Started so well, but then the story got lost...

I loved it so much in the beginning, but then it became a makjang. There were too many cliches and unnecessary plot points that didn't help the story forward. We were promised a second chance romance, but the romance lacked depth when we could have had such an emotional journey by the two great actors playing the main couple.

Also, as a doctor... the medical aspect of the story is ridiculous.

Still, I loved the characters and the transformation of the family. I cried and laughed a lot. This drama will stay dear to my heart, but that just infuriates me more because I feel ROBBED.

Typical C-drama about a twin sister and her frog prince

I endured the show until the last episode so that I can write a review objectively. I don't like ML both appearance and personality wise.

The opening scene started with ML chasing his wife and forced her to jump off the cliff. Later, he had his bodyguard fetched her from the lake. The woman he brought back was the wife's twin sister. She lost her memories after drowning..

ML was a high-ranking officer known for his beauty and righteousness. I cannot force myself to believe he was the most handsome man in the land. I mean the actor doesn't live up to the title.

His wife, the older twin sister, was devoted to him and her love turned into jealousy, obsession, and hatred. She was impulsive and vicious (an excuse to kill her off the screen without pitying her). ML purposely shamed her in front of the crowds by letting her married a rooster. I couldn't find myself to even like him even one bit.

ML married a mistress with the most stupid reason. He held a ceremony and attended it unlike when it was his wife's wedding ceremony. This made me hate the ML even more.

After the twin sister woke up, he forced her to sign a confession letter for attempting murder of his mistress. He hadn't finished investigating the incident but already decided that his wife was the culprit. After his bodyguard came back with the evidences, he learnt that his mistress stabbed herself. He didn't even try to clear his wife's name and just brushed it off as a trivial thing. What a prick.

Fl supposed to be the total opposite of her twin sister. She was kind, generous, intelligent, and cheerful. The plot was inconsistent making her an idiot rather than a smart woman. The most annoying about FL and ML were self-pity. They acted like they were wrong and felt bad for the late twin sister but they didn't even hold a proper burial for her nor go to her grave and ask for forgiveness (ML). FL didn't care about ML was her brother in law. She just desired him like the rest of the women in the land.

I'll drink this cup, even though I don't like coffee.

The most stressful parts of this series are the previews for the next episode.

This is a slow-paced slice-of-life drama, and although it addresses heavier topics (illness, death, financial problems, social injustice etc.), all the episodes end on a positive note.

Each episode focuses on one question or person -- but there are enough recurring characters from the neighbourhood that the shop feels like a part of the community.
The coffee shop is not just a backdrop for the stories, but the process of making a cup of coffee and the pleasure of drinking it are a integral part of the series -- even I, who do not like to drink coffee, was tempted to go and try some of these. In later episodes, the focus tends toward the beans and their origins, and that lost me a bit; my investment in the characters was strong enough to continue regardless.

Also, I liked that they incorporated the pandemic -- a lot of shows just ignore it, even though it has had a huge impact on most of us over the last few years.

The open but hopeful ending suited the slice-of-life theme of the whole show -- life does not have a Happily Ever After.

All in all, I can recommend it.
Although the show reminds me of Japanese shows like "Rokuhoudou" oder "Three Star Bar", it lacks that certain je ne sais quoi that those shows have -- so it's worth watching and I enjoyed every minute of it, but I don't think I'll be coming back.

Touching Story With Sweet Romance

Friends, this is easily the most bingeable watch this year. I could not stop pressing play and impatiently waited for episodes once I caught up with the live release schedule. Not only was the story interesting, it was incredibly touching the way this family came together to solve their issues. The story revolves around the ladies of this family - both the family members and their servants. I really enjoyed the intricacies of these various relationships. Their shifting dynamics created genuine character growth for many of the women. There are lots of #ladiessupportingladies as well as #ladiesLEARNINGtosupportladies in this drama, which felt really refreshing.

The main couple had a sweet and slow romance built over the course of the story. A bit more passion from them would have been nice, but I understand these dramas typically are on the tamer side. They did have some great hugs! The main leads did a good job portraying the characters and had decent chemstry together. I'm not sure their performance was as memorable as the overall story, but I will probably remember them fondly. I wonder how I would have felt about their romance with different actors in the roles. Overall, a great and touching story paired with a sweet and steady romance made this one of my favorites this year (so far).

THIS DEFINITELY A MUST WATCH!!!

