Long time hesitate to watch this because of Zhang Binbin. This kind of story usually not really my cup of tea, but I really curious about the chemistry between Zhang Binbin & Jing Tian. So finally decided to check this out & turn out much like my expectation, finally decided to drop it.

Story about the the plant-alien hybrid (Yi Clan) named Si Teng (ST) , whose been slept for 80 years. Qin Fang accidentally wake her up & their journey begins...

What journey...? Unfortunately that's when i decided to stop care & watch, so i don't really know what their journey about. According to MDL summary it's about unrevealed ST memory. But the moment where I stop watch also talk about ST's taking her revenge.

Unfortunately for me the whole story over time not increasing my curiosity about Yi clan or ST herself. Instead they make me more and more careless about what happen in my screen. Although I quite like the chemistry between Zhang Binbin & Jing Tian, it still not enough to save the whole drama for me.

A must watch for those who love Suspense-Romance!

First and foremost, the setting was settled for sure. Church and Hospital are deeply connected if you look at it closely. As said in the drama, both Priests and Doctors also serve the ill, whether it is illness or demon. This drama was not totally horror but had a bit of everything, romance, comedy, action, melodrama. I had my doubts that I'd dream about ghosts, but this drama gave me a bigger thing to worry about than the ghosts. I can't believe the ending. I was so happy and set to have #EunMin to have a happy ending, but everything turned out to be a subconscious dream. I was so sad, utterly. But what could've been done, it was the Screenwriter's plan all along. I desperately wanted a happy ending for them and all the couples mentioned in this drama. This would've been elite then. And I still couldn't figure out the spirit, Samael's motive. Why did he do that? What was the story behind him becoming evil? Why was he in hospital clothes and what the hell happened to his face? Those questions were left unanswered, unfortunately. Rest, the drama was killer.
Still, I was hoping for Ham Eun Ho and Oh Soo Min to end up together. They did end up together though, even if it was not in the way I wanted. It was better than dying, though.

Frustrating but thrilling.

The dominant emotion was frustration, in each episode. Frustration at how stupid a whole community can be to blindly trust just anyone who met them just a few days back. Frustration at how they can beat up their own people just because that 'trustworthy outsider' asks them to. Frustration at how even the younger generation does now see any fault with it. Frustration at how there is only one sane person in this whole community who keeps on fighting for them, selflessly, and keeps getting shunned. Frustration at how even his own family cuts him off entirely.

I think the creators knew what they were doing with this one. It was frustrating yes, but because of that you can see what blind faith leads to and how important your own beliefs and values are to survive in this world.

Scenes that were supposed to be scary were just funny.

The story was quite passable and scary, but the execution was not. For me, the movie would have turned out better if they had decided to focus on only one side - horror or romance. Romance was rushed, hate miraculously turned to love. The horror elements were weak, although very well done graphically. Unfortunately, in my opinion, the creators of the movie failed to create a horror atmosphere.

The acting was quite weak, in some passages the actors exaggerated too much. I like this couple, but this was definitely not their best work.

BEST DRAMA AND BEST CHEMISTRY

this is the drama i was looking for. The chemistry between the actor and actress is extraordinary. I hope there is a continuation of this drama because I really like the acting chemistry of Wu Lei and Zhao Jinmai. so sweet and so romantic.

I will make this drama the best drama I have ever watched in my life. Even though many scenes were cut, this drama is really on my list of dramas that I will watch more than ten times

May Recommendation Challenge

Long time hesitate to watch this, because it really has long episodes but the review always great. But thanx to Recommendation Challenge & bitcoolcat, I finally watch this.... And yes I must admit this is one the best historical drama.

The story nothing too new about the harem. Story about a girl named Wei Ying Luo (YL) who enter palace from embroiderer and rising to the top to became emperor's consort. The difference is just the motive beyond YL action. YL 1st came to the palace because of her sisiter rape & murder, she wanted to investigate & bring justice to her sister's death. And upon investigating, she find out, or think, the one responsible for her sister's death is Fuca Fu Heng (FH), the Empress's brother. But as time goes by, she learn the character of FH & finally trust it's not him responsible for her sister's death. How the story goes.... It's really interesting to watch how the story goes till the end.

YL is one interesting girl, she's loyal, brave, smart & quick witted girl. She's like a new wind in the palace, and her wittiness get the attention of the Empress, FH & even Emperor and later on the Empress Dowager. Her shortfall only one, she's willing & will do anything in her power to achieve her goal, no matter who obstruct her way she'll gonna strike it. And that's often bring trouble for her. But with the protection of Empress, FH, Emperor and later on the Empress Dowager, she's manage to avoid all the danger & thrive till the end.

What I like:
+ The clever FL. YL is really one smart girl that know how to manipulate situations for her advantage.
+ I finally understand the feeling of missing opportunity between FH & YL. Oh one really sadly miss opportunities for these couple. And I really quite like the chemistry between Xu Kai & Wu Jin Yan.

What i don't too like:
- A little slow pace the last 10 episode. I really hope it end when YL & 2nd Empress make peace. I mean the moment the 2nd Empress said it will gonna be peace for a couple of year, before the emperor's sons grow up. I understand they need to close the curtain when YL's revenge to Prince He is completely ending, and I really wish that happen before the emperor's sons grow up, but that's maybe what's written in the history book & I can't really blamed the writer for it.
- Watching too much of the same time period & the same person, but in different drama, make me feel the character itself blurry in the end. And the most obvious character for me is the character of the 2nd empress & the empress from Huan Zhu Ge Ge & FL from Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace is like different person although they all the same.

Overall this really one good historical drama to watch. Highly recommend.

