Really easy to like

Although I did indeed have higher expectations for this title, I still really enjoyed it.
You could very much see the chemistry between Offroad and Daou. They are super cute and it's nice to see how close they are even off screen.
Hope I can see them again in the near future so they can make my heart flutter once more. <3

A fun ride but very shallow

Like any other work by this director more focused on an adult and hot narrative, Deep Night is a series that succeeds in bringing beautiful and charismatic actors, an interesting plot and excellent kiss scenes. But it also has the same defects: a poor script, a development full of plot holes and simplistic resolutions. Oh, and let's not forget the excess of kissing scenes inserted to resolve any conflict in the plot.

I like the story and the potential it has, but it's all thrown in here. The character who suffers most from this is Khem. He is introduced as a rich, arrogant man who hates his mother's club (for reasons that the series does not explore in depth), but all of this is put aside after seeing a performance by Wella. There is no development of his arrogant personality for him acting in a kind way, there is no development of his relationship with his mother and the club. Things happen from one scene to another without the slightest narrative logic.

But what bothers me is how nothing has any impact on the plot. Khem discovering that Wella is a host. Pan finding out about Khem and Wella working at the club. Wella finding out about Khem's mother. His mother finding out they broke the no-dating rule. The hosts discovering Khem and Wella's secret relationship. NONE, absolutely none of this has any impact on the story.

And this becomes very evident at the end when the whole problem with the police is magically resolved with an event where they do the same thing they always do in the club performances. The series tries to open up a conversation about hosts and prostitution, but none of the characters or the plot really manage to address this in the slightest.

It's as if the series is ashamed or afraid to associate itself with the term prostitution.

Another point that I find unbearable is this problem with the police. It's repetitive, there's no sense of danger, the person behind it doesn't matter in the plot and it's a bit stupid to think that the police will keep going to the club every time they receive the same complaint and find nothing.

The same happens when Khem records videos for the internet with the hosts, but later the plot has Wella having problems with his mother and college because of his work. It doesn't make sense for him to hide this and show his face doing tiktok videos for the club (not to mention the countless scenes of costumers recording his face)

Finally, the infamous trisal between Japan, Seiji and Ken. In theory I think it's incredible, but the execution was terrible. It's not like the 3 of them have feelings for one another, they just stay together because Seiji is unable to choose one.

And it's a huge waste, it's a plot that could have been used to build something so interesting. But again, like every other narrative here, everything is resolved in the easiest and most convenient way possible.

It's an easy series to watch, the characters are great, but the development is very precarious. There was a lack of courage in creating a more dynamic plot, better constructed and with a bolder script.

AN ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTFUL DRAMA

What a terrific drama. you feel like you are watching a period of time in the life of a village, not actors in a drama. It is so so well done. The ML and FL were brilliant, there relationship is natural and caring. Granny was outstanding, she has a smile in her eyes, a little mischievous, fabulous, as were all the Aunties, the children all were wonderful. The cinematography , the music, perfect. the whole drama was soothing, calming, caring, the conversations were really worth listening too. A lot of wisdom. and fun also. i was indeed sad when i watched the last episode, so i have just rewatched it. and enjoyed it all again, and of course you see something you missed the first time around. Many thanks to the cast and crew for producing such a wonderful drama

A beautiful and touching, romantic story about love even beyond death...

I will not write in detail, I will write briefly... you must watch it for yourself....
a beautiful story, I watch it for the second time and each time I get moved at the same moments when the leads have to go through another trial of separation... but I am very happy with the happy ending for them... I love their little son, "the little rice ball".. ...But I don't understand the plot of Dong Hua and Bai Feng Jui... in this part they knew each other and were undergoing a test of love on earth... but in the next part dedicated to Dong Hua and Bai Feng Jui - Eternal LOve of Dream, they seemed to not know each other and showed up. Bai Feng Jui's plot from her leaving home to the heavenly wages in disguise, because she saw Dong Hua earlier who saved her and she fell in love with him... and they also went through further trials in the world of mortals, and it seemed that Dong Hua did not know her previously as Princess Quin Qian, then what happened in the meantime? I can't really connect these threads together...
To sum up, this part is great, great actors, great set design, costumes, music, everything at a high level!!! this is my favorite drama as well as the rest of this series! Well done to the whole team!!!