I am a huge fan of the first series and I waited 7 years to finally watch the 2nd installment. I am excited specifically Kwanruetai because Khun Chai Puttipat (prequel) is one of my favorite Thai drama ever! I have a huge expectation for this one and this lakorn didn't disappoint! I honestly love the OSTs so much to the point that I sing it whenever it was played even though I don't speak Thai lol. It gives me the nostalgic feels that I similarly felt in the first series. I was just hoping that like in the 1st installment, they will use the same song but with different genres and interpreted by different artists. I think that's what I missed in this series.

The story revolves more on Marathee and her anger towards the Jutathep family. It was the sole reason why Tai and Chat can't be together. It also tackles about how they fight against illegal drug gangs that destroyed a lot of people's lives. I initially thought that this drama is more on the angst type but I didn't expect that this have lots of thrill, tears and death. I was shocked when Maiseek died. It clearly showcases us how dangerous our life will be if we choose to enter the wrong side. No wonder they didn't categorized this drama as a rom-com because it's not!

Also, they had one of the best casts! The leads look like their parents that they could pass as real children. Tai have a little resemblance of the young Marathee and Chat definitely is Pat's son! But the one acting as a Marathee deserves the best actress award. She perfectly acted how Marathee would act 30 years later. Choosing her to act as Marathee was a genius move. I would love to see more Kaew and Pat's moments which was slightly deprived from us.

I would also like to point out that sometimes, I don't like how the leads act. Chat sometimes look stoic while Tai looks like she's pushing herself to cry but I would still compliment them because as time passes by, they showed us improvements in their acting. I heard this was both of their first time to lead a drama. This was also Mikey's first time acting so I think I can understand. I believe they can reach high grounds as time passes by.

Lastly, this lakorn gave me many realizations. The best episode was in the last episode where Marathee and her father hugged each other while crying. It made me ponder how important it is to forgive. It might be hard at first but once you get over it, it's a relief. Because forgiveness is not for the other person's benefit but for your own freedom. This drama proves to me that time doesn't heal wounds. It will only heal if you start treating them.

I'm excited for the next one. I hope it won't disappoint me.

On to the next story...

Nam Yi and Jae Min's love and happiness can only be defeated by a single monster

Memorable performances, a perfect script and direction, a beautiful soundtrack, to which are added addictive kisses and a palpable chemistry that transcends the screen, are the main characteristics of the South Korean miniseries 'Blue Boys' (블루보이즈/Beulru Boijeu), also known as 'The Guy Inside Me', a demonstration that you don't need a big budget or long and numerous episodes to tell a moving story.
In just four chapters each lasting about 10 minutes on average, the miniseries, starring Lee Hoo Rim in the role of Kim Nam Yi, and Choi Seung in the role of Choi Jae Min, addresses topics such as the process of finding the true love, communication, understanding through experiences, homophobia, social class differences, friendship, job search, meeting friends, among others.
Lovers of LGBTIQ+ themed stories will feel at ease with the interactions of the two actors, who very well enhance the value of the entire story with their tender and captivating chemistry.
After a one-night stand, the outgoing and self-confident Nam Yi and the shy and insecure Jae Min, two former high school classmates who meet again three years after graduation, have developed feelings for each other and dream with a life together.
More open to demonstrations of affection and love in public, Nam Yi is not afraid to take Jae Min's hand and kiss him in the streets, but the latter boy will resist, as he fears the rejection of a conservative society, like that of Korea from the South, with strong patriarchal and heteronormative traditions, where homosexuals have difficulties fitting in.
After overcoming conflicts and misunderstandings, the love and happiness of Nam Yi and Jae Min can only be defeated by a single monster: the fear that South Koreans experience of being exposed as homosexuals, the fear of being excluded and discriminated against.
So Ri (Lee Soo Ha), a girl jealous of Jae Min for not having been able to conquer Nam Yi, will be in charge of inoculating Jae Min with the poison: "If a man dates another man and there are rumors about it, can you continue working in the company as if nothing had happened?" Nam Yi wouldn't have these problems because he comes from a wealthy family, but..."what would happen to you?", Ri will remind him.
In this way, the happy ending everyone expected does not come. Reality prevails.
And so the viewers will understand the true objective of 'Blue Boys', which is none other than to make a criticism, very intelligent, very subtle, of the discrimination that exists in South Korea against LGBTIQ+ people, since the members of said community face legal challenges and discrimination not experienced by the rest of South Koreans.
Gay sexual activity is legal as long as it takes place indoors, but Gay Marriage or Equal Marriage or other forms of legal partnership are not available to same-sex couples.
I allow myself spoilers to explain my point of view.