First time watching drama where almost everyone are strategists, smart and scheming

Started slow, but then wow it's progressing and now the best political theme drama I've ever watched.

It reminds me of NIF (Nirvana in Fire) and MLC (Mysterious Lotus Casebook), its like Mei Chang su (strategist) and Li Lian Hua (smart, relaxed) combined into one, but not only in just one role here, but almost every roles are that smart and scheming.

Yes literally almost everyone and it got me speechless. The dialogues also direct and smart.

Conclusion : its one of the few cdramas we should watch in our life ?

Kudos to the novel and script writer, its the best political plot I've ever watched, unpredictable.

Looking forward for s2 soon ?

Very cozy series

The series is very cozy and warm and brings a smile to my face....even thought the camera angles of shooting the drama could have been way better but overall this drama is a must watch for bl fans. The acting was good and storyline was also interesting and pleasant. It has only 8 episodes so its perfect for people who are very busy and don't have so much time to watch dramas(for example me)

At last a well rounded Chinese drama

It has got to be one one of the best Chinese drama I've ever watched. Maturity, finesse, sensitivity. It got it all. And the casting was perfection. Each and every one of them inhabited their role, never betraying the character and so much balance in portraying these stories about love, ambition, death, loneliness, aging, family etc.
This drama is a gem.

Romance in Afterschool Academy

After watching Episodes 1 & 2, I’m in!!!!
Under the same director as 'Something in the Rain' and 'One Spring Night,' I believe in this one.
This tutor-student relationship, where in the past and now they are colleagues at an afterschool academy (called hagwon in South Korea), a young man falls in love and chases the woman, who is 6 years older than him, that he likes, is always worth watching. So far, both the female lead and the male lead have their own solid arguments. And the communication between them ?, especially when we can see the male lead's micro expressions as he talks to her at the cafe ?.

I also love the introduction, the OST, and the small details the director puts in each episode.
Let's see how the story will develop in the next episodes!!!

One of my favorites Forensic Medical drama rn!!!

The well-written plot, interesting complex characters, every episode is a heartwarming or a painful story... the director & screenwriter all played a big role in creating this masterpiece.

Starting watching this because it's on an upcoming list on Netflix and have known about this drama before but didn't have a chance to watch it, seeing all the good reviews from the media I thought oh "Is this actually as good as they said?", "let's see how it goes!".

All the characters are doing great, especially Satomi and Arata, they set the bar too high for me, and this is my first time liking a male character so much, his sassy, cold, and soft-hearted, while Mikoto is a smiley and loveable girl.

Ep 1 hits differently after we all experience that "pandemic" thing.

"Lemon" is absolutely the perfect song for this series, made me teary every time it played!

Why Chief Detective 1958 is a must watch

Who loves quirky crime thrillers....please raise your hand here as Detective Young Han is here.

Set in late 1950s Korea, it is the story of Young Han who gets promoted to Seoul after catching a maximum number of cow thieves in his hometown. As the upright, fun-loving straightforward 27-year-old steps feet in Seoul, he finds the world in the gutter. Instead of losing focus, he teams up with mad dog Guk Jin, and powerful Kwang Han to save the innocent.

Now after giving an insight of what the theme is, let's dive into facts that will keep you hooked to the story.
1. The period

You have to agree period piece stories exhume a different essence. The costume, the vibes, the music- everything exhibits a time that makes us smile and feel lost at the same time.

2. The storyline

Writer Kim Young Shin has left no stone unturned in penning a prequel to "Chief Inspector." You know the biggest element of a period piece is to keep the aura alive. You are watching 1958...you want to feel the era yet you do not want to feel left out as this is 2024. The director understood the assignment he had been shouldered with and each corner and nook of the story will surely make you feel nostalgic but not left out.

3. The cast

As I heard the name Lee Je Hoon, I heard awesomeness. This man does not settle for less. From his role as the inspector in the time capsule series Signal to his effervescent performance in Taxi Driver, he is the OG actor of the Korean drama industry. His subtle chemistry with Youth of May girl Seo Eun So is soft and warm. Lee Dong Hwi, and Choi Woo Sung in pivotal roles add the necessary layer to this tiny series.

Quick cute light fluff

8/10 is my rating. This is a 2023 Japanese romance mini series with 6, 24 minute episodes.it is an adaptation from the manga series “Batsuichi ga Moteru nante Kitemasen”.

Being a subordinate whi is younger is fraught with problems but coupling with a famois actor has its own issues. Who will Kazuha’s heart pick?

Review

If you are looking for a lighthearted, uncomplicated yet predictable romance this would be a good choice. I would recommend it to fans of either actor, Japanese drama fans, or as a filler drama or quick watch. Maybe you watched something heavy or sad and just need a reset. Well this would fit the bill to offer some quick fluff to reset your emotions. There is not enough substance for me to watch again but I would not avoid it if someone had it on.

Spoilers

I am not usually one for large age gaps but these two characters fit each other so well that it did not seem as big a deal. With short mini series I often feel they would have been better if they were longer. There were ao many possibilities the ex husband could have tried to get her back, she could have tried dating the actor who was closer to her age, and there could have been a side romance. But mostly we could have gotten to know the characters better and had more time with them dating and getting to know each other.

I seriously loved her mom sticking up for her and getting in a social media battle with the ex. That was great and made up for Kazuha effusively apologizing when he and Ayoto got in a fight. Her ex was so in the wrong and I disliked her apologizing to him like that. Her mom telling him off made up for it.

#MyHappyDivorcedLife #TakahashiRin #TsunaKieto. #ShionoAkihisa
