Not my best choice ever but…

Just finished watching this today. My thoughts below.

I honestly struggled watching this drama and complete all 37 episodes. Maybe I am not the intended audience as this is more of a family-centric drama specifically a mother-daughter dynamics. I started watching it because of Xu Kai while waiting for his other drama As Beautiful As You to air and was expecting it to be romance driven as implied by the trailers. Maybe that’s my biggest disappointment because it felt like I was duped and it fell short of my expectations. Don’t get me wrong, this drama is excellent on its own to its intended audience with lots of lessons about life and family. It’s just that this is not for me.

Xu Kai is ONLY a supporting role here with minimal screen time. The brother even has more screen time than him and his love plot was more focused than the so-called main leads. I love the acting especially the mom who successfully brought out my inner rage everytime she opens her mouth at least until episode 27 or 28 when she realized her wrong ways. I was prepared for an overbearing mom character but my preparation fell short for this level of mom that I have to skip her scenes for my sanity’s sake. Great job to the actress playing MCH’s mom!!!

My overall rating is 7/10 but just because this drama’s not for me. Plotwise, I didn’t enjoy it. The OSTs are also not catching my attention. However, the actors are doing a great job with their outstanding performance portraying their characters! The cinematography is also good with picturesque scenery especially with mom’s hometown. Boticelli and Xing’lan hotels’ façade are also eye catchers. These salvaged an otherwise poorer rating from me.

Thank you BCE for a roller coaster ride! Though watching this drama will not be one of my Best Choice Ever.

Best Heartwarming Family drama of the year

Best choice ever is maninly a family drama which protrays huan's growth, pain and love and relationship between her mother. She cuts ties with her mother out of anger and tries to be independant. Truly a nice family drama the ML's were great in terms of acting realistically and showed a great, loving relationship. We may not have had much intimate scenes and kissings but remember this is a family orientated drama that mainly focuses on huan's family, you coulc also say the mum's the main character in this show.
It comes to realisation that your mum has always been their for you, and cares for you and that you should hold on to your parents before its too late, have no regrets maybe not forcing marriage with her ex-boyfriend. She had good intentions but was clearly fixated on huan's future but slowly realises what huan wants is different to what she wants for her.
Truly, worth a watch after so many struggles it ended with a happy ending, perfect for those family-drama fans out there!

One of the best C dramas that I've watched

This is truly a gem of a drama.
There are few or none of the usual tropes.
I urge you to watch this precious series.
The ML's (Li Xian) job is to take care of the dead before they are buried
The FL (Zhou Li Tong) got into an accident in her high school years and lost part of her leg and because of that, she wants to be a top sales person.
However, both these somewhat negative issues makes the couple meld together in the most lovable way and passionate way.

The best parts:

1) love between the ML and FL is outstanding, passionate and rewarding- any parting between them is just temporary
2) acting is very natural - no unusual sobbing, crying, FL's family sticks together well in spite of some turmoil.
3) ML is perfect for the part - handsome in a manly way (no usual cutesy here)
4) believable script
5) no tired tropes

One prevailing issue:
The ML and FL live far apart - that is a struggle between them until it gets solved.

This is a rewatch for me - definitely.

I would compare its watchability to Hidden Love, Fireworks of my Heart, Amidst a Storm of Love and Road Home all Chinese dramas!

AUGUST— A New Meaning

This documentary is incredibly touching, showing his determination and bravery to continue moving forward. This is the most heart-touching documentary I’ve ever watched. A debut documentary that goes way beyond expectations. This is not just his healing journey, it has a very calming and encouraging effects on others. No matter what challenges lie ahead, we’ll move on together. Because of him, from now on we are going to have a new meaning to AUGUST. Thank you Zhang Zhe Han. I’m so proud of you.

