over-rated drama

Just finished all 40 episodes of this drama and must say that I am surprised to see all of the 10/10 and 9/10 ratings it has received.

The drama started off strongly, I really liked the first 15-20 episodes or so. The plot moved along well with a great story line, liked the actors, also some good comedic scenes helped make the first 1/2 of this drama a decent watch.

Then somewhere around episode 25 this drama goes off the rails and just gets worse and worse until the awful ending. The last 15 episodes or so were terrible. Every episode seemed to have a 4-5 minute scene with the male/female leads being all lovey-dovey, sweet-talking each other with the obligatory love song playing in the back-ground. This got tiresome and repetitive. Every character seemed to experience a near death scene and then the other characters help them miraculously pull through. This got tiresome and repetitive. Each episode seemed to have 3 or 4 song interludes, starting to think the producers were either getting royalties or really trying to push the soundtrack. This got tiresome and repetitive. Each time a character died, there would be 7-8 minute montage of flashback scenes with that character, of course, with some song playing in the background. This got repetitive and tiresome as well. In addition, the drama had the worst ending of any C-drama that I have personally watched. It was like the script writers gave up and just wrote some nonsense to get this drama over with.

Gave this drama an overall rating of 2.0 solely based on the 1/2 half of the drama. Re-watch value should be 0 but apparently 1.0 is the minimum value I can assign. It was painful watching this drama once, can't imagine that anyone would go back and re-watch this a second time. This drama won't be showing up on any top 10 best drama lists, but wouldn't be surprised at all to see this drama on a number of top 10 worst drama lists though. Starting to think that the producers must have paid an army of people to give glowing reviews.

Angry Mom (2015) - I didn’t have expectations of it because of the title but i was wrong. It was good in both the fun part and the action part. I like how the story revolves around bullying which is common nowadays. I never really like high school setting dramas but this an exception. It is quite slow paced but still worth watching. It makes my heart beat and it’s my first seeing Baro in a serious 2nd generation chaebol - and I think he did great. This drama also makes me loved Kim Jisoo and is now one of my favorite actors (this was before his bullying scandal).

Angel’s Revenge (2014) - I applaud myself for finishing this 100+ episodes drama. I saw the trailer of this drama from our local television network GMA as tagalog dubbed and I can't stand the dubbing so I find any means to watch this in korean format with english subtitles.
What I like most about this drama is the romance between the main leads. They really have the undying chemistry all throughout watching this and I felt butterflies in my stomach. On the plot, I would say since it is a "makjang" drama it is indeed unbelievable and it's really exhausting to watch. For the fact that it's too long, the angst and the anxiety watching this is there so it's pretty heavy on me as a watcher who is not familiar with this type of dramas. Overall, I would still recommend this to those who like "makjang" dramas and have the time to watch this.

Just something enjoyable to watch

My favourite part about this drama is the ML, hes a well rounded character and i love how the actor portrays him. They did well with the casting and I admire that he had to put on a lot of weight for the role. The rest of the cast are pretty good too.
As for the storyline, I think it's maybe a little weak but it's definitely enjoyable to watch each week and I look forward to seeing how it develops. I also kinda think its intriguing to learn about traditional sports rather than just the usual drama sports like tennis.

Angel Eyes (2014) - I enjoyed watching this drama and Lee Sang Yoon here, for me, is soooo handsome. I don't know if it because of his role as a firefighter or the uniform but he is gorgeous here. I love the younger version of the main leads. They are cute and innocently romantic together. They also did well in terms of acting and I felt the emotions that they portrayed in the drama. As to the older main leads, they did not disappoint me as well. I think they portrayed the characters really well in terms of acting their respective roles. The main setback for me in the drama is the storyline's pacing and how it flowed, I think it got dragging. Still, I cried alongside them and I think this drama was worth my time.

