit trying which was odd because he was so great and tortured in I’m Sorry, I Love You. Perhaps it was his script that imprisoned his charisma.? Because he came across as stilted .

The music was lovely. Loved the sing along Touch Love and Hyorin’s Driving Me Crazy was beautiful.

I’m not a rewatch fan generally speaking but sometimes I can be swayed but not this time .

Overall- it’s actually a good show and I can see the hype surrounding it but subjectively speaking - I failed to see its emotional resonance .