One word, DISAPPOINTING

Watching the trailer I really had my hopes high. But it was sooo slow and barely anything related to End of the World. The first 2 eps, I was like okay them taking their time for deeper story build-up but Nope, the whole series was like that, bland. At least their acting was good otherwise I wouldn't have been able to skip n finish Watching. They got such good actors for every role but what's the use if the story and main plot is lacking-_-
And the last few episodes, I waited for the boom asteroid blasting ending BUT NOOOO, they even robbed us from that. It was really really trash plot. Maybe they could've gone for another base line story, rather than going on bout goodbye earth, it should've been Goodbye my stars n removed the whole wnd of the world BS.

Overwhelmingly good

There is only one word that can describe it: overwhelming.
I have only been twice overwhelmed by tears to the point of suffocation by Korean dramas, the first time was not a good one as it was too cruel, however..
This drama is on a new level, i have never expirienced something so amazing on a screen before, i mean i knew this screen writer was very good but i have no idea how she manages to outdo herself every time..
any way, this was the best drama i have ever expirienced hands down, and aside from a few overly dramatic scenes that are borderline sci-fi, this was a perfectly flawless K-drama that might be a once in a lifetime expirience.

Endearing and positive story about relationships

I loved this drama. Plotwise, in my opinion it wrapped things well and satisfactory. As for romances, I wish there was one or two more episodes just to see how well these relationships have evolved. Maybe the creators hoped for another season, but for some reason it hasn't ever materialised.

All four main leads were lovable and cute even when their sincere feelings were misfiring, and I cheered for them all. What I liked the most, each character grew as a person. Mad respect, true friendship, mature communication and genuine love. I understood what attracted Seung-Chan to Ye-Jin and not to Cindy. Cindy was more age appropriate for him, but not challenging enough for his brain that was always working overtime, and his innocent heart went for kindness of Ye-Jin's. However, that doesn't mean he won't eventually fall in love with Cindy - she sure changed her demeanor and doesn't intend to give up on him yet. Jun-mo and Ye-Jin were definitely destined to be together, and I liked their bickering and understood the fear behind losing what you have for uncertainties of romance.

If you are looking for hot kiss scenes, there weren't any, just sweet, meaningful conversations and swoonworthy gestures. Oh I feel so much warmth in my heart now. I wish people would really be so kind to each other in real life.

Where to begin... The good parts. The actors were full of emotions. You could feel the pain or love eith your whole heart. The romance was cute on its special way. The age gap wasn't talked or pointed out that much so that it would steal the light. I think that it was also important that different daily scenes of the society were shown. For example the SH of the main fem leader on the work environment or the status stereotypes inside a family that still exist.

On the other side now. The slow burn tired me fr so much. I think that 12 eps would've been enough to complete the whole story. The mother made me yell on my screen many time and pause the ep to stop my rage and understand this aspect of culture.
The couple had many communication probs. They wouldn't discuss the important issues. Like how can they say to each other to be by their side when they don't share their inner thoughts at all. That's absurd! A big WHY was written in my face all the time of how they both acted.
As for the fem leader, she overstepped many times on the personal life of her bf (and behind his back) and just said an "I'm sorry, I made a mistake again it won't happen again". Uhm why would it happen on the first place! Why not think about the feelings of your partner above something.

Considering everything though, this series was both enjoyable and a little tiring. I liked that they made peace with their feelings and ended together. I melted with the cuteness and the chemistry they had. I'm not a person that rewatches series but if I was I wouldn't do it. Once is enough.

Cutely bizarre which just became bizarre at the end.

I placed spoilers at the end of this review.

I enjoyed most of this series despite its flaws, but I am a pushover for supernatural storylines. That being said, you should probably skip this series if that does not interest you. This was an interesting and bizarrely cute series with some cool story ideas. The script was light, fluffy (most of the time), and quirky. Unfortunately, the implementation of the ideas was not the greatest at times. My main problem was the end of episode 11 and episode 12. This is when it just became bizarre. Some of the comedy aspect didn’t really hit the mark and there were sections/things that didn’t make sense. Although I liked it, the mystery/suspense aspect was not incorporated very well and seemed out of place. The overall story pacing was good, but there was a lot of wasted screentime. The acting is ok (not horrible or great) considering many of the actors were new.