Aftermath (2014) - since it's really short, I felt confused watching this one. I didn't get the chance to fully understand the characters which had the potential to be introduced in the drama. I like the concept, the vibe is there. The main lead choice is also great for me. I think he has the guts, the face and the attitude to carry the drama but I guess it was too short for me to actually enjoy it. Since it is too short for my liking, I didn't really felt the necessary emotions in the drama to be invested in it. I can't remember the OST of the drama, and I would not rewatch this for sure. I would still recommend this to those who like this type of genre.

About Time (2018) - The concept of the drama is really nice, but I think the chosen actors for the drama fell short of my expectations, and eventually made the drama uninteresting for me as a viewer. I did finish this drama for the sake of finishing this one. There is no definite reason behind the clock and all and so I think an answer was not given to me as a viewer to think that it is the main focus of the drama as the name suggest. I think it’s too “romantic” for me, still there are heartbreaking moments especially when it comes to family but I think it gets more tiring at the end part since the comedic part was nowhere to be seen which is what was initially portrayed in the drama. No chemistry between the leads and sorry female lead, this type of character does not really suit you.

A Poem a Day (2018) - I really like how the drama started, as being familiar with the hospital setting and seeing that this medical drama focuses more on things that are unfamiliar to non-medical people, I truly appreciate the fact that they pursued this drama. I also like that it is true to the drama’s title name, there is always a ‘poem’ in every episode. Being a slice of life drama genre, I am into this drama, lighthearted drama but has in impact. The bad side for me is that the main leads does not really have a chemistry romantically. Still, I like how they unfold the romance part of the drama, and truthfully I am very much pleased with who end up with each other. I think it's hard for me to see Lee Joon Hyuk in a romance drama so far base on what I have seen in his other roles but I look forward to it in the future. This is just my third Lee Joon Hyuk drama that he is the main lead and I am satisfied. Jang Dong Yoon as Minho suits him as well, and I find him more charming here compared to Tale of Nokdu. I also like the side characters of this drama, I find them almost all likeable and relatable at the same time. This drama is one of my recommended dramas for sure.

Married to a Jerk

This story doesn't start off any crueler, the female lead is surrounded by pathological narcissists whose lack of empathy and self serving nature leaves you sick to your stomach. She's meek, trusting, and tries to persevere despite circumstances placed on her by her husband who is cheating on her with her best friend. Of course to add more fuel to the fire of sadness and tragedy, she has cancer with a poor prognosis. With circumstances related to her continued medical treatment that leads her to find out her best friend's betrayal; it is a catalyst for her reincarnation for a do-over and revenge.

I appreciate its storyline so far and its portrayal of narcissism at its cruelest coupled with the manipulative gaslighting of a spouse and best friend who executes their extreme cruelty on the person closest to them. Unfortunately, reality sometimes isn't too far from fiction. More light needs to be shone on pathological narcissistic partners, friends, family, and coworkers and their mask needs to be revealed.

I hope this drama will continue to give hope to anyone out there that has been abused, belittled, gaslighted, and told they were worthless. The tables can be turned and one can move on before they swiftly give their abusers a kick in the rear end.

Gentleman’s Dignity (2012) - what made this drama solid is the characters. What do you expect with veteran actors but the best, that is why I could really see the subpar acting skills of the young cast, but they are not bad. The characters are really good to the point where it was easy to get irritated, to laugh, cry along with them. Each and every actor brought their characters to life in style and color. The story is beautifully written, the pacing is great in the drama and how it unfolded, the characters are well written that I really respect that particular age group presented in the drama. The drama is well adjusted to it's romance, comedy as well as life in general that something seems relatable to them. The drama is easy to love. To more dramas like this.

Quite enjoyable but I need to rant

The AUDACITY Ki Joon has to be upset that Yoo Jin was dating and living with Shi Woo before him as if he wasn't about to get married and in a 10 YEAR relationship. Why was that such a big deal???? Ki Joon couldn't let it go but both of them were cheaters and liars????