I rarely rewatch series and this was worth it!

rewatched after years? because clips on YT still made me laugh. And I enjoyed it more than my first watching it. It's like, I understand why it ends like that. Like, my present self loves it more than my previous. I was well wrapped for me like 100/10 than the prejudgment that I remember. Maybe because my previous self wanted the queen to stay to be Jang So Yong. Because like my question before, did the King notice the changes in the Queen's behavior after he left? What is his feeling about it? But now, I want to know it not because I'm intrigued by their real feelings but, because I'm curious about how well-rounded their connection and bond. But having my current perception, I'm really not mad about it. It was actually concluded nicely and thumbs up!

I especially enjoyed side character moments more than my first experience nyahaha. Especially Court Lay Choi and the royal chef and how they have a connection because they are both stressed out by Queen Nyahaha. And the friendship between Byul Gam and Kim Hwan was awesome and golden. I was much more solid than if they led a path of love triangle cause of the court maid of the Queen.

Ow and one thing that I just realized now, no really a love triangle happened to Byung in, King and Queen. I mean, Byung In loves Kim So Yung. But the King loves Jang So Yong. So... can it pass that Byung In is not a second character that I always rooting for? Because men, his fate was quite tragic yet it's quite well-ended for me, and yeah, I'm mad to think like that.

I rarely rewatch series and this was worth it. I understand the story more deeply and it's still a masterpiece for me.

Overall, if I forget about this plot again, I'll definitely rewatch it again and again!

❤️ binge-worthy storyline of entitled lady turned badass

TOTAL RECOMMENDATION: a nice female-centric entitled lady who was too nice-n-innocent, taking bad turns, 1 after another, being victimized and as fate would have it now became a total badass beauty with new fighting skills and indomitable survival personality. She lost a family, just to be reborn into another, as luck would have it. I like the main leads' CP chemistry as well, like it's a win-win combo for just the right 24 episodes to come!🌹👍 💎 🌼

Too preachy for my taste

I've read reviews of people who absolutely loved this drama. I can see their perspective but I hesitate to rate this drama any higher than 8 stars overall for the following reason: there were many good points about this drama, I love its realistic depictions on familial love, love between siblings, love between a grandparent and her grand child. And realistic portrayals of female friendships - young and old. I love the realistic portrayal of disabilities and the steps the protagonist took to have a balanced life despite of her disability.

I love the everyday romantic vibe between the male and female lead, although the female lead was not perfect, she clearly came across as very inconsistent in her choices. And sometimes gave a long complicated answer, when a simple answer would make more sense. This is when I feel that the script is trying to be too deep for its own good.

I do NOT like the writer's soliloquy about death, tragedy or relationships. It was too preachy for my taste. I would think that the viewer should be allowed to have their own thoughts about these subjects and come to their own conclusions without feeling like the writer is forcing them to accept their own views through the characters. Half of the time, most of the soliloquys in the drama hardly made sense! Perhaps a lot was lost during translation (I don't know as I relied heavily on English subs from Viki). But the script often struck me as trying to be too clever for its own good.

Ugh

I am 8 episodes in and to be honest, I could’ve finished the shows time ago if the characters weren’t so frustrating.

I started watching the show because it had a promising premise: a forced cohabitation, fake dating and enemies to lovers. However, any potential that the show has is ruined by the fact that the hatred between these two is way too much. Almost every single episode is the same. They argue and yell over the smallest of things and then pretend they don’t care about each other but stay up until the night wondering where the other went which I hate in all shows tbh. I prefer when characters are straightforward with their feelings from the beginning which is obviously way too much to ask for but still.
Characters
One of my biggest issues resides within the ML. He is so unnecessarily rude for absolutely no reason. I try to like him but he doesn’t seem to have any redeeming qualities other than his face. He berates and belittles the FL at every opportunity he gets and when you think it is small teasing , he just continues. I honestly don’t understand the feelings the Fl s getting of him when he is always mean to her.
Another character I hate is the ML’s best friend (crush). She is the most entitled person I have seen. I believe she is aware of the ML’s feelings for her and uses it to her benefit. She is always calling and expecting him to be at her beck and call all the time. There is a specific scene in episode 8 where the ML says he can’t see her because he is busy and instead of accepting that she just tells him to meet her because she is waiting. And the most infuriating part is that the Ml listens every time and accepts it every time (does he not have self respect).
FL- to be honest I don’t hate or like her, I am almost indifferent towards her. I like her optimism and how she stands her ground to the ML. However, I don’t understand how she forgave her friends so easily after what they did.
The only character I like is the ML’s friend/ the guy working with FL. I like his transparency with the FL and in general. Also he seems to me to be a better fit in terms of romantic interest for the FL.