Random Notes:

Maybe I enjoyed this because I already went into this with low expectations. I was not a fan of the screenwriter/director’s last series (I Will Knock You) which I dropped.

The subtitles are ok. Sometimes the lines are get mixed up with the words of the song that is playing in the background which was confusing.

******Spoiler Alert******

I would have loved to see more of the ghost story element. You do see the girl ghost a few times, but nothing about her backstory.

The second couple made me watch this drama.

The story is similar to What's Wrong with Secretary Kim, a romance between the CEO & an Employee. I like this drama more because of the 4 leads. They've great chemistry with each other.

The Things I liked/loved

One of my favorite scenes is where Kang Tae Moo grandpa says to Kang Tae Moo & Cha Sung Hoon that they are dating & instantly Cha Sung Hoon replies "he isn’t my type."

Samantha & Rachel are two prestigious things of Shin Ha Ri.

Love at first sight for Second Couple. Their clips made me watch it.

Shin Ha Ri gets into Kang Tae Moo’s car right after rejecting him & then calling him archaeopteryx.

I laughed so much when Shin Ha Ri & Jin Young Seo came home drunk & the things they did.

Laughed hard when Shin Ha Ri ran away from Kang Tae Moo & her shoe thrown at his face.

Poor Kang Tae Moo has to go on 11 dates in one day & one in Japan.

Jin Young Seo ran into Cha Sung Hoon’s arms, seeing a cockroach. How sweetly he helped her to get rid of it despite him being afraid of it.

Loved the phase where Kang Tae Moo tortured Shin Ha Ri at work.

The famous meme where Shin Ha Ri doing a happy dance & Kang Tae Moo keeps looking at her.

Love Cha Sung Hoon’s in-line sarcasm to Kang Tae Moo

Cha Sung Hoon & Jin Young Seo argue about not crossing each other's line.

It’s sweet how Kang Tae Moo came running to a drunk Shin Ha Ri at midnight.

The OMG & matching dress of Jin Young Seo & Jo Yoo Jung.

“I’ll make sure that you never forget” uff my favorite line, which is why I decided to watch it in the first place.

“Spend just your time on me. I’ll spend the money”. I wish someone would say this to me.

Jin Young Seo flirting with Cha Sung Hoon & his blushing face is so cute.

Laughed at Cha Sung Hoon expression when he saw Jo Yu Jung in his workplace.

Laugh every time Kang Tae Moo grandpa beats him up.

Laughed so hard at the scene where Cha Sung Hoon & Jin Young Seo help distract Shin Ha Ri’s parents so that Kang Tae Moo could sneak out & the way Shin Ha Ri pushed & pulled Kang Tae Moo from one place to another.

I think my brother would’ve said the same thing as Shin Ha Ri brother said about her dating Kang Tae Moo that, "did she blackmailed him?"

I laughed when Cha Sung Hoon was helping Kang Tae Moo to put on his jacket, a nurse came & misinterpreted that they’re a couple & they said firmly "No"

Laughed so much when Shin Ha Ri’s mother beat Kang Tae Moo & her.

Loved it.

Watch the full episodes than you vote

Finish like that!!!!? ?
Since it is Netflix, tell me there yet like a part 2 coming like a episode 13!!!!!!!
The drama was interesting, you have to watch all, not only ep 1 or 2. Don't pay attention to the ratings, also only around 554 people who votes!!!
But for me like I don't consider it like an end. Like ending like that, like that. And I remember also it says 10 days left soo.
I don't know if it is because of Yoo Ah. Yeah I know what he has done, but nevermind.
A bit of hopes, as on the information above it did not mention when it is ending only a ?.
Also I love the energy and friendships between the children, always here always together for helps.