Both Ki Joon and Yoo Jin are scummy cheaters who have no business being upset or angry or involved in the lives of Shi Woo and Ha Kyung. They have the NERVE to act the way they do when they cheated and abandoned their exes...they needed to be ostracized a bit more. Like how are YOU mad that both Shi Woo and Ha Kyung are working there when it is all your fault. Also, Ki Joon wanting to go half on the apartment to provide for Yoo Jin, Ki Joon having Ha Kyung write for him, him spying on them, the continuous lying between both cheaters, and the fact that they were never sorry and blamed their exes for their poor behavior. My mouth is on the floor.

You can't have your cake and eat it too!! like be so for real.

Aside from this, I am fond of the other main/supporting characters on team 2, the show being about weather is awesome, and I'm still enjoying watching it overall. I just don't like when cheaters act so entitled or their behavior is minimized so they eventually get redeemed.

I think the lead actors ruined it for me :-\

This is my first time watching a drama with either of these actors and only my second contemporary CDrama. I've been trying to figure out why I didn't like the drama much, because I feel like I should have liked it. the first 20 or so episodes were awesome (solid 9) but then it dropped to a 3 on the enjoyment scale and I found myself reaching for the fast forward button often. I ultimately concluded that the two lead actors were the problem.
Allow me to explain.
1. The ML did a phenomenal job with sad, longing, romantic, and/or flirty scenes. But for the technical scenes as an engineer in particular, or where he was supposed to be cool and aloof, he came across as not at all authentic. It's like he couldn't pull it off. There's a difference between aloof and flat. Likewise, there's a difference between stiff and intelligent. His aloof scenes came across as flat and his scenes where he was supposed to be demonstrating how brilliant he was just made him look stiff/robotic. This character was supposed to be passionate about systems engineering and the actor brought no passion to this part of his role (so, basically the basis of his central conflict and the core of his character).
2. The FL was really, really fun to watch, absolutely fantastic, until the two leads got together in the 22nd episode or so. After that point, she started randomly behaving in this really irritating infantile way that got worse with each episode. Her voice got higher and higher until she was using a baby-voice by episode 30. I was so sad because I really enjoyed her character up to this point.
Anyway. I'm willing to give these actors another try, but this drama was ultimately just average for me despite the story and direction being solid.

LOVLEY DRAMA ? RECOMMEND

I started this drama to make me sleepy but here I am 2 in the morning writing a review.

I loved how they brought all the tropes i enjoy
- enemies to lovers
-contract relationship/ marriage (personal fav)
-rich CEO assistant
- there was also a little bit of grumpy sunshine
in one drama that kept me wanting to know what's next . There were very many annoying characters (stresss) and the Enemies trope ended way too early but I loved it.The FL had me pausing and screaming at the screen because why you so stupid .I'm not a season 2 lover but I think I'll enjoy this one.💕

It crashed as a romance

I expected more from this drama because of the hype it had while airing but sadly, it did not satisfy me. It couldn't seem to decide its genre and tried to include so many subplots that were mostly resolved haphazardly. The drama tried to match up almost everybody but did not really show any buildup so they all felt unrealistic and I just couldn't root for any of the couples. Honestly, even with the two leads, the chemistry was nonexistent despite the use of typical romance tropes. Then they just had to include a thriller arc which I think was not that necessary and felt like a filler to stretch out the drama into 16 episodes. The only saving grace of this drama is the relationship between the FL and her daughter/niece which made this somewhat bearable to watch

Should've happened before Pieces of Me

It was much better than I expected. Especially considering what we were told it will be at first. I was very concerned about the original plot (Nick pretending to be 16 to get with Tod), so seeing that they changed it made me very happy. I do think it was better done this way.

However, the two parts did seem to drag on a bit, especially the second. The acting wasn’t very believable at times, which I think made it difficult to really feel the emotions in the more emotional scenes. They also ruined the ending by scheduling these two episodes after Pieces of Me. We already had a good idea of what to expect, which kind of prevent the buildup of what would happen in the end. Maybe switching the order of Pieces of Me and 1626 would be better.

Another complaint I have is about the time – when things happen, how do different events follow each other, etc. I found it very hard to keep up with what is past and what is present. There was no clear distinction between the two.