Feeling disconnected towards the end

I love the storyline. It's unique and refreshing. I really enjoy it until last episode.

I've no issue with the age gap, that isn't the problem. It's not so much about the story than the execution.

For past 5 episodes, my mind has these 2 actors as main lead. That's who I've watched, who I adore and who I've been waiting to watch, and suddenly....in last episode, we have totally different actor as Songjam?!

I get they are the same person but I feel NOTHING...because, I feel so diasappointed not able to see the kiss scenes between the younger Songjam and Aksorn, one we've been waiting for since the dance in episode 1. Although they do it with the older Songjam, it doesn't feel the same. HUGE EMOTIONAL DISCONNECT.

I dunno why they make the story so complicated. It could have been such a beautiful ending. Ugh.

Silly Sexy Little Romp

Another completely biased review from me to you.

This short series seems to get a bit of hate, but I have to say I loved it. Even though the one ML is a walking talking redder than the Sorcerer's robe red flag, he's still sexy as hell. And the other ML is a cute but dim little chipmunk. The 2 of them together strangely have a ton of chemistry. Lots of nice skinship. The shower scene....

The story is not ground breaking. There are some bits in there that you wonder why they were added. Watch it and see what you think.

All in all I really enjoyed the hell out of this one too. Turn off your brain, stop criticizing so much, smile and enjoy!

It is blooming good! Serious

The title of this show basically summed up the drama. It is all about one girl and her family's rise above terrible adversity and the many challenges they faced. It starts simple enough. All the main characters are introduced and the world building begins. Once the show hits its stride, calamity hits. The FL's family literally went from a position of power and influence to adject poverty overnight.

Rather than just accepting her fate, the FL comes to the fore and takes charge of the situation and changed her family's fortune. Along the way, she found love and changed the lives of many people she touched.

The series is full of positive messages, and they are delivered quite effectively by an engaging storyline. Yes, the plots are tropey but the way they unfolded is well scripted and its pacing is good. You won’t feel bored nor confused.

It is a good drama overall and quite enjoyable. A large part is attributed to the solid FL character. She faces every challenge head on and uses her initiative and intelligence to overcome them. Of course, the ML is there to do the heavy lifting and lend a sharp sword. In that sense, the show is a bumpy ride, but the trajectory is always upwards. We are never left in utter despair. This is a double-edged sword as we are almost conditioned to see a silver lining around every storm cloud. The show does go dark from time to time, with death and suffering just around the corner. It is just our leads who are mostly Teflon coated.

There is a good deal of fan service in the second half of the last EP before the HEA ending arrives on cue. All the main threads are tied up with pink bows and most characters have their arc concluded satisfactory.

I am pleasantly surprised by the acting abilities of the large ensemble cast. It would not be an exaggeration to use terms like cast of a thousand. There are so many actors with speaking parts! It ranges from highly regarded veterans to young green actors. There are the odd hit and miss but, overall, they lifted the series. The production value is good but not quite S rank. They didn't cheap out on the sets and costumes.

I believe this is the FL’s first historical drama. I have seen her in contemporary dramas. I not a real fan before this show. I find her other performances to be a bit stilted. However, she is so good in this drama. The style suits her and the low-key makeup as well. I'll definitely keep an eye out for her next project, especially if it is a historical drama.

While the ML is handsome in costume and the fight scenes are quite well done, his performance did feels oddly detached at times. Especially his line delivery. All the actors are dubbed but his dialogue just feels too measured and a little flat. It is as if the lines are recorded in a vacuum. Not a huge black mark but a bit odd when almost every other aspect of the series is solid.

I started with low expectations and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this show. It is tropey and a bit cheesy, but it works likes a treat. That’s entertainment!

Was It Worth It?

I was beyond excited to start this drama. It had an amazing cast lined up, the trailer looked interesting, and the synopsis sounded unique. But the only thing that held up well was the casting. Friends, our lead actor and actress are probably the only reason I finished this soapy and overly drawn out love story. KSH and KJW nailed every emotional and comedic scene. They had amazing chemstry and I would 100% LOVE to see them in a future drama together. The rest of the cast did the best they could with the material available to them, particularly Kwak Dong Yeon and Kim Jung Nan. The cinematography was also just wonderful with some amazing dreamy shots and beautiful locations.