This one is way underrated! It deserves more recognition

This is a really good story, especially the love story between the 2 leads. Juisi and Yuru’s love story was one of the best ones I have seen portrayed in a Cdrama. This is definitely proof that kissing scenes and implied sex don’t make a romance. Their relationship is definitely a slow burn, but their partnership, friendship and ultimately love is evident in all they do. I like that they really are a pair working together. They even arrive at the same conclusion from different angles multiple times. She is soft spoken but fierce when necessary, and above all she is brave and smart. He is a spoiled child when the story begins, but one with a good heart. He grows into the best kind of hero. But I especially love his sense of humor and a bit of his childish delight. He keeps this even though he grows up. Watching this is riveting TV.

What bumps this drama down a bit for me is the stuff outside the main romance. The bad guy is more like the kind who stomps around wearing a black cape and laughing evilly. He is “behind” all of the chaos that happens, but our heroes know it and still don’t take him out. It feels like we are told he is bad rather than shown it. He never really seems like a compelling bad guy to me and more like just an obstacle for plot purposes. Much of the palace intrigue is less than logical and the selflessness of our main couple means they have to start over 3 times before they finally get their happy after. It makes the story drag quite a bit in the back half.

Overall, watch it for the romance and the palace intrigue, but it would have been better if about 10 episodes had been cut.

Story of Resilience in Life, Love for Both Humans & Geese

Had been interested interested in this one for a while as I wanted to see LX act, I've seen ZYT before in one modern and a two season costume. This was a slice of life with imperfect characters and romance. Great relationships with siblings on the female side and just a rollercoaster of reality that mirrors what we deal with in real modern society. A story of resilience in life and love for both humans and geese.

Pros: LX's acting impressed me enough that after writing this review, I'm off to watch Meet Yourself. His character (CMD) was very much honest, he knew when he was wrong, when to go hard, when to back off, and when to give solace and learned how to seek it. I loved how they showed how through losing his best friend and meeting his Shifu, he was able to turn his life around. Becoming a mortician, he was able to become a gentle source of comfort and independence. Though he didn't know about partnership love until FL or ZJ returned into his life and taught him though she herself really didn't 100% know either. Their chemistry was on point from the get go and you understood that they really were high school sweethearts in their own special way. ZJ wasn't a cookie character either and despite her disability had managed to become quite successful in her field. She did plenty wrong but also knew or was told by her best friend (WXX) or even CMD when she screwed up. No one spared her feelings, but told her straight up what she did wrong which I really liked. And she owned up to them because it was explained to her in an adult fashion. And that's such a breath of fresh air; to air out everything wrong right away and not just let it fester. Very straight forward.

Other favorite characters were WXX as the smart best friend. It was so great to finally see a bestie that wasn't afraid to give ZJ a verbal smack when necessary. Probably one of the best ones I've seen in a modern recently. Her soon to be hubby grew on me too. ZJ's siblings ZY and HNN were some of the smartest kids in terms of EQ ever, loved the three's relationship. Also best friendship goals of the drama were grandma Chen and grandma Lin. From the time they were kids until sadly grandma Lin's passing, those two were the bestest of friends. Another sad and tragic death was Mr. He, who was HNN's father and the other two's stepfather. They'd already lost their father when ZJ was 12 to a car accident that also took half of ZJ's leg (was very glad how she explained phantom pain to CMD; it wasn't glossed over); now HNN eerily also at the age of 12 lost hers. He was such a great father to all three. CMD was there every step of the way for ZJ through that and afterwards. ZY had to become more mature and he did it, though losing his pet goose to a plot device was sad, until the goose showed up with its girlfriend at the very end of the last episode after the credits finished rolling. That was absolutely hysterical.

You laughed, you cried, you enjoyed the precious moments of every character. The OSTs, sets, and everything else was on point. Wish she showed her feelings and vulnerability more. Only when she really screwed up in the end, did she finally stop with the smiles and cried. I get it about vulnerability supposedly looks weak because I've done the same but in reality it's what makes us human and not robots. He called her out on it and that was another great example of how quickly she understood things. I'm glad it was a HE though the way ZJ handled things in the second to last episode left you wanting to bang your head against the wall, the rest of that episode and 21 was essentially them getting back together (with the help of her siblings) and having a long-distance relationship until a freak occurrence made them both say enough is enough, we're not going to be apart anymore. From what I gathered, she was returning to Nanping for good (after all they were already engaged and he's got the great apartment) because with her own business and setting up that medical tourism bit would require her constant attention, she could move about at her own pace. She finally loved someone more than Shanghai. She'd handle healing living people and he would handle respecting the dead and their families. They really did belong together.