I might still continue the show due to hype around it and maybe it gets better from here because I do still have the other Hal to go.

Another drama that it was ruined by romance...

Honestly I really liked it at first but after one point it became annoying...

We all have our most & our least favourite characters in a drama here's ny list for this drama:
MFC: Ni Tian Er Xing & Zi Yu
LFC: Bai Cai & Xin Yue Kui

Ni Tian Er Xing & Zi Yu they both were amazing characters and the actors did an excellent job playing them!!
For me these two were the only characters that they deserved to get everything that they wanted but it didn't happen. I was happy for Zi Yu at the end that he lived and watched Wu Geng defeating Hei Long and gaining the freedom for all three realms but in the process he lost the rest of his family and ppl he loved and became a lonely soul. He definitely deserved more happiness.
As for Ni Tiang Er Xing he was an amazing character! A great and caring leader and also a great and loyal friend that deserved to get everything and be happy but instead the twisted writers had him die.

Xin Yue Kui was such a twisted character!
For her greed for power and apparently because of her crush on Hei Long was willing to kill everyone even her own family!
I found the fact that she was killed by Hei Long very entertaining but I definitely wanted her to suffer alot more than she did!

I also liked Hei Long's character because he was really powerful. If he had a good heart he could have been a great leader for the Immortals.

Wu Geng was a good character, but I was disappointed. Although he was strong enough to kill Hei Long at the end all that power wasn't really his, it was borrowed or given to him and without Er Xing's help, giving him his own remaining power after he had died, he would have been dead too. The thing about him was that he had a very strong will power, that's why he managed to cultivate the Qi energy that Zi Yu gave him so fast and became stronger and also managed to activate the colourless realm devine power.
He was also a very good leader and he even managed to bring together the three realms and bring peace amongst them. He is definitely could've been a great leader for the three realms but in the end he gave it all up for nothing, just because he wanted to go find that idiotic and good for nothing Bai Cai.
I still don't understand why she got to live again and not all those other great characters that died. She was so fricking annoying and weak from the beginning till the end. Such an unnecessary and good for nothing character. The only thing ahe did throughout the entire drama was to say "A Gou" like an idiot, and annoy us.
I liked her more when she was evil.
Without her character this drama could've been a 9 or 9,5 easily.
Also she didn't have any chemistry with Wu Geng.
In my opinion, this drama didn't need the romance. It would've worked better as a Friendship and Bromance drama.
If the writers wanted Romance they could have had Wu Geng end up with A Lan or Bei Er, since the ML had way more chemistry with them. But no, yet again, those twisted writers hed them both killed like Er Xing.
Those great ppl that deserved to live and be happy remaind dead and that annoying Bai Cai was brought back from the dead. I'll never forgive the writers for that.
The only good thing that they did (for me) was that they made Shi Xing and Xuan Feng Sage King, good characters. I really like these two actors so it was kinda impossible and difficult for me to see them as evil characters and hate them. I was grateful when they both turned good and didn't remain in the evil side.

Great for bingeing or a la carte

I really liked this anthology of Taiwanese love stories between people from different walks of life. They were funny, sad, quirky, sweet, and thought provoking. What ties them together are well crafted transitions intertwined into the plot that could be anywhere from brief cameo appearances of a character, to a whole new plot surrounding the previous supporting cast in the next. The series then makes a full circle back to the situations of the first episode to tie all the episodes together. Some episodes are stronger than others, but they all deliver in the messages of love and connection during the Covid-19 pandemic as the driving force in the plot.

From dating reality show drama, to cheating, to finding love in the most unexpected places, to navigating societal constraints, this anthology has it all. These 50 minute episodes tug at your heartstrings, making you wish you had more backstory, but what you are given is just enough to make it worthwhile.

I would love a season 2 to this. It was original and creative. I love it when writers don't fall on clichéd tropes to make a good drama. This was a diamond in the rough.