It's the plot, the bloated cast of characters, and the overly long episode length that truly kept it from reaching its potential. It never quite knew what it wanted to be. Was it a romance? A makjang? A comedy? A satirical drama? A fantasy (considering some of the plot points were unrealistically tied into a bow by the end)? Some shows can effortlessly combine these various elements together, but this was not one of them. If this story had focused on one of these elements with half the characters and half the length, I think we would have something truly memorable. Because embedded in the sloppy plot are truly some beautiful and unique moments. I just wish we could have focused on those moments rather smashing them together with cliched plot points over and over again.

Was it worth it? In the end, it was worth it to me. I enjoyed watching this live and I adored the main leads. But if I were being honest with myself, I would have dropped this after the second episode if not for the main cast. I recommend people give this a shot, but be willing to drop it if it doesn't hold your interest after the first initial episodes. If you want to know how the love story goes, there are some amazing YouTube videos showing just their story.

One of the best dramas

One of the best dramas I've watched. The story is truly unique and hilarious at the same time. Love the small quirks added throughout the drama too. The story has great pacing and never drags with each episode being amazing. You will not regret watching this and I don't think you'll be able to find any other drama similar to it either!

An intriguing and beautiful story

It seems too short for 6 episodes and my only complain is, it has indeed some plotholes but maybe I'm a bit a nitpicky person. It would be better if the episodes were a bit longer or maybe to make another special episode. However, I feel at the same time, 6 episodes were perfect for the storytelling.

I was hooked since the first episode, I didn't even know the actors nor the production so it was a big surprise and a good one.

The concept was really interesting and I must say, they succeeded to make us want to watch each episodes without feeling annoying or bothered. I really like the interaction between the two characters (they are rookies, except Beck although he had some few guest roles and they already did a really nice job to interpret their characters / roles), the cinematography, the vibe and maybe another complain is that sometimes I was a bit confused with the choice of the background (music/instrumental) of some scenes but looking back, it's not really a big deal, just a small detail.

I was gradually captivated in the development of the story and its characters. I had to admit, I was a bit dumfounded by episode 5 but I won't give big spoilers. However, after that, I mainly think it's not a big deal, maybe because the actor isn't that "old" and he really did a good job that I didn't even find a difference. In addition, it's still a serie / a fiction and I'm glad I was open-minded to watch it and I don't regret it.

So yes, I won't mind a rewatch (I already rewatched it lmao) because it's a gem.

For sure, I'm looking forward to Parky and Beck's next projects and also P' Can. Hope to see good productions from Studio Say-yes in the future!

Despite being cheesy, sloppy and full of cliches, It is entertaining.

Let me be honest with you, This was my first Cdrama ever that I completed.
And well well well I was left speechless after watching this.
But
But
But
But now that I've watched tons of other rom-com-costume cdramas I know that this drama is not really worth the time... .
There are like many other dramas about the time travel plot and transmigration that are veryyy much better in terms of story and acting.
The makeup is awful as someone mentioned "the FL's was so pale, she looked like a corpse. When she put her hand to her face, it was yellow compared to her face."
I can say that there are lots of cute male characters so maybe you can watch this because of them (:
Beautiful men everywhere >.<
The ending was kinda weird. I can't believe they ended it like that.
The best thing about this drama is the OST. It is amazing, one of the best OST's out there.
The OST's meaning really suits the story.

The Com runs out long before the Rom

I thought I'd found something entertaining and amusing. Something that might actually be a rom com. I made it as far as episode 8 before I figured out that this script was going nowhere interesting and that I was not invested in any of the characters. Halfway through I thought I could make it work if I treated it as a farce so I tried to enjoy it as such. It devolved into a pointless, ordinary drama. This was not what I was promised. It was less about hijinks and more of a joke at the expense of my time.

Maybe I could have made it until the end but I really hated what they did to the FL. I liked Jeon Jong Seo a lot in the beginning. I love that she has that touch of RBF to make her look like a woman you'd regret messing with. But then her character went from hustling underdog to being hated by everyone as she was tossed around by a pair of rich kids. It doesn't matter whether their intentions are romantic or not. She comes out of it looking like some chaebol plaything from a past that we'd like to forget.

Dropped and pass.