Cons: Very few of these. Mom was my least favorite character until her son read her the riot act. Her nagging was nasty and degrading. The stuff she said to all of her kids was something I would personally not have tolerated. I honestly wanted to hit her with a broom for many episodes, I even ffw'd her. She would maybe give 2% of good advice but the rest of the time, it was a hot mess. However, after ZJ fainted from stress over their argument and the mess she caused with CMD, her other two children sat her down and told her what's what. I was surprised how much she improved afterwards; it was in no way an overnight thing but she made every effort to be better which was very appreciated. After a while, she became the mom her kids really needed and should have had from the get go.

Thing I liked least about ZJ was that she brought up her disability nearly every episode sometimes twice to CMD and in general just in regular conversations even though she was the one constantly preaching about independence and being worthy of equality. If people already know, why keep bringing it up? It was just very weirdly written. Nothing to do with the actress. The other thing was why did she have that tendency to bite CMD? It was so out of character; she wasn't a vampire or a dog. Like you're trying to apologize but then do that? Like why?

Last small thing, is when they wrapped up the series, I wish they showed our leads walking hand in hand on the beach of Nanping like the trailers and many posters showed. That would have been the perfect and important way to end with them; so felt that portion was a bit rushed as our other supporting characters got a little something at the end especially the goose. Otherwise, I'm very happy with the HE.

Would I recommend it? Yes, I totally would. This was a slice of life with imperfect people who learned and evolved along the way. Wonderful romance that was believable. If you like mature dramas without tropes, this is for you.

Great cartoon to live action

One of the best examples I've seen for a live action remake of an animated series.

Honestly, I watched it for Neo Hou and so I wasn't really that interested in what the MC was doing and what the whole plot was besides what Wang Ye was up to. I did get sucked into the drama and was pleasantly surprised. But I think my favorite aspect of this show was the fight scenes. An amazing adaptation. This is what I want to see when they do cartoons into live actions. It was campy and cringey and had a lot of playful comedic expressions and movement as it is intentional for a good adaptation of what happened in the cartoon. It doesn't take away from the plot or the serious moments at all.

And the fight scenes were incredible. This is what I want to see when incorporating martial arts into magic/bending! Every ATLA adaptation can take notes!

The show was good overall, and I will definitely go back for a rewatch, especially of the fight scenes.

You're hearing, I'm deaf. We're different... Then I'll be deaf for you.

This is truly a wonderful movie!

I waited so long to watch this as it was not available for the international audience until two weeks ago when they released it on YouTube.

From the beginning to till the end you are going to feel a lot of things that you have never felt before. Because if I be honest I would say we, who can both hear and talk can never truly feel what a deaf/mute/ mute & deaf person really feels. We can try to understand but its far from being felt like one. The mature people can decode the silence but when that silence becomes your life then it's hard to understand spoken words. Which is why this film excels in portraying the message clear and loud. They made you feel those complicated emotions with silence and stares.

Now the most important thing that holds everything together is the leads acting and their insane chemistry. Oh my my I could feel the love from the screen! From hesitant gaze to slow stare I fell in love with the characters. Their chemistry was chemistring >.<

The OSTs and the music just hits the spot! I can definitely listen to them all day. They're so melodious and meaningful. From the trailer it's the first thing that made me want to watch the movie.

This movie is highly recommended if you want to let go of stress and those pent up emotions, then this is for you. It has fluff, a bit comedy, romance and a door to the wall of silence.

After finishing the movie now I can understand why is it named "One More Time. With Feelings"!