I don't get the hate

I almost didn't watch this because the hate for this show was immense, but curiosity got the best of me and I'm honestly confused.
There were issues with this series for sure, but for so many people to say it was the worst BL they've seen.. I'm just confused.
I thought the actors did a great job, I fell for JM.. he's gorgeous and what a voice. I know a lot of people have issues with Mew but I liked the way he portrayed his character, he was guarded and aloof but had a lot of love for people close to him.
I also really enjoyed the dual language aspect.
There were fun moments and sad moments and moments I wanted to scream at the producer but I really enjoyed watching it.
I didn't find it slow, I liked getting to know the characters, I do wish there was more of the two leads together though.
I seem to be in the minority that enjoyed this, but it's an easy watch and I'll probably watch it again.

That was disappointing...

First, there is a "dog" cafe without dogs... that's strange as hell.
There is ONE dog in the whole show.
All Koreans understand Thai for some reason without translation devices or so it seems.
The story was soooo slow going in the beginning and then the ending was rushed. What did they wait for? Most of the inbetweens scenes did not much for the love story. The "traitor" was still in the final shot - I only thought WTF? There was a chance for an emotional outbreak for what he did, but nothing happend.
The production value was high, but for such a subpar story it was wasted.
The chemestry between the two leads was ok-ish, I guess a language barrier is not so easy to overcome. They still lacked passion and longing for each other.
All in all I could have skipped it and not miss a thing.

Must watch engaging and entertaining drama

I haven't thought I am gonna enjoy this drama this much. Its has such a great ride with twists and turns.
It was a very fast ride from 1 to 30 episodes.I havnt liked the drama after it moved from Shanghai.
3 people killed me with their acting.
"Zhang tian yang" -omg what an acting!Such a ruthless Villon.Caring lover.
If we can see romance in this drama then it's because of his character only.such a good job.
Wang yang- such a great character who live just for the country and it's growth. The bond bw him and WYB was awesome. Its very nice to see them both in same screen sharing tutor and student bonding. His acting is top notch showing minute expressions in his face to express each feelings.
Finally Wang yi bo- I can see he has given his full dedication to this character. He justfied his character through his great acting.way to go bobo.

I'm sorry but what was this?

I'm not use to write reviews but I just have to say some things about this drama. I came to this show with high expectations because I saw that it had a certain similar vibe with Tomorrow and I loved that drama, one of the bests and I truly love this type of dramas that can make you feel everything, every single emotion at once and it really makes you think about life but I don't even know what to think about this one.
First of all, I loved the first episodes, specially the twins ones I cried so hard, I truly felt it in my soul and I was expecting more emotional storys in each episode a different one but it didnt came. I wasn't really feeling it the relationship of the FL and ML, there wasn't any chemistry in my opinion and it just felt dull and just exactly like other 20 dramas. I predict a lot of the story, not the villain but specially the ending but I was not expecting the end for the two ghost friends of the ML. And its in the ending and in their story that I got really disapointed.
For the ghost cop, I thought that we were going to get an emotional conversation with his wife. I understood what they were trying to do but for me I preferred that they had a conversation and both could feel at peace and not that he was going to turn out an evil spirit. I felt that he deserved better then that ending.
And now the one that I was flabbergasted... why does the FL friend ends up with the ghost??? It doesn't make absolutely no sense and, I know that this drama isn't supposed to be realistic but I mean I preferred that they had send him, in peace to the other side then having him end up as a professor of the ghosts and in a relatinship with a human!!!
Overall, it was an okay drama, I will not rewatch in the future but I guess it was good to pass the time and if you want to cry.

Sweet and fun!

I paused watching the drama after three episodes, because the ML's haughtiness had driven me crazy. However, when I started watching it again, my resolve has melted, and enjoyed the story till the end. ML still remained all serious even when joking (I liked more SML's cheeky smile), but to be honest, it did fit his role as the Crown Prince. FL was absolutely gorgeous, I couldn't find any fault in her acting. Even though SML was oozing with charm, I didn't feel any SLS, because it was obvious from the start his priorities were elsewhere. Supporting cast was amazing, from the villain and the king (the all-present Jo Han Chul, he was in everything I watched so far!) to hilarious FL fellow villagers. The story wasn't complicated and inundated with heavy historical plot, the villains weren't overtly devious, and episodes were all equally strong, not dragging at all.
I recommend watching this if you are looking for something sweet and fun to entertain yourself with.
